I think @powerdrivendiesel did a little while ago. It would be interesting to see. I’m not sure your see more power but you would see back pressure drop, quicker spool up and possibly lower egt
Appreciate you doing this. Been wondering if they really do add anything. Personally, I'm not interested in sound. If it makes efficiency/power it might be woth the money.
Why don't you do the dyno test before and after with the hood closed?? When you put the aftermarket intake you opened the hood but when you ran the stock intake you closed the hood. That's not a accurate
Stock intake and new intake are both fully enclosed units that draw air from in the inner fender not under the hood. I can see your point if it was an open filter system because you would be giving the new one an unfair advantage, but they are both fully enclosed filters.
I agree it didn’t. Torque numbers are hard to keep consistent on the dyno. The HP numbers are more steady. So if it picked up 20hp on a Cummins that would be roughly 40ftlbs.
I want to see the bank air horn tested. I am doubtful it will do anything much. I am sure the filter media had a bigger impact. The stock box with a K$N filter would probably yield similar results. Also it would be useful to see the graph.
Didn’t touch the tune at all. Did a run, installed it then did the second run right after. It’s probably not a noticeable difference in driving but it did pick up some HP.
319.2 WHP @578ft lbs stock
336.2 WHP @ 661 FT LBS with cold air intake
Thank God the tow mirrors were out or thing could have gone bad.
Always towin
Good video, and im glad you said "do- do" at the end. Good stuff.
Lol
Wow I really thought with a turbo or super charger that the Gaines would be almost non existent. Great to know thank you!
I was surprised as well by the results. I really didn’t think it would do much.
Awesome. I knew it would make power up top.
Thanks for the video and also great song at the end.
Very cool, can’t wait to get mine done after a few mods
Someone needs to do stock verses aftermarket exhaust manifold dyno tests

Exactly. What’s the point if it doesn’t improve performance.
love mine intake helped a lot

You're using the thin air filter as a baseline the 4" flows better.
Yup I would be using the stock one as a baseline. The video was when you just put in a cold air intake if it makes a difference.
Looks like your about to need injectors so you can hit the magical 400
So 17 hp gain. And 91 ft lb of torque. Im assuming the torque was at 1600's rpms?
where is your shop located?
Dunnville Ontario Canada
No way a cold air intake picked up almost 100fpt

There is a video on banks air horn. Lost hp slightly. Junk.
Project Farm found the K&N flowed best and filtered the worst among five tested. Junk.
I have the banks intake horn and it’s a pretty big gain. The intake you won’t be able to feel but the monster intake horn, you can feel.
Looking for a good cold air intake what do you recommend that will put more hp+ and Air flow -K&N 77- -S&B- -Jlt- ???
I like S&B they are affordable and work well. Thanks for the comment.
Id like to know when did you dyno the truck before the new intake test. Same day?
Same day. I did a run, installed the intake and ran it again. The truck never left the dyno.
@@screamindieselltd nice thanks
Anyone do this before and after on stock tune?
Next one I get I’ll make it happen.
Did you put it back on the stock tune.
Nope customer wanted it on that tune.
What tune was it on then?
@@hogie1685 it had a smarty jr on it on stage 3
how the hell do you lose over 300ft/lbs at the wheels
Say what?
@@jlbush8249 a 5.9 Cummins with a smarty jr should be making about 800lb/ft to the wheels. They make 600 stock
@@clappgen5.949 I see
I thought the samething
will it pass the emission test?
Yes it will no problem
@@screamindieselltd thank you sir!
It's CARB approved for us California guys.
Cold air intakes only work
When you can tune with it snake oil otherwise
