Yeah... How absolutely hypocritical. Jimmy Kimmel a far left winger giving tribute to a comedian that would be considered by society today as a *RACIST, SEXIST, HOMOPHOBIC BIGOT!!!*
Oh my, when Jimmy stops for a moment because he can't talk - if I was in the audience I would just get up and hug him! Had the honor of being in the audience once and had a brief chat with Jimmy - amazing man! Go bless you, Kimmel
I always dreaded the day when Don would pass, and when it happened, it was even worse than I expected it to be. Felt like I lost my grandfather all over again. RIP Don. I will miss you forever.
When Jimmy started crying my heart melted. You can tell that for the most comedians, Rickles was a living legend, and surely by knowing him personally, the bond was strong as hell.
To be perfectly honest, I've never been a Jimmy Kimmel fan. Something about his brand of comedy always put me off. But watching this video, my heart went out to him. His eulogy to Don Rickles is the saddest, sweetest thing I've watched in a long time. It says a lot about the latter that he would be remembered by the former with such kindness. Thank you for sharing this moment of vulnerability. I know you miss your friend, and I hope each day is a little easier for you. All the best to you, Mr. Kimmel.
Marcel Walker I was thinking the exact same thing. I'm not the biggest fan of Jimmy but you can tell how much respect and appreciation he had for Don. It was a very nice tribute.
Marcel Walker Same here man. Never been a fan of Kimmel, but this tribute is one of the most geniune tributes. Made me respect Kimmel more. And I'm pretty sure a lotta people feel that way, n in that sense, this was probably Don's last note to him. “Keep my name alive”
Jimmy was busted up when a cast member passed on, and another time when "The Man Show" was ending; he was saying bye to his co-host Adam Carolla. Jimmy wears his heart on his sleeve and you always know what he is about.
The reverence that Jimmy has for his heroes, family, and friends is pretty neat. Being that vulnerable and respectful of those who've influenced him throughout this life makes me respect them on a different level than I already did. Thanks, Jimmy. You're a class act.
The night of this show I cried like a baby, my heart broke for Jimmy bc I know how much Don Rickles meant to him! The death of someone we love is just more than we can bare, initially, sometimes. RIP Don, you gave so much joy and laughter to SO MANY OF US! You're truly an angel! GODSPEED
I love seeing this sensitive side of Jimmy, it helps when you are in grief too. We come here to laugh, but it's okay to come here to shed a few tears here too. Especially for Don.
Jimmy, there was absolutely no need for you to apologize through parts of your monologue, no need to say sorry for being emotional. It was real. It was you. Some of us even cried with you. We felt your pain, we felt your loss. We all feel it too. Thank you for the stories, thank you for sharing with us.
I love Jimmy. He's very sensitive and very warming. I remember I was in Hollywood and I was crying and I was going through a lot of depression and anxiety and I went up to him and said I'm really depressed can I please talk to you. He said to me "what's wrong" he could tell I'm harmless that I just needed someone to talk to. I told him "I feel worthless I love comedy but, people don't understand me" he said "a lot of people don't. I didn't understand Sarah" (Sarah Silverman" he hugged me and said "you'll be okay." "Let's stay connected on Twitter" till this day he has made my life so much better. I love you Jimmy you have such a big heart!
I love Jimmy too - the fact he can stand there and speak with such sensitivities about Don Rickles makes you realize he is a wonderful man! Thank you Jimmy - I too miss Don Rickles!
I only discovered Rickles on youtube when I was 17... 2 years ago. But I remember the first time I saw him in digital form. I was watching the Dean Martin roasts. And this shorter balding man slapped Dean Martin, heckled these legends up on stage with him. And not only did he get away with it, he had everyone crying with laughter, including me. I was in love with this mans character right away. The next few weeks I would watch every single roast with Don RIckles including his standup. I'm tearing up, because I never knew this man. But his true warmth and powerful presence was felt even in a teenager living in the other side of the world. I always wished I was older, had more money, just so I could see him perform live, or even talk with him... R.I.P Mr. Warmth / the best insult comedian there have ever been! :'(
Jimmy Lehtimäki I'm from the UK and I too discovered Don Rickles through the Dean Martin Roasts, and also through videos of Deans Variety Shows of the 1960s. Did you see the wonderful exchange between Dean and Don on the Bob Hope roast? "You haven't reached that year yet!" "Thank you, Jerry!" Absolutely hilarious 😆 ( of course you have to know about the long-term feud between Dean and Jerry Lewis after they split up their act in 1956 to understand the joke, which as you are still only a teenager, you may not have heard of)
I do remember that. I did also know about Dean and Lewis split up. Like I said I've watched a lot of Rickles, and Dean Martin programs. Love how television was back then. Just pure nostalgic beauty . :)
Same bro, i am 24 now and i saw his stuff for the first time around 2011/2012. And even tough i didn't grow up in the 50's/60's i always liked this man, he is what i always imagined how a comedian should be like. Just being yourself and not trying too hard.
This is a beautiful tribute, and makes Jimmy even more human than ever. Very humbling. I read somewhere, either a book, or a Time Magazine, or Rolling Stone article this quote: "Everyone wants to be David Letterman's friend. But he keeps a bit of barrier between his self, celebrity, fans and friendship. But with Jimmy Kimmel, you KNOW you are his friend. He is Everyman. (sic)" Thank you Jimmy, for your loving, kind words. And tears. We feel the same way about The late Mr Warmth, Don Rickles.
I’ve watched this so many times Jimmy it gets me every time, I loved Don and it’s painfully obvious you did too. Not too many men drop there guard to show how much they really care about someone Jimmy so I take my hat off to you. I’m from Glasgow in Scotland and I only wish I’d gut to see Don in the flesh. God bless 👍🏻😄
This was HILARIOUS! I am 50 years old. When I was 17 I'm walking with a friend down Hollywood Blvd in FRONT of the Merv Griffin Show Theater. A guy is out front passing out tickets FREE and asked us if we wanted to come in. Don Rickles was the guest. We go in, we are the ONLY TWO BLACK PEOPLE in the audience. (Well you know what that means, lol) Don comes out and is doing his stand up and people are going wild laughing. We were enjoying it but WE ARE 17 and we actually NEVER BEEN TO A TV TAPING so we WERE a bit nervous being there. At one point Don tells a joke, the audience rolls, then he stops with a serious look and says; "Look at the two Black guys sitting there, barely moving, looking at me like they want to rip my head off. Yeah, I know, I know, they got you in here by telling you RED FOXX was going to be performing and now you're really pissed cause I ain't Red Foxx!" The audience rolls! " Look at them staring, (he clutches his heart) Move over Elizabeth, I'M COMING TO JOIN YOU TO RIGHT AFTER THIS SEGMENT!" And for the REST of the night we were the brunt (IN A VERY GOOD WAY) of all his jokes. Been a huge fan every since. He touched MANY people. RIP This was a great tribute.
We lost a great. I was deeply moved by his tribute and the emotion he displayed was enough to make anyone sob. There is nothing any of us can do after losing a legend like Don Rickles, nothing besides wish that life didn't have to come around to death, especially for someone as amazing as him. The greatest comedian to ever live. He will be missed.
This really showed how much Jimmy loved the late/great Don Rickles and it touched my heart. God bless Jimmy and the Rickles family. Just can't imagine late night TV without Don....he's already missed 💔
Jimmy kimmel.....u are a true man! I appreciate you as a host and you are so real.....bucket list Jimmy kimmel and Ellen......I must get to LA. sorry for your loss you made him proud! much love and prayers!
Jimmy was the first person I thought of when I heard the news. Beautiful tribute to a legend. One of the few people you would be honored to have berate & insult you. RIP Mr. Warmth
I'm English and never heard of don rickles. However, the guy sounds like an absolute legend and from what I gather he'll be missed by millions!! R.I.P don and huge respect to jimmy for this!! This got me teared up
You really need to Google and look up his appearances on Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, take a look. You do not need to be an American to enjoy his style of comedy, which was brutal but funny. He would be rude to you, but you knew it was a joke and he actually had a warm heart. Thank you.
John King I can't believe I've never heard of him up until now! Just looked at some of his best moments and it's honestly comedy gold. He's in a better place now and the heavens have just gained another angel. His legacy will live on and inspire others for many generations!! R.I.P
Most of these memorials are genuine to a degree but I've never seen this much emotion from a live show, really shows how much he cared for the man. RIP Don, a real gem.
This is one of the most heartfelt (and yet truly funny) tributes I've ever seen or heard. Jimmy obviously really loved Don as a person and a performer. I mean REALLY loved him. great tribute. Rickles was unique. everybody knew it.
Mr. Kimmel, this is the best show and the best opening monologue I have seen in a VERY long time. I loved Don Rickles and the stories you shared came through exceptionally sincere and heartwarming and everyone needs to see this. It seems to represent the old and the new guard, the younger generation giving tribute to those before us, honoring the memory of those who blazed the trails before us, and a representation of what the media used to do very well-uphold the best in mankind, the best in all of us. We share your grief and we so much appreciate the manner in which you remembered Mr. Rickles. Thank you so very much, I wish I had been there to see this specific show in person.
Respect to Jimmy for being strong enough to stand there and talk about Don. You can see how hard it was to at times. Such a loss to the world and to comedy.
I've watched this video a number of times, and it doesn't get easier. Jimmy, it's never embarrassing when you're crying over someone who meant so much to you. It's more embarrassing if you don't cry. I just hope when my time comes, people remember me as fondly as you remembered Don.
So glad I grew up in the era of Don Rickles. Nothing today comes close to the level of comedy and camaraderie of Rickles, Carson, Martin, Lewis, Sinatra, Hope, Davis, et al.
I was born in the late 80s, I missed the amazing era, but I have all the Dean Martin Roasts, so I didn't miss out on all the good before my time. Don Rickles was the man.
R.I.P to Don Rickles. He was a great funny actor. Best times with Frank Sinatra & Dean Martin. Those good old days when Don Rickles used to see Frank get boozed drinking all the time. But yeah. R.I.P. That guys Don is a legend.
Wiggysan Wiggysan yeah still till this day after 3 years now. And now Jimmy Kimmel is crying and very emotional again on live TV with the recent passing of Kobe Bryant, his daughter, and 7 other lives that were lost 2 days ago in Calabasas.
Watched it few times, always gets me bursting tears. Taken myself 2 plus years ago to Seat next to his resting place in Forrest lawn, I popped UA-cam and laughed so hard as if I has my best front row seat in town. Don were nothing but love, sensitive creature, one of a kind.. Love you 💙
Very very nice job Mr. Kimmel to remember a person is the greatest act of love, I heard an Interview with Mr. Rickles where he spoke so highly of you now I understand why he thought you were special. You take time out of your show to pay your respects Don was a great man an even better friend you are a good good man and no it's not corny to show emotion it shows your a real man. Congrats to you for standing up for a friend You have a new dedicated fan.
Cruzer , I've been watching Jimmy for YEARS! In my opinion, he's the most honest, humble and down to earth guy you'll EVER find on TV! Jimmy Kimmel is really an oxymoron! Lol! How someone as sweet and kind as he has survived Hollywood is beyond my comprehension! He has his best friend from childhood, Cleto, in his band "Cleto and the Cletones" along with Cleto's dad, Cleto,Sr. His staff is comprised of MANY, MANY family members! The uncle he referred to in this Monologue, Uncle Frank, used to be his Security Guard, along with Guiallarmo, the Mexican guy who's like his "side kick"/Security Guard now! Lol Jimmy's just an all around GREAT GUY! Welcome to the followers! I'm sure you won't ever be sorry!
It’s ok Jimmy. I’m crying too. Shalom and RIP Mr Don Rickles.

Poor Jimmy you can tell how much he loved him. RIP to a legend.
It's ok for men to cry. Screw those disliked the video.
For the right reasons - and Rickles death is reason to cry.
You're a troll, aren't you?
Steven Beaulieu I don't understand why ppl would dislike something like this.
I don't get it...it's normal to be sad when someone close to you dies.
Steven Beaulieu agree with you 100% people have lost the essence of family and friendship.
"The one and only" is an overused expression but not in the case of Don Rickles.
I am 50 years old and been watching Don since 5.....I didn't know he died...so I am very sad today. Class act Jimmy...you did right by him.
Thank you.
Being English isn't just like an excuse on its own xD I'm Irish and I loved Don.
John King I can't believe I've never heard of him up until now! Just looked at some of his best moments and it's honestly comedy gold. He's in a better place now and the heavens have just gained another angel. His legacy will live on and inspire others for many generations!! R.I.P
Tom, he did go and watch them.
have you seen any of the toy story movies?
You can really see the chemistry between these two and sheer enjoyment they both had. It reminds me of my grandfather and I. R.I.P Don
What a beautiful tribute to Don Rickles. Who knew that he could be so loveable?!?! I just wanted to reach through the screen & give Jimmy a big hug.
Pure Hearted Jimmy, You made me cry with you buddy, RIP D. Rickles.
Most of these memorials are genuine to a degree but I've never seen this much emotion from a live show, really shows how much he cared for the man. RIP Don, a real gem.
I have to say.. this is the best tribute I have ever seen.
RIP Don.
That was the most heartfelt tribute on a talk show, I've ever seen. Almost teared up myself.
Almost ? Come on, cry it out! In general
@@kwinslow8563 Well, it takes a lot for me to shed a tear sometimes.
I'm late to this party, but my tears of love for Don will last as long as I do. Great Tribute 💝 to the memory of a Great Man.
God damn man, 😥 this brought a tear to my eye...
Jimmy Kimmel is making me cry so much right now 😭
OK!!! This was an emotional rollercoaster.. RIP Don Rickles...Stay strong Jimmy.
Condolences to his family.
That was so classy and touching, bravo Jimmy
You can't fake that. Heartfelt. Had me in tears.
When I heard of the passing of Don Rickles, I thought of you Jimmy. Very endearing and loving tribute
Jimmy crying really gets to me 😢 Hope you're doing okay, Jimmy
This is one of the most heartfelt (and yet truly funny) tributes I've ever seen or heard.
Jimmy obviously really loved Don as a person and a performer. I mean REALLY loved him.
great tribute. Rickles was unique. everybody knew it.
When Jimmy Kimmel started crying 😭, & what a beautiful tribute. ❤
I admire your standing for things you believe in, and having compassion!
Great tribute to one of the funniest comedians I grew up watching....RIP Mr. Rickles - you will be missed....
Don't ever change Jimmy Kimmel! You are such a real, sincere & compassionate person!
Rip to a absolutely legend. Don is the last of his kind the last of his era. I only thank god i got to see him perform.
I love how Jimmy always shows genuine emotion when he pays tribute to the deceased. Great man with a heart.
Wow! Jimmy Kimmel gives THE BEST remembrances! I'm crying with him! Love Don Rickles! ;)
That was beautiful Jimmy. You earned my sub man.
Also Jimmy Falon is terrible.
Um ok
Zaphyra Don't act like Fallon isn't terrible.
Jimmy doesn't care about the UA-cam channel.
such sad news. I grew up with him. Saw him in Vegas. Just thought he'd live forever. Keep God laughing in heaven!
Thanks, Don, for making it to 90, invoking pure belly-laughter out of ALL of us till the end..The world is a sadder place without you...
There will never be another Don. Never R.I.P. Sir. Laugh Until You Cry....
Respect to Jimmy for being strong enough to stand there and talk about Don. You can see how hard it was to at times. Such a loss to the world and to comedy.
damn you Jimmy, I was not expecting to cry tonight!
Well done Jimmy! Don Rickles was a great comedian and even better man. He will be missed but never forgotten!
Touching tribute to a legend.
Classic story teller, I loved hearing Don's anecdotes. Those days are gone, but never forgotten.
My uncle passed away few days ago so this emotional Jimmy Kimmel helps somehow. Its like us two friends sharing laughs and tears.
Who in their right mind would dislike this?
Daniel Llewellyn hu
Apparently 334 people did
Hockey pucks.
Daniel Llewellyn It's sad. This man is pouring his heart out and people just want to be negative.
Lynrdskynyrd
I knew Jimmy was gonna shed a tear over this. RIP Don
VariedVids I watched the friars roast of rickles and couldn't stop laughing ! I'm so much more into this comedy than anything modern lately
VariedVids sounds like your old.
I was born in the late 80s, I missed the amazing era, but I have all the Dean Martin Roasts, so I didn't miss out on all the good before my time. Don Rickles was the man.
What about bill burr
that was golden era,,,,now people get offended too easily,,,,,,,
R.I.P to Don Rickles. He was a great funny actor. Best times with Frank Sinatra & Dean Martin. Those good old days when Don Rickles used to see Frank get boozed drinking all the time. But yeah. R.I.P. That guys Don is a legend.
Anthony Castillo dude......comedian. He was a comedian. Acted on the side, but he was a comedian.

Howard Hoover what does a mean? What r u saying because that letter a u wrote doesn't make any sense. Where r u going with this?
2 years later & this video has me in tears.
Wiggysan Wiggysan yeah still till this day after 3 years now. And now Jimmy Kimmel is crying and very emotional again on live TV with the recent passing of Kobe Bryant, his daughter, and 7 other lives that were lost 2 days ago in Calabasas.
Now that's what you call a proper send off. Great Tribute. I immediately thought of Jimmy Kimmel when I heard Don't Rickles had passed.
Beautiful. A lovely, heartfelt tribute. Sensitivity and raw, honest emotion abounds. Much respect.
L
Till the end of his life..he was sharp minded, I wish to grow old like this.
That was beautiful
This is very touching....you can feel the love behind all the sadness...
Total RESPECT for Don!! No one will ever be like him!! What a GREAT man. He may be gone, BUT, he will NEVER be forgotten!!
