That is also Tim Keller. His heart is so amazing. When there is a book I don’t understand, I know it’s because my heart isn’t big enough; so, the first thing I do is go and seek a sermon from Tim Keller, because I KNOW his heart was big enough, and I know that through the grace of God, he will use Tim Keller to show me what I am not seeing. I miss him, so much! 😢

I found Mr. Keller on the Audible podcast series a month ago. I've gone through many of the sermons, I listen to a few everyday while at work and on the way home. It has truly been a blessing to me and I have shared all I've learned from the sermons with my family. Reading the comments above, it seems Mr. Keller has gone to be with the Lord. He will be missed. His sermons have insight on the wisdom of God that no one has shared with me before. The sermons date back to 1989, the year after I was born, yet I did not find these insights until recently. I'm very grateful to God for giving us Mr. Keller's sermons and giving the insight, knowledge and wisdom to share with us.

Each time I watch these lessons/series especially these last series by Tim, I am grateful to have watched the life of someone who emptied himself, giving all of himself to serve the church of Christ and be a servant of all. This is worth emulating for every believer and more so, for all servants of Christ! Indeed, Tim had every reason to say, ‘I am ready to see Jesus’.

There is something beautiful about this being the final video that Tim Keller made for this series. I'd never considered how Job's suffering and the way that God restored him was foreshadowing the life, suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus.

How appropriate that this reflection on Job was Pastor Keller’s last video! James chapter 5 is prophetic and encourages we who will suffer to remember the testimony of Job - that our God has compassion His people. I love you so much…. ‘95, NYC , Redeemer Presbyterian. An invitation to Musical performance and songs on Love. The position that we seek a love- in music and poetry, that isn’t to be had by a human being… the assertion that it IS to be had-- as evidence for God. That was the first time I had incontrovertible evidence… the second time I went, worried I was gonna go to “just church.” That was when the Spirit broke me down and reached out to me when I wasn’t doing anything.
    My FIRST testimony.

After reading Pastor Tim Keller's 'faith and work' , I listen to his sermons with interest. The senior pastor of the church I attend often mentions his deep spiritual sermons during his sermons. It was not easy to catch the meaning for me with my weak English, but after recently focusing on studying English listening methods from Korean teachers who live in USA, I am thankful that I can hear them much better. I am so thankful for these 18 episodes of the “Discovering the Gospel” series. While in them we can see Dr. Keller’s physical decline, it does not eclipse his continued fervor to enable people to see the gospel and to see their need for the gospel in every day life. Perhaps Kathy would consider picking up the threads of these entries going forward or be part of a team of folks who will complete the remaining books of the Bible with insights into the breath - and breadth - of the gospel that is woven throughout each one. Thank you for this exercise of encouragement and enlightenment.

Didn't come across him til close to or around his death, really struggling spiritually, this series popped up, realized it stopped at job. I have so many questions. So many people told me to read job becuz of how my life was playing out, one difference, i dont know that im righteous or truly saved, i think im like the job satan tempted, that said hes just following u becuz of what you do for him, I've been suffering physically for a decade and am struggling more and more spiritually, so much trauma and PTSD, i think ive followed god out of performance and fear and what i want vs having a revelation of the gospel, i dont remember if it was ever truly shared with me, lot of memory loss, i want to believe but its so hard to grasp and understand now in my mental state and with all ive been and go thru, i wish i had someone to talk to, you will know they love me by how they obey, i suck, god will work things together for good for those that love him, doesnt appear i live him and I don't know how 😭 afraid of dying and going to hell becuz my heart/motives arent right and I'm that sick , need help and prayer.

When I first became a Believer I was given The New Testament, and how God was the God of love. When I started reading the Old Testament and how God was telling the Israelites to put people to the sword,I prayed to Him telling Him I didn't like this version of Him and in a very similar way He rebuked me and how dare I question why He did and does things. I cried when I told Him I didn't like Him but He honoured me and it really taught me that God answers prayers that are giving in Truth and not false humility and empty words.

At 8:30, where Tim says God wants us to share our grief, my mind want to both Revelation 3:15-16 “‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. and Matthew 7:23b I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ We need to have a two way friendship with God, bring him into our, perhaps messy lives, sharing with him all, or more than we share with anyone else.

It was the book of Job which took my doubts whether God created the world or if maybe modern science is ahead of the bible. I realized the bible was and is ahead of science. I understood that parts of modern science are a house of cards built on claims they can't prove. That was the time when I started to belief with my whole heart, it's now 8 years back. In the meantime I have experienced both sunny and cloudy days. At the moment they are more cloudy than sunny. Sometimes I have the same questions as Job because of I can't understand him, things seem to make no sense. Nevertheless I have learned to love him and tell him what I think. I tell him I don't understan him but I know I am loved and that I love him. I know he wants my best.
More and more I am getting homesick for heaven. I just want to see him and be with him in a world without questions in a world of grace, holiness and no more tears but joy.

I often wonder about Calvinists in that what's the point of administering the Gospel, which literally means good news or glad tidings if in preaching it never fully accomplishes its means. In other words, if it's truly good news, how is only a limited elect group of God's own creation reconciled to him while all the rest (the majority of his creation) are to be consigned to endless and pointless suffering in the afterlife, and what's more, how on earth does this glorify God in any reasonable sense?!
My prayers go out to Tim Keller, but as it turns out, I'm a Universalist, so my overall perspective is positive! All who want to talk, I'm open, just keep it friendly, please, and thanks!

I believe there's a misunderstanding on the 'elect' when it comes to calvinism. Everyone is offered the gift of eternal life but not all will accept it. The one's who do are the elect regardless of denomination (except Mormon and JWs or other cults). It's more about the concept of Time and how God is outside of Time and sees everything (beginning and end of material world) all at once the same way we can read the end of a good book we know and skip the rest. God doesn't give salvation to some and damn the others, it's offered to all, but the way the calvinist doctrine of predestination comes across to some it sounds like it's a closed club and you're not invited. Calvinists still witness to people and try to reach the lost, but at the end of the day most will not follow the narrow path and it's sad. There are some calvinists who believe they are the 'chosen ones' and are arrogant and prideful but that is a wrong teaching of pre destination and how the elect works. God bless.

God doesn't declare the end from the beginning and gets everything that he pleases (Isaiah 46:10) so that some will merely free willingly choose their fate. Our decision has nothing to do with God's will! If God elects something, it's a done deal! There is nothing we do to change it! The Gospel is that Christ Jesus died for the sins of the world, but each in their own order (1 Corinthians 15:23) and the result of this is universal salvation. The first who are Christ's are those in the Body of Christ, but not limited to those who are reconciled to God (yes, the elect/ALL/BOTH JEWS AND GREEKS!), which will take place after the consummation, after Christ's thousand year reign. God wills the salvation of all (1 Timothy 2:4) and God gets everything that pleases Him (Isaiah 46:10), just as stated from above, after he declared and willed, and determined and ELECTED all nations to be saved/reconciled and restored to the FATHER! God can't be ALL IN ALL (1 Corinthians 15:28) if most remain lost, or even ONE remains lost endlessly! I'll see my mother again, you'll see everyone you've ever known again, and we'll all be subject to the Father, just as Christ will be subject to the Father (1 Corinthians 15:28, again, just like above mentioned!!!!). GOOD NEWS can't be anything less!!!!

@@jasonegeland1446 so universalism is you believe that everybody, regardless of who accepts or rejects Christ and the gospel, is elected? So it doesn't matter what religion, world view, or what choices we make ethically, everybody goes to heaven? Why would anyone even be a Christian if they could do what they want in life? It could lead to nihilism. What about Matthew 7:21-23 or the parable of the sower, or half the other sayings and warnings Jesus made calling all to repent? Forgive me for so many questions, I'm just curious because not a lot of Christians hold your view.

By Robert Winkler Burke … breakthrough on Book of Job… I must not hurt huge Leviathan,
As it swoops down on me!
    Dragon’s flame kills and maims,
    I’ll soon be history!
Oh, woe is me! Oh, woe is me!
I have but a wooden sword!
From the cross, that victory tree,
    Of Christ, my humble Lord!
Yet, I must not hurt Leviathan,
Its skin is tough and brittle!
    His pride is ridiculous big,
And I am less than little!
    We fight for hours,
Oh, we fight for days on end!
    Then, when it’s over,
    The beast gets up again!
My puny wooden sword damages it not,
    I’m like a grasshopper against a giant!
Then it lays down, coughs up its heart,
Upon its tongue, now on me: reliant!
    Leviathan now relies on me,
To treat its heart with care!
No longer enemies, but fast friends,
    I approach on God’s dare!
Oh, woe is me! Oh, woe is me!
I have but a wooden sword!
From the cross, that victory tree,
    Of Christ, my humble Lord!
    With my too-small wooden sword,
I walk into the danger zone, such biting teeth of dread!
To the heart, now on the tongue,
I gently touch my sword, out gush bright drops of red!
From the sword come good drops,
    Of God’s ancient-wisdom self-sacrifice,
    Then Beast wakes up changed,
Swallows heart and renews its old vice!
Cruelly taking advantage of my nearness,
Leviathan scorches me in full-blown rage!
I fight him off again with wooden sword,
Behold! Beast doth weaken! says my Page.
For my Page greatly knows what’s going on,
Not long ago, HE was THE bad Leviathan!
You see, we fought for years! Way too long!
His dual was an excruciating marathon!
But after a thousand drops from God’s cross,
My Page was, of Beast, set free!
    Now he’s learning to be God’s Man-of-War,
Who fights evil, just like me!
Oh, woe is me! Oh, woe is me!
I have but a wooden sword!
From the cross, that victory tree,
    Of Christ, my humble Lord!
After days and months and years,
My Page and I have succeeded!
    Leviathan whom we fought,
    Is full humble now: defeated!
My Page has become a Swordsman,
    That Leviathan: HIS own Page,
I have left off sword for pen,
    That you understand this age!
So then, pride of religion and its blinding selfish-rigidness,
    Is killing man!
Just as loving kindness, humility, patience and flexibility,
    Kills Leviathan!
Job learned this In That Day,
    Of his: long ago!
Now we must all learn the same!
    You do not know?
    Holy flexibility,
    Is where Christ-in-You is at!
    You’ll remember the fight,
When the Rigid lose all that!
    You’ll remember the fight,
When, as rigid Leviathan, you with great enmity: hated your betters!
    Who took your blows nobly,
And with kind, wooden, bloody swords, removed your blind fetters.
How you’ll hate that forgiving blood of Jesus,
Applied drops at a time on your stony heart!
Until you see it is not the end,
    But the Christ-in-You: Page-Warrior start!
You’ll then, Rigid Ones, be on the,
    Other side of the sword!
You’ll say, as Job did, I repent!
    In dust and ashes, Lord!
And if you were particularly mean,
And hurtful to your dear-brave Warrior-Savior,
God will give you a willow-wimpy sword,
To fight Leviathan, inside of your neighbor!
Oh, woe is me! Oh, woe is me!
I have but a wooden sword!
From the cross, that victory tree,
    Of Christ, my humble Lord!
    You might say,
Well, it serves me just about right!
    Rip me up,
    Leviathan! It’s time to fight!
I shall not return evil for evil,
    From proud, religiously-rigid man,
He may hurt me, but me never: him,
He’ll get what I have in me: I AM!
    The great I AM,
Wants to live in us all!
    In That Day it’s,
A strange work: yet not small!
    It’s a BIG thing,
    When Leviathan pride dies!
    And Christ-in-You,
    Trumpets: loud victory cries!
    Yet and even much so,
Your pride in all this will be choked: by your own reins,
    By the smallish sword,
You’ll be given, to do the large work that remains!
Oh, woe is me! Oh, woe is me!
I have but a wooden sword!
From the cross, that victory tree,
    Of Christ, my humble Lord!
You might ask me, where did I learn all this?
    That it’s a pride-fight and that Leviathan isn’t a dinosaur true!
I learned it by reading the Book of Job,
From the Warrior-Prophet, not a Page, whose name is Elihu!
    This great, but young, Warrior-Prophet,
Had heard so much talk of churchy-religious pride,
Elihu wrote all of Job’s book,
Yet pride in work: egoless, he did prodigious hide!
    Elihu hid his authorship,
    And prophetic voice with Job!
    That following Workmen,
Would put this in their brain’s globe…
Religious-Pride is Leviathan! (It’s a smallish issue with beginners!)
Leviathan is Religious-godly-Pride! (Clericalism makes biggest sinners!)
I write this, as your proud author,
Oops! That beast is hard to hide!
Where is my bent, old wooden sword?
God, I lay my heart upon my swag tongue!
Knowledge puffeth me up… in pride,
Touch me now, oh blood of God’s Son!
Oh, woe is me! Oh, woe is me!
I have but a wooden sword!
From the cross, that victory tree,
    Of Christ, my humble Lord!
    But you protest,
Only Jesus! Jesus alone! He alone (ALONE!) is your Savior!
    Never you’d let,
Yourself acknowledge: He can be greater in your neighbor?
    Can you, then, see now,
What has been your, and all of milk Churchianity’s, problem?
    Sub-taught leaders vow,
To never slay their damnable, supercilious, god-pride goblin?
Even tho you say: just reading the bible sans leaven,
And listening to, or becoming, another Milk-way, Mandarin Madman,
And with Jesus, stuck somehow (by you?) in heaven,
Works to expunge pride? Nope! It makes naught but bad-bad bad-men.
So swallow your pride, oh religious daughter or son,
Prepare to meet your shorter, younger, older, taller… Much Betters,
Where dead body is, vultures on you will pick on,
Your religious pride. So honor who removes necrotic, hubris fetters.
You know, only Christ-in-You (in one) can do it,
Almost kill a soul, non-violently, to get rid of religious pride… to move it,
Eyes to see, ears to hear… are a better shoe fit,
Pride kills. Humility heals. Hear ye, All pride-bots so ill-begot… get to it!
Oh, woe is me! Oh, woe is me!
I have but a wooden sword!
From the cross, that victory tree,
    Of Christ, my humble Lord
