I am 82 years old and usually play five times a week with a fairly worn-out body. One of your videos suggested raising the handle of the club to help with rotation and lessen stress on your back. I did as you suggested, and it has helped with my back pain. Thanks
Hi Todd Great video but at my club in UK we wouldn’t call that rough it’s first cut, our “rough “ is a good 4 inches deep, how would you suggest we get out of that? Nick
After struggling on the fairway shots I watched this video and improved my game considerably. Now I am able to get distance in the fairway. All I did was use the club head alignment as Todd showed and Boom! Thanks Todd for your dedication to the game of golf.
We got you covered my friend. Total team effort on our side....more to come! Are you on our email list? We have other content there that is not on UA-cam. You can join here www.usgolftv.com
Excellent job Todd in explaining the great use of a hybrid from the rough! I use my hybrid from the rough and I have noted: 1) play the ball back a little in the stance, 2) grip down, 3) grip firmer. 4) on downhill, sidehill lies, point the lead foot slightly down the slope which puts weight on the lead leg. All are applied or will be! Well done Todd!
Jet Flores from Escondido, CA. TY for this tip using hybrid in the rough & downhill lie. I almost fell forward and did not make good contact yesterday. Will have to test next time I play.
I started playing golf back in the persimmon times....my fav club (ever) was my persimmon 5 wood. Apart from being beautiful it was about the same size as a modern hybrid. I hit that club all the time from 160-200 give me that 5 wood...it seemed like i couldn't miss (of course i did but it seemed that way) i still have it somewhere i have my set of clubs from back then (left handed were hard to get back then too). For some reason though i still prefer my modern 5 wood which could be as big or bigger than my persimmon driver
Love the Maxvert 18 degree! Thinking about getting the 22 degree to replace the 5 iron! Great tip! I usually go with an iron out of the rough because of a lack of success with my previous hybrids. Will give this a go!
Awesome to hear. The Maxvert hybrids have been very well received from the golf community, great to see! The 22 degree is a great club for long par 3's and out of the rough.
Thank you! (from Paris, France)...sometimes the rough is a bit rougher...even very rough. Maybe someday consider a video addressing different degrees of roughness? :)
Thanks for tip. Our home course-includes your former editor and chief by the way, has very thick rough-no first cut, like going from fairway to jungle. Does this apply say if ball pretty snug down? Thanks
Had a 7 iron shot with a down hill lie yesterday. My ball flight was right of the green. I’m right handed. Wish I had seen this video before that shot. Ball was under my logo and I didn’t flair my lead foot. ✅

Greetings from Greensboro National GC! I don’t have too much problem with downhill lies on hybrids, but often have trouble getting weight forward on uphill lies. Also tough to get center face on balls below my feet. Ideas on these two?
Hello there,Jon from U.K,great vid, quick question, when you mention about putting the ball back in stance,on a fairway I usually have the ball about one ball back from inside of my left heel, would you recommend the ball to be 2 balls back from the heel or more?
I’m from a small planet in a galaxy near to yours, but you’ve probably never heard of it. Regardless, thank you for the tip, I just have to adapt it to suit our local vegetation :)
I don't know.... When I'm in the rough often I can barley see my ball. Almost never is my landing in the rough sitting even halfway pretty. Maybe try a shot with the ball buried in the rough.
Your course has some long rough! Did you see this video we did on 3 ways to use your hybrid that are out of the ordinary ua-cam.com/video/MQBZj7O0S6A/v-deo.htmlsi=eQ6hiJ2iw3pvHpwu
Rough in the states think shag carpet, not high but very dense. I watch the Open and its high but looks thin and wispy, pro’s swing like its not even there..
Flaring the lead foot earned a thumb-up. Brilliant!
Thank you...

I just bought a set of hybrids XDS. I played with them today and it was really amazing how well I hit them. Thanks for this information.
I have ditched all my long irons and carry 4, 5, 6 and 7 hybrids, so I get lots of hybrid practice from the rough. Love the toe-point tip.

Thanks, are you following the Vertical Line Swing?
It is a pleasure to watch your tips in Portugal .
Thanks for the tip Todd! Some of us spend most of our time in the rough and occasionally play from the fairway.
LOL, I have spent my fair share of time in the rough also.
Todd, this is so useful. Your tips will be on my mind during today's round on our very hilly local course. Thank you from Hingham, Mass

Thank you! (from Paris, France)...sometimes the rough is a bit rougher...even very rough. Maybe someday consider a video addressing different degrees of roughness? :)
We can do that. For now, in those situations move the ball back slightly and grab your hybrid with the most loft. 👊
Thanks, I'll try that!@@USGOLFTVshow
Thanks for tip. Our home course-includes your former editor and chief by the way, has very thick rough-no first cut, like going from fairway to jungle. Does this apply say if ball pretty snug down?

Yes, also would move the ball back slightly and grip the club firm.

What should I use since I don't have a Hybrid club in my bag? Thanks for the tip on downhill lie
Best bet would be to use a 7 iron. Hybrids are great clubs and you should consider getting one.
Great video on the use of a hybrid out of the rough. However, the downhill lie was unnecessary
From the uk love the content

Good tip. Self from India
Rough? The set up you had looked more like a crappy course’s fairway. Get the ball down in the rough we normally have to contend with.
I agree with his commentary but I also agree with your comment to put it in the rough, not the first cut.
Good point. Would like to see a tip when the ball is half hidded
I like that comment
Exactly
Great tip(s) today Todd! Any plans for a more lofted hybrid (26-27 degrees) in the future? Ocala, FL⛳
We have something on the drawing board, yes. Do you think golfers would benefit from it?
Definitely. Many experienced golfers that I play with would like to have a club that is easier to hit and possibly replace the 6 and 7 irons.
Hi Todd. does steeper swing help in such situation. and thanks for all the great tips. your fan from Dubai :)
Yes, swing with a more downward strike is good when the lie is poor or in the rough. Good question
Aurora, Colo Great tips. Do you do the same toe flare on a downslope with an iron?
Good question, short answer is yes.

Welcome. Are you enjoying the channel?
How about really thick rough? Still use a 21 hybrid or a lofted iron?
Depends, if the grass is growing towards the hole, go with the hybrid, if it is against you go with a very lofter iron.

Yep, like many of the commentators I wouldn't call this "rough". It's just the second cut.. What I call rough is 4 feet high, at least in summer
I don't know.... When I'm in the rough often I can barley see my ball. Almost never is my landing in the rough sitting even halfway pretty. Maybe try a shot with the ball buried in the rough.

Make sure you move slightly closer to the ball and add some hip bend, this will help.

That wasn’t very deep rough ,
But the ideas are sense. Rough up here virtually swallows the ball.
