S&W J frame, +P JHP rounds from Speer. With a good gun belt I can wear it all day, and it just disappears in my pocket. May God grant that none of us will ever NEED to draw our weapons.

I carry the Taurus Millennium G2 PT-111. Sub compact, great for concealment, high capacity at 12+1. Double Striker Capable which is a great feature for a carry gun.

S&W 642 - I love the reliability of a revolver. This model fits nice for front pocket carry when I'm casual, as well as on the hip when I'm wearing a suit.

Marvin Devers What I like about the 642 is the ability to point and shoot without having to worry about limp writing or other feeding issues. Also, if you're in a situation where someone has the drop on you, you can shoot from your pocket providing them with an element of surprise.

+Powerule I love the my 642 to well. It is my go to CC gun. I did change the grips since the boot grip while very nice was too small for my hand.

+Powerule i just picked up a 642 and shot it i was surprised how accurate it was you can actually stage the trigger and hold it staged with like a 2lb trigger pull,i got tired after 20 years of carrying large heavy guns,im gonna go pick up a bladetech holster for it.

    • @Powerule23
      @Powerule23 8 років тому +1

darton2010sean Yes, there's a video on youtube that shows how to stage the trigger. Once you get the hang of manipulating the cylinder it becomes easier to shoot. It's a great little gun. Very snappy and not much fun to shoot for an extended period but a very reliable defense weapon.

i figured out how to stage it after the first five shots i felt that little valley in the pull,im used to glock triggers but this gun is what is light, reliable.ill put it in the rotation with the g30 and g27

I purchased a Taurus PT111 G2 in February of this year (2015). I have over 800 rounds through it of every cheap ammo I can find.
After six months of tedious research, I concluded that it fit all the criteria I had for my first handgun. Among them being a decent capacity (12+1), two magazines, a size that was acceptable for range use and concealability, economy of price (289.99), and of course reliability. I could not find a negative review about the G2. I have been very happy with my choice and would feel confident carrying it when I am properly licensed to do so.

I'm an old guy and grew up with revolvers. My favorite carry is a S&W 642 airweight in an IWB holster and extra ammo in strips. Extremely accurate, reliable, and fast for it's intended purpose. You might also find an AR-15 in my trunk.

S&W 642. I live in Florida and wear very light clothing, shorts, etc. The 642 can be put in a pocket without weighing it down.
I also keep a Glock 30SF in my vehicle.

In June 2014 I purchased a Smith and Wesson J frame revolver, a model 442, for summertime carry. I have carried it every day since! I absolutely love this gun. It has less potential problems than a semi-auto, simply because it is simpler in operation. It can never fail to feed, fail to eject, or have a bad magazine. I never thought I'd like any gun better than my Smith and Wesson M&P Shield 9 mm, which is an excellent concealed carry gun, but I do. With much less sticking out behind the trigger, the revolver is much easier to conceal. I generally wear it in the appendix position, but can pocket carry if I want to, even in jeans. For its intended use (close range self-defense), it's more than capable enough. Weighing only 16 1/8 ounces loaded with Hornady Critical Defense, it's barely noticeable to me, and practically invisible to others. I've carried a 1911, an M&P45 Compact, an M&P 9 mm Shield, and this 442. In my opinion, the J Frame revolver, airweight, with enclosed hammer is the best tool for the job. The enclosed hammer makes it snag-free, and keeps crud out. It also might be good, if God forbid I ever have to use it, because a shyster lawyer won't be able to claim I had time to pull the hammer back, and therefore wasn't really in danger. In short, I like just about everything about the 442. The only change I made was to replace the original synthetic grips with some really sharp looking wooden service grips. Of course, I said they were more comfortable, but the real reason was I love the way they look. Don't tell my wife.

I've had my PPS M2 LE now for about 6 months now, and use it as my EDC. MagGuts makes a magazine spring that will allow you to carry one additional round in any magazine you have, 6, 7 or 8 to increase it to 7, 8 or 9 and really make it competitive with some of the other makes on the market. I carry the 7-8 round mag in the Sneaky Pete holster with the 8-9 mag in my OWB mag carrier, which is a PitBull Tactical Universal Mag Carrier which holds all single stack 9mm and most double stack 45mm magazines. I have installed the DPM system in it also. I have been carrying it in a Sneaky Pete holster but I also use a DeSantis Superfly, if I want to put it inside my pants, which works very well also. I also have installed XS Bigdot sights on it which makes it a little easier for my older eyes to see with. I love my setup. It is in my opinion - PERFECTION for EDC.

For what it's worth, I was in LE for 20 years. My primary off duty gun went from a KelTec P11 (the original) to a Ruger SP-101(love wheelguns; didn't mind the recoil much) to a Kahr P9. My backup was first a,steel J frame and then later a Taurus 850 (same as a 642). In warmer weather i went to the Taurus in a ocket holster. That worked well with shorts and polo shirts. Sometimes in the winter i carried a Glock 30 in a high ride belt slide holster (DeSantis Mini Slide). I like 45, the gun is quite accurate, and it was fairly easy to conceal under a shirt jacket or longish sweatshirt. Do not rely on your outer jacket- you may have to take it off. Plus it is inconvenient to keep a jacket on when u are indoors for awhile, such as in a restaurant. And people notice, which might draw attention to u. Hope this helps

My first, and still my favorite, carry handgun is my Ruger SR9c. (I like it so much, I now have two: one for EDC when home, and one for travel.) So I'm glad to see it mentioned here. It hasn't met ammo that it doesn't like, shoots far more precisely than I am accurate, has a fantastic trigger (I prefer the heavier pull for a carry gun), and since I'm a southpaw, I appreciate the ambidextrous safety and magazine release.
Note: I'm not "in the industry"; I'm just a guy who has chosen to exercise my right to keep and bear arms daily.

Edited to add: I carry generally using an Old Faithful leather-Kydex hybrid IWB holster. So incredibly comfortable, at this point I don't even hardly notice it. One thing about the SR9c, though: finding an OWB Kydex retention holster (left-handed) is nearly impossible. I had to get one custom-made at the Indy 1500. (The Uncle Mike's Reflex holster would be perfect, but it's only available for the SR9c in right-handed.)

I carry a Beretta 92a1, I chose it as my first gun because I wanted a gun to just about anything. Large capacity, full size grip and reliable. Although it it on the heavy side when fully loaded I have learned to deal with the weight knowing I have plenty of stopping power if it is ever needed.

I have not got my Concealed Carry license yet, still fairly new to shooting, but do plan on getting it in the future. I bought a KelTec P-11, the sub-compact 9mm, mainly due to mostly positive reviews online and a good price for people like me that are new and on a budget. You can usually find them for around $250 or less brand new, they come with a 10 round magazine. I highly recommend buying the magazine extension it you have big hands, runs $7-10 dollars and you can order it online. The P-11 is small, decent fire-power with 10 rounds, and very reliable. Once broken in and properly maintained, it doesn't miss a beat. For a new person, it couldn't be any easier to field strip and clean. Putting it back together has a little trick that might throw you off the first time, but overall very easy. As far as ammo goes, my P-11 will take anything. Steel, Aluminim, Brass, I basically buy what is on sale and let it rip. Steel will cause a failure to feed occasionally, but overall does fine for practice. The manual does not recommend +P, and I have never tried. The drawbacks are no safety and a very hard trigger pull to make up for that. In my opinion the trigger can be a deal-breaker for some, and can cost you some accuracy. With quite a bit of practice, I have gotten used to the trigger pull and can group pretty tight at close range(7-10 yards) The sights are good but not great. This gun will also beat you up a little when firing at the range, due to being so small but having 9mm caliber. Overall for the money this is s great gun for CC and home defense, but does require being broken in, regular cleaning and maintenance, and lots of practice to be truly effective. You have to keep in mind that it is made for close-quarters self defense, not competition, and in doing so you will not be let down by the P-11.

My EDC is a Taurus Model 85 Ultra-Lite in .38 Special. Love having a small lightweight snubbie with full power capability. Plenty of aftermarket parts to choose from. One thing I did not like was the double action trigger pull. Popped in a new trigger spring kit from Wolf and the factory double action pull of 13 lbs. went down to a respectable 8 lbs. Made a world of difference and now its just a blast to shoot. I carry Hornady Critical Defense 110 gr. .38 Special +p in my 85 plus 2 speedloaders just in case ;)

I personal carry a 9mm Ruger P95. I carry inside the waste band at the small of my back.
I love this weapon and would recommend it to anyone who is ok with having a little larger style sidearm.
To be honest it dose some times feel a little large and heavy for concealed carry, but I have gotten used to it over the years and now I won't leave home with out it.

Summer carry = S&W Shield in 9mm. Carried in an In the Waist Band Holster (IWB) - It's easy to conceal under a T-Shirt with the IWB from Cross Breed. For someone with big hands, the extended 8+1 magazine is easy to grip. It also comes with a 7+1 magazine which is even easier to conceal, but doesn't allow the pinky finger to grip the gun. It's a gun I can practice with without feeling like it's a chore.Lastly, it has a safety, which I like to have the option of, even if I don't use it much.
Winter carry = Ruger SR9 - Carried IWB when I can wear bulkier clothes. It's comfortable, has a very clear chamber loaded indicator, and a safety if you want to have that option. Love this gun almost as much as my full sized S&W M&P in 9mm. I prefer to have a double stack magazine when I can. Here in NY, this gun only holds 10 rounds, but the standard capacity magazine is 17 rounds.
Hunting carry = SIG Sauer P220. When I'm out hunting, I carry this sidearm in a standard hlster, outside the waist band. I prefer the higher caliber, heavier bullet for protection against mountain lion and such. I might switch this up to a 357 or a 454 eventually, but I just haven't been able to bring myself to purchase a revolver yet. God those things are ugly! anyway, I digress.

For summer carry I love the Sig P238 just for convenience and size. My Glock 26 is my favorite CC gun hands down. I take both to the range with me every time I go just to get more proficient and comfortable with each. One is hammer fired with a thumb safety (Basically a baby 1911) and, of course, the Glock is striker-fired with no thumb safety. Good to be comfortable with both in my view. Good video, thanks for posting.

Taurus G2 for a great CCW gun. Goes bang every time and does not cost a bundle. If your new to CCW keep in mind its not a beauty contest and the gun is going to get banged, scratched and worn on the corners. Shoot the hell out of it, gain faith in it, secure it when its not on your side and yes its expensive but range shoot the ammo you are going to be shooting when your in CCW mode a few times. The Taurus PT 709 is also a great option for a single stack. Gun shops will not push them as the profit margins as not as great as other guns and I can appreciate that.

Springfield Armory XDS 9mm 3.3 inch barrel, very slim, single stack 8 rounds.
Under barrel rails for light option as well runs great with " olight mini valkyrie".
This combo is my late evening and night option with apendix cary IWB holster from "multi holster" company.
Prefer the above carry as it easily conceals and is not bulky for IWB.
XDS is great as it incorporates trigger and grip safety both have to be depressed at some time for gun to fire.
Day time use is same as above 70% of time but still occasionally carry by M9 Beretta due to 15 round mag capacity and proven reliability with slide safety as well.

I have 4 of the most popular single stack 9mm pistols. Glock 43, Shield, XDs and Walther PPS m2. I find myself pocket carrying the Glock most of the time because it has the best combination of size and weight and the ability to have a lasermax guide rod laser that doesn't make the gun any bigger. With a +1 magazine extension, it's still smaller and lighter than my other single stacks with the same capacity.

Springfield xd subcompact .40. Very reliable and durable. Holds plenty of rounds while still being small enough to easily conceal. For anyone who may be interested, the xd subcompact is a 3" barrel, the standard magazine is 9 rounds it also has an extended magazine of 10. I always carry in condition one (one round chambered) for the extra round and readiness. You can also get the firearm as a 9mm. I chose the .40 simply because that is the same caliber as my service weapon and was used to it. I don't think there is any major differences between the two so if cost is a concern go with the 9mm because rounds are a little cheaper.

I happened upon a 642 no dash a short while back. Same as the one you have but it has a rounded latch release, no coating on the frame, instead it looks like a brushed stainless, no lock, pre MIM parts and that two tone look really stands out more on the no dash. Only 12,227 of the no dash 642 ever made. There are an awful lot of 642 fans out there that would love to get their hands on this. I'm taking it to a gun show coming up with NY premodel 10 snub and see what I can trade for. It would have to be an old Colt or Smith revolver though. I have some nice fake pearl magna (panel) grips on it too, it looks great.

I'm new to firearms, but have just purchased a Ruger GP 101, a Glock 17 and 19, and and an AR-15 and a 12 gauge pump, all for Home defense, I don't have a concealed carry permit but when I go to Walmart I bring OC spray and for my walks I take that and a stun gun. Several times during traffic rage incidents, I'm glad I didn't have a gun with me, I wud have used it instead of simply driving away.

+Randy Phillips Hi Randy, Ive carried several years & onec you start carry, you actually take a different mind set. Things that may have bothered me before, i ignore. I pray that neither you or I ever have to use a weapon, but i decided years ago that neither myself or my family will become victims without at least a fight. Even if its justified, all the legal fees will probably ruin you, though money means nothing as long as you survive.

I carry a Glock 30 most of the time, and sometimes on warmer days when im wearing shorts and tee shirts, ill carry a Glock 26. Im a big guy, over 300lbs, 6'1" and have been using an inside the waistband holster by Crossbreed. Their holster is very comfortable and allows me to conceal very well but i typically wear darker colored shirts to help conceal even more.
The reason why i choose Glock and the .45 is simple and i think most people know why, but for those who dont...Glock is a proven combat gun...it works enough to trust my life with it. As far as the .45 caliber, i figured if I, have to defend myself with a gun, then im gonna be defending against 500lb bubba or a drugged out large crackhead, and im gonna need to make big holes to stop the threat as quick as possible. I tend to expect the worst, that way im covered.

I switch off between a Taurus PT 111 G2 and a S & W M & P 40C. I prefer the Taurus because it is lighter and holds 12 +1 of 9mm where my 40 C is more hefty but carries 10+1 of 40 S & W. I am equally proficient with either gun. I handload for both calibers and practice at the range weekly. I carry factory ammo for protection and shoot enough to know how it functions in my weapon.I am a retiree and a V/N era Army veteran.

Everyday I carry a Para Expert Carry 1911 (3" barrel with 8+1 capacity 45acp). I use a desantis cocked and locked leather belt/hip holster designed to carry round in chamber hammer back safety on, also with a gould and goodrich leather double magazine holster. When I am in dress clothes to where the 1911 is too bulky (due to my profession) I carry a S&W Bodyguard 380 with built in laser and a spare mag in my pocket (6+1 capacity 380acp). Both are extremely accurate and reliable. They both fit my hand like a glove. I have never had a single issue with either firearm. I prefer to carry the 45, but in instances where it is too large for the situation, the 380 is perfect.
For my wife, I got her the Ruger LCR 38 Special +P with Crimson Trace laser. She does not have near the amount of firearms training as I do and wanted simplicity+reliability. The LCR has the laser that is on as soon as she grips it, so wherever the red dot lands is where the bullet is going. If a round does not go off, it is double action so all she has to do is pull the trigger again and doesn't have to worry about racking a slide or clearing the weapon. There is no external hammer so it will not snag in her purse or on her person. She keeps a loaded speedloader in her purse. Typically she carries it in a Flash Bang holster or her purse depending on the situation she is carrying in. For her the LCR just makes the most since.

I carried a S&W 9c for a number of years but switched to a Canik elite SC with a Swampfox red dot. Iron sites co-witness. I also carry a J-frame in an ankle holster. 2 is 1 and 1 is none plus with a j-frame if you have to make contact it won’t go out of battery. It may sound like overkill but if you end up on the ground that j-frame might save my life. People will say why carry a double stack. Well because nobody ever in a gunfight said I wish I had less ammo

I carry a Glock 23 in a Galco Triton holster during the colder months when its easier to conceal and it just fits me... feels nice to carry and I shoot the best with it. When its warmer out and I am wearing a t shirt I carry a Ruger LCP in a cheap Uncle Mikes soft holster with a belt clip.. I don't like carrying the LCP if I don't have too but it is very concealable and versatile. I would like a Ruger LCR 357, or something small in 9mm.

Have had my concealed carry license for 34 years. Depending on the time of year and the places I'll be carrying (casual, lite weight versus dressy perhaps warmer clothing), I switch between a Glock in .40, to an XD in .357 Sig, or really lite weight to a Ruger in .380 with laser. I own many calibers by many manufacturers, but I find myself drawn most likely to a firearm in the .357 Sig.

I also use a blade tech holster in the winter. It fits the bill. I carry apex, it works well for me. I’m trying a FN 509 T, this might be my next carry pistol. In my opinion nothing can replace the USP by HK. I was just looking for a modern platform. I’m interested in a red dot. This is becoming the new standard for us tactacool guys.

I switch between a glock 19 and a glock 34, with a spare mag in a pocket mag pouch. The grip on the 34 is just slightly longer than the 19 and the increased velocity and faster target acquisition from the much longer slide is a plus.

No 1911's? They're some of our highest selling pistols here in Arizona. Anyone who is SERIOUSLY getting into firearms as a beginner but KNOWS they will soon be or are already head over heels obsessed, you need to consider a production 1911. Trust me, if you're a true gun enthusiast there's a really good chance you're going to end up with a nice custom shop 1911. Might as well start the addiction now!

Hey!! I'm glad I found your channel through Corey during the scar 16 video. I'm 43 and I have carried a gun since I was of the legal age to carry. Now more than ever I feel the need to carry even stronger due to an accident at work the broke my back in 5 places. I'm on disability now and I am weaker and would have major problems defending me and my family. I have owned many good guns but had to sell them when I was off work to support my family. I carry a S&W 9mm pro C.O.R.E. the 4.25 inch. With a trijicon rmr. I am really wanting to get another glock 19 for my main carry, its a little smaller. I have an Enforce light on it also. I carry it in a custom kydex holster. I am wanting to take a class with Corey and Erica. Sorry so long thank you!!

Lovin the new channel keep the videos comin! I grew up with a gun in my hands, so I've been around them a while. I appendix carry a full-size M&P9 right now and it is very uncomfortable for a somewhat slim guy like me. My next handgun will be an M&P9 shield, I love the reliability of M&Ps. To me Glocks and Sigs are the only things that are on the reliability level of M&Ps. But Glocks lack ergonomics and Sigs have big pricetags, so the S&Ws are a good all around fit for anyone(especially leftys like me). Just some advice for newer shooters, full-size is too big.

Taurus Millennium Pro PT-145. It's about the same size as the Glock 26 (9mm/10+1) and holds 10+1 of .45 caliber.
I am really considering moving to a Glock 26 just for the rep and popularity of it but man at exactly 6 inches long and 5 inches tall this PT-145 is very concealable, comfortable, easy to shoot, and reliable. I have about 300+ rounds with zero issues. I really love it…

I have a Taurus Tracker in .357 magnum. I chose it because it is a large caliber and hold seven rounds in the cylinder. For a revolver that is high capacity. It has a four inch barrel that is ported from the factory. I use a revolver because even though I have and like semi automatic pistols, all of them have jammed on me at some point and you don't want a jam in a defensive situation.
