One of my favourites. I think it has a lovely rich vanilla/cherry sweetness but I always add a touch of water to get that warm earthiness and oaky finish too. It's just so reliably, consistently welcoming.

Islay fan here,I agree I have to be in the mood for some heavy smoke action. When I'm not in the mood for Islay scotch my go to is the Glenfiddich Solera 15 and the Aberlour 12,both fantastic.
Have only tried it on the rocks. Was part of a sampler set along with the 12Y and 18Y and I liked this the best out of the three. Just picked up a 750ml bottle of it so looking forward to trying it neat and with a little water. Not sure when it will get opened though. Picked up a bottle of 14Y before so will probably open that first.
It’s smooth and friendly but that spiced, ginger hit you get at the end is super interesting and addictive. The 12 as more earth and grass and is bit more unrefined. I honestly like both but the 15 with its deep cherry oak and spices finish is pretty special. Also it’s pretty competitively prized in UK when on offer.
Tried this whisky just now. It tastes like cream, butter, and walnuts with plenty of oak later on. Very gentle, but also quite complex, although a lot of the notes are similar to each other, also without water. Try it without water too, I find it almost equally good that way. Better than most in the same price range, not exceptional.
I had this last night.. it was on sale, cheaper than 12 so I thought. why not :D Nose was great, woody sweet biscuits and a little smoke. On the pallet I freaked out (in a good way) i tasted gummy bears... Haribo gummy bears :D I was so surprised how smth can taste like a little bonfire some pine sap and the gummmy bears. Amazing. Dont want to say it but..smooooth. After little smoke and pine and sweet candy chocolate biscuit finish. Like you said - very good introduction to Scotch. Won't scare them away. Great stuff :) 10/10 would recommend.
Being a bourbon guy this is a scotch I enjoy. Quality without too much peat or smoke. This and The Macallan 15 fine oak are very smooth drinkers for non traditional scotch guys
I'm new to the scotch game. I've got a half bottle of this Solera left.. I've found if allow scotch or bourbon to mellow a few months after opening it gets so much better. The Solera is buttery and coats the tongue

I'm actually learning a lot by going back and watching these videos. I even got some samples myself recently to start challenging myself out of my comfort zone of Knob Creek (the whole line of em) and start trying other types of whisk(e)y...whisk(e)ies... er? lol Whiskii? Anyways, Thanks for the knowledge that I will make sure to spread in kind, paying it foward. Oh, and thanks for the like. Nice to see someone from the crew still goes back to old videos and checks on comments, even liking them :) .
I was pretty disappointed in this. It's aggressive for its ABV. All of the flavor - honey, butterscotch, cola, muted fruit - failed to mature past 'hints' as it sat on my tongue. The dryness continues after swallow and left me feeling empty, not unlike my wallet after shelling out too much for it.
I fucking love this stuff, even before I was old enough to drink it and so on my 21st birthday I bought myself a bottle and when I woke up the next morning it was gone 😂 didn’t even get to savor it
I have seen your videos where you say Glenfiddich 12 is smoky and how Bruichladdich is smoky, and I have to say it completely trashes any credibility you could ever have. Neither of those whiskies have any smoke added to them and yet you are supposed to teach classes on the subject and have the audacity to charge money for it? Shameful.
So I’m drinking this right now and I have to say I’m getting the weirdest nose from it but I love it. Soft cinnamon cereal, something like an apricot kolache, and maybe a tid bit of fudge and some spices! I love this shit

The Solera cask at the Glenfiddich distillery is a thing of beauty to view. You could drown in it, both figuratively and literally.

Solera cask aging is very interesting, especially over a long course of time.

This whiskey is really fantastic and i did try to add a couple of drops of water, it really changed and became way more intresting

I think the Bourbon cask is still my favourite but this is absolutely delicious

this was the first scotch I tried and I remember it being friendly at least for whiskey

That´s how I played the whole L.A. Noire. Needless to say it was hell of a ride.....but I felt like an alcoholic afterwards.
It's not bad, I'm definitely getting a taste of raisins, I think the 18 is worth the extra money though.
I went from 12 to 15. Not going back to 12, so 18 is next.
