You have to understand that America's political culture is the defining factor of what it means to be an American. Someone isn't called Anti-French for a political opinion, but Americans refer to one another as Anti-American all the time. The United States doesn't possess a shared peoples or long history, but it does share a political creed. In other words, the country's an anomaly from a historical standpoint.

Yeah… but, there are kids with conservative parents teaching them conservative morals. These kids are going to school where they get shunned by students and worse by faculty because of their conservative beliefs. Beliefs that they have been taught to follow by their parents.
Vice versa. There are kids that come from liberal households following liberal morals. They also go to schools, they are also treated differently if they are in a conservative school.
The true issue is that schools are becoming more liberal leaning. They are focusing on teaching from a liberal perspective. Which it wouldn’t be a problem if there weren’t actively shaming people who are not liberal. There are many jokes about creationism. Creationist are idiots for the most part. It’s discouraging. It’s unkind. It frankly wouldn’t be acceptable if the tables were reversed.
That’s the true issue. Schools don’t have a true neutral ground. Biology is taught at schools but not creationism. Biology is “important.” Creationism, you can learn more about that on your own time outside school.
Which wouldn’t be too much of an issue but then LGBTQ+ is “important” for students to learn, when before it was in the learn-in-your-own-time outside school category.
While I agree the US might be the only place where kids are labeled by their political POV, other countries have mastered their indoctrination process of the youth. [>

I didn't learn about sex until after I had been sexually assaulted. If I had learned about it earlier, then I could've done something, told someone, and had the abuse stop earlier than it did, because the day after I had my first sex ed class, I went to my school counselor, told her what had been happening for years, and she was able to stop it within that week. Sex, drugs, sexuality, racism, it should all be discussed so children don’t grow up with a warped view of the world. Consent (as it pertains to physical boundaries) is a very important subject - centered in Sex Ed - to teach to young children, because it helps them understand when it's inappropriate for someone they don't know (or feel uncomfortble with) to touch them. It doesn't even have to be an explicit learning session, as it often times just involves a doll and pointing to certain "No-no" places that the kid shouldn't allow someone they don't trust to touch.
It's especially important because often times, these young children are abused by members in their family, which could even include the parents. Having those children learn about this form of consent literally helps in protecting them from the beginnings of abuse, or continuation of it.

OK, these parents are delusional. The examples they are bringing up are things other students are doing, NOT THE TEACHERS! If you don't want your kid to be shocked about hearing things at school, the it's on YOU to teach them, not just say the world is bad bc another kid told your kid something, that they likely heard from am older student, maybe on the bus, or older sibling, etc, and NOT FROM THE TEACHER. Do they really think teachers gonna pop pornhub up on the screen??? It's ridiculous. I'm 46. Being that the potential dangers of this have been completely overlooked for the past decade, parents need to be more prepared to discuss current things their kids might come across and how to deal with it, rather than blaming their ignorance on teachers or LGBTQ+ people. If kids don't feel comfortable enough discussing things with their parents, it's usually because the parents failed somewhere to provide a proper environment of trust and support imo.

How is that blowing your mind?
      - Is it reasonable to say that if someone was a visible gun threat, the teacher would be able to recognize that?
      - Which is a large contrast with the teachers near complete inability to recognize that their own ideological biases is a threat to the children-parents' ideological origins.
That's what these parents trust, and I'm saying this as someone who is vehemently against armed teachers.
Then again, about the former... even THAT liberal school personal has managed to screw up. A few weeks ago in Cleveland, 2 school vice-principals opened the school's doors to 3 armed gunmen to "protect the black men from the cops". That reckless behavior then prolonged the altercation for a further 30 minutes. It's hard to gain parents' trust when even THAT low of an ideological bar is screwed up.

@@svonjai2169 in America they don't do background checks for example here in North Carolina they don't even do mental health screanings for public school teachers I have an acquaintance who teaches here in North Carolina and is a diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic.
I was flabbergasted when I found out but apparently in North Carolina they don't care nor check.
I'm sure they do background checks of some sort but the requirements to be a teacher differ based on the institution.
We have public schools charter schools magnet schools and private schools all with different requirements.
My stepmom could never pass the exam but she did have a master's degree so she taught at a private school instead which she still currently teaches at.

I’ve watched several videos on your channel now, and without exception, the vast majority of the questions are framed so that one side agrees first every time, and the other group are repeatedly defending their position. I would like to see these same debates/discussions framed so that each side has the opportunity to step forward and give their opinion first an equal number of times.

I like how the discussions between teenagers on jubilee seem to be more civil than most of the conversations involving adults. I feel like people who are more experienced in life go in with a set of values that make it hard for them to try and hear out the other side causing them to react emotionally if someone disagrees with them rather than just asking a follow up question to get a better understanding.

6th grade teacher here; my students aren’t learning these things from us. They come to school bringing up anything and everything from what they’re seeing on tiktok and UA-cam. A large number of parents aren’t monitoring what they’re looking at so they’re looking at the things these parents are complaining about and so much worse. They’ve lost boundaries around topics we had as students even 15 years ago. They don’t understand why their teacher doesn’t want to hear or answer anything about things to do with sex, drugs, etc.
I’m just trying to get through my day and teach them reading skills. They don’t need me to tell them what gay people are or pronouns, they’re learning that on their own online.
