OZ 951 great video. I need to try that on the 1987 944 Turbo you sold me in SATX all those years ago. BTW it is still running after a complete engine rebuild, trans rebuild, MAF/MAP and DME conversion and a few other projects,
This is an interesting comparing this procedure with that on my Z06 Corvette. To do the torque tube in the Z, it takes about a hour and a half (after it's off the car) and a $250 bearing/coupler kit (Made in Germany, believe it or not). I'm planning on doing this when the clutch is replaced. It's about 8-10 hours of labor to extract the TT. I'm planning on the entire job to cost about $2500-2800 turn key. I'm assuming on a 944, it's about 3-5x more...
Interesting to know, I have heard of the flex plate / torque tube issue but was not sure what the problem was. I currently have an auto trans full of radiator water due to a ruptured heat exchanger in the radiator, would be nice to do this refurbishment too, i'll ask the mechanic to check it when the trans is out.
What modifications have you done to your engine? Are you using a vitesse system, etc. Would be interested to know your performance upgrades as I am at the beginning stages of an engine rebuild and want to incorporate as many performance upgrades now as the engine is being built. Also are you using a manual steering rack, I don't see the power steering reservoir in your engine bay? Thanks for any info you might provide
very helpful - am about to undertake the same task so appreciate the upload. Will take your advice & methods on board. Thanks 😀
Really impressive! I'm not yet capable of this level of work. But, your patience and thoughtful approach will serve as my role model.
Well done! 👍🏼👌🏼
Great work! This is on my agenda in the future, got good info here👌

You are my hero, ...Incredible job. What made you change the bearings out? I have a little tube noise.
Boss Level 100!
I wanted to do this with ceramic bearings when I did my clutch, but really did not have time. Maybe one day.
Good work !!
Nice engine
Really great video but I wish you would talk. It seems I missed things when I was either reading or looking at you procedure.
I am a Fan. Incredible! How did it work out? Is the torque Tube still Good?
