Hmm.. I think it is a matter of personal values. For example, I would prefer a well educated, thoughtful, quiet man than a well groomed, romantic one.
The communication thing could be problematic but people forget that it is a skill that can be learned. And, (though I can only speak from an American perspective but) communication is a skill that most couples struggle with.
I think regardless of culture and nationality, the most important thing is whether or not a partner is willing to grow and learn to sustain a healthy relationship ❤

I agree wholeheartedly. I'm American and don't remember the last time I was with an American man. I guess there's not anything wrong with them, but foreigners are simply more interesting. Variety is the spice of life, I suppose.
Edit: one of my close friends is Hungarian and living in the US and loves American men, which baffles me. But when someone brings up Hungarian men she's just like 😐🙄 I think women just get tired of their compatriots and want something new, and I'm guessing many men out there feel the same too, lol.

The Finnish guy I dated for more than 4 years had a lot in common with a typical dude described by those ladies. He was not a drunkard though and paid attention to his looks at least when with me. I cannot tell for sure, but I think it takes them a long time to devote themselves to a relationship and only when they do, will they be more straightforward, talkative and open about their feelings (not all the time though.) I am Turkish, so not the romantic stuff or compliments, but talking about feelings is a HUGE thing (for men as well!) I wish he had been as open. I feel you ladies, but also I believe that some of your fellow men are worth the effort. Don't lose the hope. Neither of the two parties.

As my experiences with my Finn friends and my Finn bf, well, we can’t judge that they are all the same, but I agreed that most of them won’t talk about their feelings and dressed badly, but my bf is dressed nicely luckily!! All of my Finns I met, they are all polite and have good manners, but they are kinda introverted and shy people and I think these are a nature of Finns that we can’t avoid.

I'm a Finnish woman and as a very talkative person who wanted a guy with the same energy I was pretty much never dating until I moved abroad
It took me ages to begin to understand my boyfriend and his closed-ness, before that I would extract things from his "with pliers" as we say here. Being closed and quiet used to offend me so much, but I grew to understand it.
Now, we understand each other and try to respect each other when it comes to being too open and vunerable. Keeping open mind is important, respecting the culture of your SO even more. Lots and lots of talking is important, communication saves the day most days.
My greatest fear was alway bring left because I cannot fulfill something for the man I love, but if we talked about it we would learn Im perfectly capable and willing to provide (fetishes, fantasies etc)

I think part of this might be the "foreigner effect" where the foreign men may (at least initially) be more polite and respectful because they are not sure what the rules are, what is expected of them, etc. Also, if there are even slight language issues, it tends to make people more careful and polite.

I don't think he ever made a video about the topic so i'll share my experience based on opinion from Finns who have been married and dated Finnish women
Giving some context my mom (Latina) married a Finnish guy abt 2 years ago who was married to a Finnish woman for about 15 years.
I came to Finland at the beginning of the year, i've been to festivals and b-day parties and to my surprise there is a good amount of middle aged and young dude's that are either married or in a relationship with a foreign woman (mostly Filipino, Latina and some from Eastern Europe)
I've had the chance to politely and respectfully ask the reason making sure i'm not offending them but instead as a genuine concern since i wan't to try and date a Finnish woman.
They say in summary that Finnish women are very demanding when it comes to control the boyfriend/husband lives and habits so they end up doing whatever the wife or girlfriend says as to avoid getting "b*tched" at and therefore the relationship/marriage becomes really toxic and they feel trapped and miserable, other's just find a foreign woman more attractive and exotic because of their body features (just like the case of Finnish woman towards foreign men)
Also they said that foreign women tend to be a little bit more permissive, appreciative and proactive towards the relation, they don't ask a lot from them and you can keep them happy with little details.
In addition they also said that foreign women are not that concerned about looks, "you can look like sh*t but just don't smell like sh*t" one Finn said to me lmao, so they like that foreign women are more carefree when it comes to fashion.
That's pretty much all i can recall, i was kinda intoxicated when i had those conversations hahaha but i could notice that most of them were really shy and reserved dude's once i meet them sober.
No competition. Finnish women prefer finnish men. Not getting this from a "report" but instead knowing actual finnish people.

100% agree with you. Anyone who has actually lived in Finland would affirm that women prefer local men. To be honest I find most of his videos misleading as he bends the truth either knowingly or just a bias.
In Greece we believe that the Finns behave very well to their girlfriends/women.

Well, it is quite demanding to get through the winter, if you think about it. I think these qualities were selected for in the Finnish population in both men and women. A finnish person visiting e.g. Africa might be astonished by the relaxedness exhibited by people, cause they think, traditionally, this would kill them if applied to their location

Finnish guys concentrate on being honest, smart (high science scores), and tough as hell when necessary (The Winter War). Guys with lots of "game" and bull sh..t are often lacking in toughness, and intelligence. Be yourself, and the right lady will respect you.

One thing which worries me however is that Finland might be the happiest Country on earth but they are also the divorced capital of the World too, I am afraid of committing to a relationship to a Finish Woman because of that but will always admire them for all of the other qualities they have which you don't find in other Nationalities.
I can agree with all of that. I have a finnish ex, but all of that was listed here, is the same as my ex was and is. Also he was quite aggressive in his behaviour, without alcohol and unfortunately, he is not taking care of his child at all and make excuses to see our daughter. She is now 2 1/2 years old and he barely sees her. For me, and her, very difficult. I don't get any break, he has free time the whole time (he wants to have 5 kids though), and my daughter is asking me for her dad and I have no idea what to say. It can probably happen in any country with some men, but when I look at the streets and talk with people, many are in the same situation as I am. Terrible.
That's crazy. Things like this happen very often. In my experience sometimes i have mixed thoughts about my father, even if he's "been" in my life along with my mother i would prefer to have him apart because he was not worth it. It was like a shallow person whom negativity and frustrations dragged others around him down. He is very manipulative, compulsive and a liar person, and i would say that didn't added good things to my mother's life. So even though he's been with me he wasn't like "actively present". My mother worked her whole life to maintain me, my brothers and my father, but nowadays i live with her and she's divorced, i never seen my mother being so happy during her whole life as she was in the last three years that's been divorced.
I know that you probably don't want to be with him and just want him to pass time with his daughter but sometimes people doesn't see how assholes and selfish they're being.
I hope that with time he's gonna learn to love his child but there's not much you can do about it. Being a parent is a hard task, and in you case is even harder doing it "alone" but it's gonna be worth it.

I always wanted that they come back together, but it never happened though. I think they would have been a good couple and since today I still don't get it why they divorced.
That's not healthy for your child. A child always benefits with having a father in the home. Couples should not be randomly having children if they're not sure of their own compatibility.

My Finnish friend has suffered a lot and indeed complained about Finnish guys, not being able to commit to a relationship, only looking for sex which they do not even excel at, poor communication, poor manners, no life perspective. So yeah, obviously, foreigners look like beef steak, especially the Latino ones, very passionate and courteous. Foreigners that come to Finland also probably move to stay so building a relationship and a home for them is serious business. Ofc I am sure there are also exceptions on both sides, I also know a happy Finnish couple or dubious foreigners, so it depends. Also, from my own personal experience, Finnish guys have a lot of cringe moments, so try to be more open and jolly, sex is nice but not everything in a relationship, which should be a partnership, you have more wins to take from that.
Just a nitpick here, but that excelling at sex part. Nobody excels at sex. Everyone is average no matter the nationality.

I've been living 3 years in Finland and I can tell it's true that women like foreign guys more but that doesn't mean they'll date foreign men.
I've noticed that women are very often judged harshly by people of their inner social circle if they date foreign men. This is very sad but that makes them just not date foreign guys since they don't want to be judged and go against the wishes of their fellow Finns.
That's because they can't have what they want. But ironically, they are not doing anything to approach the opposite gender.
Finnish guys and girls just don't match. The ones who do, don't think these sort of things. Let's all just date foreigners and be happy 😊

@@ratyjoona south of France! we don't have many blondes here, they are quite rare. And the women prefer these features over darker ones, the only issue is going to be language barrier since french people tend to have poor English skills, so it's going to be challenging to find someone if you don't speak French since they rarely speak fluent English.

i’m pretty sure the hookup culture and the curiosity about foreigners is a universal thing, at least in the western world… the only difference is that finns are honest about it, don’t hide their feelings
I guess it depends on the girl but I like modest guys. I would say I prefer a guy that is not too much in my face but he approaches me in a calm manner without trying too hard to show off things like how much money he earns which is showing off how well off he is. Finnish men tend to be more relaxed when it comes to money and not show off as much I would say from what I’ve seen and I like this.

interesting article but i do really think it's not at all representative of reality. i can 100% assure you 9 in 10 finnish girls prefer their local dudes (at least outside of the helsinki area).
just to put some perspective into this, one of my finnish buddies who is more or less on the same looks level as i am has over 200 tinder matches, i have just over 15, all my finnish friends have a hell of a lot more success than i do even if we're on the same “level”.
what more? i went clubbing twice in norway in the summer and i was sittin by myself, girls came and talked to me in three occasions, i go clubbing in finland every weekend and that's only happened once to me in probably +100 times.
just because a few finnish girls have a fetish for foreign dudes doesn't mean that's the case with your average finnish lady, finland is the most homogeneous country in western europe and it shows in topics such as these. i could dig deeper into it but my comment is long enough 😂

One should consider the fact that we do not value or find appealing what is mostly around us, in this case the characteristics of Finnish men from a Finnish Women's perspective. While I have enjoyed my time with Finnish girls or other European girls quite a lot, I could never really get along with girls of my culture so I can relate to this quite strongly.
Imagine that you move to Finland because is a quiet place and discover that woman talk x1000 more than in your country and you just need some silence hehehehe

I seen many rude or sad or unhygienic or no respect to women at all types of guys within different nationalities. It's also a problem of genetic diversity. If the population of the country is quite small, the level of genetic diversity among people is low, and because of that guys and girls don't want relationships with people of their own nation, but are interested in foreigners. In many countries even government supports more close interaction between different nations, because multinational children are usually more healthy and talented. Finnish guys and girls don't like each others, because they subconsciously don't want genetically similar partner. Forcing them to talk more, change their style and haircut, giving more respect and romantic stuff, simply will not help. I think, invitation of people with Finnish roots, like 50% finns or 25% finns will help. When I came to the repatriation program for people, who were forced to become Soviet sitizens after the winter war, only children of native finns were invited, grandchildren were not wanted and they should have leaved Finland after age 18, when it is no need to live together with their repatriated Finnish parents. But I think it was easier for 25% finns to integrate in Finnish society, then for people without Finnish roots.
Us foreigners in Finland are used to talking to women in order to date a woman. Outside of Finland (in the real world) if you aren't aggressive and talk to a woman.. You won't be dating.. Period. In Finland.. Finnish guys aren't aggressive enough to survive outside of Finland and meet women. That's just how it is. I'm from DC.. Been living in Helsinki for 16yrs. It's just super easy to talk to a girl here in Finland.. Compared to other countries

And after this video understand why foreign women are so interested in me.:) I've noticed that guys elsewhere are not as deep as finnish guys, and they talk and talk but they not mean it. Yes, we can have it both ways, and it's actually quite simple. Equal rights doesn't mean ignoring gender differences. A guy can appreciate his girl, be romantic, do small gestures for them, but also respect that she's bringing in equal money, share the chores, etc. If you think about it, your idea of empowering must still be tightly related to masculinity, that's why it's probably difficult to imagine a woman being powerful and "girly" at the same time.

If you are being called sexist when you demand stuff, it probably means two things: 1. you are acting sexist and 2. you shouldn't demand anything lol. Nobody should.

I say so because the dynamic between a couple inside of a relationship/dating context is different than in the workplace. They come home, cook, clean, take care of kids, take care of her parents or her husbands parents etc. and she's required to pay 50% for food, rent and other life expenses. Meanwhile, the husband comes home from work and does absolutely NOTHING to help her. The amount of women who are overworked is sad.Is that equality? Not really. This works for girls in poor countries, where your job/status/wealth is very important. Girls in the West all have jobs and can take care of themselves.
