Excellent tip Todd on when a player looses their swing during a round! This happened to me a few days ago and I lost my match because of it. It was a case of having the swing, loosing the swing, finding it again and then loosing it and then giving up. Thanks for the tip for finding my way out of the darkness!
You've described the changes I made precisely. I also moved my feet closer together to prevent body sway, which was causing me to hit behind the ball. I'm a senior, and the range of motion that I used to have is long gone. Don't be afraid to adjust your swing as you "mature." The swing that keeps you in the short grass is the one you want!
Closing the stance has the effect of moving the ball forward slightly (try it and see for your self). Moving the ball back in the stance at least partially mitigates that. Setting up with more weight on the lead side with the ball slightly back should improve the strike.
After some swing changes, I'm hitting my irons better than ever. Now, I've lost my swing with driver, woods, and hybrids. I've got the hooks with these distance clubs.
Hey US GOLF TV, I just watched your video and I must say that it was really informative and well-made. I was wondering if I could help you edit your videos and repurpose your long videos into highly engaging shorts? I can also make high CTR thumbnails for your channel
Allan Patrick - New Brunswick Canada. Played first round of 2024 a few days ago. Made some of the best shots ever, along with some bad ones. Key was letting club drop a little then fluidly increasing power so 80% was through ball. I have struggled with tempo for decades, pulling me off the ball and too quick from the top. I am desperately working now to keep my eye on the ball through impact. Almost impossible for me to do if I get quick from the top.
Once again, golden advice. Thanks!

Great tips. This is basically what I've been doing and really helps - especially with the irons.

Nice post here, learning and making progress.

Can you please make the same video with driver, wood and hybrid

Making progress Allan! Keep up the great work.
Are you suggesting 5” for the lead foot and 4” for trail
When you close your stance you say keep the club face square to target, do you also keep shoulders square to target ?
Good question, shoulders square to your feet.
