      Your hair is very odd, are you sure it’s 2c and not just flatter because you sleep on it? Not trying to question you it’s just that typically hair gets curlier not wavier near the back? (3A turning into 3b or c for example)
      Either way your hair is beautiful 😊❤️

      ejbruks You’ve got to put those curls in a pineapple, my dude. Get a scrunchie, gently gather all your hair to the top of your head in a ponytail, and use the scrunchie to hold it. Only wrap it once, though. You don’t want to strangle your curls. :D

      Daedindalin I lift my hair up with no rubber band and sleep on it on a satin pillow case . I prefer this over the pineapple because i don’t get the flat hair on the top. As I turn from one side to the other I am used to moving it up in my sleep. In the morning there’s a lot of volume.

      I'm 2c-3b and my fave gel is DIY flaxseed gel! Check if those DC products have protein, you have be protein sensitive. It's a common problem with Devacurl products. I think it's more likely they have too much protein then they dried your hair our. Protein overload makes your hair feel like straw, and kind of brittle.

    I found this video to be very interesting - I never knew that this method could be used for different types of hair. I have Type 4 curls - so tiny coils. I stopped putting a straightening relaxer in it a few years ago, and I am still learning how to deal with it. The latest transformation is that it is getting curlier and harder to straighten with heat. So, I started finger coiling the curliest sections. I find that the hair tends to retain length better - instead of shrinking down into an afro. It also helps to loosen the coils into spirals - which I really like because it looks like I spent a lot of time with a curling iron but lasts longer. If I take care not to get it too damp and wrap the finger coils into a bantu knot or around a scrunchie, I can get the hair to unwind enough to form loose waves. So, I use finger curls to loosen and unwind my naturally coily hair.

    Beautiful! I have the exact curl type. I had done the finger coil but not quite like you do. Your technique is better. Since I have a lot of hair and it’s thicker, I am ok with curling my hair in one direction and not separating the curls quite as much. I’m excited to do your technique. I hope to get to the gorgeous curls you have in this video!

The brush does damage my ends. I will have to try the finger curl. Your beautiful and your is gorgeous. I did a big chop off. My hair looks more healthy and curlier

      Or have your hair dresser cut in more layers on top. It looks absolutely insane straight, but curled, it's magic. My Deva stylist has been cutting it that way for years and it's never failed. Also, take a big toothed clip and clip up sections of your roots during dry time. It'll help lift the hair at the root since everything else you've done till this point is going to devolumize the crown. Gorgeous spirals, queen!

    How do you know which direction to twist? Does it matter? ♥️

    • @JoyBeforeHer
      @JoyBeforeHer  6 років тому +3

      Daniella Fagan I usually twist in random directions. But some people’s hair already lean toward a certain direction so I’d say to follow that direction if your hair does that

    • @katergil
      @katergil 6 років тому +5

      You'll probably know which direction to curl with practice. And one way to recognize whether that direction works is when its the wrong direction your curl will look like it's really fighting to keep shape, like becoming a frantic mess with a big zag shape instead of a cork screw. For me, if I accidentally curl it wrong, sometimes it's just a matter of trying a different angle, like maybe twisting it upwards instead of pulling down while you curl. Other times if I touch it wrong it's just over for that curl on that style day but it might curl well another time. Keep playing with it! You'll even get a memory for which curls like what direction and where each curl naturally is so you don't accidentally break apart a natural curl clump.

    • @livismith5007
      @livismith5007 6 років тому +1

      Daniella Fagan probably, i notice that my hair likes going a certain direction. What i do is i apply my leave in/moisturizer to the piece I'm gonna coil and scrunch. The curl tends to show you which way it likes to bend. After i find my direction, i apply the gel and coil, scrunching if needed.

      No bc air drying doesn’t give volume to your hair as in it is drying “flat” whereas if you are drying it with a diffuser it scrunches up your hair and it will dry while being scrunched up which makes it stay in there for most cases. But you should try letting one side of your hair air dry and the other one with the diffuser to see which you like best. Hope this helps! :)
