good planning, remember not to get carried away by enthusiasm and follow stronger people. add a little simple sodium to the water and tackle the climbs from z3 and z4 only in the last few minutes. arriving well at the end means recovering positions from those who have exhausted themselves first.I'm rooting for you
Great work Jarrod!
And maaan you have come a long way since beginning, with both weight and fitness, - very impressive! Keep it up, cheers!
Nice job, I promise you running 28mm over 25 is 100% better on this bike and the rolling resistance is proven to be better with bigger tyres with less air pressure.
Great video! 🎉 🎦 Cracking riding and race too! 💪 🚲
Jarrod, love your videos. I like how you put them together, talk over the footage, provide great footage and carry such a positive attitude. All the best in 2024.
Thanks! Hopefully 2024 will be a great year for us all!!
Congrats
Great to see your progression over the years!!
4th is honestly a very good result, gotta be happy with that. You're defo making good steady progress, and the variety of indoor / outdoor training you're doing is good as the body adapts to the same daily training if you did the same kinda thing every day.
Completely agree, 4th is a fantastic result 💪🏼
Really good work there. From experience, it is really difficult to win race like these. Around here, you can"t let a group get away if you want to contest the win. It's the difference between racing for the result or racing for the win.
Love the videos man. Awesome content. Keep it up!
Greetings from Thailand. Great effort on your first race!
Thank you! 😃
Outstanding work! So cool to see you take on a proper race. Looks like success to me!
Thanks!!
Wow, 4th but you did it solo at the latter part. It's probably the same effort as the front group.
Wow you look awesome was just watching the video where you built your domane and I clicked on this video and thought I saw a different person.
Great effort. Congrats on the finish. I'd probably over prepare too. Still better than the alternative. I've really enjoyed your progress. You're doing really well. Its inspired me on my cycling journey in the last few years. Love the content.
Awesome, thank you!
Nice effort man! Group rides like this is the reason I train. I've done so many this year and every one was a blast. Hills are my nemesis same as you as I always get dropped. Flats are absolute great fun with a strong group. I noticed you were pretty far back from the group a lot, there's much more to be gained by getting closer and staying in the draft. Maybe think about joining a local club to work on those pack skills some to save more energy. As for the hills I got a trainer this winter to hopefully push my fitness to that next level. Managed alpe du zwift in 1:00:45 2 days ago, an improvement of 2 minutes from a month ago. Hopefully next year I'll hang with the fast group up the mountains. Keep up with the really good down to earth content, really enjoying it!
For sure! At the moment most of the group rides are on the other side of the city, so riding 40km at 5am just to join them isn't that appealing. But soon I'll be moving back to England and hopefully there'll be some closer groups to join where i can work on those skills!
Good work and congrats for the great effort! 🎉
Thank you! 😃
Lets go Jarrod! nice one mate
Nice Job Jarod.
Pre planning the big climb was a really good idea, nothing worse than dropping off at the top and losing a lot of ground.
But 1 Question: Why are you riding the 25 mm?
I am a ~80Kg Rider and ride 25/28mm, but only because my bike doesn't allow 30's (because rim brakes)
30mm tires give so much more grip and comfort which for me outweighs the minimal more (wind-)resistance by a lot.
I tested the 30 or 32mm on my girlfriends bike and will absolutely swap to bigger tires with my next bike, even when riding a bike-marathon.
Thanks!
I bought both the 30mm and 25mm to go on my two wheelsets, and to be honest I couldn't feel any difference in the comfort between the two, so I just defaulted to the 25mm because they're a bit lighter. I'm never really pushing to the limit so I don't think the difference in grip is something I'd notice either.
I ended up getting a carbon seat post, and for me, the flex in that made a far larger difference in comfort than the tyre size difference ever did
@@JMower Well okay then, i was just wondering :). But nice find with the seat post, i'll have try that in the future.
Nice job. How do you add map on the top right video?
Thanks! It’s an app called telemetry overlay
Why do you not use your garmin watch as your heart rate monitor? I use my Garmin instinct 2 solar when I'm riding and it works really well.
I was trying to set that up while I was riding, but couldn't get it to work. If I took the time to set it up before I started the ride it probably would've been fine actually. Normally when riding I just use the heart rate monitor and leave my watch at home to charge
how do you know your position in the end?
How is the weight loss coming on? I find that the hardest bit by a mile
Not so good. Currently still about 95kg. I'll be without a bike for the next 2 months or so, as I'm shipping them back to the UK. So I'll take up running again for a bit!
Which cyclocomputer are u using .?
Garmin edge 530
@@JMower nice , planning to get the al3 but the edge 530 is way too expensive for me 🤣🤣🤣
@@AzaanUiX Don't worry about getting an expensive bike computer, the cheaper ones do 90% of the stuff as the expensive ones!
