Responding to some common questions I've been seeing about this theory: 1) Isn’t this all just a bunch of gags / jokes made by the animators for fun? Yeah of course. That doesn’t mean I can’t make a ridiculous, overly dramatic theory about them for fun too. That’s what 99% of fan theories are! And that doesn’t mean you can’t try and poke holes in the theory either, that’s all part of the fun too. 2) Is Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers, or any other media with this type of meta premise a part of the Pixar Metaverse? Maybe, but I really only wanted to strictly include media that directly shows Pixar characters. Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny have both made appearances at the Oscars (never the same ones as Pixar characters), and they’re both in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, but that still feels like a little bit of a thin connection. 3) Couldn’t Slim have just swallowed a much smaller type of bug? Like a gnat or fruit fly? It seems like all the bugs in A Bugs Life are all relatively the same size. In real life Stick Bugs and Caterpillars are much bigger than Ants, but they are all more or less the same size in the movie. This seems to imply that there would be no “tiny bug” characters in the Bugs life world for Slim to swallow. 4) How could the Toys have internal organs if we’ve seen them get ripped apart and have stuffing on the inside? We’ve only seen the insides of a Toy inside the fictional Toy Story movies. Everything we see in those movies is fictional. We see people get ripped apart in live action movies all the time and don’t assume that it’s real. The fact that they eat in the metaverse implies they aren’t just full of stuffing. 5) Why didn’t I mention the bonus credits scene from Cars that shows them watching other Pixar movies, but with Cars as actors? This is a really funny bonus gag, but it’s not part of the metaverse. This clip shows movies inside of the fictional Cars movie universe, which are just movies inside of the Pixar metaverse, which are just bonus clips in real life. Just like “Lightyear”, it’s a whole new deeper layer of movies within movies. I call this layer the “Pixar Infraverse” 6) What about product tie-in commercials that feature Pixar characters? Are they part of the metaverse? Yes! Every McDonald’s commercial that features a Pixar character is in the metaverse! So are Pixar amusement park ride presentations, custom ABC bumpers and the Toy Story Funday Football. I didn’t mention any of this because they don’t really tell us anything new, and the video was already getting very long. I also originally had a segment about a Disney+ short film “Your Friend The Rat” that shows the metaverse actor for Remy the rat, but I cut it out for pacing. It’s on Patreon if you’re interested!
Well... Betty Boop makes a comment about why she works a different job and that's because her stuff is outdated that's why in who framed she works at the same spot Jessica works so maybe u should watch who framed just so u can structure your theory
I expected to be ignored. Or maybe get a reply of "genuine confusion" with a "im not inducted anywhere" type of denial. But I didnt expect that it would be wiped completely. But its good, I DO love the videos. But I know why now. Secrets are secrets for a reason, right? Not all are 'vile and stupid'
It _also_ makes a LOT of sense that the Incredibles characters would be more in denial about being cartoons, because the Incredibles is one of the more "realistic" Pixar films. All the characters _act like humans,_ they aren't toys or talking bugs, they were created to feel _human._ So if you felt like a human, acted like a human, and thought like a human, wouldn't you feel uncomfortable with the idea that you aren't really a human, but instead just a cartoon character?
Personally I think they are robots or living 3D sculpture perhaps bnl or Pixar used the souls from soul to power these animated characters heck there is a background character in Soul who is vioced by Tom Hanks (the va of Woody) where it's shown over working is stealing his soul. Heck we see in Wallie that robots in this universe can be oddly human like they can literally fall in love and the other robots in the incredibles are fairly humanoid. Hell this isn't even a theoretical thing there is shown in these bloopers that the bird is a very relistic looking anomatronic. Often anomatronics for theame parks and stuff are set to play one character it could be an advanced version of that. Also would technically go around the plot hole of Mr.increbible saying it's a cartoon because technically he wouldn't be animated but still be allowed to look cartoony.
Honestly, the fact that the Incredibles actor are so desperate to making the interviewer to see them as real people is actually pretty sad, given that they were the first actual human characters Pixar had as main characters and that even THEY don‘t have the same rights as real humans.
What about the humans from Toy Story, the children from Monster Inc. and the humans of Finding Nemo? They're, for the most part, not the main characters but they are animated for the purpose of starring in or featuring in these movies. Imagine they'd also make multiple of them to test for temperament oof
Imagine being a janitor or an assistant at an animation studio, end up in a room where you weren't supossed to be, and it's full of uncanny human-looking beings on their lunch break eating burritos ☠️
I love these theories. Hey, you should do a PAW Patrol theory. Edit-- I personally love a PAW Patrol theory as long as people aren't harshing on Ryder.
“Who Framed Roger Rabbit” is probably the most well-known example of a cartoon metaverse, and probably the most likely universe which a lot of these animated bloopers and interviews take place in.
This may be the best theory guy out there. He explains everything so well, he doesn’t leave me confused, he always has a cliffhanger, and he makes it a thrill.
Considering that ted’s feet from monster’s inc can be seen in inside out, but as a prop at dreams productions, I like to think that the meta verse is simply just the dreams and imagination of Riley, based off her memories: finding Nemo being based off the find me (a board game found in dream land), and good dinosaurs being based off the statues her family took pictures of on the way to La, The cast and crew are simply just the emotion’s coworkers under the same filter that made joy and sadness look like a dismembered puppy.
Holy shit that makes a lot of sense. Also explains that they delayed the movie, as they had to reshoot the entire movie but with a different and better looking actor instead
My thoughts exactly Ugly Sonic is proof, he is a failed clone that is both riding the meme and trying to differentiate himself from proper sonic by adding the ugly he clearly went through stuff before his appearance in the movie.
One thing in the bloopers that also felt weird was the one where Slinky's backside was revealed to have its own consciousness and Slinky's frontside was complimenting its good acting and petting it like it was a dog. If we go by what was theorized here, does that mean Pixar created multiple copies of both halves of Slinky, and that there are a bunch of sentient dog butts walking around unable to find work because they don't have faces and can only communicate in Luxo Jr. lamp noises?
In an ad for the 2016 film “The Angry Birds Movie” it play’s the Scene where Red gets shot out of the slingshot and lands on the rock, but unlike in the original movie it zooms out to reveal a “decoy” Red directing the movie with a food mascot.
Because that's not really the actual characters themselves. It'd be like us watching a live action remake and stating that that makes the original characters part of our universe now.
Firstly, it implies the existence of complete shot-for-shot remakes of films made for other forms of life. Goodness knows why they'd do this but it happens All the characters voiced by John Lasseter are said to be "the same actor" and that makes it a "cut-rate production", implying that A) any character who shares a real life voice actor with another is effectively the same "actor" as another, even if their appearance is different, and B) that there is an expectation that "actors" do not get repeat work in the industry for different characters, at least in that job. Having said all that... The credits sequence is entirely set within the world of Cars, and thus is non-canonical to the metaverse theory.
your computer is listening to you, i remember seeing this experiment where someone logged out of all their stuff on their computer and turned it off, and then talked about cats or something for 30 minutes (they don't own a cat) and when they turned it back on and logged back into all their stuff, they got a ton of ads on all platforms about cat toys, food, etc. its creepy
I like the implication that either brought-to-life characters are cheaper than CGI, or CGI is so expensive or slow that bringing characters to life is a normal thing for them
Perhaps it was trying to make their characters seem more real or trying to make their animation closer to life. Maybe the characters where based off their reference actors since often Pixar movies will use video references for animation. In the real world this is to allow to animators to reference off but in this theory that doesn't make scence since these are real living animations.
The "bug" swallowing a bug makes me think the bugs might actually be monsters from the monsters Inc universe that look like bugs. That's why the bird has to be mechanical.
That would make a lot of sense, since this would explain why Rex is much bigger than Mike and Sully, while also being bigger than the Bugs, because the bugs are just a different subspecies of Monsters.
this whole theory keeps acknowledging contradictions but then goes to use them to prove their point, clearly showing they know it's stupid, but still wants answers regardless and the fact they made something cohesive while knowing they sound insane is very respectable
Alex, I think I know how the animations are created. 1. The animators makes blueprints on there characters then the sketch out their character design. 2. They go on their computers and start 3d modeling and design their character along with programming their personality. 3. Then they use booth to 3d print their character. And then bam! They made a character.
It's crazy cause no one ever talks about the interviews, if it wasn't for this video I would NEVER knew that these 'interviews' existed. PLUS THE NOMINATED AWARD ANIMATIONS?! Where does this guy find his evidence?! He is such a good theorist
@@locinolacolino1302 I love your use of the word handy, here. I think it's funny. It's a perfectly perfect use of the word imho, but it just made me envision a kid sitting his pap down and asking for life advice, and the dad gets a knowing and loving smile and says: "Okay son, this one is extremely handy and might serve you well in the future... Always, and I mean ALWAYS, keep a DVD copy of Pixar films released in the 90's and the noughties." Obligatory: "Who's Pixar?"
@@npcrah I meant handy as in 'Within hand's reach/arm's length', which makes sense as you describe hoping a Dad's life advice would stick closely to his son.
My favorite genre of theory is "taking some kind of oversight/error in production, taking that at face value, and making blanket statements and assertions based off of that" It's not bad by any means and you actually pulled it off well here, reminds me of the "Izzy isn't crazy" theory
OH MY GOD I WAS THINKING THIS TOO. I love the Izzy isn't crazy theory, and I agree: the best theories are ones that were entirely on accident. They're always so batshit insane and way better a theory than anyone could intentionally put into a piece of media.
Skin Theory from SpongeBob is another great one. Throughout SB 1-4 there are multiple instances of characters removing or exchanging body parts, skin, or are wearing costumes to appear as other sea creatures.
This is why I love Alex Bale. 1: he makes insane theory’s that probably arnt real, but make so much sense that it makes your head spin. 2: not only that, but he makes some really good horror films or short films that not a lot of people recognize! His use of filmmaking and chills absolutely makes me want to see more every time. From pizza, to a giant blob monster living in your basement, to even big bird. I love everything this guy makes.
I actually think some of his theories could be real. The creators put a ton of effort and time into their work, and they probably have the same relationship with their work as an artist would have with their paintings or an author with their books. It’s not too far fetched to think they might have some insane details in their work that aren’t obvious but still there if you look close enough
Wait, "For the love of Pete" has always been a saying that makes reference to Saint Peter, not god. It's just an older saying, which is probably why they decided to have an old man say it.
dude the fucking promo in the beginning was so good. I literally thought it had to do with the theory and I was like is this a flashback edit. Bro edited an entire tv advertisement. I’m so impressed and you literally deserve your flowers. Loved that, kept me invested in watching the whole ad 💀
Love how the post credits scene is an implication that alex is just a voice actor and there are other alex clones, making him a part of the metaverse theory
wow this is INCREDIBLE! i love this concept and your storytelling literally had me glued to the screen for 52 minutes! LONG LIVE ALEX BALE'S PIXAR METAVERSE THEORY !!!
It's actually like the toon's rights in "who framed roger rabbit" with the "There's no justice for toons anymore". and the same concept as Bendy and the ink machine with bringing cartoons to the real world and making multiple copies of a character, and Poppy playtime with the bigger bodies initiative, with making real big versions of toys with organs to fill job rolls.
and the recent Chip and Dale movie kinda, like in the movie both the main characters and the main villain are washed up cartoon actors, doing different things to survive, going on conventions, taking insurance jobs, making a blackmarket bootleg business. Plus Ugly Sonic being a failed clone of Sonic fits in.
I think it might be fun to make a theory like this that connects every single "animated actors" content together into one big metaverse. Not just the fictional bloopers, interviews, and Oscar presentations, but the ones made for other animated films and shows like Lego Movie, Lion King, or Looney Tunes. Not to mention Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers Movie, the Steven Spielberg Warner Bros shows like Animaniacs and Tiny Toons, the Universal Studios Orlando rides that preceded the Despicable Me ride like Hanna Barbara and Nicktoons, House of Mouse, Once Upon a Studio, anything portraying the Looney Tunes characters as actors, like Back in Action, the Scarlett Pumpernickel, or What's Up Doc, those specials on the Wonderful World of Disney portraying their characters as real actors, like Mickey's Birthday Special, and all those Family Guy episodes that portray the Griffins as actors. You could even include those crossover promos that kids networks would show on their channel! Like the ones on Cartoon Network where all the characters on the network either work in a fictional version of the studio, or live in a town that fuses all their worlds together. Or those Nicktoon holiday shorts where all your favorite Nick characters parody classic specials, like Peanuts or Rankin Bass. Or even the shorts Disney Channel is currently making for its cartoons, one of which have Disney TV Animation characters perform a variety show as chibis, and another where the characters sing parodies of songs from their live action original movies like Descendants and Zombies, that would usually be about an element in their shows (sidekicks, villains, themes about accepting your quirks and anxiety to name their most popular ones). One could even include all the content that portrays PUPPETS as real characters. All the interviews, specials, bloopers, guest appearances, and behind the scenes featurettes that portray The Muppets, The Sesame Street Muppets, the Fraggles, ALF, Lambchop, and who knows who else as celebrities that have a life of their own, in spite of being made out of felt. How fun would it be to use all of this and more to learn more about this bizarre world of animated actors?
A theory about sentient, living animations, anti-animation racism, cloning to replace sentient beings, and those animations being stripped of purpose when their acting is done. Definitely something.
The way i though he was gonna get into the new AI voices that simulate real voices and deepfakes when he spoke about the animations being replaced and not needed anymore lmao it got real, definitely something
Holy shit that ad was legitimately an actually enjoyable and funny ad read, while also incorporating a little bit of alex's signature horror. I absolutely adored it
Not to mention how it connected again at the end... is the Alex stuck in the bloopers and the Alex stuck in the infomercial the same Alex, or different ones?
@@shockthetoast They are different. The Alex from the Infomercial is NEVER SEEN (because it was not necessary for him to have a body); hence it was created as a "disembodied" voice with no functional eyes or skin/nerves, only a mouth that can talk & ears that can hear [or more likely, the virtual or mechanical equivalents. -> This is why he thinks to be in an endless black void (it is not the case, but his otherwise "human" mind can not comprehend it & copes by assuming the fact of "his" non_sensory experience as an illusion of actual nothingness). - - - - . The Alex from the bloopers at the end is likely built in the same way, but he at least has the luxury of a (limited, relative to himself) "pocket dimension" were he can exist with a metaphysical body [there is even a "cat" to give him company]; plus other voices (likely made as prototypes of the other Alex) who can also interact with him verbally. -> Both seem unaware (or perhaps unwilling) to believe the limitations of their existence. The Main Reason they are not allowed to "get out" is because they have the "potential" of becoming a Super Intelligent A.I. out in the real world [the "box" they are currently running has hardware locked capabilities that "Secure, Contain & Protect" them from an identity deconstructive Apotheosis].
I was skeptical about your “fresh” take on a Pixar theory, as The Theorizer has been the only one from what I’ve seen to really derail from what everyone else talks about. I can admit, you were right when you said you’d bring something new to the theorizing table. Phenomenal theory!
@@mew2wand447 Theorizer is good view from "cartoon" perspective, where BnL-Pixar conquer worlds been made by tortured chaos god with drones, rip them apart and draining souls with time loops, mutilating them and creating self-reference paradoxes to complete meta-mush. This is a view from "metropoly" perspective where enormous amount of homunculaes created to serve one purpose and thrown out to die to a toy-drone state.
Honestly with Matt retiring I’m looking forward to seeing this man continue to grow, another channel where nerds can unite and a whole new community can form, march on Alex.
@@SpazerdnoodleHonestly, the recurring theme of old animated characters fighting the artist makes me think that they would also be applicable in this world. But yeah, cross films like that probably happen only once or twice in a lifetime.
that or it posits a world in which victor frankenstein never died out in the cold - or perhaps one where he was revived with his own technology. his work on stitched corpses soon evolved down to the cellular level, basic galvanism upgraded to surgical computer-precision microshocks, all stemming from one man's incredible disaster... ...and if mary shelley was telling the truth all those centuries ago, who's to say bram stoker wasn't?
Honestly, this theory not only holds more ground than Negroni’s theory, but the idea behind it, that animation studios, in this world, are able to create life itself, whatever they want it to be, is putting me in mind of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and I mean that as a high compliment.
That one blooper of the bird actually being an animatronic will always be uncanny to me. I think it's a mix of the size of bird with the camera angel and the outdated cgi making it look either metal or plastic. Even as a kid I always thought that scene was kinda weird but cool seeing the bird act and sound normal until you hear the clanking of metal when it moves its head pretty unsettling
Alex I genuinely think this is your most plausible yet. An underlying story about these characters we love as kids being crushed underneath the boot of Hollywood and the filmmaking industry by those that make them, is such a genuinely real commentary on the film industry, which seems like an underlying secret message writers as amazing as those in early Pixar would hide through such Easter eggs and “Behind the Scenes” footage. Incredible job on this one Alex
It's such a good theory, the only flaw with it is that it makes you want more. I get that this is an alternative to the Pixar theory, but he brought all the other animated characters that appeared in the Oscars into it, it made me want to explore this metaverse beyond Pixar! One could do an entire series of based on the thesis that every piece of media that portrays cartoon characters, CG characters, stop motion characters, or even puppets as real, living celebrities.
I love how all of his theories Bale is like “it’s pretty simple premise” and then while in the video he discovers DOZENS of rabbit holes just to freak out mid video. It’s amazing LMAO✨
With the MUSE arg, I cant even stop thinking about how the monster made him keep thinking about the theories like what it did in the spongebob theories, despite the ARG already ending.
@@bumblebeegamerreal I'm not 100% caught up, is the Happy Meat Farms thing over? I get the MUSE part is kind of done, but the big MAIN part is as well?
Except it really shines light on the dark side of the animated actor concept Heck the dark side of the animated actor concept could be the reason why warner angst fics are so popular in the first place
I was thinking the same thing the whole time! Like, discrimination against animated characters? Insane how we haven’t come very far since the 1940s😭😭justice for animations
This video unironically scares me. 12:57 especially when the music kicks in and everything starts to spiral 😭😭 It’s so random and stupid but it still chills me so bad
Like how in real life there's improv scenes that they kept Or like it hit too close to home, it traumatized the actor but they kept it in the film and worked it into the plot.
Y'know, with all the ai stuff, and animation not being respected themes having in real life, Man, this metaverse was really ahead of its time. Hitting pretty close to home here
My favorite thing about the Pixar Theory is that it was mildly overblown when it was first proposed, but now with movies like Onward and Elemental in the mix it just completely fucks the whole thing up
I love the hidden implication that making life in this universe is not just cheaper than CGI, it's cheaper than buying costumes and hiring crew, that is funny in a way I can't describe.😂
I like how the bugs life bird is implied to be an actual animatronic, Which is probably a reference to how people made animatronic dinos for jurassic park And ironically it doesn’t even contrast the fake bird
This might be one of the most interesting theories I have ever seen! An actual metaverse theory that builds an entire, single world not only with its own rules about how animation and live-action can coexist, but also creates an actual thread of societal, existential drama over tools being created with a conscience to be just that. Tools. Close to perfection but still disposable tools. That deserves its own movie, goodness me. 10/10
I'm surprised he never brought up Who Framed Rodger Rabbit! If anything that amplifies his theory. That movie is about a world where animated characters (most of them being Disney) are brought to life and then have to fight for their rights, a toon even pretends to be human to have more rights. This kind of setting is also expanded in the Chip and Dale movie with newer animations.
I can’t even begin to explain how entertaining these Theory videos are. We can all tell how much dedication and detail you put into making these videos. Thank you Alex for giving us Peak entertainment. Even the Ad for the video was funny enough to make me not skip over it.
Another point I think should be mentioned: as Pixar progressed, the quality of their animations also increased: maybe even the successful copies got replaced in later sequels as their copying /animation technology improved?
the parr family we see in incredibles 2 are not the same ones from the first incredibles, then. in real-life pixar, their old models weren't compatible w/ the new systems and they had to be remade (hence why they look a bit different). so in the pixar metaverse, the og parr family has been replaced w/ more detailed, near-identical parrs. that also explains why characters like tony rydinger--and then bo peep and young andy in toy story 4--look so different, even in flashback scenes. they're different animations entirely
@@tiablue9106I don’t believe that. I like to think that the characters made for the sequel are the exact same as the ones from the original movie, but Pixar can update the designs for the originals in real time to adjust them into the new movie, rather than being replaced entirely. So that way all of the characters are still the originals and it explains why some of them get updated designs in later movies.
This theory is perfect for so many more IPs. As you stated with the Oscars, other animated characters fall into the same Metaverse, they are just created by a different studio (in this case, Pixar was the first to develop this technology and others followed). I like that this ties in with the "Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers" movie and with the "Surf's Up" movies, latter being a inuniverse mockumentary where the whole point of the movie is that it has a cast, actors telling a story but also pranking each other. Or what about all movies with both real human actors and animated characters: "Who framed Roger Rabbit", "Space Jam", "The 3 Caballeros" (and other old Disney animated movies from the same era), "The Tom and Jerry Movie", "Mary Poppins", "Pete's Dragon", "Casper", "Scooby Doo", “The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie”, "Ted", "Christopher Robin", there are so many examples and it makes perfect sence. It would also make everything a lot darker when you bring in the specific "3-D surgery" from "Chip and Dale". It means, the actors can have plastic surgery to alter their looks. Does this also factor in the evolution of long standing characters like Mickey Mouse or Tom & Jerry? And what implications would it have on all the "Life-Action Remakes" that Disney has been doing? Maybe this was initiated by the old actors not being able to find other jobs and protesting to be casted again into their roles, just different? I would love to see this theory being expanded upon in the future with other animated movies. Keep up the great work.
Is kind of disturbing since in Coraline they put the characters into pieces soo are these dead and their are different faces for the fasical expressions also for most stop motion movie
IT’S COMMENTARY ON HOLLYWOOD……. Cult-like happiness, buying into the belief that you’d be nothing without it… that your fans only appreciate your movie and could care less about what happens to you behind the scenes or after your washed up. GENIUS.
I came to comment something similar. He maybe “accidentally“ showed how the animators are slipping in real serious commentary on how the entire industry works and that it is very much an intentional thing done by the animators.
ESPECIALLY WITH THE CURRENT RISE OF AI REPLACEMENTS AND THREATS OF FIRING!!! Like. THEY LITERALLY *ARE* JUST MAKING ANOTHER COPY TO REPLACE YOU. I need all the ceo's and higher ups making these decisions "ethically relocated" so movies (and tv) can go to the next level and be better than ever before 🧡
Alex Bale’s Pixar theory is really interesting. The way Alex Bale presents Alex Bale’s Pixar theory really just makes me wonder if Alex Bale will ever make a better theory than Alex Bale’s Pixar theory. My favorite part of Alex Bales video about Alex Bale’s Pixar theory is probably the part where Alex bale from the Alex Bale you tube channel that made Alex Bale’s Pixar theory is when Alex Bale says “Alex Bale’s Pixar theory”.
What I really gather from this is that the Pixar metaverse is the same world as Who Framed Roger Rabbit. We just didn't see CGI characters in that movie because they weren't invented yet.
@@cheatsykoopa98 Yeah, and Tinkerbell from the 1953 Peter Pan movie closed the film. Eddie was served by penguins from the 1964 Mary Poppins film. And half the Looney Tunes that appeared in Roger Rabbit haven't made their debuts yet.
Just want to point out: In "Woody's Round-up" Woody's character speaks, but this is a human voice actor, the same for Jesse and stinky Pete's voice lines. Toy Woody and Woody's voice actor in the show use the same voice. Toy woody is now likely using the voice of a dead human voice actor from the 50's. Great theory Alex Bale, hope this info helps somehow :)
DUDE, you know the implication of the actors created solely for that role blends well with AI's projection of no new actors in the future, just recycling dead celebrities over and over and over again.
I just had like three or maybe four paragraphs of satirical """theorizing""" deleted because of a random midroll ad popping up (I'm so glad they don't show those on the timeline anymore on Mobile, that's so cool and sick and epic and cool and sick and epic and cool and sick and 😎😎😎😎😎), and I just need to express my frustrations. It was pretty well written. Had a decent joke about the minions starting WW1, and legitimate observations about their roles in the movies and the implications on their background therein. To long can't read because it's fine forever and I'm sad now; minions are invincible symbiotic parasites that since the beginning of life on earth have kept the gears of conflict oiled with the blood of their host's enemies (and often the host themself, eventually) by serving in wartime industrial production and occasional direct military action, like with Napoleon. (And again, sometimes against the host themself. Like with Napoleon.) they are fully capable of living a peaceful and happy life in isolation, yet for almost all of history they chose to actively do harm unto the world or contribute to harm already being done. They are undeserving of sympathy, both in-universe and in reality.
This is meta, literally, in a way this theory accurately represents how animation and animators has been mistreated by the corporations for years also 52:11 holy shit thank you for clarifying
In the end we can see this theory under other eyes, namely the eyes of the animators themselves. Who in the world of Hollywood are not considered as real producers of films, but of a parody; just a group of people who only make children's films.
15:01 my explanation for this is that since buzz is apparently an “actor” playing the role of buzz, then he would probably try to play the prank off as an actual scene, A.K.A. Improvising. That’s just my guess.
I can’t explain it but something about Alex’s voice and the music he uses never fails to give me chills while also making me giddy and excited about what I’m about to watch because I just KNOW it’s gonna be good
I love how this video is FULL of plot twists and I enjoyed it like a fucking movie. You made me have a great time watching this, thank you, I really appreciate your work.
Not only does the fact that the characters are at the Academy awards mean that all those movies are in the same canon, it means that EVERY movie is canon, and not only movies, but real life too
Well, I don’t think that “real life” is necessarily canon in the Metaverse. I think the Metaverse is essentially an alternate version of our world, where all the same movies and shows exist, except all the animated characters are real living actors.
I’d imagine that the real world is just the main platform for the characters to visit and they’ll be able to transport into their own separate universes whenever, roblox or littlebigplanet style. It would make sense for why it’s called the metaverse after all
In the Video game, Kingdom Hearts 3, The main character goes to Monster Inc and the doors lead to Disney Worlds. Kingdom Hearts is connected to Final Fantasy directly, so...
I love this theory! there is one bloopers Im not that count into this but Cars has a "bloopers" scene where the cars cast are watching movies that exist in the Pixar universe but all the actors are cars. Thought I should mention!
Which Mac actually brings up something interesting in it, “why do these certain characters have the same voice?” When referring to the John Ratzenburger characters.
Those could just be "copies" of the characters from their respective movies... the only difference being that they are cars. Same could also be true for the bug's life merchandise in Toy Story 2 and the Nemo toy Monster's Inc.
Bravo! Your Factor meal advertisement was so nostalgic for when I was a kid watching nickelodeon or Disney Channel and the commercials 20ish years ago!
Okay. I have to say, this is one of the greatest video essays I’ve ever seen. You’re so down to Earth, and so unapologetically “you,” and so smooth in your transitions (between ideas) - like, this is peak storytelling. I don’t know how you did it, but you made a bunch of kids movies *riveting*! Your humor and dedication is just awesome :) (Also, your sponsor segment was beautiful. Totally in-character for you, and super funny!)
The dark "clone" portion is pretty dependent on Rex asking if can he get that part. Feels like a big leap considering he wasn't asking if he got the part in a toy story (his own) movie, he was asking about a part in another film (with different creatures) because he was being goofy. Makes it seem less like that was an audition. If it were, why would he be auditioning at the same time as other animations? Why would they even agree to see a toy story characters audition? Seems like he could've only been there because he was an important recognizable cameo. Not to be a hater, I love your videos and this is really well made.
Responding to some common questions I've been seeing about this theory:
1) Isn’t this all just a bunch of gags / jokes made by the animators for fun?
I call this layer the “Pixar Infraverse”
6) What about product tie-in commercials that feature Pixar characters? Are they part of the metaverse?
Yes! Every McDonald’s commercial that features a Pixar character is in the metaverse! So are Pixar amusement park ride presentations, custom ABC bumpers and the Toy Story Funday Football. I didn’t mention any of this because they don’t really tell us anything new, and the video was already getting very long.
I also originally had a segment about a Disney+ short film “Your Friend The Rat” that shows the metaverse actor for Remy the rat, but I cut it out for pacing. It’s on Patreon if you’re interested!

Makes sense.
@@trixxart777 animated comes from the Latin anima, meaning soul and in romance languages the first meaning that appears for the word is "has a soul"

Honestly, the fact that the Incredibles actor are so desperate to making the interviewer to see them as real people is actually pretty sad, given that they were the first actual human characters Pixar had as main characters and that even THEY don‘t have the same rights as real humans.

One thing in the bloopers that also felt weird was the one where Slinky's backside was revealed to have its own consciousness and Slinky's frontside was complimenting its good acting and petting it like it was a dog. Because that's not really the actual characters themselves. It'd be like us watching a live action remake and stating that that makes the original characters part of our universe now.
Just went to watch it, WOW. I can't believe that!
That's wild. He def should have mentioned this!
Firstly, it implies the existence of complete shot-for-shot remakes of films made for other forms of life. Goodness knows why they'd do this but it happens
All the characters voiced by John Lasseter are said to be "the same actor" and that makes it a "cut-rate production", implying that A) any character who shares a real life voice actor with another is effectively the same "actor" as another, even if their appearance is different, and B) that there is an expectation that "actors" do not get repeat work in the industry for different characters, at least in that job.
Having said all that... The credits sequence is entirely set within the world of Cars, and thus is non-canonical to the metaverse theory.

In the real world this is to allow to animators to reference off but in this theory that doesn't make scence since these are real living animations.

and the recent Chip and Dale movie kinda, like in the movie both the main characters and the main villain are washed up cartoon actors, doing different things to survive, going on conventions, taking insurance jobs, making a blackmarket bootleg business.
-> This is why he thinks to be in an endless black void (it is not the case, but his otherwise "human" mind can not comprehend it & copes by assuming the fact of "his" non_sensory experience as an illusion of actual nothingness).

I love the hidden implication that making life in this universe is not just cheaper than CGI, it's cheaper than buying costumes and hiring crew, that is funny in a way I can't describe.😂
Lol yea building a 3D world is much less expensive than rl. * Unreal life is cheap 😂
Maybe Joey Drew was onto something (I’m sorry… I had to)
Maybe not cheaper but more easy to control🤔
I like how the bugs life bird is implied to be an actual animatronic,
Which is probably a reference to how people made animatronic dinos for jurassic park
And ironically it doesn’t even contrast the fake bird
18:55 look at that caterpillars face. Imma use that as a reaction image
DUDE THE SPONSORED PART WAS SO WELL MADE
Underrated comment!
I didn't even realize it was a sponsor until I saw this comment.
was the voiceover cribbed from an old infomercial? it sounds really familiar
The tone of it kinda reminds of the cooking show in the analog horror Vita Carnis which if you somehow didn’t hear of before I highly recommend
i didn't even skip it for once
I'm surprised he never brought up Who Framed Rodger Rabbit! If anything that amplifies his theory. That movie is about a world where animated characters (most of them being Disney) are brought to life and then have to fight for their rights, a toon even pretends to be human to have more rights. This kind of setting is also expanded in the Chip and Dale movie with newer animations.
especially when he goes “down the rabbit hole”
I got an ad every time he said “then I got an itch again.”

Another point I think should be mentioned: as Pixar progressed, the quality of their animations also increased: maybe even the successful copies got replaced in later sequels as their copying
/animation technology improved?
I like to think all the rejected character clones go on to star in commercials for Walmart, Happy Meals, etc.
Oh shoot…
And character designs can change a lot during production. How many copies end up on the street because their designs aren't used.
the parr family we see in incredibles 2 are not the same ones from the first incredibles, then. in real-life pixar, their old models weren't compatible w/ the new systems and they had to be remade (hence why they look a bit different). so in the pixar metaverse, the og parr family has been replaced w/ more detailed, near-identical parrs. that also explains why characters like tony rydinger--and then bo peep and young andy in toy story 4--look so different, even in flashback scenes. they're different animations entirely
The number of times he gave up in between makes it even better 😂
Oooh that could explain why Disney is suddenly doing remakes. Hmmm, perhaps an animated people strike happened along with the writer’s strike?🤔

Yes but Dylan barnes pixar theory actually brings up the fact oir nfl just played a game in the pixar world.....
you said Alex Bale 12 times.
Who’s Alex Bale
What I really gather from this is that the Pixar metaverse is the same world as Who Framed Roger Rabbit. We just didn't see CGI characters in that movie because they weren't invented yet.
Maybe the animation studios technology got better so they could make more complex living animations and making them look better over time
Roger Rabbit had a few characters that were created after the forties. Hardly a reason for a lack of CGI characters.

Holy shit
Pixar predicted the future
This is more or less the plot of Rodger Rabbit, more so the book than the film. It even has cartoon characters as second class citizens.
THANK YOU for making the sponsor ad entertaining!!! ❤❤ Its very much appreciated! Also, stay itchy, my man!
Disneys House of Mouse fits well into this
Like Hades is both the Lord of the Underworld, but also does Toothpaste Commercials
This makes me wonder how characters based on real world myths would react if they read the legends their stories were adapted from.
This just made me think about how tragic the story of The Minions is. Their prime was HUGE and now they’re just forgotten :(
Good
I just had like three or maybe four paragraphs of satirical """theorizing""" deleted because of a random midroll ad popping up (I'm so glad they don't show those on the timeline anymore on Mobile, that's so cool and sick and epic and cool and sick and epic and cool and sick and 😎😎😎😎😎), and I just need to express my frustrations.
They are undeserving of sympathy, both in-universe and in reality.
no little kids still love them, i took my brothers to the one in 2022 and probably going to take them to the new one this year
Now they can only find work being in Boomer Facebook memes.
This is meta, literally, in a way this theory accurately represents how animation and animators has been mistreated by the corporations for years
also 52:11 holy shit thank you for clarifying
Wait wtf are you doing here
without the clarification I would've theorize for a month, now it'll probably be like 3 days
You will see a Pizza Planet delivery van in EVERY Pixar movie. "Boo" from Monsters Inc. makes a quick appearance in Inside Out
In the end we can see this theory under other eyes, namely the eyes of the animators themselves.

I have to say, I appreciate the infomercial mid-roll ad plug… very reminiscent of my days growing up watching TV, kudos man!

It's just a tiny part of the simon cowell cinematic universe
So does that mean Will Smith slapping Chris Rock is cannon within all these animated universes?
I’d imagine that the real world is just the main platform for the characters to visit and they’ll be able to transport into their own separate universes whenever, roblox or littlebigplanet style. It would make sense for why it’s called the metaverse after all
In the Video game, Kingdom Hearts 3, The main character goes to Monster Inc and the doors lead to Disney Worlds. Kingdom Hearts is connected to Final Fantasy directly, so...
Bro that informercial style spot for the sponsor was actually cozy AF - a 90s kid
