2020 Russian Prisoner 24 Hour Ration Review Tushonka Vegetable Caviar Convict MRE Meal Taste Testing

  • A very difficult to acquire package of food given to Russian suspects, convicts, and prisoners during transit or for when regular hot meals aren't feasible. Featuring a ton of hard tack, sugar, a couple tea bags, and a few halfway nourishing meat and grain kasha type items, along with a vegetable caviar - or rendered puree rather. It's some pretty delectable squash, carrot, and vegetable oil spread which really is the star of the show, along with that beef tushonka.
Truly a fascinating ration that you don't get to see every day.

The lengths Steve will go to for a ration. I mean, just imagine going all the way to Russia, committing a crime, turning yourself in, processing into a prison, establishing dominance among the other prisoners, digging a tunnel, breaking out and going on the lamb, then paying off a boat captain to obtain passage back to the states...
    ...just to get lunch.
    Mad respect, Steve. Mad respect.

In 1993 I worked as a labourer on a construction site in Russia for a month and the tea was literally twigs from a tea bush, no leaves at all, and even that tea dust looks like a improvement. The only saving grace was the enormous sack of sugar crystals we had, to dump into the tea for energy. As the hotel food provided was borscht twice a day, those sugar crystals provided most of our calories.

Have you ever heard the term “samovar”? This is a device for making Russian tea. A heating source below, a kettle above. And at the top there is a teapot with extremely strong tea extract. You dilute the tea extract with the hot water to make drinkable tea. The extremely concentrated tea extract has nothing to do with prison, but is the completely normal way Russians enjoy tea. The fact that there are people who drink the tea extract pure... well, everyone as they wish.

That is a very interesting choice of a ration, and as a Russian person I am pleasantly surprised by you shining the light onto this reality.
Many political prisoners of the system are placed into so called Penalty Isolators, where the rations are cut ever shorter, and no boiling water is allowed for the 7-14 days within the Pens.
Additionally, no hot water, cold wet rooms with no windows, no bunk-bed apart from 8-hour night shift.
    You get the image.
I do wish you the best and I do pray for health and safety of all wrongly imprisoned, as well as regular inmates, despite their ways, the conditions are not humane.

      Or
Stuff you buy at the shopping centre, packets that break, stuff that goes off, crap thats heavy and the hassle of nothing fitting easily in your pack.
I think people think poorly of MREs due to the shit talk of soldiers whinging about MREs from the 70s and 80s that made them terribly constipated.
Modern MREs are just so superior an option for when you're outside of a civilisation.

@@RT-qd8yl we have okay food in our county jail. Full trays of home-cooked food for supper at 4:30 p.m. Breakfast is a little light at 4:30 a.m. and they give a sandwich then for lunch.

What an actual weird experience. World of MREs is definitely a window for all sorts of experiences. This is why I love this channel.

I suspect we will see more of these in the future. There are so many non military uses for MRE's after all. Camping, refugees, field workers like linemen working in the middle of nowhere and so on.
