A vibrant $15NZD Marketplace find! This one was a great piece to work on, the pink paint was thick, loud and absolutely everywhere! I knew there would be a lot of sanding with the potential of no reward, but, it did not disappoint!
The brass inlay and hardware complimented each other very well and although I had reservations about the paint colour as it went on, it all came together quite nicely for a neutral yet elegant look.
Very happy all the paint stripping and sanding paid off and this piece will have a few more trips around the sun.

UA-cam suggested you to me and this video earned you a new subscriber! Excellent work, sir.
Chuffed, thank you so much. Lovely to have you on the channel :)
This pink monster popped up and oh boy how beautiful you made it love it well done keep up the good work you are really talented well done
It was a pink monster indeed! Thank you very much for your kind words, so nice of you :)
Sand before stripping… why have I never… dude! You just changed my life 😊
Gives the stripper a head start, pleased you found a useful tip in the video! Cheers 😎
Yeah not something I've ever done this either but it increases surface area so it makes sense. Good tip, not too fussed on the masking tape technique though, it looked like it didn't work well, the lines weren't crisp.
I’ve never seen anyone do an inlay like that before. Super impressed and the final result looked amazing!
Thank you so much, I try to do the best I can with the tools I have. I really enjoy working with brass accents and look forward to testing my abilities in future projects, I have a few brass ideas I’d love to give a go! Thank you for your comment 😎
It's awesome seeing a fellow kiwi flip furniture. I can actually get the same products you use and try them myself.
Your work is beautiful. Thanks
Woohoo, thank you :) Glad you find my videos useful!
I like the color matching
Thank you 🙏
Very nice work and a good outcome. The baby rising was hilarious!
Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed the baby feature :)
Nice background music! I couldn't stop dancing. 💃
This makes me smile, thank you 😊
OMG. You did an amazing Job on this piece. I Love, Love, Love The brass inlay‼️ THAT was educational ‼️
Thank you so much! I am so pleased you found it educational, lovely compliment!
What an amazing transformation!! I love pink, but not on furniture. I much prefer green. It's gorgeous.
Thank you very much, yes pink certainly has a time and place!
@@flipitnation But not on furniture, houses, or cars. Lol
I’m subscribed to dozens of furniture flipping channels and I’ve seen over a thousand transformations. I thought I had seen all the hacks and techniques, but your video proved me wrong twice: sanding before striping and applying paint with brush before smothing it with roller! Thank you! Gorgeous work! I love how clean and high end the piece looks because of your attention to detail and choices in color, stain abs hardware. The extra layer of creativity with the brass inlay was the icing on the cake. You should have hundreds of aubscribers very soon!
Thank you for another lovely comment, I really appreciate it! Such great feedback and it motivates me to keep at it, UA-cam can be relentless at times so thank you!
Fun video, cute baby cameo. Loads of work with the pink paint EVERYWHERE but the results were fab and new handles were a brilliant cover for the hot mess that was left from the old ones.
Thank you for taking the time to comment, pleased you enjoyed the video. The pink paint was intense and certainly took some patience but yes, the results were rewarding!! Thanks again 🙏😎
Where are you from? Welcome to my you tube experience. This was a great design and carried out well. Thank you.Hello to the BabyBob floating up at the end
I am from Christchurch in New Zealand, where are you based? Thank you for your kind feedback, my son often features in my videos, he can't help himself ;)
Extraordinary improvement. Not at all what I expected. Very nice.
I even surprised myself, thank you Susan 😊
Omg that pink ! I adored those curvy handles great job !
It was certainly bright! Thank you :)
Stunning! I think I’ve found another favourite channel!
Thank you, what a lovely comment! I appreciate that :)
No-one would think they were the same set of drawers. I love what you did. They are super chic. Can I buy them 😂 love from UK 🇬🇧
Loved the pink
Each to their own :)
Beautifully executed! I love the combination of the leafy green and the timber finish with gold inlay and handles. Superb!
Wow! Love the inlay! That deserves a sub, my new friend!
Thanks so much, appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment 😎 cheers for the sub!
Looks great , much better than the pink. Great job!
Thank you very much 😎
Nice flip overall. Love the inlay.
Thank you, yes I think the inlay was a good final touch!
You have a good eye for these pieces. Excellent job!
Thank you for saying so, I appreciate it!
Very very nice!! That I lay really elevates it!!
Glad you like it! Thank you 😊
Hi from Cambridge UK. This is a lovely renovation; both choice of finish and standard of workmanship is first class. You kept the pace and content moving at a good pace and I enjoyed the ‘quirky’ touches too.
Thank you for your lovely feedback, I really do appreciate it. I am very happy to read you enjoyed the fast pace, it’s something I am trying very hard to achieve on my channel. I hope the UK brings you a top notch summer this year, I’ll be over your way for Xmas - freezing no doubt 🥶🤣
Love the color and wood stain. Brass was beautiful touch 👍🏼❤️
Love all the sanding and how you showed each step of the process.
Thank you, I find it hard to know how much people actually want to see so I appreciate your feedback!
Nice work!
Thank you very much 😎
💜
Totally enjoyed your personality! Your little one is a cutie!
Lovely comment, thank you 😎
Love the fast pace of your channel. Beautiful work, the inlay was a nice surprise.
Thank you for the positive feedback, I appreciate it very much 😎
This is stunning we need more furniture flippers like you 😮
Thank you so much :)
Beautiful 👍😆
Thank you so much 😀
Not gonna lie, keeping that top raw and not painting it was definitely a good move boss, came out great!
Thank you for the feedback, appreciate it! Cheers :)
Wow that was cool! I liked the camera work and I love your style!
The dresser looked good too :) new sub
Thanks so much, the camera work is time consuming with my old iPhone but it’s enjoyable to edit!
Thank you for the sub, new sub for you too 😎 Look forward to browsing your work!
😊 This piece is BEAUTIFUL!! You did an AMAZING JOB!!
Another great video! Your killing it!
Do you have a link to your socials?
Aw thank you, too kind 😎
Great job. This is the second video of yours that I've watched. Love the brass inlay and the handles from Kmart 😁. I live in Ohio in the US. Kmart's have all but disappeared around here. I miss them.
Thank you, I do LOVE a brass inlay! My wife is obsessed with KMART and I am slowly catching on - especially since they started selling a few DIY things :) I hope all is well with you in OHIO, hi from NZ!
I really liked the inlaid brass strip and the shape of the brass drawer pulls. Nice work!
The inlay has certainly been a hit, thank you for taking the time to comment. Appreciated 👌🏼
Great job 👍
Thank you very much Andrew 😎
So, I liked the painted part, which is odd because I normally eschew the pigment in favor of the look of wood. And normally I like brass but not this time. Those pulls remind me of 80s. As a survivor of that decade, I have stories that would curl your paint brush! I think I’d have opted for black or dark bronze hardware, if it were me. But you salvaged it from that pink paint job, for which we, the drawers and I, shall be eternally grateful. The work is, of course, brilliant! Well done. Hope you made a small fortune in the flip side.
With original work like this, you should expect your channel to blow up. Subbed for sure.
Thanks so much, really appreciate that! I surely hope so :)
Oh man do I love this piece! Ty for sharing
Thank you so much, I really appreciate you taking the time to comment :)
Very nice 😊
Thanks 😊 Have a nice day

This turned out NICE!! Everything looked so good together.
Thank you, relieved it came together well!
Fantastic!
Thank you very much 🙏
Nice job. Love the color.💙
Thank you, I was a little unsure of the colour at first but happy in the end 😁
Cool. Looks good.
Cheers mate :)
Wow it turned out beautiful.
OMG amazing !
Thank you :)
You did a really great job!
Thank you for saying so 😎👌🏼
love it, subbed from Ireland.
Thank you, welcome to my channel :) Can't wait to visit Ireland one day!
Nice
Cheers 😎
New subscriber here, great work, love the brass inlay and the color. I think the hot pink would have scared me away from it right away 😂
Thank you for the sub, I really appreciate it. And thank you for your kind words, very encouraging 😎
Amazing
Thank you :)
Came up great! Good work!
Great job Mate, look's Brill have a nice day !!!. Brian UK !!!.😀😀👍👍.
Thank you! Cheers! Hope all is well over your way :)
Another Less is More project. A lovely shade of green, and if you had put a strip of brass inlay on all the drawers it would have been too much. A great project.
I loved the music. I was bopping away on my chair whilst watching you strip (paint) 🤣🤣. Shame you didn't put a music list up.
Superb. Love the colur💚
Thank you! 😊
Lucky! You guys still have a Kmart.
It’s about all New Zealand has 😂😂
Oh wow!! Greetings from California.
Pretty
WOW!!!
Beautiful
Just found your channel. I really like your editing!! It made the video feel paunchy, idk how hehe
Thank you, I appreciate the compliment 😎
Nice.
‘Prep for the Stripper’ I’ll admit my mind went elsewhere
❤❤❤
Thank you :)
Beautiful. I didn’t care for the dark paint color, but combined with the natural wood and brass accents, the end result is stunning.
Yes, crazy isn’t it. I wasn’t convinced about the paint either! Very happy in the end though, just have to trust the process sometimes 😅 Thank you for commenting!
Wow. Amazing.
Thanks a lot 😊
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
🙏🙏😎😎
wow!
What a statement piece! Beautiful modern dresser. I liked that you waxed after applying the stain .. I haven’t thought of that. Thanks for keeping the video concise and under 15 minutes! Subscribed.
Thank you for your great feedback, I’m still finding my way with the length of my videos, trying to hit that 10 minute mark - getting closer! Thank you for subscribing, I really appreciate it 😎🙏
👍
Cheers!
1:26 raised some expectation with „prep for the stripper“ 😅
I had a laugh to myself when I played that back, pleased I wasn't the only mind to go there ;)
👏🤩💕
🙏🙏😎
This might help, something I learnt which may save you some paint/stain. Do your last sand with 240grit. in between primer and paint 400 grit. All your wanting to do is knock it down a little to get that smooth feeling finish for your paint to go on well. If you make any repairs with spackle, touch up those area's with clear top coat. Seals it so that paint or stain doesnt seep into it as it's still porous. That way you wont get slight colour deviation. My trip down the youtube rabbit hole netted me some good tips, thought I'd share and hope it helps. Loved the inlay that was boss level. Your bubba is seriously adorable🙂
Love the tips, thank you so much. I will most certainly put them into action for future projects 👌🏼 it’s amazing what you can learn from UA-cam, and equally amazing how watching one video magically turns into a 4 hour episode 😂 🍿 I’ll be sure to let Sonny know he is getting lovely compliments from my fellow UA-camrs 😎 Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment 🙏
Good advice..
Looks fabulous! The before and after is stunning 👏🏻
Would you mind explaining why you used a brush and a roller for the paint job instead of spraying it on like you did with the primer? I always thought that would give you the most even finish 🤔
Hey, thank you 😊
It wasn’t a colour I would use often so I only got a small tin and sadly it wasn’t enough to get to the minimum line on the spray gun. I only realised that once I was home with the paint. Won’t make that mistake again - hopefully!
I would highly suggest buying and using a belt sander. Cleans/sands what youre taking off in lightening time. And why aren't you using the airless sprayer? It is some much better.
Looks great but one tip, the base of your router has 2 flat sides for a reason. Ride the flat edge of your router against the straight edge, not the rounded side. You could accidentally twist your router and get kickback that would ruin your piece and potentially injure you.
So essentially I should be routing from left to right rather than pulling toward me? It seems odd with the placement of the flat side and handle position. I wonder if this router has an attachment missing, I actually borrowed it. Might be time to invest in my own! Cheers
Nice. 👍👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Thank you 😎👌🏼
How many layers of paint were on this piece? Pink, blue, yellow, white . . . yikes. You revealed such a beautiful wood grain on the drawers, and I love that brass inlay and the hardware.
I loved the dresser!! The brass inlay was genius! I subd... Kmart - they are like walmart in the midwest of US to you all in NZ. Hey I wondered if you could tell me what the picture on the wall behind your finished dresser is - love the colors and would love to have one for myself. Thanks again. Great job.
Thank you so much for your kind words, I really appreciate it. I can't wait to visit a Walmart haha, they are always featured in American movies! The picture is by Frans Snyders and called "Concert of Birds, 15th Century", it is actually an art work on our tv - The Samsung Frame. We have a subscription to an Artwork library which means I can change the artwork to suit the piece I am photographing - very convenient! Thank again :)
I just found you channel great zippy video cool shots, beautiful work. But the music oy I had to watch it on mute.
Haha, fair call on the mute button! Thanks for the constructive feedback, appreciate it 👌🏼
That turned out so nice! What brand and color of green paint did you use. I really like that shade!
I was shocked when you said you got the knobs from K-Mart. All the K-Marts have closed in the US!
Hey, thank you 😊
It’s called Resene and the colour is Taieri, I think only stocked in NZ and Australia, sadly.
So many people have been shocked that K-Mart is still here. It’s huge here, it has a bit of a cult following to be honest. It’s probably the largest and one of the very few department stores in NZ. My wife (and many other people I know) go there in the evenings just to browse as it’s open until midnight and you can spend hours there 😂
Wow, that looks incredible! Beautiful work! Can you please tell me the name of the Cabot’s stain colour you used? I paused the video where the tin is shown, but can’t see the colour of the stain?
Thank you so much 😊 The stain colour is Crabwood 👌🏼 It’s been a great colour for many projects 😎
The inlay was perfekt 👌 Love the result. Just wondering what all that sanding is doing to your hands in the long run?
Awful to awesome👍🏻
Thank you :)
Nice work. Just some advice…pick different music.
Advice or opinion? ;) Haha, I am getting mixed reviews but I'll take your comment onboard. Thank you
Wonderful transformation! How did you know there was such beauty just waiting underneath all the pink? Love your work!
It was a bit of a risk but I could tell from the weight of it there was some timber of sorts under there, although the copious amount of paint probably contributed to that weight, haha! Appreciate your comment, thank you Kathy
10:07 ;)
You still have a K Mart?
I get this comment a lot, K Mart is hug in NZ and Australia. Very successful over here!
👍👋🇲🇽
Did you sell it? Can I ask how much for?
I sell my pieces quite cheap so I can move them quickly as I flip furniture daily and I need to free up space. This one sold for $200, I try to ensure I am sitting at around $50 an hour for flips (excluding dry time of course). I generally list pieces and they are gone the same day so the system works well for now.
I really like those videos but always sad to see the use of products bad for our environment….😢
Fair comment, I can only hope the many pieces I have saved from landfill somehow balance it out. I will also be more mindful when buying products, thanks for the reminder.
Great video but the music is kind of annoying. good job on everything else!
Cheers, lucky for that mute button hey. Just out of curiosity, is no music and just the noise of the process your preference? I’m still trying to work out what’s hot and what’s not. Or is it just the particular music I have chosen for this video that grinds your gears? 😂
@@flipitnation I have to say, I somewhat agree with Daniel about the music. I rather enjoy the sounds of your process with your intermittent narration. The music can be distracting.
@danield7526 respectfully, I disagree. I kinda like that he is trying something different. So many restoration channels are all doing the same thing. I thought this was a fun change of pace. Very exciting to watch - but to each their own :)
Thank you for your feedback Kim, I’ll take it on board for consideration 👌🏼
Thanks Daniel. It is hard to find a point of difference and but I think you have appreciated what I have tried to achieve. It is hard to find a good balance 😂
Nooo! You painted it! After stripping all that paint you repainted it? What did it do to deserve that? 😭
It gave me a splinter. So I painted it.
