Although he never considered himself a philosopher, Marcus Aurelius’ writings have become one of the most significant ancient Stoic scriptures. His ‘Meditations’ contain a series of notes to himself based on Stoic ideas, one of which is embracing fate and living conformably to the demands of nature.
Instead of wanting things to happen as we wish, we’re better off accepting the universe, according to Marcus Aurelius, and developing a flexible attitude towards the outside world while being strict with ourselves (Stop Wanting, Start Accepting | The Philosophy of Marcus Aurelius)

One of my favourite stoic quotes is "If a person speaks ill of you, it's either true, or false. If it's true, then you should accept it as who you are. If it's false, then accept them as foolish, and their opinion can be disregarded"

Let me add, if someone speaks ill about you and you are offended, that means deep inside you know it's true. If it's not offending you whatsoever, that means it's not true. And the person judging actually has the characteristic that he/she is judging you without realizing it.

Precisely. Half of understanding existence on Earth is knowing what you HAVE control over (very little) and what you do not hold sway upon (almost everything).
Reflection is key, though. Humanity SHOULD dare to look deep within, but it should also understand that more than the mere physical aspect of such Reflection is required for true, celestial enlightenment.
"Before I start, I must see my end. Destination known, my mind's journey now begins. Upon my chariot, heart and soul's fate revealed. In Time, all points converge; hope's strength resteeled. But to earn final peace at the Universe's endless refrain, we must see all in nothingness... before we start again."

@adamcomerford8502...Good comment, When we look at relationship videos, and our human faults... embracing Stoicism makes sense. Most people, including the younger, forget that when we have significant others in our lives, we bring all our shortcomings to the relationship. I have found most life-coaches to comment that time away from that other is imperative. ...both need to heal, and grow. Question: Did your loss, a year ago, turn into a win for you and that other one? Sometimes, with ego aside, love can re-flourish. Thanks from Darrell. 😇

@@adamcomerford8502 Thank you for your thoughtfully worded reply, Adam. The optics from my view as a guy in his early 70's (very healthy and "capable", LOL), is that most problems younger men and women encounter, come from our own Hubris, for want' of a better word...absurdly high expectations. You tube has excellent relationship coaches, who talk about these issues. I am thankful that my marriage of 25 years is solid. (Her father raised her with Stoic principals). Finding one's Soulmate" takes some real maturity, and a confluence of factors based upon timing. Stoicism, as an excellent tool, brings forth a common thread thru, enabling love, but with honest-wide open eyes, concerning our own motivations, not so much theirs, since we are only in control of our own motives. To close: My wife, ex-wife and I are friends, without long-remembered 'hurt tarnishing our relationship. A relationship guru once said: "If you are not in breakdown, or buildup with your significant other, you are NOT in relationship", but living a fraud...a rather extreme "call to action" quote, LOL. Thanks, Adam...you make me think as to how well I really do have it. Hopefully talk again, soon. Darrell.

Accidentally discovering Stoicism was the best thing that has happened to me since I have changed for the better in controlling my anger and anxiety issues. Right now, I had a recent misfortune that I got assaulted by a co-worker at work and now the company I work for is trying to cover things up and they might just release me to prevent a scandal. No matter what happens, I will face adversity head-on and accept whatever the outcome is. Thank you for this video Einzelgänger.

Most people are afraid, even those with power. And that affects their decisions making tools. Few see the larger picture, even if there are "rules, laws, and corporate policies" outlining just those processes. It's easier...........to BAIL.

Overcompensating By portraying every historical figure as black because blacks have been "underrepresented" in media doesn't help them in a positive way, same as what parents do with their kids when they think they screwed up, they try to make them feel good giving them in excess. As a result kids just become spoiled.

"Instead of hoping for a life free of misfortune, it's better to wish ourselves the fortitude to handle adversity." Then isn't it better to do what's up to you--like a free man--than to be passively controlled by what isn't, like a slave or beggar?" Marcus Aurelius
These quotes remind me of a passage in Steps to Knowledge by Marshall Vian Summers about suffering and blame. Here is an excerpt:
"Pain is always a decision that you make in response to any stimuli in your environment. The body will have physical pain if it is so stimulated, but that is merely a sensory response. It is not the true pain that hurts you. The pain that hurts you is the crown of thorns of your own ideas and assumptions, your own misgivings and misinformation and your own unforgiveness towards yourself and the world.... You may feel that you have been wronged by another or by the world... This, however, is not how Knowledge views you, and you must learn not to view yourself in this way... Without condemnation upon the world and upon yourself, the mind is at peace already." (Marshall Vian Summers, Steps to Knowledge)

True! As Jordan Peterson said Pursue 'Meaning of Life'......rather than 'Happiness in Life'. The reason being 'happiness'.. is also fading just as sadness. You can be happy in the morning but sad in the noon and happy in evening and again become sad in the
night. The circumstances in life directly dictates the happiness variables. Therefore focusing only on being happy as the only absolute goal robs us away from living a 'fulfilled' life.
Live a meaningful life by accepting death and sickness as the very basis of our fragile life, happiness to be enjoyed every time as it doesn't last, sadness with grace as there will be sunlight tomorrow, challanges and adversities to be faced with an understanding that it is profound structure that makes our life of what it is and the very meaning of our existence.
Despite all this life fragility, yet still offering our most responsible contribution to the family and society will help us to live a meaningful life in its highest order because we know that sufferings and happiness, both makes up the very 'meaning of life'. So, pursuing the meaning of life and not just happiness......will make us live a more 'Fullfilling life'.

I recommend to everyone reading this to at least give it a try, as you have nothing to lose! However, it takes time to change our ways, so we must take it seriously and let it sink in over time. We can accept not having what we want, but we can never accept not having what we need and I don't think we'll ever be happy or satisfied without it. I have let go of professional or financial ambitions and I feel better for it, I have let go of dreams of a happy marriage and children and I'm at peace. But I would never be happy or whole being completely isolated, without feeling love and care from others. That's a need. Needs need to be fulfilled. That's what I think.

I also wonder sometimes how much finding contentment in letting go of professional, financial or personal ambitions is actually holding us back - allowing us to feel okay settling for less than we want when actually sometimes it is good to embrace wants and needs, it is good to strive for something, it is good to have goals - even if we might never reach them. Finding joy in the pursuit no matter the outcome seems more healthy to me than finding joy in giving up the pursuit.
