Just a heads up -- Ted from Aputure mentioned that the cracking mount was a defect in the preproduction models and that the production version has a replaced piece at the base so it won't break like this.

To accent my 300d mkii (w/ Lightdome 2) I plan on purchasing two 200d with two Aputure spotlight mounts. I've always wanted to have more control with my accent/fill lights but the cost of two 120d's wasn't worth the cost. These new Amaran lights changes everything, I don't even have to worry about the plastic lock snapping off because it just floats on the back of the two spotlight mounts! And all this for a little over the cost of 1. ore 300d mkii, absolutely incredible how far and affordable Aputure has brought us.

Shape and intensity of light depends on dishes included in the box. 200d dish is designed that way but there are differences when other modifiers are applied

So, thoughts on getting the 200d as a key light and some RGB panel for color? Recommendations on affordable RGB lights?
For someone that doesn't know anything about lights (yet) For my first lighting equipment would the X Amaran or D Amaran be better? I'll be doing product videos, some interviews and indoor b roll.
Others are complaining about the fan noise of 200D have you noticed anything? is it replicable with a more quieter fan?
I've heard about the fan, but I have the 200d and the fan is very quiet on mine

Wow, this is a great video. I am wondering what the best light for beginner filmmakers is. Would that be this light or is there something better? I am just not sure myself so I thought I might ask somebody who knows what they are doing. I do like the look of this light. Very good video.
I wish they had a v mount option, I heard Aputure is bringing out some kind of portable battery solution but the v mount option on the 300d works great just wish it had trickled down to these ones.
Let me go ahead and get one of those lights? I currently use a set that requires 4 light bulbs. Super upgraaaade!
If you swap the reflector from the 300D II to the 200D is the falloff better in your opinion? I saw on another channel that the center hot spot was mainly due to the new reflector and not the light itself.
I really really love the fact that you showed the light fall off on the edges of the beam. But at what degree from the center was the measurement taken?
Its due to the new bowens reflector. If you replace it with the old styled one that is even inside you get an even fall off

I just realized - my 200D has a different light stand mount than the one yours has - mine has lines going out from it presumably to reinforce it
I think this is GREAT for Aputure and all aspiring creators on their way, but I know that the Godox SL150 II is the same price and brighter. I shoot music videos so I would actually prefer the effects but I’m so used to not having them now.
How does the 100d compare against the OG HR672w?
I'm currently using 4 of them to light my set and they just aren't bright enough for my liking.

That beauty dish focuses the light to the center. If you used the beauty dish from the 300Dii you would notice a difference in evenness of the light.

I'm trying to decide between purchasing 1 aputure 300x and 1 amaran 100d or 3 amaran 200x. Which one is the best choice? I'm doing mostly interviews.
Hmmm… good question. The 200x will give you more options with color temp… but the other option gives you more power. Tough choice honestly
It's a really, really, REALLY good time to get into cinematography. Things like this light and Sirui's amazing budget anamorphic lenses represent true technical disruption, which is good for all of us.

I've heard that the 200d make a lot of noise which can be annoying when shooting. Have you guys experienced this as well?
It is not noticeably louder than the 300d ii. For us it’s not going to be an issue for audio.
What about the 200d fan noise? Is it loud on your unit like DSLR Video Shooter’s review?
Good question! The sound noise we negligible and not worth including in the video for that reason. I’m confident it won’t be an issue. However, the noise is a little louder than our 300dii. Not enough to be an issue though.

One thing that dslrvideoshooter brought up was the fact that the hyper reflector was causing that bad hot spot. Did you encounter any fan noise issues with the 200d like weird tone or just loud? These things look absolutely baller and I’m sure a lot of streamers are going to get their hands on them.
The fan seemed quiet to us. Not as quiet as the 300dii but still quit enough for me.

No it the noise was comparable to the 300dii and other Aputure lights. Not an issue for us
