Always loved this. When Mike Batt asked what they wanted included in the production, they drew a kitchen sink, which earned them the opera aira and the shotgun blasts at the end. Fantastic song. I also recall tour poster describing themselves as "A tour de force, forced to tour". They clearly didn't take themselves too seriously, even if they made great music.

    My analysis of this song...
She thinks that although she's been caught out as a two timer, she can carry on doing it, just as long as she can believe her partner isn't aware of her knowing her deception has been uncovered. Unfortunately for her though he is, so their future is in his hands.
As long as the man in this instance chooses not to let her know that he's aware she knows she's been caught out, it's possible for him to allow their situation to continue, if he so chooses. To let her know of his awareness, would be such as to render her guilty of both deception and indifference were the situation to continue, which would probably be more than the relationship could sustain. The decision is therefore his to take.
She probably would try to make herself believe that he would think she isn't clever enough to have realised that he would know she's two timing, and therefore make herself believe it's safe to continue the affair. Were she to realise that he was aware that she knew she'd been caught out, then she could not continue two timing unless she was wholly indifferent to their relationship.
One more thing. Even though she knows she's been caught out two timing, she probably believes she can carry on making him think that she thinks she's truly getting away with it. Except she can't, as unbeknownst to her, he's already found out that she knows he knows..

    • @darrenmawbey1046
      @darrenmawbey1046 7 років тому +1

Perhaps one other way of getting it is to understand that she's not cheating even after knowing that she's been caught out knowing that she's been caught cheating. Instead, she's just cheating after knowing she's been caught cheating.

    • @misterteaification
      @misterteaification 3 роки тому

"just as long as she can believe her partner isn't aware of her knowing her deception has been uncovered"
The only thing he needs to know is the cheating, not her awareness that she's been rumbled.

The lyrics of this song are beyond belief.
But lets give them some credit for penning the following 2 lines,
"Her escape was so urgent, she forgot her detergent
And dropped all her clean underwear". A masterpiece of song writing.
Little does she know that I know that she knows
    That I know she's two-timin' me
Little does she know that I know that she knows
That I know she's cheatin' on me
I was outside the one stop
When I saw her in the corner
    And I didn't like what I see
Little does she know that I know that she knows
    That I know she's two-timin' me
She was sharing her spin dryer with a guy in a tie-dye
When she saw my reflection in the chrome
I knew that she'd seen me 'cause she dropped her bikini
The one that I got her, in Rome
Little does she know that I know that she knows
    That I know she's two-timin' me
Little does she know that I know that she knows
That I know she's cheatin' on me
When she finished her laundry she was all in a quandary
And made it for the street like a hare
Her escape was so urgent, she forgot her detergent
And dropped all her clean underwear
Little does she know that I know that she knows
That I know she's cheatin' on me

Produced and orchestrated by Mike Batt who gave it the whole 9 yards.
I remember the follow up Radio romance which was a great song but didn’t chart.
Southend gave us lots of great bands in the 70’s.

As a South Essex bloke I loved the music scene there in the mid-1970's. Funnily enough I was at school with the bass guitarist of this band, Richie Bull - the big bearded guy wearing the straw hat. He was actually a brilliant banjo player too.
