TIP - Follow Epic Light Media and Gerald Undone and never need a day of film school in your life!! Big fan bro, cheers for the invaluable information as usual.
This is what I came here for - no excessive discussion of what the specs of all the latest cameras are or how to spin the dials on your dslr - but what to actually do with light and composition when you're out there shooting.
Right!?!? She packed her bags this morning and moved to LA. She said she was “looking for something new” we’re still trying to figure out what she meant.
@@EpicLightMedia I'm so sorry. . .She was such an asset to your team, she will be missed. I think she will be back as soon as Potato Jet starts throwing stands around. . .
I used to subscribe to potato jet. I thought he fulfilled my learning needs. But i was empty. Now that ive found ELM, i feel like there is a bright new direction for me to wander. I certainly wont be subscribing anytime soon. They have enough
This is my absolute favorite channel right now. Every video is exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks!! I just subscribed (even though I'm not supposed to).
Great video, but my one nitpick with b-roll lighting like this in general is that the rim/highlight lights are too bright. The scene looks lit, as opposed to looking like a natural bright light in the scene. Other than that this was a great video for teaching the fundamentals of interesting b-roll.
These are some of the most helpful videos I have ever watched and this shit makes me bust out laughing. You're way cooler than Peter Mckinnon and I love you.
I really enjoy watching your videos, so helpful. Hope one day I can put in practice everything I watch. (I don't have camera and lights 😅😅😅) saludos from Mexico.
I appreciate how you manage to "teach without people noticing they're learning" by making things so much fun to watch. Do you have any pointers for those who are doing this alone? I rarely have the extra hand to wield a reflector, diffuser, light-saber.
I have to second this. The delivery is great. Not only that, the content is actual practical advice, rather than generic "lol just use a reflector or rimlight lol."
I live in Moscow and this is literally best way 2 understand our work!! God, i wish my parents explained me everything in this way 15 yars ago...#DONOTREADWITHRUSSIANACCENT
Great video as always, but I've got a question. You often suggest making adjustments that completely change the content of the background. Is that what you usually resort to doing even if it doesn't necessarily fit the goal of the story? Like what if you wanted that sunset in the background? Do you have no choice but to go the expensive route and add more light modifiers to the outdoor shot?
Yes unless you have a big budget with lots of lights or you film at the perfect time of day and plan ahead of time you have to make on the fly adjustments to backgrounds
@@EpicLightMedia Okay, thanks. And please don't reply to my comments, I get enough replies already. Please reply to someone else that's more deserving of replies.
Any fellow video buffs here editing 4K footage from NVMe drives ? I just want to know if there will be a real difference between this and a normal SSD drive when it comes to 4K footage editing. The OS drive is a separate normal SSD on my system and i have other separate HDDs for renders/ backup etc. Im going to buy a NVMe so im wondering should it go in as my OS System Drive or would it serve better as a 4K footage edit drive.
very interesting video. How control lighting on gimbal when subject move forward? Do you have external operator that use reflector on the moving subject?
That B-roll sequence had me laughing pretty hard! Random question, is that a 24-105 f4 you're using on the Ursa, or something else? I'm curious what lens you like to use because that tells me what you find to conveniently get the shots you want.
This is the only channel that does what the channel name actually says
I know, right! :)
Yeah, I was so disappointed that I didn't find any potato powered jet something
Ever heard of epic meal time? Lol

I suggest DSLR Video Shooter as well. Especially for his hacks and DIY gear.
also Filmmaker IQ. if this channel is for undergrads, Filmmaker IQ is for a masters
You have a very specific sense of humor (humour, here in Canada) that aligns so much with me. It's fabulous.

You rock, Epic Light Media! This channel is currently the best in UA-cam, showing us how to make better films, in practice!
I wanna know the drama between this guy and potato jet.
What drama? Im intrigued, i want to know more
drama? they keep cheekily plugging potato jet, I'm sure they're friends
I bet they used to date
🔥 Epic Light
How are these the most helpful videos on UA-cam right now? On one hand you don’t take yourself seriously. On the other hand... ugh, I learn so much!
I love that you show us exactly each step of the process rather than only talk about it. Such hard work isn’t common and is appreciated!
I love the channel, the most useful channel on youtube for lighting
I can't stop watching your videos man
Awesome that Lynn is "two timing" you with Potato Jet!

that's the impression i get too, the edge light is too strong

Excellent 👍 One point from my experience is, the subject should feel convenient, in the B-roll as well.
Lol this was great!!
На таком стадионе, можно конечно снимать. :) Ты на пяти кв.м. попробуй снять.

This channel needs to hear more from Lynne.
Or maybe I should say this channel needs to listen to Lynne more. ;-)
I'm very interesting about lighting in this channel. So, do you know what the cheapest professional lighting for limited budget?
Honestly look at Aputure. You won’t regret purchases from them because their products are affordable but they last and are well made
Awsome like always 😊🔥🔥🔥
Awesome video!
Sososososo helpful
