Unfortunately I think Paris's "character arc", if you could call it that, is indicative of one of the major flaws of this movie. To me the whole film felt pieced together, and many of the plot points unearned, in a way that was skilfully avoided by the earlier entries in the series. Far too much stuff happened just because it had to in order to serve the next action set-piece or surprise twist. @@miked1869 That's understandable, I'm not trying to dismiss your opinion. Personally, not every interesting character needs a clear backstory to be emotionally complex. The audience doesn't need to know how she got this way, only understand her perspective. Paris knows the world through power and weakness. In her mind everyone is either holding the gun or at the other end. When Ethan spares Paris, he reduces her to a target yet refuses to fire. This measure of restraint challenges her worldview due to contradicting ruthlessness being the only measure of strength.
I absolutely loved this movie. It was such a blast to see on the big screen. And I personally loved the complicated plot and ESPECIALLY the AI villain. Actually had some threat behind it, and felt foreboding. And something about this score just sticks with me.
This actually explains a lot. The movie is almost 3 hours long and I never felt bored in the theater. For me it was the easiest movie to watch with that kind of length. It's truly amazing, a shame it underperforned at the box office.
Paramound fucked it by poor marketing and convincing Tom Cruise enough that Barbenheimer will be such a formidable foe to it's released. If they just moved it past 1 month, they could easily get that 1 Billion bag. The movie releases after summer of Barbenheimer was so dry. The last time I gone back to the cinemas was for The Creator, Exorcist: Believer and Five Nights at Freddy's. And that was for the Fall release
«The best movie I've ever seen that I've been disappointed by» is likely a good summary. I did enjoyed it in the theater, no wasted moment, but there is something in the overall act that I can't quite verbalize. Waiting for second part.
I think the turn with Pom's Jester Dragon character was pretty interesting because they also never made her a pushover. She was never just beaten. Ethan did win their fight, but it took him going all out. And we see her still being the same force of nature afterwards to some degree. But there's still that lingering thread because of that fight.
Apparently this movie was a box office disappointment, with many people then saying the audience is tired of this series. Maybe. Or perhaps the overwhelming success of "Top Gun: Maverick" had a lot of people thinking, " I already saw a Tom Cruise film. Do I need to see another one quickly?" And deciding, no.
I went to the film when it came out with one expectation. A spectacle film from people who loved what they were doing and wanted to entertain. I got it. No preaching. No 'message.' Just a lot of fun and fresh cleverness. It's not perfect, but it's a long shot better than 99% of the .... material... coming out of Hollywood these days. I enjoyed it.
This movie was so good, and exactly for what you highlighted here. I was blown away by how well written this movie is for what's supposed to be an action flick
@@synlion that 'intangible' and 'ineffective' villain of yours is exactly what killed Ilsa. This villain, by being non-physical, has had a presence throughout the entire film, even when it wasn't there, because you can't tell when it is. The entirety of the film's events played out the way it did because of the entity, according to its plans. It was more involved in the plot than any character. In fact, the threat it poses is far more relatable in this day and age, with how much control of our lives we've relinquished to systems we don't care to understand. Ilsa dying exactly as it predicted showed Ethan that he could no longer 'Ethan Hunt' his way out of this, and that he needed to predict what the entity predicted and subvert it to succeed, but it also helps him realise that the entity does see him as a threat, telling him there's a chance he could pull it off. How is that not good writing?
@@yuqipan7570 what you're describing either makes no sense or is just pure condensed copium. villains usually have presence throughout the film. that's achieved through tension, pacing and a sense of threat. look at mi3 for a good example of that. the ai being intangible doesn't make it any more present or threatening. ilsas death and the rest of the events are not the making of the ai, they are the making of the writers. she went to her death because the plot demanded it, not because the situation forced her to. her fight scene was also pathetically choreographed. your comment reads as if you can't tell that this is a work of fiction. the threat the ai poses is only relatable and scary if you've spent exactly zero time actually looking at what ai does or thinking through what ai's could and might do. i'm guessing you're in the same boat as tom cruise there, who i would bet was the one who pushed for an ai as a villain. ai is boring. ai's don't make for good villains usually, because good villains are almost always motivated by some relatable emotion. they are exciting and scary, because they act in ways we understand. an ai has no motivations other than the one it's programmed to have. they don't feel greed or rage or pain. the writers know the ai is too boring on it's own, so they introduce gabriel who is pretty effective as a villain. an ai villain that works is hal 9000 in 2001 a space odyssey. hal works because a) he makes decisions based on his programming and b) because he is menacingly portrayed by douglas rain. either your ai is scary because it doesn't care about you and you're just a necessary sacrifice to complete its mission. non human villains like the alien work for similar reasons. for the entirety of the movie, the entity is essentially only alluded to. it doesn't do much of anything except for taking away from gabriel as the central villain, by making him a pawn. all of this might even sort of work in a better movie, but the cringe exposition dump at the beginning, the uninspired action throughout and the horrible decision to kill off the best character in the franchise (when you have two characters who fill the same role - guy in the chair - but bring more emotional weight if killed) all make a bad final villain all the more jarring.

I loved the film and at close to 3 hrs it flew by. I was personally entertained the whole way through. McQuarrie is a fantastic storyteller in how he is able to “show” rather than “tell”, something basic that sadly too many modern filmmakers have forgotten about. And while Dead Reckoning 1 may be more “Rogue Nation” than “Fallout” (that is, the set up for a much larger payoff), unlike other properties that split their final outing in two parts it never feels like there is padding. On the contrary it feels like there was much more to this movie that resulted in having to split it in two and moved to part 2. The “failure” of the movie was the release schedule, due to the studio’s choice rather than anything Cruise and McQuarrie did.
Absolutely loved this movie, my favorite of the year. Every scene/sequence felt so dynamic, my attention never wavered an instant because I always felt something else was coming any moment. And I really enjoyed the character dynamics as well, Grace was a little annoying at first but I ended up really rooting for her. Masterclass in how to make an action film that never goes by the numbers.
I LOVED the CoD MW2 Terminal reference :D And I look forward to seeing part 2 of this analysis where the downsides of the movie are discussed. Great video :)
That's one thing i've always liked about the Mission imposible movies is that they may seem like derivative "dumb action flicks" on the surface but they arent dumb at all, and are all actually pretty well written, acted, and decently paced spy thrillers with great set pieces and believable antagonists. They're not perfect, but the writing is basically top notch considering the standards for the genre.
Glad i wasnt the only one that noticed this movie did a great job of making long scenes and sequences not feel tedious and dragged out despite each main location taking up a good chunk of the film's run time (Airport, car chase, Venice party, train heist, etc). Filmento accurately explained how they made the magic happen: good writing and pacing, keep the audience engaged by changing the emotional and power dynamics even if the setting didnt change. Introduce twists, caveats and obstacles on a micro level for the Protag to deal with. The Multiple factions chasing one character aspect is very fun as well.
Oppenheimer was very much overrated. I think I would have enjoyed it if it weren't so hyped up by everyone. It also had no reason to be on IMAX, let alone reason to kick this movie out of IMAX after only a week...
@@VanquishedAgain for real. i love Nolan but this really shouldve stayed in IMAX longer, esp. when oppenheimer has nothing much to offer in spectacle for a big screen...

For one thing, the choreography doesn't make much sense. A character with a sword should not fight as close as possible to a character with a knife. Instead the swordsman would make full use of the extra range. Ilsa doesn't. She constantly puts herself in far more danger than is necessary, despite being a trained assassin. She also had far less of a role than she should have. She's a well respected character. She shouldn't be thrown away early on for plot convivence. A death sequence for such a character needs to be especially impactful and it just wasn't.
@@the_redpyro4906Hell yes. The disrespect her character was given is outrageous and I still can't believe she was done that way. And then to have Grace there as an immediately replacement? C'mon!

The thing about cutting away to different scene, i thing it had negative effect in the cliff jump stunt. I liked how in fallout, we got to see the stunt being played out with focus.
I agree. I think they totally botched that stunt in the editing room. You can see the difference in the stunt special they released for marketing. The cliff stunt in that special was way better filmed than in the actual movie. What a shame.

I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU TO MAKE THIS VIDEO FOR SO LONG!! Incredible movie. After so many failed 007’s. And morales played an amazing zealot. Absolute incredible movie.
I've understood what you were saying : the movie use tricks in order to have longer scenes without the audience to be bored and still entertained, but when the movie use too much of these tricks, they become too much visible and predictable by the audience and the boredom still happen. In particular in the scene with the train falling wagon after wagon. Yes, every wagon is different inside and give new threats (kitchen tools, fire, a piano...) to deal with in addition to just deal with the gravity, but it's really too much. And because at the end of the movie we don't have fear anymore for the two heroes who has survived every threats without a scratch, we don't care anymore, it's just a very very long scene that seems to never end...
When I saw the scene with grace and Ethan running across the train and climbing inside the train I thought of the scene from Uncharted 2 when Nathan had to climb out of the train and run across it. Tom cruise should just play older Nathan drake at this point I would love to see it
What does woke even mean? (I don't mean the actual definition of the word, I mean this new, second definition, that people use to describe movies nowadays)
@@officialmonarchmusic Woke stories include, but are not limited to: Forced inclusivity: turning established characters into something they never were, for example what they did by turning Iceman into gay, after 50 years of the character being straight; A not forced inclusivity would be creating a new character. Also, making every straight man in the story a villain.
Suprised so many people like this movie. Compared to the other entries in the series, this seems to me like a clear step down in quality and one away from what makes Mission Impossible what it is. It only really competes with II in that regard.

Totally agree, Fallout was so amazing, when I watched Dead Reckoning it just felt like they were all tired and the writing wasn't great in utilizing all of the characters on the team which I thought Fallout did quite well :P
@@mr.mammuthusafricanavus8299 Yeah, I did enjoy DR but there was a lot of problems with it. It's a good film, it's just other entries in the MI franchise were a lot better. I still think Ghost Protocol and Fallout are in a league of their own.
Yeah, the action is over-edited. No sequence has topped the car and helicopter sequences in Fallout, probably except the mountain jump and the train climb sequences. The best fight scene in the film is the one with Paris. That said, it's the most rewatchable film in the series because the danger is nuclear levels of heat and the villains are always one step ahead.
Fallout was incredible and DR had some very good sequences, but it dropped the ball in a lot of ways that Fallout did not. It wasted an important character and several moments that could have been far more dramatic or impactful than they were. A few of these scenes traded a heavy hitting immersive moment for a forgettable subversive comedy moment. It even introduced a character that ended up feeling more like fanfiction than she should have. I'm sure they had several different writers (pretty much a given) and I'd expect to find the parts I didn't like were probably written by the same person/people. For crying out loud, why would I be invested in the survival of a character that has only repeatedly gotten in the way and straight up tried to murder the main character for no particularly justifiable reason? It also doesn't help that first half of the train scene just shows how much better Vanessa Kirby (White Widow) is when it comes to acting than Hayley Atwell (Grace). Never before I have seen Actor A pretending to be Character B pretending to be Character A and end up having a far more likable, skillful and entertaining performance than the actor playing Character B.
DR will always pale in comparison to every MI film since 2 because of how they did Ilsa Faust. Awful decision and it was made even worse by clearly replacing her with that Grace girl.
Erica Sloan : You use a scalpel, I prefer a hammer. I liked DR but compared to Fallout, I prefer the hammer because that movie hammered! There is so many things I remember in MI Fallout but barely anything in DR, it just didn't keep me invested with the writing or utilizing the characters or even setting up better stakes by using a character that the series forgot as a meaningful death of an ''important'' character, like what if the fake bomb that kept Benji occupied released some slow acting poison on his character forcing Ethan to make some sketchy decisions between saving a team member over millions... Simon Pegg as an actor definitely has the gravitas to make us really feel bad if he got injured or died :p
Fascinating video. When I saw this in the theater, I was actually shocked to realize the climax was starting: I couldn’t believe that much time had elapsed!
This is because this was made by professional filmmakers, not the junior content creators Hollywood so loves to use now. The people that made this are well informed in how to engage an audience, they know their job: entertain us.
I liked this one enough to see it twice! Sure, it’s a step down from Fallout, but that was inevitable. That’s like M:I perfection! My only two issues were Ethan’s criminal past and Gabriel yelling “EEETHAAAAANNN!!!” I understand he was frustrated, but they could’ve expressed that in a way that didn’t make him look like a poor man’s Jim Kirk. 🤣 The train fight scene was awesome, though! I’m not sure I like it more than the train battle in Broken Arrow, but it’s up there!
Ethan’s criminal past consist of being falsely accused for the murder of Marie his girlfriend then. So they threw him in jail. You must have missed that scene! I agree Ilsa’s death was a surprise and an unpopular turn of events.
I find that highly debatable. It was the most incoherent and clunky entry since 2. It was the first one where I felt that the action sequences were planned first and then the story was thrown in around the action.
@@ComedyBros5 I really get what you mean, as somebody who saw it with me has the same opinions, but honestly I find that this movie is more focused on the characters than the plot which is something I tend to like. Some additional observations regarding the exposition dump scene wuth the Entity. Theere is this one Filipino director, Erik Matti, who complained about this scene because the dangers of the Entity are already established by three people, and that the scene keeps cutting to those characters. The whole point of the scene is to establish a potential villain in the room, with most of the characters there representing various branches of the government who can potentially be admired by the Entity's abilities and overexpanding reach. One person stands out. The moment that Denlinger, the Director of National Intelligence, keeps insisting in how awesome the Entity is, downplays its dangers by being dumbfounded on what it can do, and admits that he wants to control it when Kittridge calls him out instead of coming up with reasons that it is dangerous, is a clear sign for audiences not to lose track on this character. That said, this is probably one of the greatest action films ever made, although some of the action are a bit of a letdown following the well-made sequences in Mission: Impossible - Fallout.
Well said and well explained. I think Fallout is the greatest action film of all time, though. However, the train sequence in DR is the most amazing action sequence I've seen in a film in a long, long time.
@@ComedyBros5, what I liked about the sequences in Fallout is that they are dailed to 100. The plane scene in the opening sequence of Rogue Nation? The entire third act begins with Ethan climbing the helicopter with no safety hatches and piloting the helicopter fkr real. The chase scenes in Rogue Nation? This one has multiple factions involved and is bigger in scope. The underwhelming fight scenes in Rogue Nation? Toss in the fights in the bathroom and on the cliff. With Dead Reckoning, the action is still good. Though this time, the plot saved those sequences from being underwhelming. The fight in the sandstorm is a good opener, but John Wick 4 had a similar opener and is way better. The chase scene in Rome is good, but it's overedited and lacked the danger the chase scene in Fallout had. The fight scenes apart from the one with Paris are lacking. The train scene also had editing issues save for the climb. If the plot is bad, these sequences will be disasterous. Nevertheless, this, John Wick 4, and Spider-Verse 2 are some of the rewatchable films of the year.
I liked Fallout a bit more, but man, it is impossible to not be entertained when watching these movies. I always find my way to a theater for this franchise.
I don't like the idea that Grace is meant to be a new love interest for Ethan I'll be so disappointed if they follow through with that in the next film. I prefer their dynamic to be more brother and sister or mentor and mentee.
They traded Ilsa for captain Peggy 😒 Benji and luther were barely involved I've never seen Ethan simp so hard before The pickpocket shit was way overused
Regarding the aspect of time, I’m shocked to see this not mentioned in John wick 4 film perfection. It has exactly the same premise as dead reckoning with its action particularly the last act, where it seems that each action scene in the arc de triomphe, the apartment and staircase are divided into three acts that introduces more variables as the fight progresses, keeping the audience invested. As an example in the arc de triomphe, John starts in a car mowing down opponents in unique ways that are not even seen in the final two acts. Then, the scene switches to John being forced to abandon the car which now creates a brand new environment despite it being the same setpiece. The second act also introduces the boss (Chidi) in a minute long fight scene that combines its environment with the action like how John reloads as a bus passes by. The third act is now a combination of the previous two acts but ramped up. Now John is at even more at a disadvantage at an abundance of cars swarm his way (notice how before he was safer in his car but now he’s facing off against enemies in cars). Furthermore the boss is back and is fighting with his henchmen now instead of one to one. Now there are multiple enemies, John uses the cars as a weapon to kill multiple people in satisfying kills. Notice how the overabundance of variables keeps the action fresh, even more than dead reckoning in my opinion. This follows between all three mini-scenes of the last act, which is just sheer brilliance and is why I regard John wick 4 as the best action literally ever, and I’ve watched a lot of action movies like the raid and mi but this remains supreme
@@scottbarkley496 Each to their own I guess. Where John wick falls in story it reigns supreme in combat and dead reckonings story was incomplete and like filmento said very convoluted so it doesn’t even have that leverage over John wick anymore. Dead reckoning is a victim of its franchises success and in an attempt to go bigger and better it falls completely flat in certain aspects like Ilsa’s death and having a concrete story that filmento will cover when the anatomy of a failure video comes out for it. I don’t see John wick 4 making these mistakes
Dead Reckoning was a really good movie but I agree I was a bit disappointed. I think it was because of covid disruptions which I think is the reason for the exposition. For me I think it was just because MI Fallout was one of the best movies I've ever seen (it flowed better than any movie ever) and for some reason this one felt a bit disjointed. I still give it a solid B+/A- though
I don't honestly understand how people like this one, fallout was fantastic, but this one failed every single place where fallout succeeded. No looming threat, no urgency, no bad guy and making the bad guy ai was the dumbest move they could have probably done. 3 outta 10 for the stunts
Personally, it was hard to be disappointed by this film given the atrocious level of bad movies that have come this last years. Even if it was mid by some standards, it is still better than the real average.
MI7 feels a lot like MI1, unfortunately I don't like it, it just erases everything was built from MI3 to MI6, and not only about Ilsa dying, the new love which had a seed for future, but also loses the point of the Syndicate, the Apostles, I truly truly though Julia's husband, the doctor, was an Apostle. Maybe MI6 was extremely good, because it will never be surpassed by any movie of any franchise. I hope MI8 links all the movies and MI9 is what No Time to Die was to Craig's Bond, a nice and honorable finale.

Only gripe is Ilsas death, tho I don’t think she’s dead so this gripe could be removed when part 2 releases
Basilisk paradox
@@africanpenguin3104 Bro same.
Great film!!
i kinda hated the AI villain but that's personal opinion i guess
This actually explains a lot. The movie is almost 3 hours long and I never felt bored in the theater. For me it was the easiest movie to watch with that kind of length. It's truly amazing, a shame it underperforned at the box office.
This man's editing is just pure gold! 😄
I thought this was gonna make 1 billion. Color me shocked when it made half that.
Its poorly and awfully placed release date is completely to blame for that.
Terrible release date. Competing with Barbie oppenheimer and a strong running sound of freedom did this movie in.
It is a very long dragged out movie with 10 plots that don’t go anywhere and sets you up for a 2nd money grab movie.
"his deadliest enemy yet: Chat GPT" got me rollin
Hilarious!
The Mission and Tom Cruise never disappoint.
This chapter was awesome and tense. Cannot wait for part 2
Chris Nolan is the director who owns time; he just lends it out to people
«The best movie I've ever seen that I've been disappointed by» is likely a good summary. I did enjoyed it in the theater, no wasted moment, but there is something in the overall act that I can't quite verbalize. Waiting for second part.
This franchise peaked with MI:Fallout.
I agree. But, I still like MI:7.
@@JamesASharp I do too.
Filmento your analysis and film breakdown continues to be second to none! Great video as always!
Content.
I was hoping you'd cover this one! Only thing I was thinking in theaters was how much I'd love a breakdown from your channel
This movie was so good, and exactly for what you highlighted here. I was blown away by how well written this movie is for what's supposed to be an action flick
The writing is woeful, barely a memorable character in seven movies.
@@Bagheadman ur writing is even worse, I don't even remember who you are already as im typing this comment
The two greatest offenses are killing off Isla and having a completely intangible and thus ineffective villain in the AI. How is that good writing?
@@yuqipan7570 what you're describing either makes no sense or is just pure condensed copium. villains usually have presence throughout the film. that's achieved through tension, pacing and a sense of threat. look at mi3 for a good example of that. the ai being intangible doesn't make it any more present or threatening.
ilsas death and the rest of the events are not the making of the ai, they are the making of the writers. she went to her death because the plot demanded it, not because the situation forced her to. her fight scene was also pathetically choreographed. your comment reads as if you can't tell that this is a work of fiction. the threat the ai poses is only relatable and scary if you've spent exactly zero time actually looking at what ai does or thinking through what ai's could and might do. i'm guessing you're in the same boat as tom cruise there, who i would bet was the one who pushed for an ai as a villain.
ai is boring. ai's don't make for good villains usually, because good villains are almost always motivated by some relatable emotion. they are exciting and scary, because they act in ways we understand. an ai has no motivations other than the one it's programmed to have. they don't feel greed or rage or pain. the writers know the ai is too boring on it's own, so they introduce gabriel who is pretty effective as a villain.
an ai villain that works is hal 9000 in 2001 a space odyssey. hal works because a) he makes decisions based on his programming and b) because he is menacingly portrayed by douglas rain. either your ai is scary because it doesn't care about you and you're just a necessary sacrifice to complete its mission. non human villains like the alien work for similar reasons. for the entirety of the movie, the entity is essentially only alluded to. it doesn't do much of anything except for taking away from gabriel as the central villain, by making him a pawn.
all of this might even sort of work in a better movie, but the cringe exposition dump at the beginning, the uninspired action throughout and the horrible decision to kill off the best character in the franchise (when you have two characters who fill the same role - guy in the chair - but bring more emotional weight if killed) all make a bad final villain all the more jarring.
just saw the Creator (2h13m) and I legit thought it was at least half an hour longer than Dead Reckoning lol
So not good?
@@adnannaemaz1989 The Creator is a steaming pile of crap in every sense of the word... It was a real let down.
Paramount fumbled big time releasing this a week or so before Barbenheimmer.
"The best movie I've ever seen, that I've been disappointed by"
That's the wording I've been looking for, for the past few months...
Ive seen Oppenheimer and Killers of the Flower Moon. This is still the best movie I have seen all summer/fall
Basically how I felt about Oppenheimer. One of the best movies I have seen this year, but still disappointed because of the long runtime and really no scenes to catch your breath and absorb what just happened.
The most amazing thing about this movie: they finally have a plausible reason for being disavowed. Really enjoyed the movie.
This is 100% legitimately how I watched this movie. It was starting, and suddenly the credits rolled; like a long time later. I was absolutely hooked.
Filmento You’re the best UA-cam film professor ever
Yeah, the crunch filming showed, but they filled it out well. Excellent editing saved them...and that last sequence.
Here's hoping Part Two will be rammed with the Cruise insanity ramped up to Mc11.
I literally only have one problem with the movie and that is the scene where Ilsa dies.
It's not because she dies but because if the "one of them will die tonight" thing. I understand that the AI could predict and account for all actions thing but felt like that part went on for a bit too long, and it was also just a bit boring.
Idk, i can't explain it properly. It felt like a Shakespearean romance rather than a fate they try to avoid but can't.
And yes i know Isla is the love interest but it just didn't work for me.
C'mon!
@@ComedyBros5I think Rebecca just had many films in the pipeline and begged to be let go. "I also think they could have done a better job explaining her sudden disappearance from the rest of the film.
The thing about cutting away to different scene, i thing it had negative effect in the cliff jump stunt. I liked how in fallout, we got to see the stunt being played out with focus.
Negative effect ?
Lmao
I agree. I think they totally botched that stunt in the editing room. You can see the difference in the stunt special they released for marketing. The cliff stunt in that special was way better filmed than in the actual movie. What a shame.
I agree.
I missed some of the MI movies before this one and I wasn't expecting a whole lot from it. But holy crap! The motorcycle cliff jump scene gave me chills and the final train dangling scene had me on the edge of my seat. Like I knew that at least he would live but I wasn't positive about anyone else and I had no clue how he was going to get out of it. I'm actually excited for the second part.
MI7 is far from being a bad movie but what it lacks, I think, to stand out is extraordinary creative ideas.
Almost everything in this movie we've Seen somewhere else a multiple time and you can dial an idea up as much as you want it still is the same Idea.
This movie was slow and that’s what I love about it. Slowing and steady pacing helps brings character, exposition, payoff, and tension

Glad to have Phil back. I watched the whole ad at the end just because his voice makes the channel 👌 That, and those sick edits 😄
I never held my breath so much in a film before, one-off f the most intense climatic masterpieces in seen Tom cruise & his team are incredible.
When I saw the scene with grace and Ethan running across the train and climbing inside the train I thought of the scene from Uncharted 2 when Nathan had to climb out of the train and run across it. Tom cruise should just play older Nathan drake at this point I would love to see it
Tom Cruise never misses. Seeing him save action cinema pleasing the audience and without woke politics is always a delight. Hope it makes a billion.

I hate woke politics too. I prefer to sleep.
Clearly you’ve never seen “The Mummy” 2017
What does woke even mean? (I don't mean the actual definition of the word, I mean this new, second definition, that people use to describe movies nowadays)
@@officialmonarchmusic
Woke stories include, but are not limited to:
Forced inclusivity: turning established characters into something they never were, for example what they did by turning Iceman into gay, after 50 years of the character being straight;
A not forced inclusivity would be creating a new character.
Making the new queer character into a Mary Sue: the new gay character never do wrong, is always right, and everyone who disagrees with them is irredeemable evil scumbag puppy-kicker (most likely a straight white man).
Also, making every straight man in the story a villain.
The train sequence was like a bonus at the end of the film. Better than the much talked about big stunt.
I'm too disappoined with M:I 7 but... still like it A LOT!
I just love this movie. So well made.
Suprised so many people like this movie. Compared to the other entries in the series, this seems to me like a clear step down in quality and one away from what makes Mission Impossible what it is. It only really competes with II in that regard.
I am not even kidding, your "making time your bitch" idea absolutely applies to this video because of how you used scenes from the movie. even this 20 min video felt like it went by so quickly
Ths video is the exact reason why I loved the film. It's 3 hours long but it doesn't feel like it's 3 hours long. It always feels like it's on the move and not wasting time.
I'm a third of the way in and this video is already brilliant. Filmento, you always go above and beyond on these!
I was thinking that the movie was only halfway through when it ended. Amazing, considering the 2 hours and 45 min of runtime. I was totally lost in time when watching this movie the first time
Usually I hate car chase scenes, because it's just a series of jump-cuts of things that we have seen many times before. However I enjoyed the car chase because it added something new(-ish).
Ngl, I love the Mission Impossible films but I was kinda underwhelmed by Dead Reckoning. Probably because Fallout was so hard to follow.
I honestly did not get bored watching this
Erica Sloan : You use a scalpel, I prefer a hammer.
The next video would be, Oppenheimer: anatomy of a failure
Yep. I have no problem rewatching this again and for sure enjoy it.
The train fight scene was awesome, though!
That movie was an actual masterpiece. Best MI movie and it's not close
@@r1l426 What's your feelings with how Ilsa was handled? I think that's my biggest issue with all of it. Such a major character just thrown away and done dirty!
It's my favorite movie of 2023, but Fallout, and possibly even Rogue Nation are slightly better. It's still incredible though.
Is it fuck the best!.
Ghost protocol, rogue nation and fallout are mikes better. This film is way too long, Ilsa death is badly handled (even though I think she’s alive), the action scenes are really badly shot, and the cliff jump is a blink and you’ll miss it type. Tom jumps, and bang he’s on the train.
That intro with Severance is awesome! One thing tho, you could have left Mark S' (sadly forgot the actor's name) face as it was because him and Tom Cruise look so much alike ^^

Went to watch this with my friends the latter half of this movie have us on the edge of our seat. Can’t wait for the the next one for reals

I loved this movie! I didn’t really care about Fallout... that movie was okay, but this one👌
The airport scene was my favourite ❤
I don't like the idea that Grace is meant to be a new love interest for Ethan I'll be so disappointed if they follow through with that in the next film. I prefer their dynamic to be more brother and sister or mentor and mentee.
They traded Ilsa for captain Peggy 😒
Benji and luther were barely involved
I've never seen Ethan simp so hard before
The pickpocket shit was way overused
Mission impossible dumps on John Wick in every single aspect ..
The scale & scope is on a different level here
@@scottbarkley496 Each to their own I guess. Where John wick falls in story it reigns supreme in combat and dead reckonings story was incomplete and like filmento said very convoluted so it doesn’t even have that leverage over John wick anymore.

Dead Reckoning was my favorite MIssion Impossible movie so far.

It wasn’t perfect but it was incredibly refreshing for a movie with a large cast to do well after a glut of super hero movies
I don't know why, but after watching the movie, I kept thinking that the negotiation scene was by far my favourite. It's low on action, but really tense and interesting, despite not much actually happening.
The mix of the rising music and claustrophobic cinematography makes the scene VERY tense.
Glad to see you talk about this movie, I really enjoyed it but something didn’t quite click
As always, your meme game is on point

If anyone's asking for where the scene of the intro came from, it's from Severance. I think everyone should give it a watch as it's so underrated!
