I watched this video shortly after you posted it, but didn't have a chance to comment. I'm very happy to hear you're still primarily eating a meat-based diet, and congratulations on all your success so far! I would strongly caution against "cheat days", though. A "cheat meal" on a special occasion is one thing, but planning full "cheat days" ? Nothing good can come of that.

I’m 4-5 months ahead of you in the process. Lost 190 lbs to get past my “goal weight”. My advice would be to careful in adding. I would add 1 thing at a time and see how it affects you. I went from OMAD Lion to just adding eggs and bacon (didn’t even “cheat”) and still gained 10ish lbs just from that. It can creep on fast. I’ve gone back to Lion and adding in 10k steps for now. I know it’s really hard to maintain the peak but I haven’t liked the backslide.

Eggs, butter, bacon sausage or smoked salmon for breakfast. Steak or burger patties for dinner. Occasionally, I'll eat some cheese or creme fraiche or mustard (Dijon has no sugar in it). I use Tabasco on my eggs once in a while. I also eat an avocado once a week, plus blueberries. When we go out to eat in a restaurant I'll order the plat du jour, which is always meat, lamb or fish. and if there are a few potatoes on the plate I'll eat them too. I stay away from anything green. Lastly, I still have a glass of wine every couple of weeks and I haven't gained any weight or had any adverse side effects. Do what works for you.

But three times per year I will go into a blissful self-destruction mode for two weeks and stuff a year's worth of crap into me. I'll start out at 136 pounds and balloon to 150. I have lost 133 lbs on carnivore and it has looked different at different parts of my journey. I started March 16th 2023 and reached my goal weight in January 2024 and then lost more. In January I did Lion Diet but did add coffee and flavored LMNT back in later in the month. Now I am probably 88%-95% carnivore. I have dabbled in flavored Liquid Death Sparkling Water and Olipop Sparkling Soda some lately and occasionally had some fruit. I try to keep it ketogenic or at least low carb if I include those things that day. I try to keep any “real” cheating for specific occasions like birthdays of family, Thanksgiving and Christmas. I may make occasional exceptions and get back on plan the next day. That is my commitment to myself is to get back up. Animal based is appealing to me at this point in my journey but I still feel like being in ketosis has so many health benefits that it’s hard to think about risking it with adding carbs. I am tempted to. Give it a try.

They tell you to limit protein but do you believe them,?
My husband did follow their advice and got sicker and sicker.
Just lately they wanted him to do that contrast dye test for his heart.
Everytime it tanks his kidneys. And he would have been on dialysis.
He has been avoiding protein but just lately he has been mostly meat and eggs and surprisingly his urine is not hardly foamy.
      Protein doesn't damage your kidneys.
Your kidneys are damaged and can no longer recycle proteins efficiently and so you get protein in the urine.
They liken it to having little holes in your bucket.
Reducing protein doesn't change the holes. It doesn't make you healthier to reduce your protein.
Protein is not causing the problem.
But limiting your protein will weaken your body more.
You actually need more protein because your body isn't as good at recycling protein so you need more to compensate.
Kind of like they tell you that you need to reduce your stomach acid for heartburn when heartburn is caused by low stomach acid.
I don't trust anything they say anymore.
If you do the opposite there is a strong chance you will heal.

@@carnivorecouple well, vegetables and grains are crap foods to me. Fruits are better but still; I can't have fruits or I get the symptoms back that my carnivore diet cured pretty much immediately. In my case, joint pain and digestive issues.
Veggies are the worst for me. i can eat some amount of white rice and white bread without any problems (If there is no added bullshit) but veggies give me issues right away.
The whole thing about carnivore is that the benefits of the diet come from eliminating the inflammation and the blood sugar problems that come from eating plant foods.
The more plant foods you re-introduce, the more of the issues can come back.
The idea that 'whole foods' are inherently healthy is part of the established medical/nutritional paradigm that I think is complete bs. For me, even eating one pickle gives me pretty bad joint pain.

Lower the amount of animal foods by just cutting back a little at a time.Instead of a 20 oz steak eat a 10 oz steak and so on until you eat just a 3 1/2 oz serving with a big salad and some plain yogurt with berries. Break into the Whole Foods little at a time. Introduce small portions of healthy carbs like sweet potatoes. No refined carbs. No white sugar crap.Stay away from those foods that are addictive to you. You know what they are. We are alike in many ways and for me portion control is the most important lesson in my relationship with food. I have learned that I can eat anything if I allow a common sense portion. I never feel deprived anymore and I don't eat crazy diets. Don't starve and don't overeat. Stay in between. Balance is key to success in maintenance. Good luck and God Bless you and your growing family!

So, I'm not a strict "Carnivore" due to allowing myself "treats" from time to time; I let my body "flex" in and out of healthy "ketosis;" and fast when I went over-board with things (one "OMAD" usually fixes things). My treats do sometimes include some fruit (cantaloupe), home-made protein bars/bark (coconut butter with either banana protein power mix or cocoa powder and some inulin; and allulose sweetener if needed) and a pizza (no more than once a month).

Everybody uses a hammer or wrench for different purposes . Those are tools, just like the carnivore diet. Carnivores buck the false mainstream narrative of what comprises nutritional and metabolic health, which is admirable and important, but there are always extremists who have cultish tendencies, which are rooted in pride and arrogance. You are a unique individual and autonomous individual! Awesome and inspiring testimony!! God bless you and congratulations on your twins! What a great example you will be to you children!

Primarily meat animal based diet is proper human diet, seasonings are just that, I also use different sauces to change it up but try to pay attention to ingredients and use sparingly, I have lost over 200lbs and understand the urge to eat other things because everyone around you does but as you deviate from proper human diet you will see the negative effects on your body, congrats on your journey, we live and learn

I've been where you are, where I hit my goal weight, went into maintenance, and then started slowly trying add stuff back in and have the occasional "cheat" meal. Months go by and the weight creeps back on. Regaining the weight plus extra is psychologically/emotionally horrible after climbing that mountain once already.
The reason I got to be overweight in the first place is because I cannot moderate carbs / sugar.
If you are able to moderate long-term, that's great. But I have to say watching this video filled me with second-hand anxiety lol because it was like listening to my past self justifying why I would start cheat meals and I had it all under control... It is incredibly easy to think you can moderate, and talk yourself into the fact you have changed, when really you are always going to be someone who needs to abstain from the highly addictive substance called carbs and sugar.
No point trying to warn people of this though, everyone has to learn for themselves.

What helped me was to record a short video from day one. It helps you express your challenge with cravings, withdrawal and anxiety. Especially the first 12 days. Just dive in, there is no perfect way to start...just start! Every body is different and we all have our own way and interpretation of the Carnivore diet. That is why this community is so loving and supporting, because we have all gone through the same.
Buy a few steaks, some bacon, lots of eggs, lots of butter. Then clean out the kitchen and throw out everything else.
Invest in some potassium (because you will lose lots of water and you need electrolytes) Vit. D, Iodine and magnesium
This might seem like an expensive investment but long term you will save a lot of money
If you want to drink coffee go ahead, this is another journey but you can quit after doing Carnivore for a few months
Good luck we are here for you!! ❤

Update day 8 (after 7 days carnivore) I did all kind of things to reverse my diabetes type 2 including water-fasting. IF and Omad. Lowering sugars intake. But still a struggle. Started watching some video’s. Ordered 2 books and just started. I’m a single dad raising a vegetarian kid. So I really had to explain something. We both love animals. But since I’m interested in pre history collecting artifacts etc. I’m very much convinced we didn’t change much. Where group animals. We still like to sit around a fire in the evening. During ice ages we totally depended on animals. There were some fruits and nuts ones in a while. But mainly meat. And since human species were able to manipulate fire I’m sure they know how to cook. Also fasting was a normal thing. So I was convinced to try this. Watching the encouraging video’s helped a lot as well. What I can tell you is my blood sugar went down to normal in 5 days. I stopped taking pills after day 3. There is still a lot to learn and I’m glad I found this carnivore lifestyle.

You have to stay carnivore to maintain. I was on keto and lost 52 lbs down to 169 with a goal to get to 160 and maintain between 160 and 170. The problem is that I was always hungry with keto because keto was not satiating. However, now on carnivore, and am well satiated with plenty of nutrients, so I am not hungry - I am satiated. I may have some cravings but all is well. Unlike keto, I do not anticipate going off carnivore entirely.

I am happy that you are thriving and people need to stop being so dogmatic. Seriously food balance is a preference.
If you can't handle being vegan or pure carnivore so what? As long you are losing weight and becoming healthy by all means keep to it.
Remember losing weight is the EASY part. Sustaining it for years to come is the real challenge and if small adjustments and modifications work for you and make it infinitely easier to sustain go do it.
Personally I love apples and oranges too much that I felt miserable when I start restricting carbs.
But just consuming those fruits a day (at least 2 apples or even sometimes 2 apples and an orange) made me keep my diet and weight off for over 2 years and counting.
And bloodwork was still good too.
So do what helps sustain you :)

That's why you need to look at the glycemic load as well. Anyway, you're right, you optimized everything by going carnivore only, and now that you've hit your goal, you can afford to add some fruits and vegetables for fun whilst remaining mostly carnivore.

If you steam spinach it gets rid of most of the oxalates in it. Us humans really are prepare-vores 😂

Heinz ketchup (and other things) check label, might have added sugar. You can find most anything without added sugar. Try (at least) these three delicious brands: Mezzetta, Primal Kitchen, Waterfront Bistro.

I have only been doing carnivore for a mont today... I have cheated 3 times and I have felt horrible and swollen every time... I understand the want to have a cheat meal... but dawg is it really worth it. Every time I have, I have felt horrible like today. ... Starting all over again today. No Cheat September is the goal..

You know, that's one thing I hate about. These carnivore forms is if you post pictures of anything or one thing that isn't carnivore or considered carnivore you will get crucified.
