I see the word "underrated" everywhere, mostly applied to very successful artists of stage, screen and studio. Underrated applies to actors, for example, whose face you know because they're constantly working, but you don't know their name. Similarly, if a band/musical artist writes great songs that aren't reflected by sales...underrated. 10CC had a great deal of success. Their _legacy_ is such that they aren't first to mind when people talk about popular music of the 1970's, but there's no way to ensure one's impact on the culture.

Oh wow. My favourite song at 14, sitting in front of the radio with my cassette recorder. I loved 10 cc because they were so different. Couldn't understand all the smart texts but i listened to that music and it was clear to me that this was absolutely fantastic. I still love them. There will never be a band like this again....
They described themselves as sounding like 400 maniacs from Hollywood, when they were 4 “scruffy gits” from Manchester,in the words of Kevin Godley.
Fantastic group-a great coming together of talent
Did the sane, also 14 !
Only in Germany from AFN Radio Frankfurt.
I'm also german, by the way

Saw 10cc live. Amazing. 🎸🎼🎶🎇🎇🎇🎇
That's good. I'll be seeing them in Austin in August.
every time i see the riots on tv this song starts playing in my head. a perfect song for the situation i recon lol
How I loved that song at an age of 13...It was my absolute favourite on the radio. Now I can really appreciate what geniusses they were. Musicians who knew what they were doing. So original, so different from others. Sometimes it sounds a bit like prog, sometimes it's just a great rock'nroll groove. But never, never boring. That's what I like about 10cc
Love this band, so talented, they were all songwriters, singers and musicians. I saw them live a few years back in Kings Lynn, just two of the originals were there but they were fantastic. This song was nunber one on June 23rd 1973 when I was on holiday at Leysdown on the Isle of sheppey, it was playing on the jukebox in an amusement arcade there. The song takes me back to wonderful times. It reminds me of a beautiful girl I met there, Sandra Cooper, we got engaged and was together for 4 years, the best time in my life, sadly we split up.
My goodness....I remember the song well. June 23rd 1973 was the day my second son was born. A good day. Funny thing was our surname was Baker as in the song.
@@georgiaraynes1421 I remember that day like it was yesterday, it was glorious sunshine.
Showing my age now, I remember when this came out I had just started junior school ha ha, Brilliant👍👍👍
Showing your age I'd left by 1973 lol 😂👍, great song and band .

I only heard this song for the first time a few days ago. I am obsessed with it , 🎉such a cool song. And yes i was a teen in the 70s. I only ever heard what was on the radio. Couldn't afford to buy alums. I am very familiar withI'm not in love and the things we do for love
They didn't seem to follow any rules just trusted their talent and came up with special songs like this.
Where's the time gone seems like only yesterday. Supreme track from a supreme group. Cheers guys.
Listening to this masterpiece in the first days of june 2020 feels weired

Awesome song, I loved it way back when, still love it.
1973. I was 6 years old, and this was the first song that ever excited me. I will never forget how catchy this song was and still is. I will love it and many other 10cc songs forever.
They were so funny yet real good at the same time
STILL LISTENING TO THIS MASTERPIECE 49 YEARS LATER. THEIR MUSIC, A BLEND OF POP, ROCK AND REGGAE 🤩
First 7” i ever bought from woolies 🤣 was 8yo
Never seen anyone hit cymbals that did not move!..Nice Gretsch set..Btw….Saw 10 cc in detroit as openers for 10 Years After….1975?
Fantastic. Love the song since the 70s. Still rocks. 💯💯💯💯
Those microphones are so good they pick even when the singer is a foot and 1/2 away or facing the complete opposite direction. Still good to see the boys punching out this number
Saw these boys live in the Isle of Man in 73 still the best live performance I ve seen
so lucky
Love 10cc xx
I was alive when this song was released 🙌🏻❤️💜❤️
Wonderful song from wonderful band.
A very good point. And 10CC added little to the evolution of pop. They did parodies.
Fantastic song from an incredibly talented band, sadly overlooked in America at the time ("Rubber Bullets" peaked at #73 in the U.S. Billboard chart.) I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Creme during his latter film directing career. A delightful man!
I remember dancing to this in the disco in the 70s. 🇬🇧
Have'nt heard from them for AGES , I wonder what they are doing now , does anyone know ?
@@shaneluke346Hi Shane, Still going n doing the Town hall 's these days. This track is Fab also that year did u like Wizzard' See my baby jive. Fab time to grow up then and luvly memories of my parents sir..Kind regards Glynn n Greetings from Stourbridge West Midlands UK 🤝

Just incredible; four very talented AND very good looking guys in one band :)
Good looking guys? Should have gone to Specsavers.
@@roys3580 And I am sure you are just gorgeous.
Oh great song
It's funny how Kevin Godley can play the drums without actually touching either drums or symbals with his sticks, that's very impressive. Great song thou', I was always a 10cc fan.
*ITS BECAUSE THEY'RE PLAYING ON "TOP OF THE FLOPS" BEST THING THAT COULDVE HAPPENED THE "MIMING MOB" BEING "UNAIRED" :-) :-D. :-b*
Great song
Masterpiece of the 70s, bring back the good times xxxx
You said it sheila, I think this world is run by lunatics with us as pawns to play out there warped experiments, If you find a time machine give me a call so i can come with you 😊😊
This takes me back it still sounds brilliant
Still one of my favourite bands
Best British band of the seventies, that many people have missed out on....go listen to their tracks....you won't regret it. 🎸❤️😎🎶
Very talented band and one of the few to play live on TOTP.
And one ex band member lives on the Northern Rivers at Byron Bay, NSW, Australia - and played and sang this song last night at the Brunswick Hotel - current band: The Feramones.
The drummer has a magnificent voice plus can play the cymbals and drums by mental telepathy!
Guitars not plugged in either!
@@hirdy6 this band is extrarerrestrial!
@@johnrogan9420 Nah, I knew one of their groupies and she told me they each had only two testicles.
hirdy6 bands on top of the pops weren’t allowed to play live at this time...all artists mimed!
