Communication is only effective when both parties are ready to LISTEN. Otherwise it's just going to become an endless session of speaking with no conclusion whatsoever, and then both can accuse each other of not understanding their points. There are so many people like that, not in Finland but in general, who preach about communication all the time, really loud, pretending to be extremely honest and open minded, and then when you happen to say something they don't like, then they suddenly lower their voices, whispering you that you're definetely on the wrong because of this or that, or they are just silently sneaking away from you and avoiding you. So ... if a woman sees a male Finn who seems to be a reasonably evolved human and with whom she would like to have a relationship, the first thing she needs to do is invest in a really good ice axe?
I have been living several years in Finland and I can conclude that there is no real will of establishing a relationship of love between two persons. So basically we shouldn't date Finnish people because: - They do not engage in unnecessary talking which makes conversations more meaningful - Flirting isn't as important so that means romance and/or sexual tension matters more - There's gender equality - They're really good in bed - They let actions speak louder than words
I met a Finnish guy about a year ago. I really liked him too but it kinda scared me when he said “I love you” the first time we met and he was asking me to go to Finland with him. From my perspective when he said that he loved me I instantly thought that he was ‘love bombing’ me because here in North America “I love you” is thrown around way to much so I didn’t take his words seriously and I didn’t know how to react. I honestly don’t know how to respond to something like that because I never dated anyone before so… how do I know that he’s actually being serious. Also we haven’t talked since September and it’s now April. Should I just let go and move on? I need advice.
So I went on a date with a Finnish girl and we had a good time and invited her to my house without any pressure, she said she doesn’t have sex on the first date so I said no problem, I’m not expecting anything like that. She ended up sleeping over but when we were in bed, there was no touching and she didn’t seem to want to be touched or hugged, so I left it as I didn’t want to be too pushy. This is something I am not used to at all because she messaged me after and still seems interested but I don’t know whether to ask to see her again. I’m quite confused to say the least but I can’t deny it’s keeping me interested - please help 😂
She liked that you respected her boundaries and made her like you even more. Seems pretty clear, in my opinion. I think next time she may be ready for more physical stuff.
Hmmm ok, but what would you say is the difference between a Finnish Extrovert and a Finnish Introvert, if both sides of Finns spectrum have a deep mental state of introversion? How is a Finn-ex different from a Finn-Int in that case? Not saying you would have an answer to that, but any suggestions?
It's very easy to spot them because they know how to talk, how to make a conversation, they're aware of the weaknesses and the shyness of Finns and they usually like to spend time in other countries
Was cheated by a finnish man there in Finland. We knew each other dating site and he came here once in my country. We were planning of marriage but then he went astray after sometime. He cheated on me. Seeing his thai ex without me knowing. Later, God had revealed to me as I caught him. I like Europeans but they ended up cheating.
I don't think they're even that good for casual hookups because you'll meet them 1 or 2 times at most. After that they'll get scared that they're getting too attached to you and will leave you
I think because sex is just a “meat need” whereas emotions are profound personal things. You can have sex without love, but love is a lasting and important emotion. So, it seems to me that the Finns have the line drawn very sensibly.
@@cproteus That's a shame but understandable. I found also even it's hard for them expressing feelings to a friend or family, thats the thing i find concerning, in long term this can lead to depression

So, when would you say that you love someone in Finnish? Is it something couples say often or every once in a while? I feel like i need to hear my "i love you" pretty often as a non Finn :p

bro i think that the chart at 6:45 is not correct. only 1% of finnish couples divorce? i thought it was the opposite and that finnish people divorce more than people of foreign background because somewhere i saw that divorce rate in finland is over 50%. and i know that in other countries from where people come to finland divorce rates are much lower.

my boyfriend (i guess?) is Finnish, he told me, "I wont say the L word", I understand now. but how about calling "honey", "baby" or something like that. is that uncommon to say as well? he always calls me by my name.
Ask all of your foreign friends who have married a Finnish lady and know what they will advise you. Mostly, they are divorced 🤣 and advise you not to do it. Marriage here is not a sacred thing.
For example, if the mother is Finnish and the man is foreign, the man can't really leave the country if he wants to be part of the child's life and if the woman wants to stay in Finland.
The finnish guy replied to msgs in 8 to 12days. His msgs were respectful, but i don't think he was interested so there it ended 🙂. He's too silent 🤦♀️.
In some cases where there are disagreements between the parents, the court may rule single-custody. Also, if you're a foreign father in Finland and divorce and you want to leave Finland, you may not see your child because they would live in another country.
"minä rakastan sinua" feels so like stupid to say i much rather say "i love you" doesnt sound clunky or anything not like its hard to say in finnish it just feels stupid to say
Paying their own bills/splitting should be the norm everywhere. Women also work, so they can pay their own part. "Equal checks mean equal rights" - quote from the Donna Reed Show season 8 episode 16 (1966). I like the fact, that in some countries women dare to make the first step in dating and not waiting for the prince as shy, little girls. I also like that is totally normal for finnish men doing housechores or taking care babies. In my country (Hungary) there is just a little progress in this matter. I wouldn't say women have no rights but our politicians said and still say sexist things in our Parliament. Of course, Asian and African countries are much worse than my country but still Hungary should change in some things.
This sounds like heaven for a gay man who's a social nudist and prefers direct communication. Sex being how you get to know a person works for me as well.
I had some kind of a relationship with a Finn. It started online and I was very casual about it but he was really forward and complimentary. We live in different countries and I’m not an eu citizen, so I couldn’t see him. He promised me to visit me here. Aleksi started making dating videos again. You should make a dating course.
Many people will pay for your dating course.
I'm actually consider doing that. :D
@@AleksiHimself Maybe you could decide to do it. 😅
@@AleksiHimself i would pay for that shit
It’s like that were I live, people don’t want relationships anymore. They only want hookups.
Yeah, but Finnish hookup can last 18 years...
So basically we shouldn't date Finnish people because:
- They do not engage in unnecessary talking which makes conversations more meaningful
- Flirting isn't as important so that means romance and/or sexual tension matters more
- There's gender equality
- They're really good in bed
- They let actions speak louder than words
I like your positive approach to the topic!
@@AleksiHimself Thanks! ^^
I wish we were more direct and less small talk here in america, we are the LAND of small talk
@@AleksiHimself thanks!
This is where your Terminology comes in "No Bullshit, but straight to the point"
Yep!
It's very easy to spot them because they know how to talk, how to make a conversation, they're aware of the weaknesses and the shyness of Finns and they usually like to spend time in other countries
a Finnish extrovert will be very much an extrovert by any standards, almost like they needed to compensate for their compatriots' introversion
As a young man I think I channeled my inner Fin. I was totally awkward meeting people.
I see!
So essentially, Fins are good for casual hooks ups, but not committed relationships. Over 40% of both men and women cheated is very high.
After that they'll get scared that they're getting too attached to you and will leave you
why are they liberal about sex but not expressing feelings or emotions?
Tbh I don't know.
@@RocioSanchez-df4tp it can, but for some people, internal feelings are private… and I think that makes it special when shared. To never share it… yes, it’s a sadness, but when it is shared, it is significant.
Well..., maybe because you don't have to talk (as much/at all) 😉
I have been chatting with a Finnish woman online for a year now, I hope someday we will meet in person.
My Suomi forebears emigrated a couple of generations back for work. I wish they had stayed in Suomi.
Interesting!
@@AleksiHimself Suomi reminds me of Lothlorien.
Dancing. There are places that hold them with live orchestra and all - - they're just made for meeting people. Or were. Not so sure if they do that anymore.
Great tip!
Thing is I'm English and I'm exactly like this so I really don't think you can generalise
Thanks Sally!
So, when would you say that you love someone in Finnish? Is it something couples say often or every once in a while? I feel like i need to hear my "i love you" pretty often as a non Finn :p
My GF and I say I love you around once per month. We'll let each other know if we change our minds.
I have been convinced by a few stories of the value of not investing a lot in first dates. Being able to bail out anytime is definitely valuable for first dates ! Eveb tho Ive never needed to, I would recommend to abide by this.
You can invest but reasonably. :)
That makes no sense, you can "bail out" whenever you want even if you have invested already
@@sanher20 true, its just harder or longer at some point
bro i think that the chart at 6:45 is not correct. only 1% of finnish couples divorce? i thought it was the opposite and that finnish people divorce more than people of foreign background because somewhere i saw that divorce rate in finland is over 50%. and i know that in other countries from where people come to finland divorce rates are much lower.
Its a Beautiful Country with Beautiful People , Great for Dating but with the high rate of Cheating something long term like Marriage would be a bad idea . I would love to go there for a good visit though with the Hope of meeting someone for Marriage .
High rate of cheating compared to what?
Hi aleksi . Thanks for the video, I'm coming this September. Can you advise me which city is better in terms of living and everything and you know as an outsider . thank you 🐦
The capital area is very international with more job opportunities. Other cities like Tampere, Oulu, Turku are also good but not as big as Helsinki.
@@AleksiHimself is Rovaniemi a good city to Settle in?

i wish to have boyfriend in finland or getting married..but im a ladyboy hehe
I love that thanks 😊
Good stuff! 😃🙌
I need to check out the dating scene since I am a black nerd from Canada.
Is it easier to know amongst teenagers who attend school together who likes who?
I think you can figure it out from their body language and behavior.
I am so aroused by the warmth and exterior friendliness of Finns! Now I want a Finnish guy myself! 😂
Good stuff!
Good video
Does this apply to both female and male?
my boyfriend (i guess?) is Finnish, he told me, "I wont say the L word", I understand now. but how about calling "honey", "baby" or something like that. is that uncommon to say as well? he always calls me by my name.
I think it some people have that kind of mindset. Does he behave like he loves you?
I being a female would always pay for my first dates. Why, because I knew I wasn't going to be putting out.
I really liked Finland, but good in bed... mmmm.. but I really enjoied talking with Finnish people, I found them open and talkative.
Ask all of your foreign friends who have married a Finnish lady and know what they will advise you. Mostly, they are divorced 🤣 and advise you not to do it. Marriage here is not a sacred thing.
Relationships are complicated all around the world... The part of sex is the same as in Brazil
Thanks Ingrid for sharing the insights!
Hi! Is it alright for an international masters student to ask out his first finnish language teacher!( maybe after the semester!)
I don't know. Sounds like a risky move. If it doesn't work out, it could get awkward.
Why would you to that? Hitting on your teacher is a line to NEVER cross....
if you really want to do it, do it after the teacher-student relation has permanently finished between you two

@@entertainmentyoutube3606 sorry to hear that
@@AleksiHimself it's ok, I liked your videos and subscribe even with that, is just a suggestion 👍🏻
@@AleksiHimself New subscriber. Your command of English is excellent. I understand you perfectly.
Why if some one divorce she cant see her chikd again?
I mean the scenario where you would like to go back to your home country but the Finnish parent wouldn't.
I don’t understand that children one ? What that mean? Does it mean they can’t take their children and leave if born in Finland??
For example, if the mother is Finnish and the man is foreign, the man can't really leave the country if he wants to be part of the child's life and if the woman wants to stay in Finland.
The finnish guy replied to msgs in 8 to 12days. His msgs were respectful, but i don't think he was interested so there it ended 🙂. He's too silent 🤦♀️.
Fair enough. Sounds like he wasn't worth your time.
aleksi why r u looking sadder in the newer videos
I don't know.
@@AleksiHimself u good?
I could not understand the part of divorce. Why does he or she can not see the son? Is not illeagal to do that?
In some cases where there are disagreements between the parents, the court may rule single-custody.
Also, if you're a foreign father in Finland and divorce and you want to leave Finland, you may not see your child because they would live in another country.
Is the gay dating scene the same?
Good comments
Thanks!
"minä rakastan sinua" feels so like stupid to say i much rather say "i love you" doesnt sound clunky or anything not like its hard to say in finnish it just feels stupid to say
I know, right! :D
You looked like my ex boyfriend 😂
lol what a wallpaper !
I hope I don't freak out any Finnish women if I want to marry a Finnish woman and take her to America with me.
Aleksi giving away Finnish secrets. 🙄🤣
Yep!
Very true 👍!
Thanks for watching!
What about lesbian dating and queer culture? Could u interview some people?
This sounds like heaven for a gay man who's a social nudist and prefers direct communication. Sex being how you get to know a person works for me as well.
erm…,,
I had some kind of a relationship with a Finn. It started online and I was very casual about it but he was really forward and complimentary. We live in different countries and I’m not an eu citizen, so I couldn’t see him. He promised me to visit me here. After a few months he even asked me if I am interested in getting married to him🤯 but he didn’t fulfilled any of his promises. I actually went there to see him, and turns out he made himself a new gf in the city🥲🥲 i got my heart broken💔 funny enough, he still texts me sometimes🤦🏻♀️
Sounds like he was a bad person. Good that you don't waste more time with him.
