Amazing effort from both the guys, and hats off to Ollie. Alex is an epic racer, so for Ollie to go harder and look less troubled .... aside from the bike, what else was optimised??
After watching this I got all emotional but couldn't figure if it was for Alex's effort for finishing it after suffering so much or Ollie's above and beyond inspirational encouragement and support for Alex. These guys have to be one of the best dynamic duos of GCN!! Well done. Kudos also to the camera crew for looking out for Alex.

Great video! Glad to see Alex on an epic ride. We saw Conor, Manon, Si, Hank and Ollie all reach their limits in previous videos but never Alex. 30 degrees for 300+km is beyond epic. Respect to both of you!

That last 7km was my commute in summers 2003-2006. After a season of partying it felt like that all September😂😂 on my decathlon 24 speed.. nice work guys!!!
I thought the same thing. Seemed like heatstroke in that bonk. He even said he was dehydrated. Surprised they didn't at least acknowledge that. Its a big deal on an epic hot ride.
After watching this I'm inspired to do the ride myself. I have several friends in mind and I know we could do it with 5 guys. props on doing it with just the 2 of you. IMPRESSIVE!!!
Only GCN would do an ad for an aero helmet in the heat of Mallorca. I think the next video should be an ad for thermal bibs and jerseys in August. I especially had a good laugh @12:27 when Ollie tried to cool his head off by pouring water over a helmet with no vents. At least the helmet felt more refreshed. 🤣😂 As for the boys, respect for fighting off the heat and the horrible helmet decision to finish the ride. You still kept a great pace with all that elevation.

Great video, Olli you are clearly in the shape of your life, are you now exacting revenge for the "Olli is dropped videos" many moons ago. Chapeau to you both. Maybe a full GCN attempt in the spring at the Ineos record. Full support, lightweight bikes for the first 180km switch to aero and team time trail mode for the dash for home. And more salt for Alex. Anyhow, what a great effort.
Nice to see Ollie helping out - one of my friends on a (much flatter!) 300 said having a ride buddy is important as when one of you is down the other usually isn't, so you can help each other out. Epic effort - that salt is a badge of honour! 💪🧂🎖️
Alex looked like he had been rolling in wheat flour at the end, that was a mighty effort to finish off. And good sportsmanship from Ollie for not getting revenge and dropping Alex for once. His fitness transformation has been nothing short of astounding.
Absolutely awesome effort guys. Alex absolutely and completely emptied the tank on that one. Respect. 🤜🤛 With those salt stains, and being 6 kg lighter at the end of the ride, I’d love to see a GCN video of Alex doing a sweat test, and working out how much sodium he needs to be taking in to replace his losses on long rides like that.

Man, i've been there Alex. On my 330 km ride it was 37+ C out on the roads. I bonked as hard as I've ever bonked before. I will say, I don't think "they're quite a bit better than us" is the _best_ excuse you've ever offered, but i'm sure it's the most honest.
That encouragement in the end by Ollie shows we need more people like him. I'd rather hear the bag of excuses any day when finishing a terrible day of riding.
Awesome ride lads. Alex was suffering from the heat for sure. But, didn't quit. That's so cool. Oldie stayed true to his mate. That's all that matters. We all have good and bad days. hats off to you both, 300+kms in 10 hours. anyone would be happy with that result "im scared to do a fart, in case its a poo" yeah i've been there before Ollie
Huge respect. Especially for 2 of you. In 1994 I did 374km in one day from Randvaal (south of Johannesburg, South Africa) to Bloemfontein. We were a group 10 riders. I cannot tell you how hard that was! I found God, inner peace, Zen, Buddha, you name it. It was horrific. The first 100km was fine. 100-200km was ok'ish. 200-300km was the most brutal thing I have ever experienced, and the final 70km I was a robot, I cannot remember certain sections or conversations! It broke me! But I think it changes you as a cyclist once you have been able to cross the 200km threshold.
Amazing Kudos to Alex, I’ve been there with heat exhaustion and it takes insane amounts of effort just to do another 10 miles let alone 60 you did after the beginning of the bonk. Thing is however horrible once you know you can push yourself that far it’s easier the second time.
Ollie providing motivational words during the monumental bonk - “That is a truly impressive amount of salt that’s all over you.” “I feel like I’ve needed a poo for the last five hours”. Genius!!
Whenever I watch GCN videos, I can't help but get thrilled by those epic pedals you guys make. Ever since I discovered the channel, I've learned about so many dream cycling destinations, even though they're far from my reality (financially and also in terms of physical fitness, hahaha). That ride in Mallorca was truly awesome. Congratulations, Alex and Ollie. If you ever come to South America for a ride, bring along a viewer (that's me)!
Incredible! Also, man, it was so cool to see Ollie encouraging Alex and trying to make him laugh. It actually made me tear up a bit! Thanks for the amazing content as always!!
@okantichrist ,,,,steamed sticky toffee treacle plum bread bread and butter Christmas rice chocolate hasty ...to name but a few, and then there's all the puddings that we don't call pudding.
WOW outstanding brotherly love going on here it’s inspiring well done lads 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 credit for doing it in 10mins despite the hold ups!! Clearly Ollie is the new Pro at GCN 👑🤔
Well done! Great effort. 💪Brings back some good memories. I did this ride 3 weeks ago.. Only the other way around and not as fast as you guys. 😀 What an epic ride. Great video GCN. Keep up the good work.
Fair.Play..! for Alex continuing. I've (we've all?) been in that place with bonk before and it was completely brutal. couldn't hear, couldn't push the pedals, vision near enough gone - no way could I carry on for hours in that heat... Complete and utter warrior. Good to see Oli loving the form he's worked hard to get - nothing greater than being in good form and feeling 110%!
the two stand out moments 1. I've needed a poo but I don't dare fart anymore 😂😂😂😂😂 2. Alex is on his arse completely hanging.... Ollie's response 'come on you've got this' 😂😂😂😂
Brilliant video, even better ride! Full marks to Alex for keeping going whilst suffering and full marks to Ollie for the support and enthusiasm to finish, fantastic example for a two man challenge!
Hell of an effort to make it to the finish, looked quite sick and incoherent at the end. Ollie is now a serious endurance athlete and no longer the butt of jokes, chapeau!
Ollie's book of excuses ain't no excuses but challenges. Two of them compared to a team is a feat itself (for blokes like me). Big congratulations! 👏👏👏👏👍👍
Legends! I can confirm how hard it is to do such a distance in that heat. This year’s Mallorca 312 was really hot and I only managed the 225km. I was so done after that and couldn’t imagine how much harder it would have been to do the full distance. Ollie and Freddy inspired me to sign up for M312 with your beginner to hero video. I’ll go there again one day to finish the entire distance.
So cool to hear that we've inspired you to take on this epic challenge 🙌 225km is still such an amazing achievement! What are you going to chance got the next time you take it on?
@@gcn More training for the climbs, of course and definitely trying to ride in a group as on the flats there's lots of energy to be saved. Hopefully the food stations will improve as well so I won't have to stop at random shops in villages for coke and bananas :)
Really appreciate GCN showing the ups and downs of bicycling. Bonking is a real downer. Respect! …not even going to broach that 5-hour-poo topic. 19 mph average over that distance is very respectable here in TX heat. We understand 30C/86F is no fun.
An amazing effort by both lads! Taking nothing away from Ollie, let's not be critical of Alex. No amount of fitness or training would overcome the impact of a 6 kilo weight loss. He was well on the way to the 10% weight loss that the US NIH would say is life threatening. Shows how critical hydration and fueling are on long efforts.

Super video guys! The views your film crew captured of Mallorca were amazing. That island truly is a magical place. The suffering you put Alex and Ollie through made it all worth while.

I rarely wear my aero helmet in the summer.
I have this lid and don’t feel any difference in regards to overheating versus the very vented Met. That is riding in England in summer though!
Above all, this shows what a machine Ollie is nowadays. Recognised many of the roads on the vid and just want to be back there now! Great work!
Well done both for an awesome ride, both in scenery and distance.
Have you ever ridden in Mallorca? It really is a cycling paradise 😍
I'm going to Mallorca and that first part of the video now will be part of my ride, thank you. 300 KMS at 31 in my book is bloody fast, Well done
Amazing Kudos to Alex, I’ve been there with heat exhaustion and it takes insane amounts of effort just to do another 10 miles let alone 60 you did after the beginning of the bonk. Thing is however horrible once you know you can push yourself that far it’s easier the second time.
He's one tough cookie 👀 Most people would of given a up a while back... maybe that's the safer things to do! But Alex and Ollie smashed it 🙌
I have nothing but respect for you guys. I could have never done as well, even when I was in my prime.
Humongous kudos to you both. My legs were hurting just watching it 🤣 👏👏👏
Hahahaha their legs are still hurting 🥵 Some serious recovery needed after this!
Kudos All Around 🥳
Incredible! Also, man, it was so cool to see Ollie encouraging Alex and trying to make him laugh. It actually made me tear up a bit! Thanks for the amazing content as always!!
Share this video with your friends, if you got any 😅😅😅
I do..but they dont like that much
Don’t worry mate - we’ve got this for you 😂😂
The sad reality
Glad to see the Rule 28 Aero Base Layers coming in handy under your jerseys!
From now on, pudding trolley is my new goal for every ride
We feel like there should be a pudding trolley at the end of all our rides 🤣
But actual pudding, not the British version which is not pudding.
@@shepshape2585I’m British and pudding rarely means Yorkshire 😂
@okantichrist
,,,,steamed
sticky toffee
treacle
plum
bread
bread and butter
Christmas
rice
chocolate
hasty
...to name but a few, and then there's all the puddings that we don't call pudding.
Well done chaps, that was one huge effort and good to see you supporting each other. Teamwork man!
Have you given up on trying to kill Hank and moved onto poor Alex ?
Who is Alex?
Amazing effort lads and for Alex to hang in there for over 100km having bonked but clearly got dehydrated was incredible. Absolute hats off.
Great stuff GCN. How about a lap of Tenerife?
WOW outstanding brotherly love going on here it’s inspiring well done lads 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 credit for doing it in 10mins despite the hold ups!! Clearly Ollie is the new Pro at GCN 👑🤔
Do you think it's time for a big presenter challenge? 🥇
@gcn hell yea..... but maybe wrong time of the year? It'll be 3 or 4 lads V Ollie 🤔🤣🤣
Well done! Great effort. 💪Brings back some good memories. I did this ride 3 weeks ago.. Only the other way around and not as fast as you guys. 😀 What an epic ride. Great video GCN. Keep up the good work.
Guys, it was 312km!!!!! Damn! Respect all around! Cheers
Epic ride, amazing video, one of the best yet! 🔥❤ @Alex way to push through, legend mate.
Ollie sounds more Yorkshire the longer cycles “T’ bottomless puddin’ trolleh!” 😂 11:01
Fair.Play..! for Alex continuing. I've (we've all?) been in that place with bonk before and it was completely brutal. couldn't hear, couldn't push the pedals, vision near enough gone - no way could I carry on for hours in that heat... Complete and utter warrior.
Good to see Oli loving the form he's worked hard to get - nothing greater than being in good form and feeling 110%!
the two stand out moments
1. I've needed a poo but I don't dare fart anymore 😂😂😂😂😂
2. Alex is on his arse completely hanging.... Ollie's response 'come on you've got this' 😂😂😂😂
hahahaha, It was a dangerous moment for Ollie🤣
Brilliant video, even better ride! Full marks to Alex for keeping going whilst suffering and full marks to Ollie for the support and enthusiasm to finish, fantastic example for a two man challenge!
this distance is unfathomable
Hell of an effort to make it to the finish, looked quite sick and incoherent at the end. Ollie is now a serious endurance athlete and no longer the butt of jokes, chapeau!
How can Ollie be so damn cheerful after that? 😮
He's in his element here 🙌
The heat is no joke. The well-being of your mates comes first. I love the team spirit amongst the GCN presenters. You can, indeed, be proud
Just watching this video made me feel like I bonked too. 😩 Well done lads!
No wonder Alexi was slurring his speech towards the end; that was a serious challenge. You definitely did a good job gentlemen!
Next time you bring along Ritchie and Tobi from GCN auf Deutsch and you'll smash Ineos' time.
Sponsored by Snickers and Coke.
Ollie's book of excuses ain't no excuses but challenges. Two of them compared to a team is a feat itself (for blokes like me). Big congratulations! 👏👏👏👏👍👍
Ollie showing impressive form. Remember, he was made fun of.
He just keeps getting better! Might have something to do with this👉ua-cam.com/video/PSoQa-SBJlU/v-deo.html
A thing you should take into account is that Ineos could use the slipstream from each other 😊
Really appreciate GCN showing the ups and downs of bicycling. Bonking is a real downer. Respect!
…not even going to broach that 5-hour-poo topic.
19 mph average over that distance is very respectable here in TX heat. We understand 30C/86F is no fun.
The longest distance I have ever done is 210km. Riding 312k is already an achievement itself. You should be proud, no matter what.
200km is some going! 👀 Do you think you'll ever got for a 300km ride? 🗺
Very good job, no need to compare to Ineos…🤗👍🚴🏼
@GCN please try this challenge with a group of riders, 2 from each channel, Spain, Germany UK, Italy, France, etc; there might be a good chance to improve the overall time. Good job Ollie and Alex!. Love how supporting was Ollie
Being scared to fart because you think you’ll poo. The technical term for that is called a “shart” guys.
Can you follow through with that? What’s the outcome ? 🤔🙃
🤣
@jeremymcbride8729 Now that is bizarre, I, Gerry McBride just made similarly themed comment elsewhere in this thread 💩
Super video guys! The views your film crew captured of Mallorca were amazing. That island truly is a magical place. The suffering you put Alex and Ollie through made it all worth while.
Don't know what would be worse sun stroke and exhaustion or putting up with Ollie for 9hrs on a bike ride. I felt for Alex. 😂
You two have done a very good job! Chapeau!
Full respect. "Pudding trolley" & "They're quite a bit better than us" 😁. Tough & hard day in the saddle. Well done for sticking with it.🚲
Well done and good try to both of you! You're a trooper,Alex, and you had one of the best beside you all the way.
Epic effort!!! The heat will absolutely KILL you. In Texas here so I feel your pain! Awesome ride, guys!!!
Massive respect guys! We've all been there
Ollies attitude is what you need in a mate to get you home.
As someone who persperates alot, it's so hard to keep going when you're so dehydrated and loosing electrolytes so quick so well done Alex. Another epic watch 😎👌
Love these epic ride videos. Chapeau Alex for making it to the end. 👍👍
