A young engineer joined Rolls Royce and increased the power of the V12 Merlin engine fitted to the British Spitfire fighter aircraft. If I remember correctly they increased the power by 30% by redesigning the air intake.
The supercharger, but yes, your point is valid. Sir Stanley Hooker.

Case has a new line of engines for their equipment that does not use DEF or EGR and is emissions compliant. The auto manufactures need to take a lesson. Thank goodness for people like Gale Banks.
Amazing technology is right around the corner. We're keeping our eyes on engine manufacturers. In fact, Toyota has some interesting patents regarding diesel combustion.
Those DEF manufacturers are going to be in a world of hurt.
@@shannonstebbens6992 really hope that's true.
@@JonBecker81From what I am hearing is that most of the DEF we get is coming from Russia and its made from pig urine if this is true but that's why its so expensive to buy because we don't make it here in the states . I've heard this from 2 people I know that have diesel trucks one who works at a Ford dealership and owns a Ford diesel & the other who owned a Dodge ram diesel truck that didn't have the Cummins engine but some V8 I think it was that he had some shop take all the DEF stuff off of it and he started to have all kinds of issues with it where the crank sensor went bad & it stopped running on him and he took it in to the Dodge dealership and they had a upgrade where they could use the cam sensor upgrade so it would run again because changing the crank sensor is a pain in the ass & when they went to do this upgrade they couldn't because this guy he used wiped the computer and the dealership couldn't do this upgrade so my friend had to haul his truck back home and ended up bringing it to another friend of mine who has a lift to pull the transmission out to change the crank timing sensor by the flywheel of the engine & he ended up buying the exhaust pipe and all the crap it needed to run the DEF again because this guy who working on it kept it all plus to top it off he had to buy a brand new computer for it because this hack he used wiped the computer clean so it would shut all of the DEF off for this upgrade. Once he got this expensive headache done he sold the truck to a dealership and got rid of it and said he was going to buy a Cummins because they weren't having these issues like this other diesel Dodge truck engine was having . I can't remember what or who were building these engines for Dodge but it definitely wasn't a Cummins but some foreign company . I rode in this truck and it had good power and the fuel mileage was really good but once it crashed it was a nightmare he said & very expensive to change it back to stock again and he's lucky because what he & this shop did was illegal as hell because our government doesn't want people messing with the emissions on the new diesel engines and if you get caught you can get a huge fine plus jail time but what's funny is our military diesel trucks don't have to comply with any emissions standards .
Lol dumb af needed a tune@@peteloomis8456

Adding fuel then adding air where’s the tune that’s the trifecta to power, torque and miles per gallon!
I sold banks in Coeur d'Alene Idaho for 15 years for a company called custom truck. I sold a lot of it. People ask why I said because of their engineering and because of their zero returns I had very very very very very very few in the 15 years that I had to return anything. All their products are engineered and designed I've been to their factory and plant in Azusa I've taken their certificate programs and I'll stand behind him 100% and it was so hard to speak to customers about why you needed to do a high ran intake expand your intercooler before you did a tuner etc.. Great Video!!!😊
Thanks for the kind words!
Installed the Monster Ram on my 2021 3500 dually. The engine ran smoother which was more quiet as well. The connectors were a pain to some degree to pull apart. Super pleased to have this upgrade.

Thanks for staying with us! We look forward to it 👍
Interestingly enough, Double R Diesel just released a video this week that dyno'ed the Banks Monster Ram intake vs. the stock one. It turns out a stock intake makes more power than the banks intake, UNLESS you're tuned and deleted; in which case it makes pretty decent gains.
Your correct on that statement except that Double R Diesel's truck is not deleted, just tuned. He said in that video of I recall that he is only doing emissions intact tuning now.
@@Obert106 You are correct. My apologies for misspeaking. Regardless, stock tune you're going to make less power on a Banks Monster Ram
A tune is needed for any modifications that increase airflow to the engine on any type of vehicle.
@@MikeMcCasland27 You're not using stock parts so why on earth would you use a stock tune????? Common sense ain't so common!
I looked up that channel, can’t find the video mentioning the monster ram intake. What is the title of the video that the intake is in? None of the video thumbnails mention banks that I could see.
Amen to that, I got my 2020 Ram 2500 set up with the Monster Ram and I can attest that it a the best mod for any 6.7l cummins truck.
RAM will VOID your warranty in a New York second when they see that on your truck. Ask me how I know. My truck had 1300 miles on it when I upgraded to the Banks Monster Ram intake. I took my truck to the dealer for the first oil changed and the area service manager for Ram saw it and flagged me. They made me put my truck back to stock to get my warranty back ($1200) so I did but they didn't keep their word. Still NO Warranty. So Fvck Ram, I put the Banks back on and added everything they make for a 2022 3500. I bout it all. My truck runs good and I've NEVER been back to the dealer for anything. Not even when my wife needed a new car. She wanted a Jeep but she got a C8 Corvette instead. I love my truck But I HATE Stellantis. BANKS for the WIN!!
I was wondering this myself. I'm sure so were many others.
Must be a NY thing. People do this upgrade all the time and I've never heard of anyone complain about dealer warranties.
Installing a part like that cannot void any warranty unless the part is found to be the cause for the failure. That's just the stealership trying to con you out of money. Check the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.
They violated the Magnuson Moss Act by voiding your warranty.

The best option is an emissions weight loss program for the truck. Now that Chevron Deference was tossed out by SCOTUS, the EPA can't just make crap up anymore. Let the lawsuits begin!
Chevron means next to nothing when it comes to the EPA rules. IDK why everyone thinks it's going to be 2008 all over again. What company is going to take a chance on openly developing and marketing delete hardware/software in the USA, only to hope they get lucky at a trial vs with an EPA judge?
@@jeffs2809 Uh, federal courts have just applied Loper-Bright (the decision overturning Chevron) to the Dept of Ed. EPA is surely going to have pay the piper soon.
@@jeffs2809 It's no longer an EPA judge, it's a real elected judge who doesn't defer to the agency for expertise.
@@JeremyPrattigmp2u But that's still no guarantee the judge will rule against the epa rules. There's still the expense involved, which in most cases, will favor the government lawyers over the companies or individuals.

You guys are awesome and amazing good job
I'm a physicist, and I LOVE diesel engines because the physics is just so fascinating! I went to automechanic school once upon a time and am basically a car hobbyist and do repairs for myself and my family. I have never owned a diesel, but man, you guys are sure getting me into diesels!!!
Just ordered mine!
I have this exact Monster Ram on my two 6.7 Cummins. ABSOLUTELY the single best upgrade.... ESPECIALLY for a stock engine.
I also have the equivalent on mytwo 5.9 pickups. Heater grid is not an issue there, but improves spool-up and mpg even more than for the 6.7 engines.
PS, it does not increase HP or air flow, ie CFM. It broadens the power band by spooling the turbo faster & sooner. The head limits the air flow, so this increases the volume of air, because it's compressed air.
Bottom line; it literally makes a noticeable improvement.
Thanks for the share 👍
I added the 5" Monster Exhaust, Pedal Monster w/ iDash, Monster Air box (oiled), and Banks' intercooler tubes. I noticed much better power when pulling my 5th wheel. BTW, the Monster Exhaust eliminates the useless muffler which you don't need, the DPF acts as a muffler. The truck is very quite except for the cool sound of the turbo.
Are you sure about your statements? Banks talks about air density, not CFM. Do you have flowbench numbers to back up what you say?
@@jameseroh6544 I used the hillbilly method. I towed 19,000 lbs over the Malad Summit bone stock and then again after installing the Monster Ram. The truck didn't struggle like it did bone stock. Amazing how being able to breathe helped it along.
You can just feel the power emanating from that monster intake😅 Gale Banks has had a lot of practice over the decades 😉
My 12v cummins, I just installed a twin ram and it's really worth the money. Banks knows his stuff!
I installed mine on my 2014 cummins over the 4th of July weekend and I love it! Just be sure to follow the directions to the letter. Or have someone like Dave here do it for you. :-)
Excellent Dave! Do they sell these to Australia? You know we pay DOUBLE the price for fuel than you guys? It sux ass!

I'm a huge fan of Gale Banks, he's a gem of a person👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Sadly Banks does not make a cold air intake for my 2024 GMC SIERRA-3500-HD 6-6L-GAS. I had to go with the S&B. But it fit like a glove and the install instructions were spot on. I like Banks a lot, just wish they had more products.
We don't offer one yet. We are still developing and testing the Ram Air intake and the Derringer for the 2024+ L5P Duramax. The 2024+ L5P Duramax trucks have new updates for emissions regulations and new computer systems. Because of these changes, they are even more sensitive to any major changes like air flow rate and temp. We must work with these changes, and unfortunately, that has forced us to change harness and programming on the MAF module that is included with the Ram Air intake. It's coming this year.
You have a '24 model truck.....
What would happen is you added the dimpled piston with what Banks does??? I love this channel!!
Speed of Air pistons, I agree!
Great video ! i Definitely agree !!! i Was Wondering if it was 50 state approved.
Since i Live in the Greatest nanny state of all states ( California ). if you change anything from stock - Prepare to Fight with the Smog Check Guy unless You Have Paperwork in Hand or that Tag on that Part. Very happy they Put that 50 state approved tag on that unit !!! Really helps with the " Smog Police "
Banks is on top of all that CARB nonsense. 👍🏼
I installed mine 3 years ago. I have had no problem passing Utah emissions. Banks provides the CARB compliance number on a sticker. The same sticker Dave stuck on the Monster Ram in the video. Also, if you have an issue with the emissions guy, Banks will go to bat for you to educate them.
It is, Banks is based in So Cal and works with CARB to ensure it's CARB approved.

I put A monster ram on my 2017 ram 6.7 as a precautionary measure because of the heater grid issue and it was amazing. I towed a loaded trailer 10,000 lbs plus 2,000 pounds in the bed from the west coast 1500 miles over US 40 and it felt like I was empty. The power increase was unbelievable everything else was stock non deleted.
🔥🔥🔥I have all the banks stuff in my TJ
I deleted, tuned and added a complete HSP diesel performance system to my 14 LML Duramax plus 5” exhaust, PPE 3 1/2” down pipe and 165 lift pump. Gained tons of horsepower major increase in MPG and most of all peace of mind. No more egr, no other bull crap to ruin an engine.
Not “50 state compliant” but I refuse to neuter AND cut short the life of my truck.
i thank god for making fellas like gale banks and dave
Had my 2014 6.7L with 78,000 miles changed over to the Monster Ram. The first thing I noticed was at idle the engine was breathing. I bought the truck used and had always thought it sounded like it was gasping for air at idle. My mechanic didn't want me to spend this much money, but after he installed and saw the difference on my engine, he is now pushing the Banks system. And he said the factory grid heater bolts was still tight, but the carbon build up was really bad.
Gale Banks is an extremely intelligent man and probably the best spokesperson his company could have.

Can you please expand on this Monster Ram. Im told that unless you have an EPA complinace tune in addition, that you dont get much added benefit of the Monster Ram Intake. Would it be possible to dino that to confirm. Im definitely interested in that intake.
You might consider the Derringer from Banks.
Notice the 90 degree angle on the Monster Ram - it's shaped like that so as to keep the air flow performance, whilst allowing for such a angle of direction change. Clearly designed by someone with knowledge of fluid dynamics! 👍
I love mine and can tell a Big difference, and I can hear the air when I give it the throttle! I also did another thing that will make my engine last and no longer need the def, and I went with a 5" exhaust with no restrictions from front to back!

I’d love to see you and banks have a conversation
Dave and his crew are HI-QUALITY Technicians!
I work at a dealership. One of the only trucks I’ve seen with the monster ram, the heater element exploded and sent porcelain through the engine.
I pray they put back the emissions for legal purposes. Once my 5th gen is out of warranty I’m adding the Monster ram and deleting all that junk!
I don't even own a truck let alone one of these trucks and I'm still watching this lol
I am confused: You show the old intake plenum off the truck, which the grid heater is part of. So what did you install for a plenum? Glacier Diesel's?
1. Condition
2. Cause
3. Put a motor in
4. Confirm
All that carbon build up will come right back as long as the egr is functional.
Pulling the front wheels off of lifted trucks is the tactic I've used to get the thing low enough to work on.
Don't forget to install the special EGR gasket. 😉
5.9 with all banks upgrades best engine ever made.
Not so much the CFM, but maintaining the air density. Best achieved using the banks intercooler
Look inside the new Banks monster ram, nice and smooth, even roughly finished reduces air flow capacity. Dave I had an early 5.9 Cummins, about 1987 not in a truck but in a Massey Combine, inter cooled, that was rated at 220 engine horsepower. I don't think it had a grid heater. Let me tell you this, it made amazing power for sure. Full tank of corn , running 6.5mph in 140 bushe to the acre corn unloading on the go with a 6 row 30 inch centers corn head. In extremely cold weather I had to give it a little shot of WD 40 before starting, that Cummins would come to life Dave. Massey Combine went into receivership in early 1988 if I remember correctly. Oliver designed the machine but never produced 1 machine, they were in receivership 1985 or 1986. Now they make a bit bigger Cummins for the Dodge Ram I see from your videos. Clean air supply is critical for any engine to efficient and have long life. I was involved with pre cleaners for combust air back when the IH 400 series engines were new,it was dryer than a popcorn fart, the soil was exposed all winter without much snow or rain,it was a dust cloud we worked in, visibility was made 20 yards. About 5 hours and the air filter element meter was showing clogged filter. A new outer element was $90 man back in 1970 ! It had an inner safety element for a safety. The beginning of disposable air filters,if you tried to blow out with air you put a hole in it ! Block man from IH was cool to talk with and learn how to from. His exact words, don't ever remove the outer element without a new replacement, the seals on the ends of the element are designed to seal 1 time. Looking at the indentations he was correct, I saw several engines being tore down because of dirt in the engine, the rings go first, next it's hard starting in hot weather. These tractors were still under warranty when this happened. Cutting corners cost the owner the warranty claim.
I want to see us airforce diesel upgrades to the ram.
Have a Gale Banks power intake on my ecodiesel, made that much more torquey and the fuel economy is around 26 mpg average, 31-32 on the hwy.
On lifted trucks, instead of letting the air out of the tires and potentially damaging the tires I just take the front wheels off since it's already get up on the hoist. It takes 5 minutes to just remove the front wheels, than you can drop the truck almost right down to the rotors.
I would love to see how you would build a street LS to live while being turned up to about 500 HP. I trust your team, but not many others make that particular cut. PLEASE and Thank You
Would you mind showing or explaining specifically how you loosened and retorqued the #5 & 6 fuel lines as well as how you torqued the right rear (from driver’s position - top left from mechanic’s perspective) bolt attaching the intake to the plenum?
Dave you said the first thing you’d do with a new truck is preventative maintenance like the Banks monster air ram, big what about deleting the emissions stuff from a diesel? Do you recommend that?
What does Cummins have against cylinder #6? The bolt of death and a cooling issue for #6.
