    That Evolution is a torquey little rascal. I found a new one with the Evolution blade at an estate sale for $150. It didn't have a scratch on it. I think the guy might have gotten it thinking it would be a good compound miter saw? He had gotten one of those also and it had more use. I didn't see enough metal tools to make me think he was a fabricator. I cut cast iron spatulas out of new Lodge skillets and it made that job much easier. The Blackstone Grill guys go crazy over them. The sale of these spatulas finances my vintage cast iron addiction. Betty Ford doesn't have a program for that so I get my fixes at estate sales. It's a burden I must bear. lol

      @@chrissewell1608 Actually I did. You know those corn stick cast iron pans that look like ears of corn, they make the best brownies you've ever eaten. If you'll add nuts they look like dog poop so now when we have a fish fry people ask for dog poop brownies. It makes brownies crusty on all sides like it would cornbread. Thank you for the suggestion and try them, you'll like em.

    you are exactly right. I love my cold cut saw, I used to use an abrasive saw and I could never get a strait cut with it then I found the cold cut and threw the abrasive to the side and haven't used it since

      Me too . But I was serious about use it on hardened steel . I used some on my weld table top and it ruined my blade . That's where an abrasive saw really comes in handy . But that is rare

Also another good reason a Cold cut saw is better is cause with the Abrasive chop saw ya need to wear a respirator cause you don’t need to breathe in the fiber dust. and also the abrasive fiber blade will explode just like cut off wheel on grinder . Great tips . 👍👍👍 Thanks for posting and Keep’em coming

    I don’t recommend using abrasive saws on aluminum, copper, or brass as well. Abrasive discs tend to load up with softer materials and can either sling chunks of that at you or explode entirely.

    Another great video buddy. I have not cut any metal in past 5 years. But I do want one of those cold cut saws, even if I just leave it in the box it comes in. I know it will look great up on my tool storage shelving. What is the old saying, the one with the most tools at the time of his death wins the game, I'm one of those old guys. We can never have to many tools. Heck I have tools in my tool box I can't remember what they are used for anymore. Sad getting older, losing our memories and not having the ability to work anymore, I think that is absolutely the worst thing ever. Not having the ability to stand up and walk even tho the heart wants to more than anything else in life. Don't get old, carry a note pad and Everytime you get a great idea, stop and write it down. Then design it and build it.

    You are 100% correct on everything except possibly the speed test, because of the abrasive blade you are using. I don't need or have room for saws like those, but try a Pferd abrasive blade if they make them that large. I use Pferd on my 4.5" angle grinder. They last 2x longer than Dewalt discs which are better than the basic HF ones prior to all their branding.

    I worked in a machine shop for over 25 years. I wished we had a cold cut saw. For the small stuff that is. I hated using the cut off wheel because you never know when it get in a bind and fly apart. We did have a band saw that would cut up to 12” dia. S/steel it had coolant run through it. But will the cold cut saw cut through tool steel? Great video for people learning to cut through steel. Each saw has it’s place. Good job.

    • @FishinNStuff
      @FishinNStuff  11 місяців тому +1

      I know tool steel is hard . Some of it like drill bit stock you harden after wards . If it's already hard I wouldn't do it , because the blades are too expensive to replace often . That's why I keep my abrasive saw . I'd probably use my bandsaw for that . ua-cam.com/video/vVQd39DFuwI/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared

    First I will say I enjoyed the video. but lets point out new blade (Evalution) vs 3 year old blade on (old Evalution) and I am assuming that the (New Evalution) did have a new blade Correct? Also the Evolution Miter Coldcut Saw in your video is 849. Just wanted to point ON picky picky picky. lol Other than my picky picky I realy do enjoy your video's I find them entertaining and informative. I recently purchased the VEVOR Boat Trailer Guide-ons after watching one of your video's. and want to ad that your point about NOT using the blade on a regular miter chap saw was important to point out. Thanks you for doing them. be sure to change that old blade lol

    • @FishinNStuff
      @FishinNStuff  11 місяців тому +1

      I know it wasn't fair to compare the old blade to the new one . But I'll add this the 3 years old blade still crushed the abrasive saw lol . It would be a 5 year old blade but egged the saw was 2 years old my dumb self cut hardened steel with it and had to buy a new blade 😕 but like you pointed out the main point of the but was the safty aspect of using the right blade . But I'll say once you go cold cut you can't go bad . Unless you cutting hardened steel lol

      I've got alot of DIYS that I've cut Aluminum with the Evolution saw . So I know for sure the orange blade on my old saw will cut it fine . Even at the very beginning of this video there 2 shots of me cutting Aluminum tube and aluminum flat stock . But ive never tried cutting aluminum with an abrasive saw
