One of the best things about watching your videos, which I enjoy greatly, is that we don’t have to listen to irritating music in the background. Thanks for doing such a great job!
Stunning restoration! I'd be hard-pressed to call most of it "music." Watching an artist at work with only the sounds of a work in progress is very soothing. Not to mention the birds singing! "Silence is the language of God, all else is poor translation"
So much hard work. It always lifts my spirit to see a magnificent old quality piece like this rescued. So many are just set out on the curb to be lost forever.
@@FurnitureFlippingForProfit You won't believe what some "restorers" do with unique beautiful furniture, turning it into just wooden boxes and show their job on UA-cam. 😢
Beautiful piece and you truly did it justice. So many today just paint everything k it warms my heart to see the attention and care you have shown here.
People lacking knowledge of antiques and how to maintain such incredible wood art pristine usually cover it with paint 🙄 to match the curtains in the living room …. Glad that it was saved and restored !!
Imo, paint is a nice accent and more appropriate for damaged or poor quality wood. Imo. It just feels as if good wood has a soul and needs to breath and be seen. IMO. respectfully.
Seeing the beautiful color after one swipe of the towel on the metal hardware made my heart skip a lil beat… Stunning. I love seeing a family piece come back to life.
A beautiful piece, 'rescued' from a particularly hideous paint job. Why folk cannot appreciate the beauty of natural wood, I will never know. All credit to you, and thank you for sharing.
That is just absolutely gorgeous. I hope the man who gifted it to you was able to see it completed. I wonder if he wanted to have it back in the family? How amazing would that be. You did a beautiful job on that ..........just gorgeous.
You did a fantastic job with this piece. It was so lovely to see all that beautiful wood appear from underneath the paint. I'll never understand why some people think that rescue and renovation of furniture just means paint over everything!
You did yourself proud and I would love to have seen the reaction of the gentleman who gave the piece to you that had so much sentimental value. Some pieces are just crying out for TLC to bring them back to their former glory and you did a magnificent job. It took a lot of patience and elbow grease to tackle this forlorn piece, but the results are amzing. I am glad to have just found your channel!
Oh I also have to add I love the quiet peacefulness of you working on your furniture. Oh and how I love the sound of those birds singing in the background. You have more to say in your silence than all the chatter and drama of other channels I’ve watched. They need to take a lesson in podcasting from you. A picture is worth a thousand words when painted by a master.
This is a perfect example of why NOT to paint your old wood furniture. The amount of work put into taking off the old paint is incredible. Wonderful refinish.
I just found your channel today. Wow what a blessing you are! I started refinishing furniture back in the early 90’s. I’m from New Hampshire and vintage and antique furniture was abundant and cheap as almost all of it had to be refinished. Most of it was covered in sometimes what seemed like 15 layers of paint. No computers or internet back then so I spent my weekends at barns and nobles reading books from furniture masters on how to strip and refinish and bring my pieces back to life. I refinished mine the same way you do except for the car sponge…what a great idea! Then in the early 2000’s shabby and cottage chic hit the seacoast where I lived. I jumped on it and opened a store. No chalk paint back then so once again I spent my weekends at the bookstore reading everything I could get my hands on. I learned to prep and paint like you. I got to know most of the business owners who did this in my area and was shocked to see some of the short cuts in their work. Then came the chalk paint and while everyone else was painting without prepping and waxing I was still prepping and sealing the same way. Several of my business friends thought I was nuts. I charged more and always explained to my customers why. I would never buy painted furniture that was just paint and waxed so I couldn’t do that to anyone else. I also required my vendors to refinish their furniture the same way. I closed up shop in2013 do to a sick family member that needed a lot of care and haven’t painted or refinished anything since then. I’m now in Florida and needed a large cabinet for my now small apartment. That’s how I found you. I had this what appears to be cherry wood tv armoire that must way a thousand pounds! It’s probably 20 years old and I’d say very expensive with great bones but the color is uuuugly. I’m going to paint it white and with discovering all the new paints out there now I was hoping I could skip the prep. I watched hundreds of videos before coming across your channel. So glad I did. Your extensive paint comparisons and applications brought me right back to my senses. There are no short cuts in life. I just can’t thank you enough for sharing your expertise and integrity of the work you do. You are a master at what you do. Your furniture is beautiful! That sweet man was also a wise man that gave you his cherished sideboard. That style of furniture was never one of my favorites as they are always way too dark. I’ve never seen Jacobean in that color. I guess that’s why everyone painted them. But yours is just gorgeous. Thank you again… I’ll be watching every video you put out❤️
Thanks so much. I wish you could see it in real life. The finish is sooooo smooth! The car washing sponge puts a thin layer on and then I built up the layers so it is just perfect!
As I have mentioned before, I LOVE that you use common sense, down-to-earth solutions for simple issues like cleaning the hardware. There is no need to spend buckets of money for specialty concoctions when you can do it with simple ingredients. This was a lovely recovery. I hate when beautiful wood like this is covered up with paint when there is no need. Good job!! I always learn from you.
Thank you Mary Kay. I try to show viewers how anyone can do what I do. You do not need expensive tools or supplies. As you can see, I used very few supplies and tools to create a beautiful finish on this antique buffet. Thanks for being a loyal viewer!!

Well done. It’s a lovely Jacobean reproduction piece and you did a great job. Historically Jacobean furniture was a lot darker (we have several original 17th century Jacobean pieces that have been handed down through the family) but this piece is just beautiful with this stain.
I truly appreciate how you respect each piece and bring it back to its glory. Taking the time to remove the hardware and restoring it to its beauty, instead of changing it, or painting over the hinges makes your process so professional. I admire your work and appreciate the before and after of each piece. Thank you for sharing.
I appreciate that! I try to show you how to finish the entire piece so you can learn skills. I don't really take any "short cuts". For example, I take the doors off and remove the hinges. I remove the drawers from a dresser to paint or stain them. To me that is the "correct" way to finish a piece of furniture.
I am so impressed! this is a wonderful piece of furniture for a small home, storage, not closed at bottom, could use top. thank goodness it found its way to you.
