Plenty of women do too. This video is not even a man thing, so why are you turning it to that. We are sick of the gender victim playing and making things about gender and race all the time. Just enjoy the video.
Mans most painful thought would be that life has a purpose for itself and human biengs. This isn’t the case, life has no particular wants or needs at all, men have a great need to believe that thier lives have a meaning.....its not so 🌱
@@perle13930 the concept Life itself requires there to be procreation, so procreation and everything attached to that could be observed as being meaningful.
How is it that you manage to pump out reflections eerily pertinent to my life at the exact same time I seem to be in need of them?? I've been struggling to be up at 4:30am recently when I had no trouble in the past. Thought I was going back to my night owl tendencies. Purpose. I need to remember my purpose. Thank you for the reminder. Powerful as always.
I nearly fainted last night because of my anxiety. I’m super tired right now . I hope you realize that you help me tremendously. Thank you so much. Please never stop doing what you’re doing and being who you are! People like you are so needed in this world! ☀️
I've experienced the fainting too. Such a scary disorienting feeling. And it's especially hard if you live without any friends or family around. sometimes just telling myself "that you're okay and it's stressful but not impossible" over and over helps me fall asleep. But anxiety is SUCH a bitch I hope you find some good coping solutions for yourself 🫂🫶🏾❤️
Not sure how I got here, I was watching a video on how to make a ricotta cheesecake before this one, but I am glad I did! You feel so stoic. Thank you for your words. 🙂
This is what university was meant to be. A teacher with knowledge and wisdom helping others learn how to think about things that are useful and meaningful.
Your influence and impact on those of us who grew up with absent or violent parents cannot be overstated. Our childhoods were consumed by the endless effort of keeping our parents calm, leaving little room for our own passions or sense of purpose. So many who have lived in the survival mode all our lives. You, simply by being authentically yourself, have managed to fill that void, becoming a much-needed mentor, brother, and father figure. Your wisdom and compassion have created a global family, uniting sensitive souls from all corners of the world. I am so incredibly proud of the way you show up in the world. You have helped me overcome my own struggles in such a gentle way. After a life filled with chronic shame, I have been able to develop healthy habits and learn how to stand up for myself and approach relationships with love, integrity and accountability. Work and waking up remained challenging for me, but your gentle and kind approach has helped me break down those barriers in my mind. This video especially hit home. My heart overflows with love and gratitude for having found you. Love from Pakistan.
Every single thing you spoke on here is something that has been on my mind. Just yesterday I was asking myself "what's the point?" when struggling with a bad habit. Just yesterday I wrote in my journal that I must commit to reading and journaling every day to save myself from the loneliness and quiet desperation I feel so often. I may not have many friends or family, but I can do that. And through reading, through listening to your talks, etc., I can travel and explore this world. Through writing I can, as you said, explore my inner world. I want you to know how much I appreciate everything you share, and how much you inspire me. Thank you so much.
hi, I rarely comment on UA-cam videos, but I had to on this video. I am a law student in India's best law school and life here gets pretty overwhelming at times. Just wanted to let you know that your videos were a BREATH OF FRESH AIR, so calming in a therapeutic way.
Been struggling through this for a while. The fact that guilt DOES make this problem even worse, is such an eye-opening point for me. I'll ponder upon the perspective shared in today's video. I don't think I can thank you enough for how you've been impacting, bringing in such amazing perspectives. 🙏🌟
The timing of this message was divine. Purpose is practice and holding yourself accountable daily. When you meet those on a different path it presents an opportunity to acknowledge your growth. Grateful for your videos ✨
Your channel is such a needed statement against current "trends" about videos that are saturated with excessive & useless editing/music and have little information in them. A lot of resources invested in editing, filming, scripting and other stuff by these people. You nailed “just” with Quality. Information does not need any "circus" around it. Good stuff, clean, on point 👍
Grounding energy here on your channel. Love your work my friends. I think personally that the moment we wake up in the morning, our senses plug us back into 3D reality and we literally start to look for the familiar feeling that is us. But I think we are here to strive for the unknown & the best way to make our way towards that is to express ourselves. And reading and writing are beautiful for that. Thank you so much my friend for this video
Enjoyed this very much! Especially the example you described of the brick wall. Thank you! 🤗 I have gotten into a habit of reading a little of the Meditations every morning with my coffee followed by some form of movement (a walk/yoga) and this has helped me feel more clear minded and ready for the rest of the day. More reading after dinner instead of tv or endless scrolling. Still going strong with the Seneca journal entry every week... I need to start daily journaling...
Got new books today, unfortunately couldn't find Meditations, but will be starting with the ones I have right now. Tomorrow will be waking up at 4 AM and using the quietness of the world as you said to reflect on my readings and myself. Indeed, the highest of purposes is to explore this world. Thank you for another wonderful video!
Marcus Aurelius was not just a philosopher, he was a Roman emperor. His stoic nature/ability to think clearly, his writing of philosophy, law and poetry were phenomenal. He echoed Epictetus , “Up to us are opinion, impulse, desire, aversion…Not up to us are body, property, reputation, office.” While we are not the sum of our failures, others will judge you only as good as your last action. We cannot control what others think of us, be it over the top goodness or perhaps a low opinion. Others have their own opinion and we have a choice not to care what others think of us. As long as one is good with thyself and Almighty God. Don’t want to do a soapbox. So, thank you. Happy Thanksgiving and God bless. Ciao 🙋🏻♀️✝️🙏🏻❤️
You, Sir, are my favourite person on UA-cam when it comes to topics like these. ❤ Thank you for all this. After watching your videos, I ordered Medications by Marcus Aurelius (Gregory Hays translation) and that was the first book I completely read. As you said it's one of the dailies. The next book I ordered and just received is "Letters on Ethics" by Seneca (University of Chicago press). And I am reading along with your newsletter. Thanks for bringing these amazing ancient philosophers to my life. I wish I could meet you someday and offer my gratitude
I' now going through an extremely rough period right now and very recent tough breakup. Needed something to watch tonight to help put my mind at ease a bit, thank you. I'll hopefully come back to this comment someday to update.
Every video speaks to me and I find answers I was too confused to understand before, thank you for such guidance and clear explanation. Its tough for me to make the effort of seeking such answers and this makes it so much easier
The complicated, simplified. Great video. I wake up early and go to my job, which I truly like! When I get home, I go right to reading, and sometimes writing, it’s a great balance for me.
Such wise counsel and an important reminder for all our ears🙏Those early morning hours , always in darkness, are imperative for me to learn, think ,pray and prepare as best I can for what may come.I cherish that solitude whilst the rest of the house is still sleeping.I light a candle and begin my “work”. To see and hear the world awake then after this time…breathe in the fresh air, watch the sun rise, hear the bird song gives me strength to move on.We all must do our work.Go well.
I'm autistic and I've struggled with sleeping disorders all my life. I have A LOT of purpose in my life, but still if I sleep less than nine hours I won't be able to fully function, and sometimes I can't fall asleep before 3 a.m. and that means I will sleep till noon or 1 p.m. I don't feel guilty but frustrated and sometimes depressed about the impossibility of consistency in my projects. 😢
its ok, your habits and struggles are just the "form". When you have purpose, rest in that, continue to find your own individual way of making your life meaningful. It is not the form, it your intent and personal direction, and allow yourself room for lack of "perfection". Perfection isn't real anyway.
Currently healing a broken leg and have to stay in bed, there’s little point getting out early when I’m stuck at home for the time being. I don’t like being complacent. I would love to go for a run right now. Remember. If you are struggling to get out of bed, are you getting enough rest? Are you deficient in something? Are you eating enough or too much or too late at light?

This reminds me a lot of the idea that you should “Put the first thing first”. In your case that is reading and writing. In my case it is learning and studying, eventually to contribute to the world. When you fulfil your daily purpose early in the day the rest of the day will be full of ease and your rational mind is more free of anxiety and guilt. Thanks for the video
This is the book I’m reading now and I didn’t search it on the internet but encountered this video by accident. Thanks for your profound but pithy interpretation!

Reading&Writing. Until now, I never considered them as "valid tasks for a human", but only as tools. Even when I read Seneca in the past, I "used Him" to calm my nerves or to get some motivation to do bigger things (like preparing for exams, or for job-interviews). But since many years I don't have so distinctively big and epic obstacles (except job interviews, but I gained rutin) before me. Only the daily "adult-life".... As you said, we shouldn't consider our daily life in the relation to Epic Battles: daily Reading&Writing are already a worthy task for a Human. I have been always ashamed even before myself that "nothing is happening in my life", so I escaped more and more towards the easy escape from reality. But this re-framing is very helpful! This video of yours is closely in parallel with the Math Sorcerer's "Quit Waiting For Inspiration". I think many people would be happy when we would see a collaboration between you two.
Thank you so much for your support and great words of wisdom, particularly examples how to achieve our human goals. I strongly suspect I am either BPD or autistic due to a lifetime of intense struggles with emotional regulation and interpersonal relationships. It’s hard to have a purpose when you see you’re not in control of your life. You can stay on course and do all the right things, but we live in a society and laws and decisions made by people in charge have huge impacts on our lives, especially when those people are insane and sometimes evil.
I believe the Quite Desperation he speaks of is shared among the masses. To me he seems to be referring to the very Question we all seek the answer to and the very one that brought you to us. Which is the; WHY if all. I feel that since the answer is one that is different for each of us and the fact that sometimes we have one and at other times we don't. That the loneliness of its need lingers among us.
Great video, though they were 5 good emperors (not 4 as you mentioned): Nerva, Trajan, Hadrian, Antoninus Pius, and Marcus Aurelius. Keep going, your videos are life-changing!
The quiet desperation of not being able to let go....I want to learn how to let go, to let go of the past, to dare believe in something, to reclaim living and evolving..to let go of the nagging, neverending quiet desperation that destroys everything and to be brave enough to soar beyond it..thx for your video..
Must admit I’m not a ‘corporate’ fan, but I must admit even Apple’s ‘journal’ app is not super appealing, but very easy to get used to. I appreciate being reminded of ‘what made you smile today ? Highly encourage everyone to start journaling ❤
A Course in Miracles attends to this subject of purpose and meaning. It does take discipline to get out of bed some days. Best not to think about getting up, rather just get up. I see the body as animal, myself as something quite different, invisible awareness.
Indeed. Journaling is an activity that’s rarely practiced these days. It’s almost a rarity. I agree with you. I also believe that journaling has the power to change lives. Moreover, the inner world you mention in the video is essentially an internal exercise to develop our intrapersonal intelligence, something that you apparently have quite well-developed, and which, by the way, is a type of intelligence highly present in philosophers. Anyway, thank you very much for this video. I’d like to ask you: what is your name? I’d love to know the name of the man who’s been helping me so much these past few days. Best regards, and please keep up the great work. " Be like the headland on which the waves continually break, but it stands firm and about it the boiling waters sink to sleep. 'Unlucky am I, because this has befallen me.' Nay rather: 'Lucky am I, because, though this befell me, I continue free from sorrow, neither crushed by the present, nor fearing what is to come.' "
Didn't he get pretty much handed off a few times before he finally had a legal family and I don't even think that happened until after he was basically an adult I believe. Do I remember that correctly?
I loved your deep dive into Marcus Aurelius and the battle between purpose and comfort-it’s a timeless struggle that resonates deeply. Your take on exploration through reading and writing as a path to uncovering purpose aligns closely with my own philosophy. What strikes me is how this approach bridges rationality and creativity. I’d love to hear your thoughts on how modern distractions, like social media, might derail this journey of exploration and whether you see any tools or practices today that can aid in reclaiming focus. Thanks for the inspiration-looking forward to more reflections like this! Here's my take on being authentic, becoming proper Proud again ! West Pride Again
“Most men live in quiet desperation.” A quote that hits too close to home in the modern age. May we all find our purpose.

A timely video for us Americans.
♥️♥️♥️ thank you for sharing
thank you
A Course in Miracles attends to this subject of purpose and meaning.
It does take discipline to get out of bed some days. Best not to think about getting up, rather just get
up.
I see the body as animal, myself as something quite different, invisible awareness.
Best video you've made
I am italian . I will read Seneca in original language😅❤
Seneca wrote in Latin
Im laying in my dark bed 3 o clock at night watching this, and a tiny beetle walks onto the screen Exploring :)
It seems to me that what you are describing is what we Catholics call the sin of "Acedia". How to fight against it? By developing virtues.
This feels too synchronized ❤
Thank you

Bro im trying to sleep its 1am stop motivating me 💀
'Unlucky am I, because this has befallen me.' Nay rather: 'Lucky am I, because, though this befell me, I continue free from sorrow, neither crushed by the present, nor fearing what is to come.' "
Youre helpful..❤
thank you.
I get up for a purpose not knowing. Could we be happy as a nihilist. Could u make a video about this?
Gosto muito das suas palavras.
It is nice to find something touching your soul ... how can I join you email chain of thought?
I love brother
Jokes on you, I sleep from 8:30 until 16:30

Doesn’t the Tao speak of drifting with no aim is the way?
What about cats and dogs though Marcus? They sleep all day. Maybe that’s my work too 🤨
Lol. You want to be someone's pet then? Be petted, fed and played with?
@ You make a good case for it 😁
It’s 4:54 AM I think I’ll stay a little
Didn't he get pretty much handed off a few times before he finally had a legal family and I don't even think that happened until after he was basically an adult I believe.
