👋 Are these colors just trend colors that will only be good for a couple years or are they considered colors for stable for 5, 10 yrs. I need stable colors that are t just a trendy fly by color. Im not sure what you really call it other than classic but I'm not sure that is what I am wanting. Help!!
Any just about anything neutral is considered to be timeless. From off-white to dark chocolate brown/black. It starts to become a trend, when brighter colors are used like red, blue green, yellows...etc. it's best to leave those colors off the furniture and use them for home decor instead since that's interchangeable.
Beautiful & it turned out so awesome. Love it!
Love this flip.
I personally like the dark wood color and the old-fashioned look of furniture. I’ve never been one to like the “sleek, modern” look. But it was still fun to watch this video.
depends how long it takes to 'refinish' - time is $$$
I was the same
Me too. I couldn't stand the Ikea type furniture.
yes for some reason me too. Dont like the ornateness.
The newer style is what people pay top dollar for. Gotta cater to the market. The original dresser sold for only $5... I wonder how much she made on this updated dresser.
I love the old gaudy furniture like this. So much. The redo is great, but they are perfect just the way they are in my taste
Looks so much fresher and lighter for such a big piece.
Stanley furniture is excellent quality and you updated it so beautifully!!! Timeless piece for many years to come!! Elegant!
You are such a talented girl and hardworking!
Thank you very much!
Our very first furniture purchase was a dresser nearly identical to this one. We were married in 1973. Finally donated it to Habitat for Humanity just a couple years ago.
We had this almost exact dresser. Took the front plastic things off of it. Sanded it and painted it and new hardware. Solid wood otherwise. It looks great now !
I have almost the same except it’s a full dining room set from 1973! Expensive back then and it’s nice that people are now refinishing them.
Agree, very nice IF they can afford to do it and if family members aren't overly sensitive to harsh chemical fumes, wood chips, paint odors [HYPER- SENSITIVITY].
It's probably still sitting there at Habitat, lol. My friend couldn't give away her parents' old high-end furniture.
I purchased the set similar to this one I remember it was $3,000. Then! I Remembered because that was my first new bedroom set. Lol.
Amazing!! I like that the legs got the piece up off the floor. I think the legs look a little lightweight for a piece that big and heavy. Love the color and the hardware. But the top is SO FANTASTIC! Congrats on a great new technique.
This takes me back to the 80’s we used to use the wood graining tools on everything!
This was cool...everything old is new again. Faux graining was so popular in the late Victorian era, so it was fun to see you doing it on a modern piece. I'm sure it sold well:)
Thank you so much! I appreciate you tuning in! Hope to see you next time!
I would like it better with the wide base taken off then add the sleek gold legs. I've seen a lot of flippers do this and it looks amazing. I did it recently, too. Beautiful job.
Good comment. The trim at the bottom of the dresser is not designed to be weight bearing. It is likely that the trim will come loose and separate from the case if this piece is actually put to use as a dresser.
I agree!
I thought the same, but she responded to another comment and said she would have had to rebuild the entire base, as the legs wouldn’t be able to support the dresser-and at that point the profit margin would knew too low. I’d love to see what it would look like without as well though, but she makes perfect sense!
I agree!!!
You likely just need to put a support in the middle. I would definitely remove that trim. It's not designed to support the weight either
Absolutely beautiful. I have a bedroom set similar to this style and have been thinking about painting it. You have shown me it is so worth it!!!!!
Thank you for sharing 🙏🥰
Fabulous job, love how you finished the top, in fact the entire piece.
I will never get enough of you saying, "you are enough!" Thank you!!!
These dressers are all over estate sales, thank you for showing us how to make them pretty 😊
You are so welcome!
I’ve been seeing them in FBMP too!!!
Great result Kara - you’re so right about needing to “trust the process”! In the end that top turned out looking fabulous.
Thanks so much! 😊
Awesome decorations! That cauldron is everything 🔮
Amazing! I would have been afraid to change this Stanley Furniture piece, but I am so knocked out by what you did! Well done.
Great job, love the wood grain effect. The spray finish on the front really enhances the beautiful details & the feet & handles are the final flourish.
Job really well done.❤
I like that you painted the interior of the dresser. Makes it look totally finished.
I love this. We just bought a house with this type of furniture in every room. Can’t wait to start on it.
Gorgeous restoration❤
Great job. Loved the final results. Ive done faux painting for over 40yrs. Not only done furniture but faux wood designs on metal doors & walls. It is easy but the results look like it was hard to do & looks just like wood.
Absolutely love this flip as I do all of your work flipping!! Just gorgeous!! ❤
Thank you so much! Appreciate you!
Looks beautiful!
Really wonderful Steph - something to look forward too! Thanks so much for your videos
I redid a nightstand very similarly. I painted it a light beige changed the drawer pulls from the old Spanish style with a backplate to a simple brushed nickel knob. What a transformation! It looks modern and sleek.
Love what you did with chest! Amazing transformation!❤
8:32
FYI- The piece is a _dresser,_ not a chest❣
A dresser is short and long, with multiple columns of drawers, whereas a _chest_ (chest of drawers, precisely) is tall with just _one_ column of drawers. I just learned the difference
I absolutely love how it came out. I think I want to try it on my old dresser. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us.
@MariaHernandez-lb8gk Thank you! I appreciate you watching! Hope to see you next time!
Looks amazing!
Beautiful!! Great job🎉
Beautifully transformed dresser! Awesome color, gorgeous faux wood top, nice handles. The legs made a huge difference in the appearance of the piece. Thanks so much for sharing
Thank you! Cheers! Appreciate you watching
I love the look! I think I would have taken the ornate trim on the door off & maybe the flared skirting. I am encouraged to try the faux wood technique thanks to you. Great job.
I love this transformation.
This dresser is beautiful.
Bam! Good job … I really like the way you raised it up and the new hardware and the wood faux grain is awesome!!! And I think all the original trim really adds to its beauty!
Thank you so much! I appreciate you tuning in! Hope to see you next time!
Such a great result, Kara! Guess I'll add this idea for one of my old pieces and try it out!
I seriously love this look! Really was quick to do too!
Same here!
FABULOUS!!
Love the final product!
It looks so much better but I think you really could have taken it up another level had you taken the skirting off of the dresser before adding those legs
I agree!
..but time is money folks! 😅
Your comment deserved recognition from the host and here's why. The skirt and the entire chunky dresser overthrows the image of the legs. And, it would look more modern without the skirt. We did that to ours rather than donating it.
Thanks for watching. Skirt could not come off with out rebuilding the entire bottom to support the legs. At that point, profit is too low.
I love it! you really transformed it and i get the skirt thing. They do not come off easily at all..maybe on a cheap piece of furniture… but I think it looks amazing! Great job. I have the same wood grain tool that you used. I painted a round glass top and now it looks like a wood top.. believe it or not. I just found your channel and I can’t wait to watch some of your previous videos. 👏👏👏👏
It turned out beautiful! I love the colors! I actually used the tool on my front entry door to give it a wood look back several years ago. I used stains on the door along with the tool! Great job!
Great idea!! thanks so much for watching!
Incredible makeover!
Love it!!
Wow! Unexpectedly gorgeous dresser .. could be used in living room as well. I really love country chic paint products. You really have a knack at what you do 🙂
Thank you so much! Yes! I listed it as a dresser/ media cabinet bc I could def see it as a tv room fixture
Amazing! Almost wouldn't believe it except you did this right before our eyes! I am so glad you have nerves of steel that allows you to 'go for it' and show us the way! Thanks for demonstrating this product, the tools you used, letting us know that it is do-able for even a beginner.
Thank you! This piece is lovely, top to bottom & everything in-between.
😊🎉
Thank you! Really appreciate that! That’s how I learned! Lol just going for it!
It’s beautiful !!!! Had this dresser also back in early 70’s 😂
Thanks for the update !
❤ his "bear" shirt from "Life is Good" 😉
I just clicked on your video when it popped up, and I'm so impressed with your creativity and how well the dresser turned out. Just beautiful! I'm too old to be refinishing furniture now, but I love watching the process. Well done! 😊
Thank you so much!
Love how it turned out. Glad to hear the trend is going to be elegant and sleek. That’s what my style of painting is. LOL.
Great job. Love it.
Beautiful flip!!
Love your new do😊
You did a great job with the graining tools. I have used them before. You made it look much easier than it was for me the first time 😅
I use Rustoleum's "Smoked" Glaze or the "Aged" Glaze (its gold) on top of any chalk or
latex base color. I have also used them together blended. It has to sit for about 30 minutes and start getting tacky then you can work it and re work it for about 30 more minutes. No top coat required.
Looks great both ways!!
This sells great for me in my market. Look forward to all your content!!
Yes! I have seen the glaze trick with the tools. I’m going to try a stain next time. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful transformation! I’ve seen Katie Scott use similar tools, also, and am really intrigued to try. You did a great job!
Awesome! Thank you!
Same here!!
Pop the Bubbly is one of my all time favourite colours. It goes with EVERYTHING!!!
right?? I heard they discontinued it. I hope not! Safe travels my buddy ; )
I was doing this fake wood grain back in the 1990s it is very useful in rescuing good furniture that has seen better days.
Your dressed looks beautiful.
Loving your hair and the makeover was fantastic as always. I used retique it to refinish a particle board headboard of mine several months ago and love it. It was just as easy as any faux wood finish and looks way more realistic.
Sounds great! I bet that turned out amazing!
I love everyone’s patience with sanding furniture! I have this exact dresser and when I think of sanding it, it gives me anxiety! I just don’t have the patience for it 🙁 very beautiful piece and great job with it!!!!
I know what you mean. She made it sound and look easy but I know from experience that it takes a lot of both time and work. I've done quite a few total refinishes and lately it's all I can do to simply paint the pieces and change the handles lol.
All I did was scuff sand this one. Took me maybe 10-12 min to do a thorough job. Not that bad!
Love what you did with the piece. I would use brass legs only because I'm not a fan of gold.
Perfect. Thank you. ☺️
That turned out great 😊
Thank you! 😊
Love it! What a transformation! One suggestion might be that when you use the wood grain tool, to make nice long strokes with no knots, like higher quality wooden furniture (like mid century walnut) opposed to knotty pine (like Ikea). I seriously love this transformation though. Beautiful and keeping SO much furniture out of the dump this way! 🙌🙌
Love it ❤
Absolutely georgeous
Great job LL. That dresser might be partially plastic, but it still is well made. Bravo for saving it. I keep those plastic jars from protein drink powder and they make excellent wide mouth jars for saving paint, since the humidity and salt air is so bad here. I had been hoping that you would try those graining tools, they are really amazing. If the grain looks too coarse, then I will drag a dry big house painting brush through it very lightly. That top coat went on so easily and no drips. Great call to add the legs, but I would have backed them in about an inch, minor detail. 😍
Yes! I have the large deck brush slated for another look coming up! Thanks for watching. Have a great week ahead!
I’m inspired for sure. That looks awesome!
Really like how the top faux wood grain turned out!
Amazing transformation!! I love your choice of cabinet colors and hardware finish and the faux wood grain. the only thing I'd do differently is the pull that's installed vertically in the middle cabinet. Looks out of place and 🎉clashes. I would opt for 2 knobs instead or even no hardware at all in the middle cabinet as it has it's own design and doesn't need a modern hardware on top.
So interesting to see that you used that primer.. I would have tossed it since it looked like the can had rusted and degraded into the paint. But by mixing and filtering, it looks like it worked just fine! So glad I watched this! 😊
Thanks for watching! I LOVE that mixer!
Me too.
Beautiful. I like the top base. How elegant and creative u finished the tone with the wood. 😍
That is wonderful. Wow the transformation is out of this world.
I loved this budget-friendly furniture trends video! The ideas were not only stylish but also easy on the wallet. The tips on embracing 2024 trends without breaking the bank were practical and gave me inspiration for updating my space affordably.
❤❤❤will do for sure!
You have inspired me to redo a dark stained dog crate! Love it! Thank you for sharing!
Love it. I really like the wood look on top. The colors are so welcoming. Awesome job as always. Thanks for sharing
Thanks so much!
It looks great, good job!
Will for sure try the product you used for the top. Thanks for sharing ❤
Amazing transformation absolutely gorgeous
I’ve seen this technique before…it really looks so good! Going to see about ordering this handy dandy tool! Doesn’t even look like the same dresser! Thanks for sharing Kara! 🥰🥰
Thank you so very much for watching!
I love it!!!
I love the top!!!!!
Beautiful and so classic! 💖💖💖
Thank you! 😊
You did a beautiful job
Wow 🙌🏾The finished look 🥰
Adding the legs really balanced this piece; it looked sooo heavy before. You did a fantastic job!!!
Thank you @piggylover4808! This makes me smile! So happy to hear! Hope to see you next time!
Absolutely beautiful! Great job!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Gorgeous

It is so beautiful
Astounding transformation. Love it
👏🏾 well done, it’s beautiful!
Gorgeous!!!
Love seeing this piece transformed! Great inspo for my current project :)
This is a stunner!
So looking forward to seeing your channel grow !
Absolutely amazing!!
I love being able to take a solid, well made piece and update it for today's aesthetic. Had this been a solid wood top you wouldn't faux paint, but it isn't, so absolutely go for it. And even as a laminate the dresser is a much better made piece of furniture than you can buy today for the money. It looks grand!
Looks good ❤❤❤
It looks f***ing awesome!!!
