Who tought you all this well can you teach me because if i tried this week i would just full on mess everything up. But you're a professional repair men im getting my ps4 repaired because it was overheating hopefully my ps4 will be fixed.
For anyone wanting to try this. Its completely worth it. My ps4 sounded like it was going to take off to the moon. Before I found this video I only went as far as taking the power supply out and cleaning the fan/heat sink from there. But I was missing the whole other side of the heat sink where there was a layer of caked dust. I did reapply the thermal paste as well so maybe that had something to do with it but I kid you not when I say there was a layer of dust on the other side of the heat sink. It's so quiet now. Thanks for making this video
Mission successful! If you’re like me and have completely no idea what you’re doing but your PS4 is loud af and/or overheats I promise you it’s easier than it looks. I watched the video 2x before and whilst I was disassembling my PS4 step by step (I bought a torx kit, thermal paste, and compressed air). Moral of the story is it’s super easy to do thanks to this video!

Thanks for the guide, super complete, went from jet engine to dead silent. I have a few tips for the beginners too scared to try this: 1. An easy way to keep track of the screws: Use paper pages, write down the component part; "Heatsink" for example and just place the screws over it, do the same for every component and align the pages in cronological order as you disassembly the parts, so it will be way easier to put everything back. 2. Remove the power supply connector from the board instead from the power supply itself, so the cable won't get in the way later, also try as much as possible to grab the connectors from the plastic part instead of pulling the cables. 3. Just be extra careful when disconnecting the power supply connector, blu ray flex connector and the fan connector. 4. Try to use a compressed air can, they are pretty cheap and will remove any leftover of dust, especially the fan and heatsink parts. 5. I used regular 95º Alcohol to clean the CPU/GPU (APU) and Cooler Master Nano thermal paste. 6. Relax and take your time, pause and rewatch the video as many times as you need, there's no need to rush. Good luck! 100% recommended to do this procedure
Excellent video and well explained. I was initially sceptical although I gave it a try as the PS4 would only run for around 10 to 15 minutes before the overheating error. Cleaned the dust out and took a chance on the thermal paste being OK. After cleaning out the dust and reassembling the system it would heat up and cut out after 10 seconds. Ordered the thermal paste and applied it the next day and my PS4 is working perfectly and no longer resembles a jet engine. If the system is 5+ years old I would recommend replacing the thermal paste when you have the chance to save you taking it apart twice. Its basically brand new now. Brilliant 😊. Thank You.
I follow your video to the tee. My PS4 hasn't been cleaned in 7 years. I used arctic silver 5 thermal paste, replaced all my thermal pads, cleaned my fan blades with a million Q-Tips, and cleaned the heat sync. My PS4 is quieter than when I first bought it. Thanks a Trillion!❤
I successfully completed this on my CUH1001 with the help of your tutorial. I've noticed it started to run louder like a jet takeoff in the past year. Only advice on UA-cam was too clean the fan blades and replace the thermal paste. With this video I got to the heatsink and sure enough found out that the vent was 70% covered by dust like a rug. Now my Ps4 is whisper quiet and can only hear somewhat of a fan kick in now and then. Thank you for the helpful video and keep up the good work
AngyNags No I didn't because there seemed to be a decent amount left. But if I would go back and do it again I would do it while I had the past already opened because my ps4 still isn't completely whisper quiet especially on Fortnite. Thats why I do plan on changing the thermal paste soon in the future
Thank you so much! My PS4 was doing the same and turned off 2 mins into any game. I didn’t want to replace the thing, where I am planning to buy my PS5 as soon as our local retailers restock. I followed your procedure step-by-step, and now my PS4 is running beautifully...just like new 🙂👍🏻 God bless you sir.
This tutorial really helped me but I feel like I had to decipher putting it back together by myself. You should’ve talked us through putting the mother board back. I really struggled with it.
Fasttech he isn’t really entitled, he’s just saying it would be easier for people if you showed how to put it back together. I mean, it IS self explanatory, but think of the people who don’t have much experience with electronics
Woah dude. Just trying to give constructive criticism. I don’t see how that makes me entitled. I just wanted to hear you say some instructions out loud when you put it back together, I rewatched that part a lot trying to figure it out because you weren’t talking through it. No disrespect but I don’t really understand the hostility. I also complimented the video first by saying it really helped me. Hope your day gets better.
watched a few others recommending switching things off, turning it upright, keep it horizontal, clean this and that. This was in-depth thorough cleaning. even I managed to follow it. much better than all the rest. What I would say is buy some thermal paste before you start, if it needs you'll be glad you did.
sir.can i ask question sir? can i play digimon world next order on first generation when ps4 first time release? or this CUH version? i ask cause that game release on 2016 but this ps4 2013 =)
@@claudiomedina7028 sir.can i ask question sir? can i play digimon world next order on first generation when ps4 first time release? or this CUH version? i ask cause that game release on 2016 but this ps4 2013 =)
Dude thank you so much!! After waiting for so long Kingdom Hearts 3 to come out, I finally purchased it and the fan was messing up my experience with its loud noise, but with this video I got it to where its dead silent!! I cleaned the dust (dead cockroaches were literally inside the system) out and replaced the thermal paste and it works perfectly!
Okay, this was a frikkin’ GODSEND! I didn’t even mind all the ads because this saved my PS4’s life; I only wish I had discovered it ages ago when my PS4 first started sounding like a hovercraft. Literally just finished putting it all back together and fired it up and omg what a revelation! Only things I did different were replace the thermal paste, and remove and clean the fan properly (with the help of a different video), but thanks so much for this. For anyone sitting in the fence, I am totally useless at this kind of thing, but just followed the steps and now feel like a NASA scientist! Oh, and for anyone worried about static damage, I hoovered the shit outta every component before I learned that’s BAD, and it didn’t do it any harm whatsoever.
I’m stuck at getting the power supply cable out, it is not as easy as people do it in the video and i’m concerned of breaking it in the process of removing it. Also, I see symptoms of the fan not moving by itself or being loose, so I’m assuming my fan is also faulty. I’ve worked around it, cleaning the fan and the heatsink but it still overheats. UPDATE: I was able to open it, turns out and it was the fan that gave out. I replaced it, the ps4 runs perfect now.
I was struggling with that part to so what I did is tried my best to lift up the power supply while the cable is still attached. After get it out there was enough room without me trying to yank it and unhooked the clip from the power supply *not the mother board* as I did not want to yank that one out of the mother board. You have more leverage when you pull the power supply out, you just have to be careful not put too much force. As for the cable it was still hard to take out but I could put more leverage. Wiggling helped a bunch.
@@jimmysmith4821 It’s likely it does, but you can find out by either googling it (the model of the ps4) or when you remove the fan it has a numbers and code on the lower back of it which you could look for when purchasing a new fan
Terror_Bear yes you should I never listened mines now broke I’m trying to fix it now but idk how I got a dust over heating thing and I got the blinking blue light and a white line that blinks so know I don’t know what to do I need somebody to fix it
Before you open your system it would be best to use rubbing alcohol (least maybe 70%) to clean off the fan, heatsink, and the whole system. The next step is to buy new thermal paste to re apply the dried up expired old thermal they applied. I guarantee if you all these things you won’t have to open you console for the next 4 years depending on the condition where you put it AAAND you system will cool much more efficiently I wanna say for atleast 15 degrees F
Yes you should do it. I have 1206A and it made loud noises and it the air throw at the back was not good. Cleaned it replaced the paste ( as it dried out) and its like new now. Clean it before getting a dead system...
Man you are a lifesaver. I thought my PS4 was gone. Followed your instructions and everything works as good as new. Can’t believe how quiet it runs now. Cheers 👍
good-looking man went from a PlayStation that wanted to turn off from overheating and sound like a jet engine to it sounding so quiet I was laughing Local shop wanted 45usd to do this

@@AnAverageGamer__ They are not just doing yours. They do many consoles a day. Have a waiting list. If you want to risk breaking your ps4 do it yourself
I want to thank you for doing this step by step tutorial. I decided to disassemble my ps4 following your instructions since I wanted to be sure that it would be real clean. I had to do it urgently cause even when using UA-cam it was running loud. I don’t need to mention that I stopped playing games for sometime due to overheating (It shut down on me twice so I didn’t wanna go for a third one) Everything went fine and all worked as it should. No missing screws or unplugged cables 😄 Now it runs much better and it definitely blows air again.
For anyone doing this doesn't matter how your thermal paste looks once you've opened your system and got to the apu be sure to clean it and re apply the paste don't listen to this man That thermal conductivity is as good as gone as soon as you lift up the motherboard away from the heatsink
I wanted to express my utmost gratitude for the thoroughness of this video. You also made it seem so simple and easy and I was very relaxed going into the endeavor. My heatsink was, of course, dust clogged and the paste was hardened. I followed your awesome video and cleaned out the entire device and replaced its thermal paste. Thank you, genuinely, for how awesome this video was. I was able to complete my PS4 Pro as well as my son's PS4 original (his was obnoxiously loud when playing Fortnite.) From 2 hardcore gamers, THANKS!
Great video. The only complaint that I have is that you never re-use thermal paste once it has been separated. Maybe Liquid Metal but not thermal paste.
Nice video. I have a PS4 donated by a friend who has upgraded to a PS5; this video has encouraged me to open it up and give it a bit of a clean, as the fan is pretty noisy. Thx.
Fasttech you are my hero! My PS4 kept overheating and was so loud! After I followed the steps in your video, and reapplying some thermal paste, my Ps4 is quiet and I get to hold out for the Ps5 👌. Thanks again!
I encourage everyone to definitely clean their own system. Only took me as long as him when i got the right screw driver. Make sure you use a T8H, not just a T8.
Man I wanna say you're a true lifesaver and the absolute best. I've had my ps4 for yrs now and just recently found out about the fan problem. But thanks to your guidance I was able to get to the root problem and fix it completely. You've made myself and kids extremely happy lol. Thanks a mil and great video
THANK YOU!!! IN COVID PANDEMIC HERE... REGULAR PS4s HAVE GONE UP TO $350+YOU HAVE SAVED ME ! THANKS AGAIN👌🏾👌🏾 will do this regularly to keep my ps4 up!
I recommend you all doing a back up before disassembling your consoles. I always do this when tinkering with any pc or console in general. This video shows how a lot of people are cleaning wrong their consoles since most videos don't bother opening the heatsink (where is most of the dust). Great video overall, but the guy should have cleaned all of it if someone is paying them to do this. Compressed air or some DRY cloth are good to use in cleaning the motherboard.
My PS4 was a little bit different from the one you showed on the video, but even though the minor differences i got all the dust cleared out, a little more then you showed in this video, and applied new thermal paste and it works silently again! I was nervous as hell when i pulled it apart but now, seeing it work and not hearing a thing, i'm so proud of myself, dude thank you so much for the clear video!!
It’s very easy to take apart your PlayStation 4 You have to look for black tape on the left and the right side in back of the PlayStation And the warrantee stickers there’s two of them It’s very very easy I clean mine with Dyson DC 33 With the hose it gets all the dirt out I cleaned mine it sounds brand new and I put very expensive thermal paste on the chip it does not overheat no more
cant thank you enough, my playstation is completely quiet now and not heating up at all! highly recommend doing this, was scared about breaking it but honestly was so easy he talks you through the steps really well x
Thanks for this - very helpful! I just took apart my PS4, removed the dust (wasn't too bad) and replaced the thermal paste. Started back up no problem :-) Just keep an eye on the battery cable when reassembling - I didn't have it going through the right hole and had to go back a step and remove the metal plate and motherboard then pull it through properly. So quiet!
Hey just recently went through this issue, I now have a silent fixed PS4. Had no luck with finding a ps5 or ps4 bought the last one from a pawn shop it sucked did not work. Fixed mines even had a few screws missing but it works like new now thanks man happy New Years ✊🏽💯
Hey men I used your video as guidance thanx a lot My ps4 was so loud you could hear it downstairs, I cleaned out the fan and changed the thermal paste and now its so much more quiet, thx so much I got my ps4 when the white glacier destiny bundle first came out in 2014, thanks !!
Same here man the destiny version mine was the same packed up 2 days ago and cleaned out the clogged vents fan and heat sink and added new paste and boom starts up works fine very loud though and then settled down so well now its as good as new
You just saved my 6 years old PS4 , It sounded like a Jet Engine was taking off in my living room, But I followed your instructions and it is like a new Ps4 ! Thank you very much !
This is a very good video!!! Cleaned my ps4 CUH-1004A without any hassle!!! Also replaced the thermal paste. The paste was hard and this caused the ps4 to work harder. Now my ps4 is running very very quiet!!!
@Swervo Szn Hi, just follow the video step by step, watch it a couple times and you will note it is actually easy to replace the thermal paste. I used Thermaltake TG-8 Thermal Paste, it is a good quality paste or you can use any other good pate in that range for that matter!!!
Thank you so much man, you have no idea how much dust there was...The dust smelt burnt, and everything in my ps4 was pitch black and moist...if you thought yours was bad, then you should’ve seen mine...
I've had my PS4 for 6 years and it was soo loud that I heard it from downstairs and how following this tutorial it is now quiet with no overheating, thank you very much! 😁👍
This video finally gave me the push in confidence that I needed in order to finally open up my PS4 (CUH-1115) and give it a thorough cleaning. I even went the extra mile and replaced the thermal paste for that "new car" feeling. Thanks a million man, for real.
sir.can i ask question sir? can i play digimon world next order on first generation when ps4 first time release? or this CUH version? i ask cause that game release on 2016 but this ps4 2013 =)
Thanks a lot brother.Your Detailed video helped me to solve overheating issue of my PS4 .Also I changed thermal paste. Most difficult part was removing power supply connector which I did by using small plier tool. ❤️❤️
I did this with the help of my dad, it sounded like a plane, I literally didn’t hear anything in the games. After cleaning it, it’s honestly a pretty good improve in the sound of the fan, it doesn’t sound like it’s new (because it isn’t) but now i hear the game perfectly, I didn’t know Shadow of the tomb raider had ambiental sounds at the charging screen.
@@fasttechvideo 04432 I've asked for a tracking number and never got it and I've talked to yall on the phone and yall said should be shipped out this week and on my email it showed nothing only showed when I purchased it and it says nothing been shipped out

Thanks so much this really worked. And for those who don’t have compressed air don’t worry it’s not absolutely necessary. I just used the good old mouth 😂 and a cold hairdryer. PS4 is quiet now 😃
So my ps4 started overheating looked at a lot of videos on how to fix it but was really nervous too cause it was the first I did something like this. This video was really good cause it explains what you have to do and what to be careful of consider me subscribed
Thanks just did mine I’m usually very meticulous when it comes to my electronic but I have the Launch Edition base PS4 still looks brand new and I decided what would it look like inside and to my surprise there was a good amount of dust inside coming from a person that regularly cleans the system. So from the slight noises it made before I played over 12hrs nonstop of RDR2 fans didn’t even kick on full blast. Thanks again. 👍🏻
My ps4 overheated after a couple of minutes playing a game before turning off, i did everything in the video like you but now it turns on after a few seconds before beeping red and turning off
Thanks so much !! My Heat Sync was block about 80% I couldn’t get through 5 mins of anything without it saying it overheated now it’s pretty quiet and doesn’t sound like a jet
I had my doubts but i took it my PS4 apart cleaned it as shown in the video and it worked wayy better than just cleaning the fan but the only problem i had is that i have extra screws somehow but my PS4 still works thank you so much
Really good explanation on good taking it apart, sorta left me hanging on the reassembly, i have left over screws and didn't hear a thing from you until you mentioned the hard drive lol
Bro I followed everything you did in the video and it made my ps4 even worse. It starts up and then shuts off, I did it over three times and now it won’t work. Thanks a lot.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! YOU'VE REALLY HELPED ME OUT.. Sonic Colors Ultimate comes out tomorrow and I preordered it for PS4 and I watched this video and got my PS4 working again... Right before the game came out. Thanks again!!
I’m so scared of doing this, I feel like I’ll break something and I won’t be able to replace it if i do break it and I don’t have money to buy extra stuff

This really did work follow instructions one step at a time pause it between steps it’s very simple I hate myself for not doing this years ago, it took about 30 minutes mostly just being careful and I didn’t replace the thermal paste still works like brand new
Thx for the vid idk if its going to work but thx for helping knowing how to do it im only 13 and i wasn't even scared because i been researching and trying how to fix my ps4 and i went through so many videos and thus one explain everything thank you.
Good for you for having a go. You can fix anything if you follow instructions carefully and don't hurry but most people are too scared to try. This video is a good example of a good instructional video but I would always recommend looking at 2 in case someone missed something or someone has a useful trick for getting around a problem.
I had to do this because my ps4 would shut off mid game because of it overheating. Only took me 7 years to finally do this. Works perfectly fine now thx!

Young Stunner7x22 I bought thermal pasta and replaced the old one and now it works perfectly with no noise just I kinds fucked up my antenna for my controller connection
It sounded like your video at first but it would run . After i open it and clean it it goes to home screen and doesnt make a sounds but once i open any application the fans runs wild an the ps4 do three beeps and the red light come out and turns on.. ( i thinking it's the thermal paste) (it was the thermal paste)
Opened mine up after 7 years cause it was getting kinda loud. Totally thought that heatsink would be clogged up but it was about 98 percent clean...... Truly amazed. And dissatisfied that I had nothing to clean/improve. Just redid the thermal paste and called it a day.
Quick question because I’m not to much of a tech person, I won’t some how destroy or brake my PS4 for taking out some plugs and stuff in the ps4 how u should around 4:04?
Great video man keep it up! I was able to open up the tray to the motherboard. BUT I always have trouble disconnecting the PSU connector and the fan connector. Any ideas anyone? I really want to fully clean my PS4 from dust, but it's like those 2 connectors are stuck like glue. Thanks guys!
I done every step you told me to do and yes, when I turn it on it’s super quite now which is great. However when I go on fortnite it suddenly gets really loud and just turns off still.
Thank you for the tutorial my ps4 was giving me overheating warnings. After I opened everything up the heat sync looked identical to the one in your video. My PS4 is back to normal!

Man thank you a ton. Installed my new fan and replaced the thermal paste all within 30-45mins from your instruction 🙏🏾
This tutorial really helped me but I feel like I had to decipher putting it back together by myself. You should’ve talked us through putting the mother board back. I really struggled with it.

@@fasttechvideo bad day or something?

How the hell did a roach manage to find it's way into your system? Where do you play in your houses crawlspace? Good lord.

Wiggling helped a bunch.
eliminatorxx713 appreciate it bro, I was finally able to get it out. The PS4 is running like brand new.
I sincerely hope you replaced the thermal compound after disassembling your ps4 :D
Do you guys know if all the regular different gens of ps4s have the same fan ? I have the second gen regular ps4
@@jimmysmith4821 It’s likely it does, but you can find out by either googling it (the model of the ps4) or when you remove the fan it has a numbers and code on the lower back of it which you could look for when purchasing a new fan

I want to thank you for doing this step by step tutorial. I decided to disassemble my ps4 following your instructions since I wanted to be sure that it would be real clean. I had to do it urgently cause even when using UA-cam it was running loud. I don’t need to mention that I stopped playing games for sometime due to overheating (It shut down on me twice so I didn’t wanna go for a third one)
Everything went fine and all worked as it should. No missing screws or unplugged cables 😄 Now it runs much better and it definitely blows air again.

That thermal conductivity is as good as gone as soon as you lift up the motherboard away from the heatsink

Fasttech Its not that fucking easy to fix a console when you arent a proffesiona
He should have replaced that thermal paste too!
I was thinking the same thing why leave it dirty when it is opened up easy enough I would think, Well, I guess each there own...
I can't trust myself about this but, it's worth of try, so my PS4 can survive 'til PS5 is on the corner.
