I think you should definitely give season 2 the exact same treatment as you did for season 1. Seasons 1-3 is the quintessential classic SpongeBob era and going through season 1 with your commentary gave me a good nostalgia trip
Absolutely! I could watch these videos for every season, honestly. I'm here having a marathon with his SpongeBob season 1 episodes... Currently watching the 3rd part. 😌 It's crazy, I remember when literally Every episode of season 1 aired! I was 7 to 8 years old when season 1 episodes were premiering.

It's all over TikTok, is it not? That episode only ever aired once a year, just as the Valentine's Day episode which could explain the lack of appreciation; I hadn't even remembered the line myself and I was about 8 at the time and very much a Bob lover.

So, I was scared of leaving the fridge open XD I still quote this episode saying "shut the fridge cuz, you're gonna get the suds" if someone leaves it open

A cute bonus from the dream episode is that when the SpongeBob and Gary warn each other not to get too curious, they each address the other by the proper phylum that the character belongs to (poriferan and mollusk respectively).
there's a really great gag playing off of that in the new game, cosmic shake. Squidward is stuck talking like a caveman and patrick suggests they get Gary's help teaching him how to speak again because he's so eloquent. it subverts the usual "patrick says something obviously dumb" shtick by immediately having him turn out to be entirely right. I like how it accomplishes being subversive and unexpected while still falling in line with gary's character the entire time. there's some surprisingly good writing in cosmic shake :)
Even though my favorite season is 2 for how strong the comedic writing and concepts were at that point, 1 wasn't afraid to throw every great creative idea the team had at the wall and somehow, everything stuck.

After watching all those YTPs years ago, I always expect some SpongeBob episodes to go off the wall or random whenever I watch them. Also, I personally like SB-129, it was really interesting to see Squidward travel through time and visit the Alone void. Kinda trippy and unique, gives off that Backrooms vibe.
I know, I was expecting there to be dolphin noises over Squidward yelling through his clarinet in sb-129 even though Sailor Mouth didn’t even happen before that episode
I really enjoy SpongeBob's casual experience of injury in early episodes, he's a sponge so it's true to nature as its been studied, but its really very nice for a main character in slapstick comedy to be less resilient than absurdly so.
Please do season 2! Although, we all know how much work that will be, and nobody wants you to get burnt out! Please do give it a chance though, if you’d like, because these walks down memory lane are incredibly enjoyable to us viewers, and hopefully, to you as well!
The chair-thingy that Squidward is being carried on is called a Litter. It is a form of human-powered vehicle(or in this case fish-powered). You also get them as bigger rooms. It is used to carry important people.
I actually like to image that in the Chaperone episode that it was indeed SpongeBob at the prom but he actually used the dummy to avoid the kiss from Pearl, you notice how when the dummy is in the frame it has a static facial expression? 1:26:30 - "Mind your wandering eye, you little mollusk" reference to the Ween song, The Mollusk. The album, with the same title, was apparently an inspiration for Stephen Hillenberg in creating Spongebob, which is why Ween was featured in Spongebob (Loop-de-loop, the song Spongebob ties his shoes in, and the beloved Ocean Man)
I never understood why but Suds was always my favorite episode growing up. It might have something to do with me being sick all the time when I was younger, but even then I still don’t know why.
I was a teenager during this (the “future” episode) and the chrome made me laugh because with Y2K, a lot of the collectibles that were made were very chrome-ish. To me that line was a joke about that.
Oh! Motifs/Leitmotifs! That's when music is used to represent certain characters and places. Very common, almost required in media. Sideways isna good channel to learn about them
A massive example of Leitmotifs being used is the 6-movie saga of Star Wars. The music alone can foreshadow entire events in the movies if you know who/what each song is connected to.
I always thought that the hairs are embedded intro the anchor arms in such a way that more pressure forces them out, like a very gross spaghetti machine. As for why it doesn’t happen to SpongeBob? yesss please do season 2 and 3!! these videos are so good and nostalgic and I love your passion for this show. btw the term you're looking for is "Leitmotif", it's used in pretty much all visual media. I actually think it was a good choice to use the lively, friendly sounding Krusty Krab theme when it's creepy and empty, it adds to the "off" feeling of the episode imo
A nice way to begin the new year! It's like I played the end credits of SpongeBob and it's spreading the day in, also I would love to see you talk about next 2 seasons.
I love these videos thank you for making them I will just set on my couch for hours and watch this and get some weird looks from my family it's the best
Sleepy Time was definitely my favourite. I don't know if it made dreams my favourite little curiosity, or if it just happened to touch on something I already like so much. The night time mood contrasting with the dreams is also just so wonderful, in a way I'm not sure I can explain. And it's also special because it's a piece of media that takes me back to when I watched it, including how it feels to be that young, there's a sense of comfort and freshness that I think is just lost as you become an adult. But thankfully for me, something completely different and recent that was able to mimic the special feelings I get from this was Deltarune, however that's another thing where I'm not sure I can answer the why of it.
Suds is easily my favorite episode of SpongeBob. SpongeBob reminds me of me where he will go to work even if sick. Plus, there are just so many entertaining moments.
the dream episode and the massive gold mine that is SB-129 are trippy, random and cartoonish as hell. The newest episodes of spongebob are like this as well in nature but idunno why the season 1 trippy episodes are good whereas the former were bad. They are same but different as well.
Probably because the Season 1 trippy episodes put in lots of jokes and character moments in addition to trippiness, whereas the newer episodes think that random in and of itself is funny.
I remember I was 9 years old and saw a sneak peak of the show called SpongeBob SquarePants and I instantly knew I didn’t want to miss the premiere. Once it came out I was hooked.
Also the Halloween special, the ABSOLUTE madlad Patrick, gave SpongeBob clomps to wear, for his flying DUTCHman cosplay....and as a Dutch person myself, i absolutely love it
Watching these episodes for me is wild because it feels like every third line is a well known quote. The definition of classic.

watch this on the way to work always makes me smile and laugh reminiscing about the old episodes that are GOATED
You think a 7 inch crab is scary try a japanese spider carb
Those are fuckin nightmare fuel, some Darksouls shit
The Chaperone, especially the end part is stupid funny and so far, one of the best parts I love about classic SpongeBob
What purpose would the arm cruncher? It would just crush your bones. No muscle build there.
that who me from the first episode will forever be my most quoted spongebob dialogue
Hey Shawn! I’m so glad I discovered your channel, I love every single video! I also wish you a very happy new year 🎉
Peace & love from Belgium 🇧🇪
Definitely do Season 2, It’s just as special as season 1!
season 3 too! dont forget!
@@robroy6374Even season 4 isn't too bad
@@jupitervideos7702 yup. people like to bash season 4 too much.
SB-129 is still my most favorite and best remembered episode, it's so crazy.
Not gonna lie that bit in MuscleBob BuffPants with the Anchors chasing the Fish that measures the distance had me howling with laughter.
these videos have been amazing man! thank you for taking us down memory road with these classics
“This squirrel is trying to kill me”😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I loved the snails singing at the end of episode when I was a kid
Amen to your words in the beginning of this video Shawn.
yesss please do season 2 and 3!! these videos are so good and nostalgic and I love your passion for this show. btw the term you're looking for is "Leitmotif", it's used in pretty much all visual media.
38:47 Squidward’s scream in the background when he’s stuck down that hole cracks me up everytime
I think the tree in spongebob's closet was his chrismas tree, that patrick turned into shoes without asking.
I thought about that too but then I realised they didn't know what Christmas was still
I love these videos thank you for making them I will just set on my couch for hours and watch this and get some weird looks from my family it's the best
When the ref gets hit repeatedly by the “instant replay” anchors 😂😂😂😂 died as a kid and still funny to this day
I love the episode where SpongeBob turns into a Snail and the episode where Gary runs away called Have you seen this Snail.
Watching SpongeBob on dvd is a whole other experience. The lower resolution and lack of fancy UI is so nostalgic.
the dream episode and the massive gold mine that is SB-129 are trippy, random and cartoonish as hell.
Could've sworn Spongebob managed to play the tissue in the Ghost Squidward episode. 🤔
Oh I'd absolutely would love to see you do season 2.
You need to make videos about the first 3 seasons. I really like these videos.
ive been waiting for pt3 and you delivered tysm!
a great series!
Prom episode cameo: flying sink. My favourite character.
Octavius Rex is a fancy name
I remember I was 9 years old and saw a sneak peak of the show called SpongeBob SquarePants and I instantly knew I didn’t want to miss the premiere. Once it came out I was hooked.
Also the Halloween special, the ABSOLUTE madlad Patrick, gave SpongeBob clomps to wear, for his flying DUTCHman cosplay....and as a Dutch person myself, i absolutely love it
