Dr. Melva Costen: Excellence in Theological Education Award, 2024

The late Dr. Melva Costen will be honored with the Excellence in Theological Education Award at General Assembly 226 in Salt Lake City in late June 2024. Costen, who died at the age of 90 in 2023, was a leading voice in church worship and song, particularly in the African American church in the PC(USA). Her recognition will be only the second person to be honored posthumously for this award.
