A Whiter Shade of Pale is THE iconic song from the sixties for me. Gary Brooker's big boot in the foreground of the original video. Then, when I discovered the Denmark concert where the song was treated like a sacred piece. Well, that's when I knew that A Whiter Shade of Pale was a classical piece of music. RIP Gary Brooker. You were one of a kind.
It's so enjoyable to watch someone young appreciate the music of my youth. 1967. I had just finished my first graduate degree and started my professional life. This song was one of many of the time that left us speechless. The beginning of rock and roll and its early years was a magical time.
Did he really? I saw a documentary about Lennon's portable juke box. I would really love to know about this as Lennon's "Strawberry Fields" and Brooker's "A Whiter Shade of Pale" are at the top of my "Desert Island Disks" list. A "Rolls" provides a smooth ride but smooth enough for a turntable? Wow!
Basically the tune of this piece was written by Johann Sebastian Bach in the early 1700’s, and rearranged in the 1800’s so that it could be played by a single violin on the G string, hence the name “Air on a G String”. Fantastic that this music still has such appeal!
WHITER SHADE OF PALE and NIGHTS IN WHITE SATIN.....best songs ever written.I prefer this one.....just a little bit.Because of Gary Brooker's incredible voice.Justin Hayward's voice is more romantic, and Mr.Brooker is a real DYNAMITE 👍👍👍👍👍
Find the old version of this from the 60's to understand just how good this live orchestral version is. Brooker's voice is sounding so good and the arrangement is just superb.
60's and 70's music was the greatest. Take as much of it as you can listen to... It all tells a story of what kids and teenagers the things that where going on... on the planet..
With today's loss of Gary, I've been checking out his music and stumbled on your review. This is a beautiful live version of this and have seen it many times. Thank you for your passion for great music. It truly shows. RIP Gary.
Every person on that stage killed it but shout out to the person who mixed this. That is a lot of mic to bring into perfect balance and they nailed it. You can clearly hear everything that is going on and it all sounds great together
It has always amazed me that this physically small country that I have always called home, consistently produces much of the world’s finest music. Songs like this and many others, have always proved my point.
I come from one of the largest nations on the planet, which has produced thousands and thousands of musicians, writing hits known the worldwide... And just like you, I had nothing to do with it either... Get over yourself...shut up and enjoy the music.
RIP Gary. 😢 You have been a part of my life since I was 12 and I first heard this amazing song. And you shall remain a part of my life until they spread my ashes.
Over 70 microphones were used with every member of the choir having their own mike and every instrument being close miked. This was highly unusual---orchestras and choirs would normally have a few overhead mikes. It was recorded on 100 channels of sound. At one of the rehearsals the bass player asked if he could hear more cello in his monitor and the engineer said "sure, which one?" Attention to detail was unbelievable. Was it worth it? You bet it was.
I enjoyed your reaction. You have a ear for good music. I feel for the people out there who are closed-minded to certain music. This was a masterpiece, done way better than the original in the sixties which had no orchestra or chorus. Even his voice improved.
What a fantastic song and voice! I was fortunate enough to not only hear Gary Brooker sing Whiter Shade of Pale live when he toured with Ringo Starr’s All Star Band but I also had the privilege to meet him backstage before the show. Great memories!
His voice is great, let's not forget his piano playing is spot on, this is better than the recorded version, I like you love the orchestra is rarely used in music now, try some ELO songs. I'm pleased you enjoyed this I did aswell. Thank you 🏴 🇬🇧 🌹🌹

Oh surely not. But I just loved the musical back and forth between our two countries, and others. What a time!
These guy were around about the same time as the Beatles, in fact, I believe this song was written in 1966?
Majestic! The perfect word Sir!
RIP Gary Brooker. Thank you for the music.
I was 4 when it released...
Her closed eyes and the smile on her face says it all. Doesn't matter that it's 50+ years since this amazing man first sang this haunting song.
It gets better each time I hear it. That was a true gift from God.
Amazing Im 74 years old ,I was 19 years old in 1967,it's amazing his voice sounds just like it did in the sixties,Amazing!
Much Luv to you!!!! Great reaction Great Band!!
This was John Lennon's favorite song. He would play it constantly on his turntable in the back of his Rolls Royce...
Wow!
@@michaelmisanthrope It's true. He loved it.
Peter Frampton also cited this as, "the most perfect song recorded."
Who is he? And nobody had a turntable in the back of a moving car.Ok, Boomer.
@@erewhon751 Who is John Lennon? OK Zoomer.
This song was THE song of "The Summer Of Love" 1967. You could hear it blasting out of every transistor radio.
My transistor radio perched on my Dad's dashboard crusin the driven-in Oh my
And it was quite long, so you got more for your money in the jukebox
Sounds like....pure joy!
True rock knows no boundaries. After 60 years, I’m still in awe of good rock.
Thing is that is not "rock".
My favorite version, beautiful place, beautiful performance
Basically the tune of this piece was written by Johann Sebastian Bach in the early 1700’s, and rearranged in the 1800’s so that it could be played by a single violin on the G string, hence the name “Air on a G String”. Fantastic that this music still has such appeal!
If you like this song, then you will love '' Nights in white satin'' by the moody blues !
Breeeathe deep the gathering gloom Nuff said!!
Find the old version of this from the 60's to understand just how good this live orchestral version is. Brooker's voice is sounding so good and the arrangement is just superb.
The perfect slow dance song. I've always loved this song. It almost makes me cry
Almost - It touches me to my very soul and will be my funeral music
60's and 70's music was the greatest. Take as much of it as you can listen to... It all tells a story of what kids and teenagers the things that where going on... on the planet..
Beautiful reaction!
Nice to see the younger generation interested in our music of old. So happy to have lived through this period of music. It was the best!
With today's loss of Gary, I've been checking out his music and stumbled on your review. This is a beautiful live version of this and have seen it many times. Thank you for your passion for great music. It truly shows. RIP Gary.
This is one of my favorite performances. I love watching people, especially young people react to it. Wonderful!!!
Makes me want to get my Procol Harum album out.
Welcome to the 70s Rogue....love your heartfelt and authentic experiences of the music we had the privilege to grow up with.
Every person on that stage killed it but shout out to the person who mixed this. That is a lot of mic to bring into perfect balance and they nailed it. You can clearly hear everything that is going on and it all sounds great together
His voice is amazing , love this RIP Gary , such great music !
It's great watching the younger generations discover the music we grew up with and loved.
I completely agree ! ☮✌
She gives a positive review of everything, whether she likes it or not. It’s how she earns money.
Why wouldn't she give a positive review of this song.Wouldn't you? Everybody loves good singing from those who can really sing .Like him.
What a fantastic song and voice! I was fortunate enough to not only hear Gary Brooker sing Whiter Shade of Pale live when he toured with Ringo Starr’s All Star Band but I also had the privilege to meet him backstage before the show. Great memories!
One of the best musical performances i have ever heard
First i thought about all the beauty.....then came this smile. .... but then ....her heart is made of love for music and life.
His voice is great, let's not forget his piano playing is spot on, this is better than the recorded version, I like you love the orchestra is rarely used in music now, try some ELO songs. I'm pleased you enjoyed this I did aswell. Thank you 🏴 🇬🇧 🌹🌹
STRINGS ARE SO GREAT! THIS IS ALMOST THE BEST PROCOL HARUM PERFORMANCE THAT I HAVE EVER HEARD!
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING PERFORMANCE BY EVERYONE.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Top professional song ,top level for Moment ,🇮🇹🌹
From the day that song came out til today, I’ve never met someone who didn’t love it. Even one of the Beatles said it was the best song from the 60’s. But Please listen to the original version. Love the show! Very glad that they’re are people like you in the world.
I feel so privileged to have grown up as these songs were released. I was 13 when this song came out. It moved my world at 13. So many songs wrapped around my core made me who and what I am. To this day I can be transported back by so many songs but this one is special.
What a beautiful young lady. That smile lights up a room.
INCREDIBLE!!! His voice has gotten better with age like a fine wine!!!
.....I will forever love this song..it takes me back to my childhood..love you forever Gary😔❤️...R.I.P.
One if the greatest songs produced (1967) in the sexy 60s.
I have hope knowing that another generation can and does appreciate....
Absolutley loved watching you watch this. Made me feel normal!!!!
I subscribed one sentence into your reaction because of your ''low key'' approach. You didn't call us ''Fam'' or beg for likes or subscriptions. You are a breath of fresh air. Plus you enjoyed one of my favorite performances.
WOW.... What a great performance! Love you girl!
Besides you excellent reviewer and passion for music you are a magnificent looking person
What a fine singer and person, a true legend. RIP Gary!
This is the best review I have heard so far. I see and sense a natural flow of emotions and your facial expression says it all. Keep up the great reviews.
This was always the slow dancing song that the ladies just couldn’t resist. Quite often the last song of the evening and if you were lucky, the beginning of a romantic night.
🙂👍♥️🎼
I never tire of hearing this song played by this orchestra and Gary Brooks❤️ So, so Beautiful!! He made his first recording of this song when he was pretty young!! May he Rest in Peace.
