    I'm so glad you have found a way that helps you. It sounds so tough. My journey has been atypical anorexia. Fasting like there was no tomorrow, to the point of my heart getting sick. Carnivore has saved my life. I'm losing weight effortlessly now. I listen to hunger signals and eat throughout the day. It's not medically safe for me to fast. I tell myself to focus on health, and the weight loss does follow
    If I feel my brain focusing on weightloss only I know that I need to correct myself, and get back to a focus on my physical and mental health. Slow and steady wins the race. ❤🐢

It’s interesting I don’t normally share videos with my mom (she’s 62) but this one I had to, because like me using food to deal with emotions is a very common thing for her and it’s caused all sorts of health problems from diabetes to Parkinson’s. Like you mentioned, I’m so hoping that fixing my health and diet and mindsets now will prevent me from having the same health issues and shortened health span. It’s been hard to watch her aging process.

    This is a great video today. I hope it will encourage some people to really get support and stop trying to make life changes in isolation
    Connection is the antidote to addiction. That’s why 12 step groups are so successful.
    Research shows that 12 step program success rates are low, but that is because most people who start a program do not use all of the tools prescribed in the program .
    To make a 12 step program work, we have to get a sponsor (a solid accountability partner), attend meetings more than once a week, study about addiction, pray or meditate daily, and actively help others to overcome their addiction.
    Thanks for another great video!!!!
    😃😃😃

    • @carnivorecouple
      @carnivorecouple  10 місяців тому +2

      Thanks for watching. I love what you mentioned about 12-step programs success coming from community. And what’s hard is that yes we have this online community, but how can we expand that in the carnivore community to offer tools like weekly meetings, sponsors/personal accountability partners? That’s what I want to try to fix not only for myself but also for people who really struggle with food addiction/emotional eating.

    It's so hard sticking to the carnivore diet, everything needs to be cooked. After a long day at work and being stuck in traffic, sometimes it's nice to make something quick, like a sandwich. Having to cook everything is the hardest part for me 💯

    • @archeanna1425
      @archeanna1425 8 місяців тому +1

      May I gently suggest that you reconsider what might be possible. You could cook twice as much each time you cook so that you have yummy left-overs ready to go when you open the fridge. Steak that was taken out of the pan before it's completely cooked then allowed to finish cooking from retained heat, wrapped and tucked into the fridge is sometimes better than fresh out of the pan but maybe that's because I eat it when I'm truly feeling a desire to eat. There are lots of meats that are in a prepared form - a favourite of mine is Ukrainian or Polish sausage, and best quality all-beef wieners.
      Open the fridge, unwrap the food, savour your snack, lick your lips, smile.
      Or take out all the things you have to take out to make the sandwich and put it all back again, wipe away the crumbs, notice the bread has almost gone stale, etc.
      My wish for you is that you find out that life can be easier when we set it up to be that way.

    I would argue that you are not powerless, but your patterns of behavior have become unmanageable. Guns don't kill people/ people kill people. Donuts don't make you fat/ Your eating the donut does. Take responsibility for your behavior!

    • @carnivorecouple
      @carnivorecouple  10 місяців тому +1

      I understand what you’re saying but admitting powerlessness (first step of the 12-step addiction program) is recognizing that for most people caught up in addiction sheer willpower is not going to fix the problem, which is why people don’t usually get out of addiction by themselves. This is why step 2 is recognizing the need for a higher power- whether that’s God, community, seeing carnivore as the higher power, or understanding your why’s as a higher power. We can’t focus on ourselves and solve addiction because it’s a pattern of selfish behavior that’s destroying our lives. That’s the point of step 1, taking the focus off ourselves and truly recognizing our desperation.

    When you are having your nutrition needs met, it's easier to keep on track. The satiety is amazing from the nutrient-dense food we eat on carnivore. We're not hungry. And we don't constantly think about food when we are nourished and satisfied. Having to prepare meals and cook recipes keeps the mind on food and I can't do it, which is one reason I have never tracked my macros. It helps to have something for the hands to do, like a hobby where you create something, help with the emotional upsets. I quilt and crochet and spend time with my chickens (face it, they're pets). My husband eats his emotions and I used to do that. Now, the benefits of this way of eating and the transformation my body has undergone at my age (67 in a few days) makes me much less inclined to go back to the way I was in the past. In fact, I'm a bit scared to even taste things I used to love because I much prefer the way I feel and look now. I think women can have more trouble losing weight than men, generally speaking. But carnivore levels the playing field! Have a great week! ~Cynthia, N. GA mountains

    LADIES: Read "Fast Like a Girl" for some in depth analysis on why we don't always do as well as the guys. If you fast breakfast, STOP IT the week before your period. The week before your period you should be eating first thing in the morning BEFORE coffee!!!!! if you have any sort of anxiety at all you shouldn't be fasting with coffee anyway, but definitely not that week before your period.
    You can also play with adding in a small amount of berries or some dark chocolate the week before your period. Berries don't give me symptoms and they don't cause me to gain weight, but everyone is different so you can try it on yourself. Women's bodies tend to like a little higher glucose during that week.

    I actually think carnivore CAN help fix that, but it may take time to get there. A lot of people do find that if they can muscle through and be very consistent for a while, that cravings and temptations do go away. I had been cutting sweets out bit by bit but the last hold out was sweetener in my coffee. When I finally removed that it was like a switch flipped for me. I don't feel at all tempted for anything sweet at all anymore. It might be somethign different for you, but there may be something you are having that is still fueling your food addictions
    I LOVE me some cheese and I still eat it. But deep down I know I a going to have to cut it out. It pains me so much, but I do want to cut it out for 30 days and see if I feel any changes.
    Maybe you could go full BB&E for 30-90 days and see if that doesn't fix the emotional eating and maybe other things that are holding you back?

    this is so relatable to me. it helps seeing other people talk about it and tackle their problems head on. by the way you look so much better than you used to.

    This makes so much sense. I'm a recovering alcoholic, addicted to sugar.

    I learned the hard way that it all comes down to being super strict (just eat meat salt and water). trying to find shortcuts like pork rinds, creamer, flavored electrolytes and cheese only made things WAY worse.

    You are such a beautiful girl. You have tremendous potential. You need to come to that realization and start becoming who you really are. Refuse to be a slave and take the power to become your best self.

    I recently fell off the bandwagon, decided a little bit of pasta and chocolate cake was ok (just this one time, blamed it on PMS and period cravings) but just felt like shit, and getting back to strict carnivore feels harder and harder the more I slip up

      It starts with a little here and there, but it always ends in disaster. You can beat this addiction. Stay strong and take it one day at a time.
