    Extremely good information on how bcg's are made and the hows/whys JP enhanced the original design. This is exactly why I bought a complete BCG and SCS! Maybe one year i'll get a whole JP rifle as a gift :D

    Finally purchased a full BCG this past spring, I'll never run a different one again, they are by far the best I've run.

    I assembled a large frame rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor. I immediately started having problems with primer pierce problems. I ordered the JP HP bolt and it fixed it.

      What Bolt Carrier are you using? I have a complete Wilson Combat BCG for 308, but my primers are blowing back into my BCG. I was curious if their Enhanced JP Bolt and firing pin could drop into my Wilson Bolt Carrier.

      @@JDCali459mm I'm using an Aero BCG. I bought both the bolt and firing pin. My rifle is chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor which seem to be more problematic than .308.

      I also built a large frame 6.5 CM, blowing primers out occasionally, using Wilson Combat bolt/carrier with Wilson match barrel. Prints 1/2 MOA groups. I'm looking into a JP bolt to correct this. Did you guys have any POI shift with your JP bolt?

    We need more high quality 7.62x39 AR bolts. Wish JP made one.

      Chamber depth on 99.9% of the 7.62x39 after-market and factory barrels is too deep for the extractor lip. It really would do better with a Grendel bolt face that allows a thicker extractor lip.

    I first came into contact with JP years ago when I was looking for better trigger springs for my mil spec triggers. The springs were so good that they're in all my rifles and pistols that have mil spec triggers. Since then I've bought several other products from JP and they're all awesome

    finally installed a dual ejector bolt and BCG. It flat out ended the double stacking and loading issues from the prior single ejector model. Used JP Ent, bolt extractor and ejector enhancements which did help but for the AR-10 LR 308 formats dual extractors are the way to go.

    Thanks for the information. I just bought a jp enhanced bolt. Out of curiosity I did the drop bolt test, and the bolt did not remain extended, man, was I worried . Lol. Felt a sense of relief after you guys mentioned that it’s normal and it was designed to have that looseness or level of tolerance

    Ben, I absolutely look forward to the beginning of every month to receive the JP newsletter and see you both on UA-cam with new products. Superb and the beard looks good. So, when will the 6mm ARC be available since it is such an incredible round and a lot of manufacturers are carrying them at this time. Natuarlly, they are not JP. So, I am waiting. Stay safe guys, see you in Sept,

    I just built a 6mm ARC, got a tip from someone saying your low mass BCG solved a feed problem, so I just installed it in my AR today...test tomorrow. I already run JP parts when I can, but can't do all JP right at first as I did not win the Lotto last week (would be buying complete JP rifle if I did). Have not picked up the SCS yet, so I'll have to get by for a bit. Anyone have a good idea where to start on the adj gas block going from full mass to low mass BCG? I'm of the mind set I'd be doing damage if the gas was full open, or is it better to start there and turn down between test rounds until sweet spot is found.

  • @ssharma1384
    @ssharma1384 Рік тому +2

    I have two JP bolts and they are nice but they need to use 3 gas rings instead of one . These bolts are somewhat gas inefficient and you may very well run into problems shooting weaker rounds . Sprinco has has excellent , dirt cheap gas rings you can buy and install quite easily . Otherwise an excellent BCG.

    Are the jpbc-2a bolt chromium nitride or dlc? Is one better than the other

    • @JPRifles
      @JPRifles  4 роки тому +1

      All of our bolts are DLC at this point. I'm sure you can find arguments both ways, but we switched from chromium nitride to DLC a few years back. We found it superior for hardness and lubricity and easier to process consistently.

    Stopped watching when I heard "9310 bolt material"
    Phosphate C-158 HPI & MPI or go home.
    Boutique parts in guns are like little dogs in purses...

    • @OpSecClyde

      Why when there is data of a properly treated 9310 bolt being better?

    • @ahole5407
      @ahole5407 2 роки тому

      @@OpSecClyde if that were the case then they would be tested before being sold.
      10% of C-158 that are HPT and MPI fail and do not make it to a customer. That's QC.
      Non of the 9310 bolts are tested and the heat treatment for that material is much more difficult to get right.
      How does one know that it is right without testing?
      The answer is simple. The companies that sell 9310 are banking (quite literally) on the fact that customers will not use their products repeatedly for high round counts or sustained heavy use, such that is seen in military applications. The hope that you buy it shoot 20rds and throw it in the safe to sit.
      It would cost the manufacturer to much to ensure that you got a part that you could bet your life or the life of others on.
      In closing, sometimes shit looks good on paper, but when it comes to real life application it most often does not hold up to scrutiny.
      Edit: notice that I didn't even get into the hydrogen-induced cracking issues that are compounded with coatings such as NiB and Nitride.

      @@ahole5407 Not gonna lie you kinda lost me. All I will say is I have a 9310 bolt that has 15k rounds on it without issue. Sample size of one but if buying from a company that knows what they are doing they can be good and to just write it off is ignorance at best.

    • @ahole5407
      @ahole5407 2 роки тому +2

      @@OpSecClyde 15k round counts and what I said lost you? Ok...
      Bottom line, no serious user would go on good faith when it comes to material safety. That's why material certs exist. And if a company won't test the products they produce you just have to ask yourself why.
      9310 came about because carpenter did not want to up production for the civilian market. They have been around for 100 years and make their money from government contracts. The demand was high and companies looked for an alternative that was "just as good" it just so happened that the 9310 was also cheaper because it wasn't owned by Carpenter.
      Keeping with cost savings they skipped the QC testing, expecting that if someone his run the gun hard and it broke they would replace it knowing that vast majority of users would not get to that point. It was a calculated business decision.
      All of this is fine for "sport" or recreation, but when it comes to having a firearm that you trust to keep you alive or others alive, it's not a game and you will demand documentation of testing to ensure that what you have will perform vs going off what someone says (or don't say) on a commercial.
      Look at the SOLGW BCG and the video Mike put out. The only company that I know that lists full specs on their bolts and carriers. It will be obvious why they have been sold out for close to 2 years.

    • @OpSecClyde
      @OpSecClyde 2 роки тому +1

      @@ahole5407 The reason you lost me is cause you said people dont use their stuff. I had a feeling you were a fan of SOLGW which do make decent things but the comment about bolts failing prematurely was about improperly treated bolts. There are some units and pretty tier 1 dudes that run 9310 bolts. 158, 158+, 9310 and A100 all seem like good materials but if you buy from a reputable company 9310 edges out 158. I've had multiple 158 bolts shear at 10k rounds and I have one that has seen 15k and is fine. Just don't think its fair to shit on something without first hand knowledge especially when there are data points that refute it.
