Love that you finally covered this!! I own this model and gosh it is beautiful.
To me it looks amazing without looking like a homage like of a famous brand.
The lume color really helps add color to the watch
I don't know what it is with these Seikos, but I am drawn to them like a moth to a flame. Thanks for showing it real CLOSE.
I have the blue speedtimer, and I love it. I have quite a few solar watches (both citizen and seiko) and they both keep excellent time and keep a charge forever!!! I absolutely love this color combo, and if I didn’t already have another version of this watch, I’d’ve already bought it. That green lume just looks so cool!
I’ve just found this watch whilst looking up smaller Seiko chronographs and I really like it, not my normal style as I’m a dive watch fan but there is something I really do like about it, went straight to UA-cam and found your video so I’ll watch now (I’ve watched loads of your vids) cheers.
Great video, with the most info ever on Seiko chronographs operations
Really cool. Wish they could update the standard versions of this watch to have this new lume application (on all indices instead of just 12' , 3', 6', and 9')
Hope to see Synchro Timer reissue this year. 40 years anniversary!!!
Usually not a fan of black watches but something about the thumbnail just pulled me in. Doubly so cause it doesn't look like a Daytona panda. Nice find!
Kinda looks like a Speedmaster, quite nice.
Waiting for the review of the new Seiko sumo gmt diver (blue/ quartz)
Great vid, wish there was a bit more about the 24hr dial, I’m not sure what that is, maybe an actual 24hr dial but how do you read it 🤷🏻♂️
So, if bought this beauty today and I was quite surprised. In the store, I compared this one to 2 other 2023 models. This black one is the only one which has 2022 housing, just in black but with the 2023 update lumibright indices.
Since I have a smaller wrist, I found it just perfect but I think no review did mention the different housings of the very same model year.
Edit... Why didn't they swap the low and the right small dial. Would have made sense. Day and night indicator is unnecessary anyway imho. Instead they could display a much bigger date indicator for me bad old eyes lol
Does anyone know if i can buy just the bracelet? It would fit my SPB253 perfectly.
Good looking watch. It'd look good on a NATO or single pass NATO too.
If people with smaller wrists want a cheap way to estimate how larger watches will look on them I recommend getting a Casio MRW-200H - it costs very little, looks good, and is very close to Speedmaster dimensions at 42.5mm diameter, 47.5mm lug to lug and 12mm height. In the winter I have 6 & 3/4" wrist (Summer a little under 7 & 1/4") and the Casio makes me confident on saving up for a Speedmaster.
You're talking about a different watch, this is the 39mm Speedtimer.
@@MPD90 "... if your wrist dictates that you wear a smaller watch..." you can see what a larger watch looks like on a slimmer wrist you can get a MRW 200H for peanuts.
Lume way better than the other models
The luuuuume
Alright tell me if I’m dumb but should seiko just embrace the purple or what.. I mean for one single limited watch then change the damn thing to a better blend of black. I love the videos rob and when I heard someone in my area made watch content I was like woah there’s another near me 😂
How has the pcd black coating held up to wear?
Can you please tell if this is same as seiko SBDL103.
Nice watch, personally I'd prefer without the chrono and the date
Nice watch altogether, although I am not sure if I like the washed-out green colour on indices and hands.
Just seen it live today, it is more of a bright blue. Looks way better in real life, really stood out to all other seikos in the shop window. Elegant and sporty, with just the right amount of playfulness to break the black
do they make an automatic version of these?
Someone help me to understand the utility of the 24h dial. It really bothers me on these watches, when an hour subdial would be so much more useful for me.
If you are in the navy, living on a submarine it might be useful. Or in Seattle where it’s essentially dark all winter long. 😂
yeah, it's essentially useless and I wish that subdial had an actual useful function. It's a waste, and the main drawback of this watch (other than the date cutout).
It adds balance to the dial I guess. You could view it as a day/night indicator, which while utterly useless is described as a feature on some high end mechanicals.
Thats why im going to buy Bulova instead…. i hate useless complications on watches.
@@MPD90 I don’t give Breguet a pass on it either. I love the look of the Type XXs but the same issue spoils it for me. Not that I’ll ever have the money for a Breguet but, you know!
My personal preference is double domed. Not a fan of that single dome side on distortion. Otherwise this watch would be a winner for me.
I’m a fool for blacked out watches with white hands, but GREEN??
Are there options for an Automatic Movement ?
All I could see was the dust under the glass.
Beware buyers. I bought a citizen solar diver for $425 about 2 years ago, now it is probably way over $600. When I first bought it, holding it under a lamp would charge it. Now it will only charge in direct sun light. It will not charge under a lamp. So the charging process needs to be planned for at least a day in advance, on a window sill. I have many watches so I only wear it occasionally. Planning ahead is required. Therefore, a mechanical option is ALWAYS superior.
Not sure how u managed to spend so much money on it when you can easily buy one for under 200. Also the battery charge is 6 months on a full charge so charging it under sunlight for one day every halve a year doesnt seem so bad for a 2 year old watch
I have 2 eco drives, much cheaper than the price mentioned here. No issues such as this whatsoever, I live in England so not much sun either. They live on my bedside table and one is around 6 years old and no problems at all
Aside with that the other guys said, after about 10 years, some solar watches will need a new battery. That's right. Solar watches have rechargable battery cells that degrade like all batteries. And FWIW a strong difference of opinion. I vastly prefer solar and regular quartz watches to mechanical watches, latter more an artifact of 100 years ago. There is a reason why Apple watches are quartz and all the top fitness watches and the most accurate Atomic watches.
@@jimppa86 - that’s like laughing at someone buying a $10,000 Rolex when they could just just bought a $20 Timex . . . 🤷♂️
@@lukewalker1051 "There is a reason why Apple watches are quartz and all the top fitness watches and the most accurate Atomic watches" - well yes... those are all electronic applications so by default none of those watches can possibly be mechanical... so not much of a statement really is it?
Needs a day/date function and twelve-hour subdial. Oh, and the purple color has got to go. Citizen, here I come.
when you pay 800$ in 2023 for an old tech and they cant even make the chrono hand align....
The night series are pointless on watches that barely have lume to begin with. Dumb
