I love how different Freddy was in this game, how scary he was in this game. He was intelligent, hiding in the cameras and never backtracking as he approaches you. And then when he taunts you by laughing, and him playing his song when the power cuts out. It's sad how Freddy wasn't so scary in the next games.
What was originally some dude's last project before giving up became the BIGGEST thing on the Internet and it payed his and practically every major UA-camrs bills (ie Markiplier,Dawnko Matpat ect)
That whole 'Lore/Creepypasta' section hits different, perfectly describes what FNAF used to be like and honestly something I wish it returned too, for both FNAF and modern indie horror. BTW, what's the name of that song used in that section goes unbelievably hard?
Great video, completely agree with the title although i am still watching the video, its shocking how the game is already 10 years old as i remember when markliper first played it. Good luck with ur fnaf in real time marathon btw!
I cant believe Scott made this 10 years ago when gaming wasnt even that big and yet this game has made probably the biggest lore related franchise to ever be in this world. Like we still dont know some stuff about it like midnight motorists Scott outdid himself since day one :)
I know it's a simple resource management game but this game is STILL what an Indie Horror game should be The atmosphere and subtle lore us what makes it scary finding the missing kids posters and the random flashes of "IT'S ME" plus Golden Freddy. There's enough here to get the mystery going when Phone Guy says theyre left in a "free roaming" mode at night and don't recognize you as a person but an endo it's very clear he's bullshitting as you discover the real reason is because of the ghost of the dead kids Fazbear Entertainment has been trying to sweep under the rug are back to haunt the place serving for who caused their new forms. The animatronics designs are perfect too looking like actually mascots you'll see in IRL which is similar to why the Similing Critters work because like the Fazbear Band they took the less is more approach and can look cute in on senareo and horrifiying in another. 7/8 Only problems are 1 Custom Night isn't that replayable 2 Foxy's jumpscare is ass
Great video!! I love listening such video essays so much, great overview of the game's parts, agree on everything, esp Bonnie praise and Freddy's laugh. Istg, both his laugh and the march haunts me to this day, 10 years later
Great video J! I def agree that FNAF1 mastered horror lowk, it’s just the quietness of the game and the mystery revolving around it cuz we didn’t know anything else
I actually can't believe it's been exactly 10 years since fnaf, that's crazy, also the thumbnail is very unique compared to your other ones, nice job! And of course, great yapping session (but nah I'm joking, good video! I remember Jeff The Killer would always make me scared lol, I do get somewhat scared of it but not as much anymore)
You make good points about the designs. I keep thinking to myself they're just some fake animatronics and why am I jumping at then showing up at my door? Not even at the jumpscare itself, just them being at my door is enough to make me never want to play the game again because I'm scared
I appreciate hearing your take on FNAF 1 - just I already heard this topic so many times before, it's starting to feel like one and the same. If any game would benefit from a proper review - World or UCN aren't games I hear people talk about that much (review wise) in 2024.
Overall, the analysis is great, with many good points. Just a bit too drawn out and some terms got tossed around repeatedly (one of the best, scariest, etc...). After being said, i really like your video, keep it up my dude.
When you first play it, Yes its unsettling but today its not scary at all To be complete fair I myself was never scared of FNAF but Bonnie did creep me out and Golden Freddy did catch me off guard
Markiplier did not put the game on the map. The game was so good that it was destined to blow up. If anyone deserves credit, I have to give it up to Game Theory. Even though I can't stand them anymore, he did popularize FNAF Theory crafting.
The reason i said markipier is from my memory of being in high school when this game came out, markiplier was like 90% of peoples first experience with the game. And with his golden freddy appearance, we got hooked. Game Theory was more fnaf 2 than fnaf 1 i would argue, as his fnaf 1 video wasnt as popular as his fnaf 2 and onwards theorys. For FNAF 1 it was the lets players that blew it up, the theorists blew up FNAF 2 and more or so the franchise.
Fnaf 1 just hit diffrent .So simple yet so entertaining.Masterpiece by Scott.
Indeed!
Ahhhh saving the video for the 10th anniversary I see what you did.

Considering FNAF made an entire sub genra of horror (Mascot Horror), that just goes to show how impactful and terrifying it was.
literally!
Freddy is the mob boss of the gang.

Very spooky
Great video! It would be really cool if you started a series analyzing each game like this one.
I wouldn't mind doing something like that for the 10 year anniversaries
Fnaf 1 is truely the game of all time.
True
I just saw this UA-camr for this first time, I will be watching all of his videos from now !
W glad u enjoyed
Great watch, I love your videos on what you think about fnaf!
Glad you like them!
What happened to the views? Like last video was 12k views and this one is only 600. It’s a good video!
Hopefully it picks up
A long form video hell yeah!

I'd say that SCP: Containment Breach aged better as a horror. Mostly because it didn't devolve into what FNAF is today.
yeah, but even at that i think fnaf 1 isn’t that scary in the first place and games like scp containment breach are terrifying
Hello great vid
lol thanks
I still think this game is by far the scariest game in the series.
