Barry is the oldest, then you have the fraternal twins Robin and Maurice. Then there’s the younger brother Andy who sadly passed away in the 1980s. Andy looked a lot like Barry and also had Barry’s falsetto voice.
Barry calls Andy as younger twin. If Andy didn't die in 1988, he would have joined into his brothers' group as Fourth Bee Gee. Andy did joined them at some of their concert stops. I think that was the plan to make trio into a quartet. Sadly, Andy was battling his demons of addiction.
Barry, in a fairly recent interview, wondered what all the fuss was about with the high notes. I don't know where he was emotionally back then, but you could picture him meaning every word of that today.
Barry is the oldest Maurice (now passed) and Robin (now passed) were twins. Andy their youngest brother died of heart infection at the age of 30 in 1988. Only Barry left now out of the 4 of them. Their impact on music was and is massive. Barry changed his way of singing when he found out the higher ranges were easier for him. That opened up a huge gap in the market. The rest is history. The singers they have wrote songs for is huge.

Actually they are from the Isle of Man. They moved to 'Australia when they were young fellows. Relatively speaking they spent very little of their lives in Oz. Of course the Aussies love to claim them because they are very insecure people.

Barry Gibb even recorded with the great Barbara Streisand, writing the song Guilty for their duet. I was not a big fan of disco and overlooked BeeGees back in the day. But listening to them now, I hear rhythm and blues in their sound along with disco, particularly on this song. They remind me of a group I liked from early 70s called Stylistics. They had a guy who did the high falsetto which can be heard on a song like Betcha By Golly Wow

I was not a big fan of disco and overlooked BeeGees back in the day. But listening to them now, I hear rhythm and blues in their sound along with disco, particularly on this song. They remind me of a group I liked from early 70s called Stylistics. They had a guy who did the high falsetto which can be heard on a song like Betcha By Golly Wow
