- This Slovenian Soldier Ration Type C is the lighter weight single meal alternative to their 24hr Combat Ration. With components of utmost quality and some being absolutely delicious - coupled with a high powered FRH and some slammin' coffee, this is probably one of the better single meal military rations currently in production.

You can get the canned fish in all major supermarkets in Slovenia. It's a pretty popular meal when camping and they have lots of different flavours. Eat it myself quite often and loving it.
Forget Slovenia, You can get it in pretty much all of the ex-Yugo states.

Just started intermittent fasting (only eating inside an 8 hour window each day, then eat NOTHING even black coffee 16 hours each day) probably not a good time to watch MRE reviews LOL I'm starving.

Thanks for mention Steve and thanks for the review. This is very strange ration, maybe it's one time deal. Because my friend from Slovenian Army always cries how his officers don't allow him to buy ammunition by himself because they almost have any in exercises. He always complains for the lack of things in the forces. Looking forward to see that Type C 24h review. I love Slovenian rations, now with updated menus even more, it's just 1 poultry menu instead of 2 hahah. Best Regards from Croatia from C-R team.

I am wondering if this is just a very limited run ration as I've never seen it before and only one seller ever had it so far.
Interesting insight there too - you always have information that noone else really has in this community and you've provided a wealth of it. I also look forward to doing the 24hr version. Slovenia makes quality rations every time. Sounds like they have heard your poultry cries of disdain.. hah!

Slovenian Army has gone downhill since the time I served. Now it's short on everything from ammunition to basic supplies. And their gear is literally falling apart. It's a disgrace.

Wow, i am a Slovene and didn't even know we have our own type of MRE. Well, to be honest, why would we since we have only 12 soldiers, 3 fighter planes from 60s and a tank with blown barrel.

Hahah such an underrated movie. I used to watch it alot as a kid and watched for the first time in 18 years recently. For a supposedly B grade Sci fi movie from 1997 it sure holds up better than most movies today, especially the graphics and effects.
I would like to know more.... about the MRE's issued to the Starship Troopers! They always leave the mundane but often most interesting parts of military service out of those futuristic movies.
@@maershkinschrabs7597 yeah you can still watch it after 20 years, that movie has some kind of soul and charisma. It's like a long recruit commercial, after watching I just want to join mobile infantry to do my part and fight for our future.

He did once say he was going to do a camping MRE review
there's nothing to test, they are portable. also, his current format is preferable and more easily replicated. it's easier to eliminate variables such as sound and light among other things. i would personally prefer to see him do a video with a Veteran reviewing an MRE from the era said Veteran served. maybe review that veterans favorite, or rather most memorable, MRE. i think that could be really cool.

Great review as always. Can't say much that you haven't already. So, I'll use this comment to tell you that your music evokes a long lost feeling to me, that warm, cozy aesthetic of the mid 90's-early 2000's prepackaged futurism I'd see on old Packard Bell computers and products littered around my dad's office when he'd take me there. It summons images of logos and branding that may or may not have existed, but take me back not just to my childhood- but to rare moments otherwise forgotten. I hope we see more of it in the future.
Man thank you for that. That is exactly what I got for in a lot of the tunes written. Stuff is all part of a growing body of work that will all get released someday. But until then, just part of the videos here. But you really nailed a large portion of the intended delivery and essence of what the music embodies. If it can take you back to those simpler times.. nice.

My late wife was Slovenian. They like tiny cups of coffee, just a little bigger than demi-tasse cups. I always had to order two cups when we ate out to get about the same as a regular American cup of coffee. A lot of Slovenians are coffee connoisseurs so I'm not surprised that coffee was good. They are also big fish eaters so all their canned fish is pretty high quality. I was surprised to see the vegetarian entree. Slovenians love their meat. Except for some millennial hipsters, there aren't many vegetarians in Slovenia.

@@CrombatRations Rent prices skyrocketed in the past few years and I'm trying to find a job in a small town where I grew up and my parents still live. It's actually closer to Rijeka (where one of my cousins lives) than Koper.
Anyway, all history and geography set aside, I really hope companies like Delamaris, Kolinska, Podravka and others go on and don't die or disintegrate into oblivion. It's tragicomedy that it's foreign stores like Lidl and Hofer (Aldi) that sometimes feature Kavabon, Gorenjka, Cedevita, Eurokrem, etc in their retro packaging. As a kid, I ate a lot of Helf candies. Then Mercator had them available for a few months in 2006 and I haven't seen them since.
Yeah, pretty much like that regarding coffee is in the rest of ex-Yugoslavian countries. No offence, but we don't like a half-liter of soy-latte-pumpkin-spice watered down abomination which goes by the name of coffee in many US chain "coffee shops" :)

Steve, this is my first time commenting on your videos, but my wife and I absolutely love your videos. I've had tons and tons of MRE's on deployment/in the field. (I actually prefer them over alot of things) I have been excited to try the U.S pizza MRE but never get lucky enough to snag one.

Was just in Ljubljana and Ptuj!!! Slovenia is not known for their cuisine. HOWEVER!!! their wine is amazing! Cheap, and very good! Germanic whites and amazing table reds! Now for fun facts! Slovenia has a population of about 2.5 million people, takes about 2 hours to cross lengthwise and 3-4 hours width wise! Everyone speaks great English and all signs are in English also! They are taught English as a secondary language along with German (Austria has a huge influence on them). Also most of those flavors and beverage components are made in a facility known as ETOL (Frutarom) d.d. in Skofja Vas
Our food is pretty good. I'm sorry you don't feel the same way. Also some of the wines are unique to our region

Is it just me, or do foreign FRH systems seem so much better than the US provided heaters? I’ve yet to get a US FRH to actually heat thoroughly any of the two pouch menus. It’s bad enough trying to get two pouches in the bag without it ripping, and then almost impossible to get the FRH wet out and heating properly. Meanwhile, this bag has plenty of room, and an FRH that makes me worry about burning the surface it’s placed on. So much more effective!

Hello friend, as a mexican who has done his military service, there is no such thing as a mexican MRE, we eat in cafeterias located in several parts of the city, and the food is prepared in large chunks as the ones in the school caffeterias. :)

Well, here is a thing... This fish can is made in Slovenia and this products exists in our stores for quite a few decades and we love it. Very tasty and very good quality. So, while you were dissapointed on main meal... Of corse, it is product of Spain. I cannot tell, if they have poor food quality in general, but still, Slovenian food is famous for excellent quality. In our country, there is a lot of restaurants with unbelievable good food.. Cheers from Slovenia.. ;-

Awesome review Steve1989, it awesome to see what soldiers in other countries across the world are eating in the field. Looks like from your foreign ration reviews, most country’s military personnel are being fed and supplied well.
I think Napoleon said that the army marches on its stomach so supplying the troops with good food seems to be a sensible choice
