  • @blackflamesolutions526

    I've been accused of this too. I use power meter pedals and there is a delay in my increased efforts registering in Zwift wattage, and if I make a hard stop pedalling for 3s, the last displayed wattage does stick for a couple of seconds, before dropping to 0. But, when I start pedalling again, there is again a momentary delay before the increase registers. As long as you aren't getting too many 'flat tops' on your profile, i wouldn't worry about it. And even if you do, WTL uses AI to detect excessive sticky watts and can DQ you, so no DSQ = no cheating, imo. It can also be a big disadvantage, like in a TTT where you are getting murdered trying to hold position in the rotation. Like others have said I'm trying to keep pedalling all the time and not 'microburst'. There will always be whiners accusing people of cheating. Trainers vary massively in power accuracy and it's amazing how light race winners tend to be. In the A category it's not unusual to see 50.0kg riders doing 6w/kg and soloing to victory.

  • @kidsafe
    @kidsafe 28 днів тому

    People and nature in general always find the path of least resistance. You stumbled upon sticky watts and started taking advantage of it sub/semi-consciously. What you are doing is definitely "bad manners" and you should stop doing it by continuing to soft-pedal over the crest. Don't blame the equipment, don't make excuses. You don't need to apologize, you just need to stop doing it.

    • @blackflamesolutions526
      @blackflamesolutions526 13 днів тому

      @@joelnace1793 I actually do have a tendency to pedal like this on Zwift. I tend to always want to accelarate to the front, then coast. It's what I did for years racing here in NL. I also seem to subconciously coast into corners then accelerate out opf them. I also got into trouble with sticky watts on this, as I used a PM (now switched to a Kickr). I even have some lunatic stalking me here and on Zwift, using my real name and calling me a cheat. I got a DSQ for 39/45 in a ZRL event because riding alone up the final climb 5 mins behind the winner, I kept trying to hold 400w, then thinking 'WTF' and easing off, then getting frustrated and stamping on the pedals again. Ths triggered the sticky watts thing. Some berk thinks I did this on purpose to cheat.

  • @PunchyZwifter
    @PunchyZwifter 28 днів тому

    That was 100% sticky Watts. Easy way to make sure it doesn't happen, don't instantly stop pedalling. It always causes the game to carry on with your power at the point you stopped. It is easy to tell if you have sticky Watts. Look at the graph of your power, if it shows flat spots on the top, you have sticky Watts. Saying this, I just looked through the power graphs of your last few races and only these points in this race show those tell tale flat spots repeated, so it is fairly obvious that you arent gaming the system repeatedly on purpose. 😊😊 But.... just make sure you don't keep doing it as it deftinately gains an advantage. The people here saying it is fine are wrong, it really isn't.

    Worth considering the fact you're heavier and this can carry momentum in the rollers. I'm 91kg and I often carry more momentum over the top than others even in a leisurely group ride. If I stop or reduce power I drift forward relative to others on the down.

    Hi, I had a look at your fit file and you are getting tell-tale flat tops of power through that section for about 3s each time. That is Zwift is repeating your last known wattage. I wouldn't rely on the in-game display to give you an accurate representation of what it is being sent since you are viewing a 3s average. If you have a 10hz trainer and 1s display the power fluctuates much more rapidly, but again its only the HUD display that is updating. Its what is in your Fit File that matters. Are you using pedals as a power source? Its quite uncommon for a trainer to create sticky watts. I would add you are better off soft pedalling and easing off on the down bits of rollers. It keeps the legs spinning. Save coasting for the supertuck.

  • @ZwiftyZwifter
    @ZwiftyZwifter 29 днів тому

    It does look like you got some stickywatts. But, as with most people, it’s accidental so not cheating. And you probably weren’t gaining an advantage over your competitors for the top spots as you were just taking a bit of unnecessary wind. Though you probably made it harder for those struggling to stay on by inadvertently making the pack speed higher. Not many trainers do this, if you’re using pedals or crank as the source for your power I’d switch to the trainer and it’s far less likely to happen. Having said that I still don’t understand why Zwift don’t change their code so that the power goes to zero when there’s none being send. Great ride and great season…will maybe see you in the Bs…
