That accident sent production into a tailspin that ended in a long break. Long enough for Cavill to have shaved and grown a new mustache, no problem. THAT is wildly hilarious to me.
Here's a bit of trivia: the HALO jump sequence took 106 attempts because of the difficulties in trying to capture the scene at perfect golden hour. Often times, the sun would set too quickly before or during the take, meaning the ARRIFLEX 235 (IMAX camera) exposure settings were now incorrect. Since they could only attempt it once a day, the sequence became far and away the most expensive part of shooting, with Paramount/Bad Robot executives growing displeased as it reaped more and more from the film's available budget. I really like Henry Cavill's turn as Walker in this because the character is just this big iron cannonball of a man who scowls through every obstacle in his way. Sometimes when someone makes a heel turn in a film the actor suits one guise better than the other, but I like him before and after the twist. He's believable as the big jock Ethan initially ends up saddled with. I like how they inevitably have to start managing to sync up, like how they manage to work with each other and around each other in the bathroom fight. Then when it turns out he's a baddie he just fucks off. He just has a big dramatic powerwalk to his evil getaway helicopter. I love it. I agree that the moustache is a good look, but I particularly like how well it serves a big scowl in both modes.
I vividly remember being in the cinema when its cuts to white when the bombs reach zero, then gradually fading back into the shot of Ethan on the ledge with the sunset fake out. My brain within the span of a second went: 'oh crap, did the bombs go off?' 'oh wait, of course they didn't' 'shit, they had me right to the last second, this is a really good movie'

Nope that would be ghost protocol, Ethan hunt never needed a wife and she certainly didn’t need to derail this film’s third act by turning up for no apparent reason
This is one of the movies that really wowed me when I saw it in the theater. The long-ass Paris car chase was just so good. I remember at one point, I was just like "Oh. This just keeps going. Fucking awesome." I also think that they did a phenomenal job with the sound design. Every time a character fires a gun, it feels like there's a real concussion to it, not just the lazy generic "bang" that you hear so much. The cast also did a really great job. Henry Cavill and Rebecca Ferguson are absolutely perfect for these movies. And, I will admit, they kind of got me with the nuke fake-out at the end. I think this movie got away with it though. It didn't feel cheap, and everything had built up to it so well, that for a moment, I was like "Damn. I guess we went there." That kind of thing really wouldn't have worked in any lesser of a movie, even Ghost Protocol.
I love how this movie and Rogue Nation use the Mission Impossible theme less sparingly than the others, like the previous ones did that thing where they’ll play the first two notes every now and then but waiting for a big moment to play it in full. Also the whole sequence at the end with the helicopter and the cliff is the best looking action scene ever imo
In Fallout, they even use the “We’re doing a mission” theme from the show, during the helicopter chase. I could be wrong, but I think Fallout and MI3 are the only movies to use it.

Director Christopher McQuarrie said that Tom Cruise had really wanted to take the stunts in this franchise to the next level and would often reference classic Jackie Chan Golden Harvest movies as a big inspiration in terms of the in-camera action set-pieces that they aimed to achieve. In particular, he cited Police Story 3: Supercop as a point of reference when it came to Fallout’s big helicopter set-piece, as well as Armour of God 2: Operation Blue Condor for the scene where he jumps from one building to the other, (coincidentally, both Jackie and Tom injured their foot performing this same stunt). However, for obvious insurance purposes, Tom was required to wear safety wires whereas Jackie Chan did it without. Many of these similarities eventually led to various members of the production team jokingly referring to the film as “Blue Harvest” which was also coincidentally the working title for the 1977 film Star Wars.

When watching this for the first time, the sixth movie of a 22 year old movie franchise spun-off from 50 year old TV show, I genuienly thought the world was going to end. That's how good this film is at creating tension.
That bathroom fight scene is my favorite scene in the movie, and I think it is hands down the best choreography in the series and some of the best that I've ever seen,
So apparently in the scsne where the truck gets knocked into the ocean and the villain has to hold his breath you can see him do quick breaths and then one deep breath before going under. This is to cause hyperventilation which convinces your body there is more breath in your lungs so you can breath longer underwater.
The biggest takeaway I’ve gotten from the Mission Impossible movies is that the IMF is run by idiots. Seriously, Ethan goes rogue in like, 5 out of the 7 movies (he goes rogue in Dead Reckoning, Part One), and he still saves the day and stops the villains. If he just followed orders from the idiots running IMF, then millions of people would have died in each of those movies lol.

I had a free admission ticket and I got off work early today, so I decided to go and catch the afternoon showing of Dead Reckoning at the theatre nearby. I have no comment on how the movie actually was because my judgement has been clouded by me leaving my wallet with about $200 and all my cards in it at the ticket kiosk. Didn’t realize until after the movie was over (3 hrs later)! Checked under all the seats and asked the staff if anyone had returned it but no luck. Ended up being the most expensive movie I’ve ever seen and probably the last time I actually go to the movie theatre
Well to be fair, Tom Cruise does go rogue when he changes the heist plan to kidnap Sean Harris' character. He doesn't want to kill the innocent police, so he just shoves the transport truck into the river.
Something interesting I’ve never seen anyone mention about this movie, the main villain never blinks, not once. Also does anyone else remember the first trailer where they took a shot of Tom flying the helicopter and made it look like he was about to crash head first into a truck? Hilarious.
This is not only the best one, it is the best one by MILES (imo) the pacing is incredible, the cast are amaing the action scene are awesome, like i swear the middle 40 minutes is just action. Brilliant villain, the bathroom scene alone is brillant, i just love this film... also rip blue harvest and thre rodney bloke
I’m just here for Mason’s fascination with Henry Cavill’s mustache. And cuz I like these guys and this is a great movie. But mostly the mustache thing.
I loved Bohemian Rhapsody. It was simultaneously terrible, tacky and great. It wasn't "so bad it's good", it was just like, "this is what Freddy would've loved, probably, if he watched soap operas".
I had a dream where my boss tried to shame me at my job (delieveries) by having Tom Cruise show up to compete with me.. while hiding my vehicle, packages, and keys from me. I texted my boss that morning to tell her how upset I was for the unfair treatment and using Tom Cruise to show me up. She promptly apologized and I went in to work that day. I haven't forgiven Tom Cruise.

I love the convo between WB and paramount 😂 great editing 😂
i hope james is okay after that really dangerous and cool stunt that only tom "the cruise" cruise could pull off
Something interesting I’ve never seen anyone mention about this movie, the main villain never blinks, not once.
Also does anyone else remember the first trailer where they took a shot of Tom flying the helicopter and made it look like he was about to crash head first into a truck? Hilarious.
The truck scene was filmed but cut from the final film. The decision to cut it was made after that first trailer was released.
I remember doing the Leo meme in the cinema as soon as Alana mentions her mother loves paradox’s!
Which is nuts cause the Leo meme wasn't even a thing yet! You did a meme from a movie that didn't even exist yet!
@@jakek1735 you could say Leo did the meme of me!
I personally, would simply not accept the mission, rip to those guys
Thank goodness Ben decided to blur the face of He Who Shan’t Be Named in that RLM clip.
