I really recommend making your own electrolyte mix. It's easy, it's inexpensive. Please watch the video below.
I understand you're being sponsored by lmnt, but the entire carnivore community is tossing their money out thinking they need "packets", pre-mixed to get daily, critical electrolytes.

Hi guys! I just started my 6th year in January. Similar to Chris, I've lost 100 pounds, reversed T2D, insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, Pancreatitis, and lowered my blood pressure to almost normal. My HgA1c was almost 10 in the beginning, and now it's 4.4! I've been with you guys the whole way and love all your videos, recipes and experiences.

@@SenorJuan2023 It's not limited at all. I eat, all kinds of meats, beef, chicken, pork, sausage, eggs, fish, I don't just eat beef all the time although some people do. Not my style. I answered a person regarding how carnivore affects cholesterol numbers, so I decided to share it with everyone, in case someone else is interested. I am a slender person but with genetic high cholesterol, and so I had been put on a statin. I was not an over-eater, and I rarely, if ever, ate fast food (once or twice a year?). Yes, I ate the occasional dessert and I like sugar, but I did not eat french fries (I don't like them). I cooked everything from scratch at home. Meats, lots of lentils and vegetables, etc. No baking, not a lot of bread, unless from scratch. So I'd consider myself as having been "doing all the right things". I even walked three miles day for YEARS. My doc said I was obviously dealing with hereditary cholesterol issues. He said that statins would help, and fast. He was right. In one month my cholesterol levels dropped, of course. BUT... the statin made my glucose levels rise dramatically!! One more point and I'd have been considered to be pre-diabetic! Wtf?! So I decided to reverse both of these issues by eating a carnivore diet. I did my research. I immediately stopped taking the statin and after three months had my blood levels checked. Not only had my glucose reduced, all of my cholesterol numbers dropped to levels that were EVEN BETTER than where my levels were before the doctor even wanted me to be on a statin in the first place. As in, lower than previous years when my numbers were considered normal, and I wasn't even close to needing a statin yet! My cholesterol ratio also improved, and it is the best it has ever been. In addition, I specifically had my "small, dense particles" levels checked. Those are the gold standard in predicting heart disease. It is an extra test I had done. My number was not only within normal range, but it was LOWER than the average person. All I can say is this diet absolutely works.

I gained 90 pounds when I hit menopause; I was a mess. I found the carnivore diet last June and I'm 51 pounds down right now, and kind of stuck. The most important change, however, is that I am now off all prescriptions and I'm never going to stop my way of eating.

Can I ask did you do anything different while you were gaining that much weight on menopause, did you eat more junk food? Or not exercise as much. @rettaconnelly3913 A slow, steady weightloss is better than a fast one. I under-ate on Carnivore last time, and lost so much hair and muscle...
Then I ended upp bingeing on carbs, and gained all the weight back.
I believe losing weight at a slower pace, while giving your body what it needs, will have a better chance of being sustainable in the long run.
I'm starting over now, and this time, I'm making sure not to under-eat and starve myself.

Good reminder about undereating. I went carnivore 2 years ago, working to recover from 10 years of severe chronic fatigue & fibromyalgia (housebound/bedridden). I was malnourished and underfed when i started carnivore and while I have the best nutrient dense food now I still only eat a fraction of what my body needs. Recently started tracking on Cronometer just so I can visually see what I'm eating in a day (I love charts). I've gained so much weight from UNDEReating both pre-carnivore and now, it really is a thing, not to mention our bodies simply can't heal or even maintain with long term malnourishment. Pro tip: eating plenty of butter is the secret to good sleep (at least for me, a menopausal woman with a previously bad relationship with sleep)

@@randommuse2024probably need to back off the fat a bit, will help with the diarrhea. Stay away from the nightshades, if you’re not totally carnivore already. Look at talks by Sally Norton on oxalate dumping. The dumping happens when you go carnivore, and it can increase the pain while the dumping is going on. I think most people with fibromyalgia have extreme sensitivity to nightshades (tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, eggplants, okra are all in the nightshade family). When I first went keto/low carb, those nightshades were my enemy. Oxalates from vegetables can build up in your system, and when you go keto or carnivore, your body starts clearing the oxalates out, and it’s not a fun process. My fibromyalgia symptoms are nearly gone, but it takes time… weeks or months. Laura and Judy Cho (Nutrition With Judy) have a podcast that’s really good too.

So, I researched the carnivore diet for weeks before I made the conscious decision to go all in. And that's how it's done, Cold Turkey. I had my last SAD meal on May 4th and stuck to the plan. I wasn't sure what would happen but, I took it very seriously and by day 20 I had already shed 20 lbs! I don't typically track what I'm eating but I'm obviously doing something right seeing that I have lost 100 pounds since last May. I have managed to get through the entire 2-month long holiday season last year without caving into any temptations that these holidays bring out. And it really upset my kids last summer when I refused to eat the ice cream cake my wife brought home for my birthday. How long will I do this? For the foreseeable future. It's who I seem to be, unless I get bit by one of those Bill Gates meat allergy ticks...

Basically just one big detox and cut. I have been bulking the last several months, put on a lot of muscle but need to lose the fat now.

Love you two! You inspired me when I first began my carnivore journey 210 days ago. I ordered LMNT because you endorsed it and my hubby and I drink it everyday. Really helped at the beginning. Your down-to-earth perspective and simple advice are so helpful especially when we are surrounded and bombarded with so much conflicting info and ideas. Just thank you so much!

This is my 2nd week on carnivore. The day after Christmas was my first day. So far, so good. I must say though that I still use olive oil occasionally. It's something that I grew up with, and there are some foods that are just awful with butter or animal fat to my taste. Until such time as it disagrees with me, I will use it. I lost a little over 7 pounds so far - and I know that is mostly water weight. This is more of a 30 day challenge for me. At most I think I would go 90 days to really kickstart the weight loss. Long term, keto is the more sustainable route for me and has done wonders for me in the past. I am really enjoying your videos and appreciate your practical experience.

Thank you for this video and for all the work you put in your channel. Always informative and reliable. You make some valid points. Yes, to track what you eat it’s important for seeing what you are at and being able to adjust. Colories are a way of measure as the weight measurement is. Not very accurate or detailed but very useful nevertheless. For us a life time overeaters it is good to understand what a portion looks like. I cannot eat large meals and therefore I eat 3 meals per day and I do not fast. It is the most sustainable for me. Wishing the best for 2024! 🎉❤

✌️PERSONALLY APPROACHING 2 YEARS OF THIS CARNIVORE WAY OF EATING AND I AGREE WITH EVERYTHING IN THIS VIDEO. ALSO I BELIEVE, BASED ON EXPERIENCE, ANOTHER MISTAKE THAT I SEE IS PEOPLE NOT STICKING TO WHOLE FOOD SOURCES(ex: PROTEIN SUPPLEMENTS INSTEAD OF REAL FATTY MEAT). CUTTING OUT SUPPLEMENTS WILL NOT ONLY IMPROVE YOUR CARNIVORE JOURNEY BUT ALSO BE BETTER VALUE FOR YOUR $ AS THE MONEY SAVED CAN EASILY HELP PAY FOR REAL FOOD: MEAT, EGGS, SEAFOOD ETC…CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SPATH FAMILY YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION TO ALL MUCH THANX👌👍💪🥩

Thanks for this. I lost weight on carnivore, but I under-ate. In the end I fell off the wagon, and gained all the weight back...
This time, I don't want to under-eat and lose a lot of hair and muscle mass, so I add more fat than last time.

And, not to make things more complicated, but occasionally the body “stalls” on the scale, but if you take measurements you might find inches going down! Overall scale weight doesn’t take new muscles into account (heavier than fat) and it definitely can’t show you the healing that might be occurring while the number “stays the same“. cheers on your journey! 🎉

I can be on bread and water but unless I walk 10k a day or do some running I will not lose weight. Thank you for this video I can’t wait to begin my carnivore diet!

Number 2 is what I’m seeing mostly with the friends and family I’ve recommended carnivore to. I tracked all my foods since 2018 so it was not a problem for me to track their daily meals until they got into the swing of it and developed a baseline. They would send me pictures of everything they ate throughout the day and I was seeing on average only 1,000 to 1,500 calories a day which is very unhealthy long term. Eating junk racks the calories up quickly. But healthier choices require more volume. I attributed their struggle to eat enough quality calories directly to sugar addiction, and from it, wrecked digestive systems.

It can be hard!! Don't feel like you have to jump up a ton and gorge yourself. Just try and steadily increase things and find ways to get more bang for your bite out of what you eat. Extra egg yolks in your scrambled eggs. Chicken with skin. Ground beef is very lean and not as protein dense as a steak or a roast so try and not have that be your main food.

I love meat but I also love berries and broccoli, makes my skin look nice and young. The key to good health imo is eat only real whole foods, stay away from processed foods and anything made from wheat.
Though once every couple of months or so I like to treat myself to a cake or a blueberry pie or something because I can get away with it.

I agree 100% that calories matter. My metabolism is nill after removal of my thyroid 20 years ago, yo yo dieting, weight loss surgery & 120 lb loss 9 years ago and now in my 60’s I have to watch everything. Carnivore is easy for me but very filling so I have to eat small amounts several times a day. I rarely eat steak but ground beef & venison is my go to meat.

  • @Robinhood179

The calorie thing is absolutely fact. So many in this community are calorie scoffers and say it doesnt matter how much you eat but it absolutely matters. Cheese is as addictive as sweets to me and because its a quick and easy snack to grab its easy to abuse and it will slow or reverse your weight loss.

    Hello Laura and Chris!
I'm just getting information at the moment and I thank you for your great videos!
We have a family holiday planned in Italy. If I start with the carnivore diet now and we will go to Italy in July, what would be the consequences if I skipped that diet for a week and eat, let's say, here and there spaghetti, salad and ice cream? Then, after the holiday I'd continue with the carnivore diet?

Hi Laura, this was the best explanation I have heard about calories versus carnivore diet. I do have one question on Friday nights just to be honest my wife and I like to have a glass of wine as we spend quality time together. I have decided to go to tequila which has zero carbs as she enjoys her Prosecco. This is the only waiver I have from carnivore and I am losing weight but wanted your thoughts? I am not drinking too excess, just a glass or two with some water and lime with a shot of tequila in each glass. I did want to say that you and your husband look amazing especially when looking at your older pictures keep up the hard work America is fat and they need this information.
