Loctite uses the elements of the metal to cure. So, if your threads are coated, the loctite needs a primer. Loctite sells this primer.
Note, this primer is also need for precious metals, pure aluminum, Incolnel, etc.

Yeah, those things have vexed me many times. Some things require some forcing and it's always a struggle for me because I HATE forcing things. Then I'm sitting there trying to figure out am I being a wuss or is something actually not right. Ran into this removing the receiver extension off of my Benelli M4. Couldn't get it off, spent hours with different torches, wrenches, etc. Was certain I was just doing it wrong or going to damage something. Was about to box it up and send it to someone and they said "well you can do that and I'll do it for you. But are you really sure? Make sure you really hit this part with heat and use this wrench here. It's going to take a fair amount of force and you're not going to hurt it." So I buckled down, went back at it and eventually prevailed. Was definitely out of my comfort zone on forcing things. But I also know I'm a bit of stickler because I hate scratching things and whatnot, so I know I'm overly cautious.
Of course a lot of that is having the experience to know what the situation is. Someone who does it a lot can likely tell the difference between "wow they went tight on this at the factory" and "okay this piece is machined totally wrong and needs modification/replacement." Whereas I'm still new into my career of modifying and building firearms.

You should probably use an action rod like the one from geissele to avoid sheering the pin.
