Excellent review TGV. I'll admit that I've been smitten with these since they first came out and it's tempting with some for sale in the $500 range on chrono.
Great episode T! It’s nicknamed the Seitona for a reason I guess. It’s ironically a safer bet than a reimagined 6139!!!;) but how amazing would it be to bring back the Pogue!! The Flighty I don’t wear that often. Think it’s because of how busy the dial is. I only need the time from my watches and maybe it’s the strap width that limits my strap experimentation. I’d love to know when Seiko design or come up with a new watch whether it’s for the enthusiasts or whether it’s for the non watch geek!?! I guess limited editions are the geek ones! Speak soon!

Good video. I never gave it any thought until your video. The SNA411 definitely can double as a racing or flight chrono. It does it all. I normally wear my SNA411 on a Leather strap. It has been with me for 10yrs.
I have the sand or gold dial version, I have to say I love it. Sure the 24hr dial is a bit useless and the bracelet while a massive improvement over my other Seiko’s is still a bit jangly, but I bought it primarily for how it looks and that along with the way it wears leaves me with no regrets and I find myself wearing it often. The bracelet could be so much better if the tolerance of the pusher in the clasp was tighter, that’s a little frustrating because it seems so obvious.
Nice that there are good aftermarket bracelet options if you’re interested! Strapcode has an oyster and jubilee style. Uncle Seiko has also announced he will be releasing bracelet options in the near future.
@@CanttReed I just could not get a proper fit from the stock bracelet and ordered a StrapCode Super JUB II jubilee. Now a perfect fit. I also picked up a sailcloth in black with white stitching. I like that strapcode did taper to 16mm at the clasp.
Love my golden panda! I actually think the gold dial is the most cohesive design. All the hype was about the white dial, but the off black solar dials and the off-white handset didn't look great to me.
I bought this watch with a white dial 2 weeks ago and really love it. It fits my wrist so perfectly well, i looks great and fells like a high quality watch. The mentioned negatives are there, but arguably, or at least for me, a non issue. - The lume is nice, its just not that many markers. It doesnt bother me because rarely am i in such dark conditions that couldnt read my watch (as long as the hands are lumed). - The only two things that bother me A LITTLE is the bracelet....which is totaly OK, but the brushing horizontal while the case brushing is vertical. I dont know why they did that, but since you can only see that in some light conditions and the rest of the bracelet is good....i can live with that. - The 3 o'clock subdial....yes, would have really preffered if they made it a GMT complication...but hey...what watch is absolutely perfect? All in all...for the significantly discounted price i paid this watch, it is great and i will wear it proud for a long time!
Honestly, with the bracelet it feels like they just took the one they had for something else and attached it here. They indeed use these bracelets for some other models.

I bought the panda. The only thing that bothered me was the sub dials look dark blue instead of black. I guess its hard to make black solar module screens.
Indoors and low light conditions doesn’t make those solar panels obvious but in sunlight, it’s very obvious.. It’s the only chorno that I have and being a Seiko, it is reliable too…I love it
Great Review! This Channel got me back into watches. Always honest with the right amount of love to the Hobby. Thanks to TGV i‘ m into BulOva and i hope my wife got the wave the fence post right to the Surfboard Chrono A ( Quarz). A Flighty is on my List too. Thanks for the show :-).
Thank you for this. I wish you could do more reviews - your approach is different from other channels that use what's becoming a slightly stale, formulaic approach. The outcome from watching your critique is that I have a feel for the watch - almost like a connection with it - that imo others cant reproduce. Much love from Blighty; take care.
Another great video - I have a Seiko speed timer and I'm over the moon with it - not too bothered with the steel bracelet as I replaced it with a NATO and it looks great. Its probably just me but I'm not a fan of steel bracelets on any watch, cheap or expensive, and never find the fit comfortable - believe me I've tried. I actually like a 24 hr dial on my watch as I have worked in windowless environments in the past and an am/pm indication has always been very useful.
Absolutely amazing review of this watch, TGV! I agree, a huge missed opportunity for Seiko. They still make a good watch but with every release in recent years it just feels like they may be a bit past their prime. I really do wish Seiko would go back to the innovative and creative era from the 80s and 90s. I too, would gladly pay more for this model if it had some more upgrades.
Thank you so much AlexDeeply appreciated, I am so glad you agree, I was almost unsure if I should have said it as I adore the brand so much, but it has to be said. Best regards, TGV
@@jackdaniels8030 Yes! absolutely beautiful. Also the latest thin turtle releases that just came out.. Just picked up mm200 steelmaster and rivals the black bay steel in terms of finishing in every way ..
TGV… I have not watched your videos for a couple of years. The quality of all aspects of your production has increased substantially. Great work, keep rising ( now off the mall for another seiko lol)
TGV, clearly everyone has their own preference and opinion and you do a pretty good job of presenting both sides, both the pro’s and con’s of each watch. I can appreciate your fondness for the Flightmaster. I never personally owned one, however I did own a Seiko SEH010 which I believe was the predecessor to the Flightmaster. It was a great watch. Since selling the SEH010 about 10 years ago, I haven’t owned a chrono. I’ve looked at the Flightmaster. Also...the Citizen Navihawk. To be candid, neither of them really excited me to the point of making a purchase. However, when the new Seiko Speedtimer came out I knew immediately I had to own one. So there you have it....there’s no accounting for personal taste. Everyone enjoys whatever it is that appeals to their own interests.
Thanks TGV for another educational review of a watch and brand with so much history. I love my Flighty and this new Seiko cannot substitude it. I also enjoy my Yema Ralleygraph and altough it had no ticking seconds and saphire crystal, it surpasses this Seiko. Missed opportunity as you said...
Update: I got the Flighty basically brand new second hand for a great price! Im soooo happy to have it back in my collection after owning it 20 years ago then a decade without it. 😎👍
Seiko's bracelets are world renowned for penny pinching they should just give us screw links with more micro adusts on the clasp. My flightmaster is still one of my favourite watches.
I would have loved and am still hoping for a Pogue reissue. But, since this is what we got, I have to say I like what they did with it. I think it's a good looking, perfect size, practical and well built watch, that's definitely worth the money.
I have a 1972 6139-6002 resist Pogue all original, do your self a favour and hunt one down, it’s worth it and this new stuff just doesn’t even come close.
Hello. Thanks for the review. I saw the Seiko SSC815P1 with the beautiful blue dial at a local dealer. Positive: I really like that design. It has curved glass. It's a good size for me. Seiko has made a power meter, which I have missed from Seiko solar. Negative: I'm not into bracelets, I'd like Seiko to come up with an alternative strap and thus a little cheaper. I'm also not a fan of the 24 hour dial, just the aesthetic, I'd like it to be the date. The price in Denmark is an average of DKK 5,000. That's about 734 dollars. It is somewhat more expensive than expected. Would love to see it in Titanium for that price. B.R. Steen B
Been watching your content for a while; another great take on a beautiful Seiko! May I recommend that you incorporate timestamps in your videos? On a slower day, I do enjoy just listening to whole videos, especially since your story-telling and presentation is great. But the timestamps would be exceedingly useful for all other days when I’d like to jump around the video a bit to get to the parts I’d be most interested in. Cheers!
Your reviews and discussions of the SNA411 lead me to procure it, yesterday. I cannot wait to receive it. Eventually, I would love to obtain a Breitling Navitimer but the Seiko will serve me well in the meantime.
Honestly I couldn't disagree with you more on this watch, I have the blue and love it. The 24 hr indicator is a massive miss but the rest of the design really comes together. It looks like a sophisticated chronograph not like the 'toy-ish' cheaper ones seiko makes. The bracelet is very uncomfortable so that stays in the box!
Thank you for the feedback, I see this is your first comment on the channel, welcome! I have yet to try the blue version, so I really could not speak about that version, as you can understand, it would be very unfair to speak about a watch I have not tried., But as I said in this review, this version is a great watch, especially when it comes to quality, despite the many shortcomings and if you enjoy it, that is all matters! As for the "toy-ish" ones, I have yet to try any of cheaper offerings, again I can not speak for those, my flightmaster and this speedmaster I think have me covered! But I will look out for this blue version you have, I wonder if it will be a different experience. Best regards and again, welcome! TGV
I completely agree. I have the white one and absolutely love it. Feels like a watch north of $1000 on the wrist and it's great for every occasion. Totally agree on the 24 hr indicator, that and the amount of lume are my only complaints. I have much more expensive watches in my box that I think about wearing but always end up wishing I was wearing this. Absolutely love it.
@@theurbangentry I have the panda and it's pretty great. I agree with what he said above. They call them opinions for a reason though. Hope you are well!
Thank you for the review!! I have been waiting for a thouough look into this watch and you did a great job. I agree with you about all the negatives. I especially appreciate your lume comparison. I also truly wish more "traditional" watchmakers would start putting real illumination into some of their sports watches. The need to read the chonograph often doesn't end when the sun sets or you find yourself in dim light, but all these brands pretend it does. Overall on this model, you nailed it - a nice watch but a missed opportunity here by Seiko, with flaws that shouldn't exist.
My wife got me the gold dial variant. Wow I’m so happy it’s the way it is. I moved away from automatic watches in recent years.. To me luxury is comfort, beauty and lack of effort. And this watch delivers.
That 24 hour register dial complication is a total waste of dial space. Maybe Seiko is planning to use this movement to go after miota 3rd party movement business.
As always from TGV another excellent review. I own 2 Seiko's a Solar Chronograph and the Flightmaster on a Bison rubber strap which is really comfortable and gets more wrist time than any other of the watches in my modest collection.
I also wanted to buy the Seitona but instead found a jewel of a watch which is the OceanX speed racer ii which is a great homage watch to the Paul Newman Daytona and value for money.
The Flighty will always have my heart and will always be in my collection! I believe it represents the pinnacle of Seiko Chronographs. It currently wears the Valor NATO from WCWC and looks fantastic!
Good afternoon Tgv, I think in your review you have 100 percent nailed it , in my humble opinion a very nice watch however a little forgettable, I hope that this finds you well my friend, great review, speak to you soon, your friend Ryan.
Excellent review of both positives and negatives. Personally I reckon the golden age of Seiko was from 1969 to late 70s which explains why I have a pogue, a Bullhead and a John Player Special. I would LOVE to see a Pogue reissue but in Automatic chronograph as well as quartz. Citizen resissued their bullhead but it is junk compared to the original auto flyback Chrono. Their new one has an awfully clunky quartz movement in which the seconds hand doesn't even line up with the seconds markers and.the date is at 4 instead of a vertical day date at 6 as per the original, and the newer one doesn't have flyback. Please oh please Seiko , do not repeat Citizens mistake!
Thanks for the upload. I always look a Seiko watche's. I realy like their designs with case's, dials, but,.... their choices of hands, specialy the hour hands, are throwing me off. Great content, I always watch your video's , so keep posting your content. Greets from the Netherlands and say hello to Hugo.
As always really enjoy your videos! I'm a big fan of pilot watches and my all time favorite is the Breitling Navitimer. Hope to buy one in a few years time. Right now trying to make up my mind if I should go for the Flightmaster or the Citizen Promaster CB5001-57E. The latter seems a bit larger but also a good looking one.
Had my flighty for the best part of 13 years and still going strong. It's got it's battle scars but I still love the thing. Something about this watch, it's special.
Hey TGV nice shots at the Phila Navy Yard. Love going down there and seeing the ships, old buildings and aircraft carrier. So sad to see the JFK sitting there rusting after all it has done serving our country. I like that 6 o'clock power reserve. i'm not a fan of them, but it is well hidden and blends well into the complication.
Great video editing and review as always TGV !! I noted that the date indicator on your Flighty is lumed, which looks sick!! But mine from 2 years back doesn't have the lumed date. Still love it though :D But did you have yours customized or did Seiko just cut the lumed date at some point ?
I’ve lived in Japan for approximately 15 years and yes I felt it when I visited GINZA in TOKYO about how really amazing SEIKO IS !!!! You can see the famous WAKO BUILDING there !
Great review as always. I agree that the Flightmaster is king in this comparison however, check out the CASIO Lineage Radio Solar LIW-M700D-1AJF Silver. In my opinion, it comes closer. And the function list...magnifico!

I bought the panda. The only thing that bothered me was the sub dials look dark blue instead of black. I guess its hard to make black solar module screens.
Indoors and low light conditions doesn’t make those solar panels obvious but in sunlight, it’s very obvious.. It’s the only chorno that I have and being a Seiko, it is reliable too…I love it
The fightmaster hands down has it
And it’s still in the affordable category
I have mine
Great Review! This Channel got me back into watches. Always honest with the right amount of love to the Hobby. Thanks to TGV i‘ m into BulOva and i hope my wife got the wave the fence post right to the Surfboard Chrono A ( Quarz). A Flighty is on my List too. Thanks for the show :-).
Good old days; lovely to be born in the 1980’s;)!!! Thanks for the KickStart video of the week!🙏💪🤝
Good and informative review as always!
Just one thing to mention... The Tachymeter bezel is not ceramic. I believe it's polished aluminium.
Its titancarbid
@@NCSheriff7Nope; it's covered by TiC. The bezel is Al. Should have been stainless at the price point. 100 bucks Invictas are all SS FFS!
The intro is epic!!! Keep up the amazing work .
Some of us need quartz. Leave the nice looking quartz's alone. There is no denying this looks much slicker than the flight master
Outstanding review sir. Thank you very much for your endeavours. Onwards and upwards. 🙏
I bought my first Seiko because of this channel. I had to say it but it's really a quality watch Seiko makes. Now I own 3.
Best regards,
TGV
I would not agree here. Just look at the recent „Skx“ GMT, grand seikos
Thank you so much, I highly appreciate it.
Best regards,
TGV
A very nice surprise to hear some Djent-riffs in the intro! :) Gr8 vid as always!
The FlightMaster is one of my favorites too; I love it so much... Is such an iconic watch! Nice video! Ti seguo dall'Italia! 😉
I miss my Flight master. Great video
Update: I got the Flighty basically brand new second hand for a great price! Im soooo happy to have it back in my collection after owning it 20 years ago then a decade without it. 😎👍
Thanx TGV, excellent background and environment... 🍷🍷🍷
Really great and fair review.
Would love to see a Guinand featured on the channel, especially because you've praised Sinn in the past.
Unconventional Choice for the Intro Music, but very fitting to the Visuals. You really nailed it.
Thank you so much,
Best regards,
TGV
Seiko's bracelets are world renowned for penny pinching they should just give us screw links with more micro adusts on the clasp. My flightmaster is still one of my favourite watches.
Well pointed.good job ol'man
I would have loved and am still hoping for a Pogue reissue.
EPIC opening! The Flighty will always reign supreme =)
I absolutely love my Flightmaster. Best chronograph I ever owned. Seiko hit it out of the park with that one.
Hello. Thanks for the review.
I saw the Seiko SSC815P1 with the beautiful blue dial at a local dealer.
Positive:
I really like that design. It has curved glass. It's a good size for me. Seiko has made a power meter, which I have missed from Seiko solar.
Negative:
I'm not into bracelets, I'd like Seiko to come up with an alternative strap and thus a little cheaper.
The Breitling Navitimer is the king of luxury pilot watches but the Seiko Flightmaster is not a bad alternative at all.
I wonder if we will see this movement in the quartz version Invicta Speedway for less than $100.
Cool intro! Newer isn’t always better.
i have a fight master ..and it's too small for my tastes ..it looks cool close up ..i will give you that. And big love for the show.
Nice looking watch. You really need to do an episode or two from Moyers & Carmel, IN.
The Flighty will always have my heart and will always be in my collection! I believe it represents the pinnacle of Seiko Chronographs. It currently wears the Valor NATO from WCWC and looks fantastic!

Number 1! 😀 Just what was needed, an upload from TGV to beat the Sunday evening dread of returning to work! Best wishes, CWT 🏴
Good afternoon Tgv, I think in your review you have 100 percent nailed it , in my humble opinion a very nice watch however a little forgettable, I hope that this finds you well my friend, great review, speak to you soon, your friend Ryan.
The opening of this video was badass👍
Love how excited he gets about the little pouches in his backpack.

Intro music goes hard!
Cracking video as usual. Thank you.
I think I need a Hemel Air League In my life. What a stunner.
Love the new intro music
Man that intro music!!! Now let's watch the video. ;)
Class video production as always sir 👏🏻
Thank you so much! Deeply appreciated.
Best regards,
TGV
Top intro song!
The intro music was amazing!
Two weeks watching your channel and I got myself a Flightmaster! Thanks TGV!!
👏👏👏
Absolutely awesome. Thank you and enjoy!
Best regards,
TGV
As always really enjoy your videos! I'm a big fan of pilot watches and my all time favorite is the Breitling Navitimer. Hope to buy one in a few years time. Right now trying to make up my mind if I should go for the Flightmaster or the Citizen Promaster CB5001-57E. The latter seems a bit larger but also a good looking one.
I really like this new Seikona. Thanks for the review. Cheers.
You kicked some ass with that intro
Lovely macro shots, I miss these type of reviews mate.
Got my flighty a few years back from Long Island Watch, I really thought I had missed out on the opportunity in getting my hands on one.
Had to buy myself the flightmaster with an NDC strap for Christmas. Pure class.
Great review as always. I agree that the Flightmaster is king in this comparison however, check out the CASIO Lineage Radio Solar LIW-M700D-1AJF Silver. In my opinion, it comes closer. And the function list...magnifico!
What is music you use for your intro ? Very cool !!
It sounds a lot like Mick Gordon from the Doom soundtracks.
EDIT: Clarified by the man himself!
Thank you,
It's called "Apocalypse Inside" by Taheda.
Best regards,
TGV
@@theurbangentry Thank you Tristano 👍
