My TACTICS for MACKEREL FISHING worked!

This was a great mackerel fishing session! I was fishing mackerel from the shore, at the depth of 6-10 m, in the Gothenburg area. My tactics for mackerel fishing worked! I started to fish with quite light lures around 20 g without any success. Then I switched to more heavy lures of 40 g for longer casts, and I could catch two mackerels and one garfish. It looked like the fish was located further away from the shoreline. It might have been just a matter of chance. Mackerel is finally here around Gothenburg, Sweden!
My gear:
- 10-foot rod Caperlan Ilicium-500, 20-60 g.
- Reel Daiwa 20 Laguna LT 4000-C..
- Braided main line with a diameter of 0.18 mm, fluorocarbon leader with a diameter of 0.4 mm and a length of 3 m.
Lures that gave me fish:
- Caperlan Biastos 40 G Aji, Blue

That weird fish is called garfish. I do not like to fish near warfs, I like more nature when I fish, but will be interesting to try

I see you have a spin rod. Can you also use a LRF rod or minimum required is spin in Nordic waters?

I do not see any problem with LRF rods. You just will not manage to cast your lure far with light gear. If mackerel comes really close, LRF will work. It will also work for trout fishing in shallow water if you have waders
