Glenfiddich 18 was my first ever major whisky purchase, I paid $20AUD to attend a Glenfiddich tasting which pretty much tasted their whole range. I’m now flying to Scotland next week and their distillery is one of my major stops
Always good to see Glenfiddich tasted. Both Glenfiddich 12, 14, and 18 are always stocked in my collection. I was fortunate to try a dram of Glenfiddich 30 at the Distillery this past May. It was like tasting the tears of joy shed by the most elegant of angels.
Wayward Whiskey is from Venus Spirits in Santa Cruz, about an hour south of where I live, It's a really cool location near the beach BUT the whiskies need more time in barrel which seems to be a common theme with many California whiskies.
I'm a Scotch student pilot and picked this one up a few weeks ago because I'm really digging the sherry casks. This was not inexpensive but I really enjoyed it. My only comment is, I've found I like other sherry casks at much lower prices that come across much better for me. My benchmark is Abunad'h, only bottle I've re-stocked to date after about 20 different Scotch bottles and many hours in your vault picking up brain food from you guys.
I can see Daniel is developing the mooch mind shield, well done! Rex, we don't really blame you, after all you were out of rotation long enough to lose a little off your mooch. And you are correct about the circle of whiskey, you just keep evolving and yes you circle back.
I've been tossing around the idea of sending a bottle of Wayward Whiskey to the vault. Looks like I hesitated for too long! Glad it eventually grew on you guys.
I watch, and sip, and munch . Homemade shine(charred and flavoured) and homemade chili. I gave a bottle of the 12 to a friend today for his birthday, maybe I should have given the 18 instead...🤔 next time I'll give him the 18 or at least the 15. Great video guys..🥃
Well you just fucked the finish of glenmorangie that I have been enjoying and I still have just under half a glass to finish 😂it's subtle but it definitely is there. Kinda like i threw up and didn't have a toothbrush near me so the throw up taste softened but was still coating my tounge 🤢😂
Hey legends. I was watching an episode you made last year and i spotted a bottle of willett pot still bourbon in the background. I'd love to see a review of that whiskey before i head out and buy it. Cheers from Australia!
Picked a bottle at 55 eur, it's kinda cheap. Don't expect too much, so probably won't be disappointed. 21 and 26 demand 3-figures tho, curious to try but I doubt they are worth the price, so perhaps I'll have to skip them. Luckily there's plenty of quality affordable cask strength stuff out there)
I finally bought a bottle of Stranahans single malt whiskey and would love to hear you compare it to a single malt scotch of similar style! How different is it to scotch? Go tribe!! Thanks
I remember tasting Wayward Whiskey several years ago at the Venus Spirits tasting room. It had that new wood funk. I was not impressed. May give it another taste at the distillery or a local cocktail bar that has a Wayward flight. I can't see it being worth the $50 a bottle just for nice.
Bottle says "Michael Davis" written in ink. That Magnificent Bastard beat me to sending them a Wayward! I've got the Single Malt and a Rye from Venus in my collection.
Ever thought of starting a third UA-cam channel devoted to non-whisk(e)y-related rant outtakes? You know most of us would subscribe to it (we're a pretty sad bunch).
For some reason... that malty, pear-ish fruity smell of Glenfiddich 12 almost always felt nauseating...Not that I don't like fruity and malty notes, it's just the way that they're presented in fiddich 12 felt somehow off to me...
So we now find that Rex's palette isn't as rich as it could be, thanks to his "moral support"- so perhaps you should invite his wife on, who is more familiar with world views of smell....
I think Roy described the 18 best. "It's the baked potato of whisky." Yeah it'll feed ya but... I say this being a total newcomer to whisky. This was one of my 1st and was NOT impressed. I was like what are you 2 drinking cause that doesn't sound anything like Glenfiddich 18??? Yeah yeah I know all taste are subjective... Stay magnificent you bastards!
last bar I went to gave me a Dewers White Label that had a pour spout and had been on the shelf for over a year... and called it "Top Shelf"... was NOT worth the $8 a shot they charged me.
Just so you know, you are pronouncing it wrong. And just so you know how I know that you are pronouncing wrong is because I contacted The Distillery. The proper pronunciation is Glenn-Fid-Och. The OCH is pronounced like Loch ness monster. Your welcome.

Glenfiddich 18 literally my favorite Scotch EVER

Erik Wait their gin and aquavit are phenomenal
@@MrDeschainRoland AGREED. And I've not been a fan of gin until I did their tasting flight.
Would have really liked to have seen the 18 compared to the Glenfiddich 12, 15, & 21.

which is a great 18 y/o whiskey / bourbon ? 1st choice 2nd choice and 3rd choice. Thanks for this informative video!
I don't mind the long videos/ranting. I look forward to these every night. Ramble on, guys.

I've been eyeing a Glenfiddich Age of Discovery Bourbon (the blue one) for a while. Just can't bring myself to drop $150 for 40%
1:47 Glenfiddich was my gateway drug. I actually think the 15 is better than the 18 though.
Huzzah! I made it to the comment section. Huge props for getting my name right! Everyone drops the S in my first name. Y'all the best. Cheers!
Wow this is so true about going back to lighter whisk(e)y. Even with budget stuff.
Daniel drinking that wayward was the whisky equivalent of monty paythons I'm not dead yet bit in holy grail.
Glenfiddich 18 single malt,2020 right now at Lockdown hell yeah!
Just picked up a Glenfiddich 18 in the midst of an Islay kick for something different - very nice - to me it’s all brown sugar and honey.
Easy drinking! Love everything about Glenfiddich! Cheers
The people demand a Glenfiddich 12 comparison!
And while you are downstairs take the Glenfiddich 25 Rare Oak as well!!!
Whilst watching this.
Im enjoying the 12,14, rich oak,15, and the 18. Its a good day
Always get that "throw up"-note in the Glenmorangie and the budget Nikka

Love the Green Spot seen over Rex’s shoulder. Love Green Spot!
What ever happened to the grand mooch necklace? Will it ever make a reappearance? 😁
Don't encourage him. The mooch necklace is almost as annoying as the sommelier medallion is pompous.
I'm not sure why but the Glenfiddich 12 was one of the least favorite I've had. Maybe I'll give the 18 a chance since it's pretty cheap
Just picked up a bottle on vacation for $54 sounds like I’m going to like it.
The Glenfiddich 26 Year Excellence was very good as well. Have you tried it?
Is that a bottle of J. Henry I see on the back shelf?

Missed mooch opportunity; Daniel said he had the burning kit downstairs.... should have suggest he get it, then while down there... grab the bottle!
Glenfiddich 18 vs Highland Park 18... I haven't tried either... which should I try first?
personally, the Highland park
Try the glendronach 12 , I like both but glendronach 12 better

Intro music please!
Wayward whiskey, who was it from???? great show guys.

Rex is not only our esteemed Whisky Mooch, but he’s also a gosh-dang Whisky Ninja! 🥋4:02
Review demands if it is good or bad...
Glenfiddich 18 is 40% here in the philippines.
Daniel gives some very specific tasting notes a lot of the time. Baby vomit is a new one.
Bryan Lushbough the Dalmore guy references baby sick quite a bit in his tasting notes.
@@robsalvv5853 Richard Paterson? I'll have a look see if I can find a reference!
@@bryanlushbough659 when he talks about the new make spirit...
You guys need to have a weekly raffle and select a person to hang out and drink with you guys 🤙🏻
Me personally. I like 18 the most compared to other years.
4:04 Woah
Compared an 18yr to a 3yr.????🤔
Just stop teasing us already! When will you guys going to review those SMWS at the back!!
Wun Tun I just had to join so I could try them myself. 😄
Rex Showing the Mooch Ninja move's but not so good on the jedi knight mind control. Go and get the whisky.
I see the bottle of Wyoming Whiskey Statesman in the background that I sent!! 😉
I have to buy my bottles my self.
But nevertheless good work guy's, you deserve it!
Do a side by side with Glenlivet 18. One of my favourite non-Islay official bottlings.
Little glitch in the intro, yall probably already noticed though

FINALLY A SCOTCH
Nice
The dreaded “downstairs journey” to get another bottle is literally one story. It’s hardly a trek into the bowels of Mordor...

Double take intro music
Nice whiskey
the glenfidich 12 is behind you lol you can see it at the begining of the video
I wish I got free 18 year old scotch to drink at my place of employment
Good whiskey
# flashback Infinity Flask? ... eh???
Glenfiiddich 18 is 40 ABV not 43 🤪
When Daniel says it smells loke baby throw up in just gonna assume that it smells like breast milk. It's about the same thing but it sounds better.
Wayward - Proof that 3-year-old baby sick can grow on you. (May not want to trademark that...)

You missed the perfect opportunity to state that it take a, "tribe" to raise a child.
Stop giving the editor whiskey. The theme song is messed up.
You didn't "magnificent bastard" that Wayward!
Looks like "Michael Davis" written on the side of the bottle.
utter injustice to the glenfiddich.
second
first to say first
I toe music please god damn it
