Heart - Magic Man. One of their best.
The Dreamboat Annie album and the single "Crazy On You" climbed up the Billboard Top 40 charts circa 1976. The Wilson sisters and their band really showed their chops early on and never looked back. The title cut "Dreamboat Annie" is a real beauty of a song, full of youthful imagery.
This is what uncompressed 1975 music sounds like. No studio tricks, just pure talent.
this was right smack dab in the middle of the 70ies the brunette is lead vocals and her sister te blonde is lead guitar Ann and Nancy Wilson did have a very unique sound many songs like ... Magic Man and Barracuda.. but to me their best pure music live performance was their cover of the Stairway to heaven live in a theater while Led Zepplin minus John Bohnam (r.I.P) its so good .....even tho the ladies are like over 60.... pure talent to say the least see you next time
Ann is a semi permanent co host of the Talk the sane women talk show that is direct opposite of the one Hosted by Whoopy and Rosie
Kick it out is another good one
With a few exceptions Nancy is mainly a rhythm guitarist
Yes agree, their performance for Led Zeppelin was just amazing. I can watch it every day and cry to their performance. It just gives me so many feels. 😃
And they're still performing!
Grew up listening to Heart, this was classic mid 70’s rock, you definitely need to check out their song “Barracuda”
@LEO Mike Magic Man is also another song I think she should listen to I think that maybe she might like it.
Barracuda....The live video....mosdef
I've been listening to Heart all my life. Saw them, actually met them, in San Francisco in the late 70's. I'm digging your reactions!
I grew up listening to Heart! The guitar player is Nancy Wilson, the blonde on the album cover. The singer is Ann Wilson. They are sisters who grew up in Seattle. They started performing rock and roll at a time when the genre was mostly men. They have been singing for the last 4 decades together.
Heart - among the few successful female rockers. This one was a banger.
I first heard it in the 70's. The whole album is awesome. Anne and Nancy Wilson broke down some big walls for future female rockers.
If you're going to react to Heart, then their song "Barracuda" is mandatory! Lol
thats a song if sushi plays she would be like... oh i know this!!! everyone knows that song
classic!!
what did u think of their live version on Zep.... Stair way to Heaven?
I saw them back in August 1977 right after "Barracuda" was released. Great show!
And Wilson is my favorite rock and roll female singer of all time and you are Barracuda kicks off all the song Awesome how could I not be with a singer like that. I love love Allah keep my love but it keep my love alive Dreamboat Annie set alarm man love a lot of I pray that all the time that's on my playlist
@@luciferluci4570 God oh Mighty my favorite televised performance of any song ever!
Ann Wilson had such a powerful voice, recordings couldn’t capture it. I saw them in concert and was stunned.
70's girl hard rock band two sisters making a name for themselves and boy did they many great song to ck out magic man killer song I've seen them 6 times in concert
@D Beguiled I'll have to agree with you except for the song these dreams it was a personal experience that happened to them in the Bermuda triangle area
I don't know anyone who thought of them as a "girl rock band." They were just a rock band with two sisters leading it. YMMV.
@@armadillotoe ymmv ? Not fimilar. With that one
The guitarist is Nancy Wilson, lead singer is Ann, her sister. The 70's produced the most prolific rock musician, singer, songwriters in American music history. It started in the '60's, however.
The 70's was the most diverse decade of music in the last 50 years, I believe !
Nope that was the sixties
@@DENVEROUTDOORMAN hell nah
@@DENVEROUTDOORMAN not at all
1976, Nancy Wilson (vocals, guitar, mandolin) Ann Wilson (lead vocals, flute, guitar) and they are sisters and they are the Songwriter(s).
The things Nancy Wilson can do with an acoustic guitar is incredible. My favorite song though has to be 'Dreamboat Annie'.
I’ve seen Heart in concert three times, twice before Ann gained weight and once after. I thought it was stupid and cruel how radio stations made an issue of her weight because she sounded fantastic!
If you like Crazy On You, check out Hearts cover of Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Center Honors Led Zeppelin.
They kicked butt on that and the Zeppelin gave them a standing "O" not to mention all the DC politicos at the time.
YES! Absolutely amazing
The Wilson sisters covering Stairway to Heaven left me shaking with elevated blood pressure. The only white women's voice that rivals the Wilson sisters is Grace Slick of the Jefferson Airplane.
You could see how moved Robert Plant was by it!
@@lylecosmopolite nope
You should see a live version of this. The two ladies are sisters, Ann and Nancy Wilson. The acoustic guitar is played by Nancy. Also the lyrics are expressing extreme worry by a mother during a turbulent time, "bombs :are falling and the kids keep coming" She seeks escape by making love with her husband, "let me go crazy on you".
1975-76? My brother was learning how to play it on both his acoustic and a borrowed electric guitar and 3 of us shared the room (him on the roll-out) but we all got to listen to it until he could play it. He was 18 and leaving to go into the Army at the time. He loved Heart, Linda Ronstadt, Jefferson Airplane, Elvis then later on Pat Benatar and so many more.
I remember hearing Heart live in concert in Tampa in the 70s. I wasn't at the concert. That was many blocks away at the Jai Alai fronton but I could still hear them.
The acoustic guitar intro to the song was Nancy Wilson, the blonde sister. Ann did most all the lead vocals with Nancy as backup singer.
Released in 1975 Sushi. Also Anne has some Great pipes huh ? Dreamboat annie, great song Really melodic and Beautiful!
First time I heard this song? Heart played a dance at my high school before they got famous so we got to hear this for the first time live. Absolutely awesome! Nancy Wilson's acoustic guitar intro is wonderfully inspired and her sister Ann's vocals are simply astonishing. They were best with the original lineup of the band as you could hear a strong Led Zeppelin influence as well as an ethereal Gypsy feel. They were a very rounded band as they could play light acoustic pieces just as deftly as their hard rocking material. For more of them, check out Barracuda or Dog And Butterfly - two masterful songs from opposite ends of the musical spectrum
It came out in August 1975, from their first album. Ann Wilson is the singer and her younger sister Nancy is the one who played that wicked acoustic guitar at the beginning. The rest of the band was a group of talented guys. Long story but a tremendously talented band.
Magic Man and Barracuda are the next two killer songs to listen to.
The Wilson sisters are, without a doubt, two of the most influential women in the history of rock!
Brilliant! One of my favourite bands...
Love your honesty. It can be hard to learn to appreciate different styles of music when you first hear them.
Sisters Anne and Nancy Wilson. Anne sings lead and her sister Nancy plays acoustic and rhythm guitar and sings harmony with Anne. They started out in Seattle, WA in 1970. They have a lot of awesome hits from the 70s-80s: Barracuda, Magic Man, Dreamboat Annie, Dog and Butterfly, Dreams, etc.
Sushi !! This is ‘76...sisters Ann and Nancy we’re keeping up with the dude rock bands, showing them how it was done! Great melodies and instrumentation!! Song is groovy as hell too!!
Great call with the "aahs" coming from the 70's. I heard Heart one day hanging out with my white friends and fell in love with them immediately. Very talented.
Yes they are!
This album was released while I was in the Army in Germany. We cranked it up and played it often. Great album.
Ann's voice is a powerhouse, without unnecessary affectations or vocal acrobatics.
Heart -Crazy On You 1976. Classic Rock was still a time of Musicians. Truly appreciate the talent live watching them preform. They sound exactly the same Live, no Filters or Dubbing" Anne Wilson (Lead Vocals) was the Christina Agulaira of ROCK, Nancy Wilson (Lead Guitar) her sister is still considered one of the best woman guitar players, who has inspired generations of young ladies to play. Heart ,Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame. Up there with Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac Three time Hall of Famer. There are rock stars in the hall of fame and then there are... #Legends
2 sister that can rock & I think they are the most under appreciated bands ever!

Heart "Dream Boat Annie". I think I was in High School in the 70's the first time. ❤ Heart.
Gotta look for some of their live performances. One of those bands that sound as good live as the studio version, without lip-syncing it. Lot of good energy on stage!
I was in the Air Force checking out really high end stereo equipment I couldn't afford, and the salesman put on the Dreamboat Annie album. (1975) The music and the Macintosh equipment blew me away!
Nancy Wilson is perhaps the most underrated guitarist in all of rock. She absolutely rocks!!
HEART! Got to see live video to see Nancy on guitar! Remember Heart as far back as I can remember music. 50+ years and still touring. They broke down the barriers for Women in Rock. In the 70’s Sisters, Ann and Nancy fought sexism in the male dominated industry and won BIG TIME!
Crazy on you is about living life during the Vietnam War (early 70’s); all you can do to forget the stress of life is to go crazy on each other at night.
You got it right, it came out in the 70s. This was their first album. Ann Wilson and her sis Nancy on the right. By the way, Nancy played acoustic guitar for the intro on the song and the rest of the song. Glad u liked it.
1975 New Artist of the year, Heart is Ann and Nancy Wilson. Ann on vocals and Nancy on guitar.
Chris
Never seen anyone sit so still while listening to heart
Heart did their first US tour pushing this album "Dreamboat Annie" in 1975. They went from virtually unknown to major rock stars with tour. They we're the first female lead hard rock band to go big. Ann Wilson has been called the female Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin). Nancy's guitar intro is quite complex to replicate as she used some unique chords to create that sound. If you haven't yet, you should really listen to the entire album.
This has always been a big favorite of mine. Enjoy more Heart!
First time I heard it was Live at a show in town where they always use to play every year. They were my babysitters when I was a kid and I'd go listen to them any chance I got. Most people here Heart and think about this song or others, I think Best babysitters who made the Best English Muffin Pizzas EVER. :)
Some of their old acoustics are spellbinding. "Dog and Butterfly" is worth a listen.
"Alone" really showcases Ann Wilson's spectacular vocals. That would be a great one for a reaction video.
Yes.
Saw them do this live at the Kentucky State Fair in 1977 or 1978...outdoors, with a storm on the horizon. Incredible iconic image if you were there.
Welcome aboard! Two ladies, that really know how to ROCK.
I grew up listening to the music of Ann and Nancy Wilson. Ann's voice is magnificent with incredible range, probably the best vocalist in rock history. The 1960s and 1970s (the best two decades of music ever) featured a lot of acoustic music.
First time I heard this- mid 70’s....driving to Charlottesville from Philly for grad school. Coming out of the Harbor Tunnel in Baltimore.....listening on the car radio.....got the album in C- Ville when I got there.
Cant go wrong with Heart❤. Saw them in concert when I was in high school. They are fabulous. You really need to do Magic Man.
I was kinda late to the party. I didn't hear Heart until I was a teenager (early 80s) and WOW. Ann Wilson's vocals flat out floored me. It was the only time that I had fallen in... ...well, lust (I was a teenager, after all) based on voice alone. Tenderness and power, brassy and demure. The complete package.
Sushi you must watch the live version of "Crazy On You". Nancy Wilson's opening guitar solo is a must watch and listen.
Lead singer is (brunette) Ann Wilson. Guitarist/vocals is sister Nancy Wilson.
The greatest female rock band in history.
70s and 80s rock and country, was a special time for music lyrics and for growing the music everyone did everyone tries to sing and duplicate today. Just seems like they had the soul in the spirit in the music back then. There are a few good artists today but not very many great ones. 70s and 80s musicians we're really connected to there audience.
Heart's track *"Barracuda"* is a real rocker...🎶🎸🥁
Nope
@@DENVEROUTDOORMAN ~ Maybe not to you. But many others disagree...
real music, real voices, real instruments.
These shows like the Voice hold this song in very high regard- and are incredibly impressed if a modern singer can really pull these vocals off. They even warn contestants that it's a song that you better be 100% committed to bc there's no middle ground- like Whitney or Aretha songs
Crazy On you came out in August of 1975 the summer I graduated Highschool. I remember it well as these were the first women since Grace Slick that could really rock in my opinion.
Ok - nice you appreciate Heart - this was a big hit in 1976 along with Magic Man - Ann & Nancy Wilson were pioneers for women rockers - the biggest hard rock band fronted by women (and sisters). Ann (brunette) had I believe over 3 octaves singing range - Nancy (blonde) is a top lead guitarist/ singer. They have one of the longest active careers in music - from 73 to present (main members) - keep exploring rock - tons of talent - good reaction!
Kinda Karma when Elton wrote Pinball Wizard, a line was, "has such a subtle wrist" Nancy Wilson had/has such a subtle wrist, so fluid. (Not forgetting all your Octaves Annie)
The Black Haired girl (Anne Wilson) was the singer and the Blonde(Nancy Wilson) was one of the Guitarists.
Lady rockers killed it in the 70's and 80's heart, Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, Lita Ford, Grace slick, bonnie Tyler, annie Lennox I know theres a lot more but that should get ya started. Love the reactions BTW
You forgot the beautiful, prolific, Stevie Nicks...
@@Deborahtunes anlong with her partner in crime Cheistine McVie
@@ronford4609 ~ Christine McVie is good. But certainly not the prolific songwriter as Ms. Nicks. And a much lower profile. But I believe Christine likes it that way...
Grace was 60s and you left out the most soulful, bluesy Janis Joplin. Can't leave her out.
How could you leave out Linda Ronstadt? Blue Bayou .. Long Long Time ... Desperado
Saw them in concert. They were incredible.
Big band when I was in high school, St Louis, MO. Though we’re played a lot on rock stations in the 70’s their main popularity was in 80’s.
By the way this song came out in mid 70’s
This classic rock song helps bring to mind slow summer days detassling corn in the 70’s
I used to ride my bike or roller skate around the neighborhood blaring this song. Lol. I loved it alot when I was in my early teens.
I agree with the others commenting about Heart's tribute to Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven. Another great live performance to react to is Janis Joplin singing Ball and Chain at the Monterrey Pop festival back in 1967. This festival made both Janis and Jimi Hendrix stars based on their insane performances.
Heat was my first concert I ever went to I loved it was heart and tears for fear
It was in the seventies. I saw Heart live at Greensboro Coliseum and they were breathtaking. Keep in mind Ann and Nancy Wilson are sisters and Nancy Wilson was one of the first female lead guitars in an era dominated by males.
‘75-‘76 I was a sophomore in college when this was playing on the radio. Magic Man was the first of theirs that I heard. My roommate and I would play it over and over in our dorm room, singing to it at the top of our lungs and probably drove those around us crazy! Also, Dreamboat Annie, Dog and Butterfly, and Alone are softer songs of theirs that are also really great. The 60s and 70s were an amazing era musically. The musical tapestry was so rich, it’s amazing to look back on it now and realize that we had so much wonderful and varied music packed into such a short timeframe.
Every time my husband and I went out, we had Heart on in the car. It was also a favorite for road trips.
Thats greatness..The Wilson Sisters..Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
The Wilson Sisters: Queens of Rock and Roll
Heart-Alone. You'll like this one.
I remember getting in debates and discussions over the best female voices in rock and pop and similar genres like that..... to many of us it was Ann Wilson, Grace Slick ( white rabbit ) Whitney Houston , Linda Perry from 4 Non Blondes ( What’s Up ), Aretha Franklin...... other ladies have great or sweet voices but these could really belt it out.
Best women’s band ever 😉👌👌👌and one of the greatest band ever also in my time heart was insanely popular never get tired to listen to them 🥰✌️✌️
Released in 1976 as a single, but recorded in 1975 and the album was released in 1975.
I didn’t see anyone mention HEADPHONES or a good stereo. Ol school rock should be heard the way it was intended. The bass is part of classic rock and you are kinna robbing yourself from the full experience. Glad you found Heart, they made BIG waves in the 70’s!!!
Yes! I just posted the same comment. She’s missing the drums and slinky stacked symbols (not sure what they’re called) in the beginning on this lame, thin recording.
Nope it was meant to be heard on ancient record players!!!
@@marysella3836 nope not missing anything don't be pompous
@@marysella3836 The audio track sounds like it's in mono instead of stereo, which washes out the music quite a bit, it would sound ten times better if both channels of the stereo had been passed through to this video, but they're combined into one, so a lot is lost
They were real rock. Most women (except Janis Joplin and a few others) were basically told don't bother by the record labels. These two are some badass talented maestros! This sounds light hearted but read the words. Wow!
A 1975 song. I recall one Christmas my sister, brother and I got a modest cassette recorder from our grandmother along with several cassette tape albums. This album was among the albums we got with the presents. I would have been 12 that Christmas. I remember listening to the song for the first time on Christmas morning. My brother and sister were the ones that picked all the albums, which initially annoyed me that they hadn't asked me to make a recommendation or two, but I very much loved all of the music they chose including this one. Ann Wilson (Brunette) is primarily the lead singer, Nancy Wilson plays acoustic guitar on this one. My favorite of Heart's songs is Barracuda. (I like your hair here Sushi) How did you get the name Sushi, is there a story there?
It’s a scheme you have not seen the video of this ,the guitar is played by a female named Nancy Wilson who is also th singers sister Ann and this song came out I believe in 1977.
Heart is a rock band with some folk influence. Lead vocalist Anne (the brunette) is arguably the best female rock vocalist of all time, and her sister Nancy (the blonde) is an amazing vocalist in her own right, as well as a talented guitarist -- she's the one playing the acoustic intro to the song. Their catalog is, like that of Led Zeppelin, varied and eclectic, ranging from rockers to ballads, and much in between. In fact they were heavily influenced by Zeppelin. Check out: Mistral Wind, Magic Man, Barracuda, Dog and Butterfly (and others -- you really can't go wrong, particularly with their pre-80s music).
Heart came out in the mid 70's. They first made it big in Canada.
They have some really good tunes , Magic Man , Barracuda , Dog and Butterfly , Love you like Music etc...
Ann (the singer) is the best female Rock singer ever !
Ann's voice is a national treasure
two of my favorite female singers
They ended up owning a recording studio in the 90s that recorded so many famous and then became famous grunge bands, Johnny Cash Elton John and too many to name.
I remember hearing it on the radio with my girlfriend at the in the summer of1978. It was her favorite group.
70's. Ann Wilson is one of the very best female rock singers ever
Came out in 1975. Heart had a different sound. They became very popular for Rock in the 70 and 80's. They even produced songs in the 90's. Checkout Desire walks on. Great song.
Saw them in 1981 at the Aloha Stadium in Hawaii they put on awesome show
Came out in the late 70s. Heart is a hall of fame rock band
Someone may have already suggested but Heart - Alone (live acoustic) is outstanding.
I heard this in 1976 a few days after it was released in the US. I was in high school and working part time in the dietary department of a local hospital when a co-worker (also in high school) came in with the album in hand. This kid NEVER talked. He was so shy you could barely get him to say hello or tell you his name but when he walked in with the album he could not stop talking. He fell immediately in love with Ann and Nancy Wilson and could not stop raving about the album. After work we all went to his house and listened and I’ve been in love with this band ever since. I purchased it the next and that was only because the stores were closed by the time I heard it the first time. I was actually looking for a reaction to “Dreamboat Annie” (it is on the album in some form 3 times, the 2nd time is the full and best version) when I saw your thumbnail. I love your reactions so did not pay close attention to the fact that you were reviewing Crazy on You. It is a great song and shows one side of their spectrum. Dreamboat Annie is a mellow, comforting song that is at the other end of their spectrum. The first time I saw them in concert was in Minnesota in 1977. The last time I saw them was just a few years ago in California. They are still awesome.
The acoustic guitar is being played by Nancy Wilson (the blonde) and the vocals are from her sister, Ann Wilson. From this album you should review Dreamboat Annie as noted above and then Magic Man which is drawn from Ann’s true life love affair and telling her mother she was moving to Canada with the guy (who played guitar in the band at that time). They put out Barracuda in 1977 which is probably my favorite song of theirs. It’s a banger and Ann’s vocals prove she is one of the top 2 or 3 female rock vocalists of all time. There is a reason they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.
The album dream boat annie came out in 1975 they rock and have mellow songs lots of albums still playing now HALL Of Fame MEMBERS
This is 2 sisters leading the band if u dont know. Anne and Nancy Wilson.
A great band, also in the Rock and roll Hall of Fame. Nice to see you doing a classic 👍. Hugs Sushi.
The opening guitar solo was Nancy Wilson playing.
I heard this song very young my sister really got me interested in this band and I thank her for that. I love this band sisters with so much talent Ann with her vocals (best female voice in rock), and Nancy with her guitar playing ugh love them. this song was in 1975 and was one of many hit songs for them.
