I know I've said it before, but these MRE reviews truly set the standard. The pacing, thoroughness, commentary, bravery, completeness, and enthusiasm is remarkable.
Hey everyone, it's great to be back with a couple new videos. A slight technical issue almost kept this video from coming out before the end of this month. Stay tuned for some outdoor and also very rare & old rations next in February! In the meantime here are two rations to cap off January (Just released a small Thai MRE so check that one out too). I bought this Hungarian 24hr Ration from mremountain.com/ He may have some more for sale. Check out his MRE shop he is always getting new stuff in.
When my son was young in the late 80s or early 90s we stopped at store that had real MREs. My son wanted to try them, so we purchased a few. They were not cheap. I remember telling him they were more than a Happy Meal and no toy. One or two had the cutest little bottles of Tabasco in them, I kept those for years. It was fun to see how soldiers ate. I wonder if my son remembers the experience at all, hope so.
My uncle is a hungarian soldier. They call these MRE packages "Brown Death" :D But it's actually looks real good. I think that meat spread is delicious, glad you liked it Steve! Nice review as usual, keep up the good work
Hi! I from Hungary. Good to see you trying my country MRE food! I will send you another MRE pack. I hope you will try it. ohhh one more thing. The Hungarian army give new name for this MRE. " brown death"
Taking a break from my calculus homework right now to watch this and I must say it's just what my weary mind needed. Steve your warmth, charm and genuine enthusiasm is the cure for the stresses of the student life, never stop doing what you're doing.
Steve's videos are helping me through algebra rn. Next semester I have to take 2 math courses so I'm not sure anything will be able to keep me alive through that but I hope Steve stays around to try!

On your first HDF mre ever it tastes okay but you just hate it afterwards and sure as hell if you ate it a couple times you'll feel you want to puke after the smell hits you. Your descriptions of taste are so amazingly on point, I recognize the store brand of each and every one of those food items just by your description. If you love our raisins, imagine our wines. Our grapes are amazing in any form.
The seasoning mix you have put in the stew is 'Vegeta' dried seasoning mix, from the Croatian company Podravka, which also made the food you tried in the Croatian MRE! Have a great day, Steve. Looking forward to your new series.

I’m very impressed by Steve’s pouring skills. I’m a Food Scientist who has worked in a lab since 2007 and my pouring skills are awful. Without a funnel a third of my sample ends up on the table and or floor.
The first thing to notice is the huge size of the packages considering what they contain. The sultanas/raisins are probably a different variety of grape to what get used in the U.S. The Hungarians make some stunning sweet fortified wines called tokays.
@@coltm4a186 A 5- or 6-put Tokaj from Hungary will be expensive, but there will be cheaper ones around. Due to legislation, fortified wines made outside of Hungary can't be called "Tokaj"/"Tokay", but they are basically made the same way. Brown Brothers and a couple of smaller wineries around the Ovens Valley near Millawa in Victoria do very acceptable ones. This area is also a good cheese-producing area, so a couple of days spent sipping and munching at various cellar doors is a good way to spend your holidays.
What truly blows my mind is the fact that your knife is so damn sharp in every episode that I have watched. And I have watched quite a few episodes with you having different knives and they all just slice through like butter. I like your style.
