The bass man Tim Faust is a 5 octave singer. Your reaction and subsequent review were spot on!! Thank you for choosing to hear this.
As we say here in Texas; Y'all be safe. ( Y'all covers one person or a crowd. 🙃 )

Welcome to our community of 'Home Fries!' I really enjoyed your subtle reactions, which was uniquely appropriate. You are in for a treat. Just keep an open mind to enjoy all of their offerings. I feel that great musicians aren't better than another.... they are all uniquely different. All that's required is their willingness to share their talents honestly and to the fullest.

This is actually a very old song it was first recorded about 100 years ago. There have been many covers of this song, but Home Free manages to put their own spins on covers. Great and informative reaction.

This song is so old that it came before country and bluegrass. Circulating around 1900 and put to paper in 1913.
Adam Chance, who is singing baritone and doing the jaw harp, usually goes by Chance. Or at least we do to avoid confusion.
Chris Rupp was the baritone up to about March 2016. You'll see him in the cowboy hat in Ring Of Fire. He looks a bit like his brother, Adam Rupp. Adam Rupp has a pretty high tenor voice. It helps with the harmonica range.

I really like that you listened to the whole song all the way through first before making any comments. That's pretty unusual and in my opinion the correct way to do analysis. And this is one song I'll just never get tired of listening to. Like you said, the combination of them together is really just mind-blowing.

You have just been introduced to the best a cappella group out there. These guys are all so talented. They lean towards country but they can do any genre. They all can take the lead depending on whos voice is best for the song. They are known for their tight harmonies. Tim Foust is one of the best bass singers out there & their beatboxer vocal percussionist Adam Rupp can simulate any sound. This song is very old & is done in the bluegrass country style. It was used in the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" starring George Clooney.

    • @JoeJBuddha
      @JoeJBuddha Рік тому

Adam Rupp is on the short list of best beatboxers in the world. Which is wild, since, when he and his brother started the group, they tossed a coin to see who would do it.

    Austin Brown Tenor 1
    Rob Lundquist Tenor 2
    Adam Chance Baritone
    Tim Foust Bass
    Adam Rupp Beatboxer
Chris Rupp is Adam's brother and cofounder of the group, he left for a solo career and was replaced by Adam Chance. We just call him Chance.

Enjoy all you see and hear.. Stay safe! I look forward to seeing you and your reactions! Your favorite bass singer is Tim Foust.. he has a huge vocal range so there are times when he sings super high, too! Austin Brown (first singer.. high tenor) Rob Lundquist is the high tenor (the second singer with the bushy beard and glasses) Adam Chance is the newest member He sings baritone and occasionally bass.. .on this song he does the jaw harp.. to avoid confusion with two Adams, he is called Chance... Adam Rupp is the beatboxer... amazingly talented. They are so diverse.. my favorite song of theirs is Mayday.. or How Great Thou Art.. .. just pick anything! You wont be disappointed. Thanks for all you do!

As I'm sure others have said the song is actually a cover of a really old song. And it is was made famous through a film called "Brother Where Art Thou" so they dressed and did the video to match with that.

Your comments were , definitely, on point. Thank you for recognizing the instruments replicated. The beat-boxer is Adam Rupp. Chris Rupp is no longer singing with the band. He was replaced by Adam Chance (Jew harp - overtone sound).
Your picking up on Home Free being a single entity was perfect. As you experience them, it becomes more apparent. Depending on the song, the appropriate member will assume the lead performer, with the others adding complete support. No one “star” in this group, just unified perfection. Each a star in their own way.

Thanks for the great reaction and analysis. Home Free, along with Voiceplay and Pentatonix, make up the three best a capella groups out there today. I would love to see you react to more from Home Free, as well as the other two that I mentioned. For Pentatonix, I would suggest trying their cover of Hallelujah. For Voiceplay, I recommend either their cover of We Don't Talk About Bruno (from the movie Encanto) or their cover of Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill. This song that Home Free performed is also a cover, by the way. It is best known from the movie O Brother Where Art Thou, but it predates that by many years.

I highly recommend an incredibly talented singer from Norway - Angelina Jordan. (IMHO she is the best female singer that I've listened to in my lifetime - & I'm 73 :). She's been performing since a very early age & she won Norways Got Talent at age 8. In order to really appreciate her raw talent, I highly recommend her black & white cover of Put A Spell On You (which she also arranged) - at age 9. Thank you. Looking forward to more of your reactions.

To get a feel for each of their individual voices, listen to their Sea Shanty Medley. It also shows their fun side. If you're feeling brave, try The Butts Remix for their absolute silly side. Side note; Adam Chance goes by Chance, so he's not confused with Adam Rupp the beatboxer.

Hi Dounia, welcome to the Home Free "rabbit hole." This group is incredible -- super talented and they're so humble and just really good guys.
Austin Brown - tenor with the reddish hair/beard who was singing lead on this. He has a background in music theater.
Adam Chance - (usually just called "Chance" to avoid confusion with the other Adam in the group) baritone, short dark beard and roundish face.
Tim Foust - bass with the long sandy hair (he's since cut it shorter). He has an incredible range, he can also be a tenor when he wants!
Rob Lundquist - Tenor with a lighter, sweeter voice. He's the big guy with the longer beard and glasses. He can sing anything.
Adam Rupp - although he too can sing and has a great voice, he beatboxes and does sound effects and can basically sound like whatever he wants, super talented. Basically anything that sounds like instruments is him.

You mentioned that you thought they could make even bad songs sound good. Yes. I find the songs Do You Hear What I Hear and Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer to be 2 of the more annoying and boring Christmas songs, but their covers of these songs are very fun and impressive. Especially Do You Hear will show you things that are astounding - wear headphones! And for all that, one of the best things about them is that even though they will do amazing things vocally, it never really comes off as a stunt, but as serving to make the music more complete: except in a few instances, where they make a joke out of 'doing stunts', as in the live versions of Your Man, where they do a whole comedy routine out of Tim's incredible range.
The many members you saw listed is over the years. For ten years they have been mostly stable. The group had been founded 20ish years ago with a core of brothers Chris and Adam Rupp (at least those are who stuck it out the longest). About ten years ago, they were on a cruise and needed a high tenor and met Austin Brown (the first lead in this) on the cruise and he joined. That was stable until 2016 when Chris Rupp decided to go solo and pursue other endeavors, and he helped recruit Adam Chance as a replacement baritone. He is called Chance because there was already an Adam; he had been singing bass with Streetcorner Symphony, and will often cover bass when Tim is singing lead. Like Tim, Chance has an astounding range, so they can all trade off freely. Since 2016, it has been the five guys you saw here.

I happened to get the chance to see them live. They sounded as good live as if they were coming out of a studio!

The sounds they create is awesome! They have several hits like this. You're almost ready to react to Angelina Jordan "I Put A Spell on you" her performing, Queens "Bohemian Rhapsody" but not yet! A next level event. Good job on this reaction. Women seem to love these guy's? 😉

I love it when people react to these great performances but honestly, I was so caught up with your beauty and voice I couldn't concentrate on them. I've heard them plenty though so here's to you lady. ❤

Hi Dounia, welcome to the family of Home Fries. You’ll have a great time going into this group’s catalog.
I also recommend another group called Pentatonix, between the two groups, you’ll never have to listen any one else.

Adam Rupp is the beatboxer/percussionist extraordinaire. He was playing his infamous "nomonica". He's not the only one who can do that. Adam Chance is the baritone/sometimes bass. He was making the jaw harp sound and goes by "Chance". Btw, fans of Home Free are called home fries -----> 🍟

The song Man of constant sarrow is of the Bluegrass genre which is a sub-genre of Country. Bluegrass music is a genre of American roots music that developed in the 1940s in the United States Appalachian region.

Welcome aboard the Home Free train. While they excel at Country music renditions, they do occasionally stray off the Country reservation, with spectacular results. A good sampling of these includes Auld Lang Syne, Heplessly Hoping, and When a Man Loves a Woman.

This was the first of their songs I heard, a few years back, and have been a fan since. My other favorite a cappella group is Pentatonix. My first exposure of them was their cover of “Hallelujah”.
AND this review of yours is my first time of you. I subscribed. Looking forward to seeing more of your review videos.
