@@azaanali5459 so I’ve done some searching for you and watched 6 different videos on this and it could be faulty power supply or the thermal paste and it could go even beyond that and be the Sauter on the mother board
I opened mine up and changed the thermal paste of the CPU, now it’s way quieter. It was surprising because the application of the original thermal paste was gross, it spilled out of the CPU and hardly covered it. I recommend anyone having issues with their loud PS4 to open it and replace the thermal paste. It’s not extremely hard, just follow a tutorial and your PS4 will be good as new.

Call of Duty MW seems to be one of the biggest culprits for PS4 overheating as of recent. Personally, I’ve never played any other game that required my fan to blow so loud so constantly. If you haven’t yet, you may want to delete and reinstall MW fresh so that it doesn’t switch off right away. Also make sure everything’s up to date.
John Hammer I’ve found a solution, whilst your waiting for it too find a match go into gunsmith and preview the weapon, the PS4 won’t overheat however the fan will still be loud. By waiting on the PREVIEW LOADOUT screen there’s less things running in the background which won’t cause the PS4 too shut down
I’ve literally had the PS4 pro for one year. Used it six times and it started that overheating shit! And from what I’m reading this is a very widespread issue. Something that cost that much should not perform like this. I’ve also owned both versions of the Xbox. I have never had any issues with them! Anyone else going through this, or am I the only one?
i bought mine used,, after 3 days it over heated .. lol i left it on for 3 days ,, sleep mode ,, turned it on to play game and it overheated 3 hours into game play ,, i shut it down ,, fired it back up ,, took ex- harddrive off the top and now it works fine ,,, im seeing they cant take any kind of heat.. i bought a ex-fan and just turn on when playing
For me, I think the vertical stand ia much better than not using a stand, cause using the vertical stand makes more surface area exposed to surrounding air like a convection from air which can make it more cooler compared to just laying it on flat, what I am trying to say is there is more convection going on on the surfaces of the unit which means there is greater heat transfer going on, bcause I believe the ambient air would be much more cooler than the inside parts..
I don't have a ps4 yet but when I bought a stand to put my ps3 in a vertical position it made a HUGE difference in the temperature of the console. When you leave your console horizontally the space between the console and the table or furniture its on is very small and the heat can't dissipate well but putting your console in a vertical position fixes that big time.

I've noticed many in the comment section pointing out the issue of dust buildup to others in the comment section of this video. Dust buildup will, for obvious reasons, cause the system to overheat. Make sure to clean the dust out of both the fan and heatsink (at least) to make sure the transfer of heat is successful when the system is reassembled. I've seen a few mention thermal paste replacement as well, which is also good. If you're not confident enough to disassemble your system, find a friend or family member who can hopefully do it for you. Two things you really shouldn't do, in my opinion: (1) Have anything that is literally "stacking" on top of your console. Like John Hammer in the video mentioned, too much stacking could trap heat but too much stacking could also apply too much pressure on the inner hardware of your console. Doesn't make a lot of sense to have anything stacking on a console with inside hardware so sensitive to damage, just saying. (2) Do not put your console or any console just sitting in a cabinet somewhere. Put your console in an open-spaced area somewhere so that it has plenty of space to both breathe and not accumulate too much dust. People who just leave their consoles in cabinets and shortly later wonder why their system sounds like a "jet engine" so quickly, reevaluate where you're placing your system and perhaps where else your system should be relocated. Leaving your console in a cabinet will only cause the inside of it to accumulate dust at a faster rate.
Cheaper way to do it is open up the system and replace the thermal paste. Also clean the fan and the heat sink as well. Your system will breathe much better and will have a stable gameplay
I have a PS4 slim. Do these tips still work? Cause I see you have a pro. But also. It's only the back right of my PS4 That overheats. Nowhere else. I have a vertical stand but it seems like it gets hotter faster than laying flat.
My PS4 has recently starting to overheat i have the same space about yours so the fans have a good distance away from the wall it only about 3 years old
I took my ps4 pro apart cleaned the heat sink and the fan. And applied new thermal paste. This was 2 + years ago. Still quiet as a mouse till this day.
After I updated the 7.55 update my ps4 turns on and beeps 3 times and turns right back off idk if it's the problem with the software update or if it's the overheating issue because I got a message saying ps4 is too hot and it shut back off. I'm so confused af rn.
Thalal This could be an issue with the way the update is applying to the PS4 system menu. Try unplugging and replugging the system in after a few minutes and see if this allows you to access the main menu.
Great video. I don't have a vertical stand but what I do is get maybe 3 or 4 of my ps4 game case or can use any DVD cases and stack them on top of each other and put my ps4 on top of them. The size of the cases are good because they sit in the middle underneath the console without blocking any vents. So like you said about giving the console enough room to have good air flow all around and underneath. Has plenty room to breath. Thanks for your videos and tips. God Bless
For me the problem is that, my PS4 works fine until I open Ace combat 7 (44 GB). The game is even updated. When I play for 4 minutes, I get the notifications for overheating. Then when I open fifa 23(43 GB), it doesn’t over heat. I don’t know what’s the reason behind that.
Did you find a solution for it? I'm currently dealing with thr exact same problem. AC7 Is the only game on my ps4 that makes it display the overheating message.
I’ve been with xbox for 7 years and I decided to buy a ps4 on the side. I’m kinda dumbfounded how unoptimized the original ps4 is in terms of cooling. I popped it open and noticed the bad cooling system. Its not too bad but it can be better. Is the ps4 pro any better?
Apple The PS4 Pro has 4K and HDR compatibility. There is a newer and a slightly older version of the Pro based on model number, and the newer version of the Pro is known to have slightly less fan speed decibels.
Have a pre-owned PS4 slim for about 4 yrs, been horizontal since I got it, bought a PS4 vertical stand for £1 today, might save my consoles life span in the long run
Honestly, I feel like the best solution would be, putting your ps4 vertical and instead of blowing air into the ps4, get like a small fan and put it backwards towards the back of the ps4 so the extra fan is like an extra exhaust for the ps4 and it’ll help push air out
Yes that’s really interesting, and a reason I’m personally not a fan of third party fan stands. I’m like you and don’t see the benefit of blowing air into the console, especially since it can introduce more dust and dirt into the system. But some people that have them say they love it, so it seems to be a matter of preference and tolerance.

This is helpful. My ps4 pro came today. I think another reason why is because of downloading games while playing. This helped a lot. My ps4 is now more away from my wall. And I put all my games off the top. I'm planning on getting a stand in the next month.
For real! And yes, with a mere 1 TB (nowadays) I did have to delete games so that I could fit the massive size of Call of Duty, the multiplayer, Warzone, and ALL its constant updates to date. I will certainly be publishing an upcoming video on my experiences from this soon!
At one point in my life my PS4 hard drive failed to do a software update and it overheated and burnt I’ve got a new one and ever since that happened I’ve been terrified of my PS4 losing all of the memory I really hope these tips helped me out and I have one more question, is putting an extra fan good for the PS4?
That's great! Keep an eye that it doesn't happen again, and be sure to give the fans on your Slim enough space in the back away from any walls, obstacles, or other entertainment boxes.
Do I need to replace thermal paste on my PS4 Slim? It gets pretty hot and pretty loud for no reason, I’ve got the dust out more than once and keep it in a super ventilated area I don’t know what else to do…
John hammer can you tell me all the tools needed to dissemble my ps4 cuh-1115 I had it since the beginning and never cleansed it since I was kid and didn’t understand that kind of stuff and now grown at 17 years old I’m noticing the mistake I did years ago and I want to know what the tools are needed for this I have a t8 and 9 torx ready and a replacement fan but the part we’re I had the most trouble was removing the power supply thing and I noticed people using like some small tong things and just pulling it off I’ve also seen other people use fingers but I’ve tried that and it won’t work either because of the years of being untouched or it’s just glued or something please help
I forgot the problems I have on it I sometimes play apex legends and I have a tiny fan pointing upwards to the ps4 and I have my ps4 on top of a spray can and also have my door open and another fan on all at the same time and the thing still fricken over hears loud fan hot air everything now on the kinda medium games like apex legends and Fortnite I get to play like 2 hours before that overheating thing pops off and then I gotta turn off my console on minecraft I haven’t gotten any message most I’ve played is 7 hours nothing so I’m guessing Minecraft is fine to play but on MW I play 20min at the least and it over heats do you think by replacing the fan cleaning the dust from it will resolve the loud fan and ps4 overheating warnings?
I don't recommend taking apart the system without the assistance of a repair professional. If you think it is only overheating during certain games, try deleting and reinstalling those titles fresh on the hard drive.
Good video , I'm an Xbox fan but I bought a PS4 to try its games that are not on Xbox . I hope I won't get disappointed. One question if I sign up for PS + or Now would I be able to play the games even after subscription ends ? I know my question is out of the video topic :). thanks
Please help me bro I cleaned the fan and the sides of my PS4 did the system update the deletes everything rebuilt database and for some reason it becomes extremely hot and it freezes crashes and turners off every 5-10 minutes
This may be something more severe such as a power unit or hard drive failure. It is best at this point to take your console to a trained professional that can safely operate on the unit to inspect and solve this issue.
Flux i have the same issue. I studied this subject LONG AND HARD. I figured out what makes it overheat is the lack of a cooling system. Check your fan. Is it spinning correctly? Is it siezed (meaning it cannot spin automatically)? Check the thermal paste. Is it dry? Change it. Check the heatsink. Is it filled to the brim with dust? Is it broken/bent?
Smarty Boy I’m not sure how to check those things but atleast now I know the problem thank you I’ll see if I can look into that and find videos or something
Had my PS4 overheat and turn off after cleaning the fan and other areas (never reached the heatsink, but I thought it would be fine). after my final clean, it was at the point where it turned off within minutes of playing R6S. i thought it would be the thermal paste but I'm wondering if its anything different. any ideas? (gonna try and bring it to a repair shop sooner or later)

When I turn my ps4 I’m cool but if I’m playing a game where it takes a lot of energy I set my fan up so it’s facing it and it keeps cool..
Try deleting and reinstalling the game
If you use a sideway stand for your PS4 Pro it is a good idea to have a stand with fans, Amazon sells many stands with fans.
Two things you really shouldn't do, in my opinion:
(1) Have anything that is literally "stacking" on top of your console.

My ps4 and TV turned of randomly I don't know what to do can someone help
Not me bro but need for speed heat is overheating the shit outta my ps4 pro! I dont even wanna play it cuz i dont want it to break
If it is overheating specifically while playing NFS Heat have you tried deleting and doing a fresh reinstall on your hard drive?
John Hammer I just saw this comment and it worked bro frfr
Cristian Chavez wait reinstalling the game stopped the overheating?

I've had my ps4 since 2018 and this is just now happening. Even when I don't play a game it overheats and turns off.

Because the jet engine in those old models is burning up. “Pro” is built off the old variant, not the new one.
Problem solved.
There is a vertical with extra fans it is amazing 100% recommend it. It keeps the ps4 soooooo cooolll
Ahmed dief can you tell me a link?
Another big reason is you need to eventually change the thermal paste and completely take it apart to actually clean out the heatsink!!!
Love the intro
I feel ya bro, my Pro serves as a cooking grill when in full performance
I subbed. I hope u can be big one day
Thank you for the kind words Jono!
Cheaper way to do it is open up the system and replace the thermal paste. Also clean the fan and the heat sink as well. Your system will breathe much better and will have a stable gameplay
can you explain to us on ft plsss
I have a PS4 slim. Do these tips still work? Cause I see you have a pro. But also. It's only the back right of my PS4 That overheats. Nowhere else. I have a vertical stand but it seems like it gets hotter faster than laying flat.
Thank u so much,I couldn’t even play one game and would overheat on the Home Screen. Thank you so much for helping me fix my ps4
You're welcome Iggy! I'm super happy to hear that this was able to help you. Thank you for watching
DM on IG @cl7ech..I've a solution
The raise in a cool area made it get the message once so far in hours instead of every 10 minutes
This actually worked soon as I cleaned the dust and turned it away from my wall it got extra cold
That’s great J!
My ps4 say overheating and shuts down help even tho theres a fan blowing cold air through the ventilation
I fixed it i open my ps4 and just need to adjust my fan
1:18 “cannot connect to network” 😂😂😂
Am lost
Marques Dunn bruh
Okay I don’t see anything funny
Hes talking about how the ps4 heats by being online and stuff and its ironic his ps4 has no connection to the internet
Lmao didn’t even notice
Smooth and cool I love this guy and it’s my first day on the channel I liked and subbed with the notifications
Thank you!!
My PS4 has recently starting to overheat i have the same space about yours so the fans have a good distance away from the wall it only about 3 years old
I even replaces the thermal paste and cleaned it out. Still is overheating. Its hot in the back. Idk whats wrong.
I dont have it enclosed either.
Results?
I bearly turn mine on and it overheats like in 1 minute
Is it while you are playing a certain game or when at the home screen?
@@JohnHammer when at the homescreen
Try powering off and unplugging the PS4 for a few minutes, then plug the unit back in and power on.
@@JohnHammer ive already tried that and it didnt work
@@lucky.hectorr2480 have you fixed it?
I took my ps4 pro apart cleaned the heat sink and the fan. And applied new thermal paste. This was 2 + years ago. Still quiet as a mouse till this day.
The best intro in the world 🤣🤣
Thank you!
God Bless
Thanks maybe, ill try it
For me the problem is that, my PS4 works fine until I open Ace combat 7 (44 GB).
OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH LIKE+SUB 1000000% WORKED I PUT THE PS4 HIGHER AND HORIZONTAL AND I PUT A FAN ITS WAYYYYY COOLER NOW
You're welcome! I'm so happy this was able to help your PS4 gaming experience!
Heck yeah John!
Thanks!

You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
Best intro ever lmao hahaha thank you!
This is helpful. My ps4 pro came today. I think another reason why is because of downloading games while playing. This helped a lot. My ps4 is now more away from my wall. And I put all my games off the top. I'm planning on getting a stand in the next month.
Are we gonna talk about how did you download warzone without deleting any of your games?
For real! And yes, with a mere 1 TB (nowadays) I did have to delete games so that I could fit the massive size of Call of Duty, the multiplayer, Warzone, and ALL its constant updates to date. I will certainly be publishing an upcoming video on my experiences from this soon!
At one point in my life my PS4 hard drive failed to do a software update and it overheated and burnt I’ve got a new one and ever since that happened I’ve been terrified of my PS4 losing all of the memory I really hope these tips helped me out and I have one more question, is putting an extra fan good for the PS4?
thx man my ps4 kept saying for about a month now its over heating turn it of and all that
You're welcome

THIS IS A GREAT TIP FOR THE PS4!
My PS4 only done this to me once 😂. I got a slim 5-6 months ago an jus got my ventilation system for it so I’m good for a while
That's great! Keep an eye that it doesn't happen again, and be sure to give the fans on your Slim enough space in the back away from any walls, obstacles, or other entertainment boxes.
Do I need to replace thermal paste on my PS4 Slim? It gets pretty hot and pretty loud for no reason, I’ve got the dust out more than once and keep it in a super ventilated area I don’t know what else to do…
looks like your using the stand 👍
very helpful 😂
Thank you!
Damn this actually pretty helpful thanks my g
After 5 minutes of opening warzone my ps4 overheats I had to stop playing Warzone.
Srgnt Try deleting and reinstalling Warzone fresh on the hard drive
You're my hero.
Thank you!
Good video , I'm an Xbox fan but I bought a PS4 to try its games that are not on Xbox . I hope I won't get disappointed. One question if I sign up for PS + or Now would I be able to play the games even after subscription ends ? I know my question is out of the video topic :). thanks
Thanks Jake! Good question: it depends on the title but many games are requiring PS Plug for full playability as well as a constant online connection.

John Hammer :( where will I be able to take it?
Flux i have the same issue. I studied this subject LONG AND HARD. I figured out what makes it overheat is the lack of a cooling system. Check your fan. Is it spinning correctly? Is it siezed (meaning it cannot spin automatically)? Check the thermal paste. Is it dry? Change it. Check the heatsink. Is it filled to the brim with dust? Is it broken/bent?
Smarty Boy I’m not sure how to check those things but atleast now I know the problem thank you I’ll see if I can look into that and find videos or something
Smarty Boy did you end up fixing yours and is that something I should do by myself
i still have the original xbo xone and can leave it on for days but apparently -ps4 has a bad cooling fan lol
Its because it has loyal customers who had the plastation when it launched so yeah dust builds up
I think placing ps4 on the floor so it absorbs he heat passively, plus the air temperature is lower on the floor
“I’ll leave a description of that in the link below 3:05
oops 😅
😂😂😂
Had my PS4 overheat and turn off after cleaning the fan and other areas (never reached the heatsink, but I thought it would be fine). after my final clean, it was at the point where it turned off within minutes of playing R6S. i thought it would be the thermal paste but I'm wondering if its anything different. any ideas? (gonna try and bring it to a repair shop sooner or later)
pov: you're playing cyberpunk.
Can I ask a question?
Is it the promblem if we have the ps4 pro on boost mode or something else?
Because sometimes I play like games: star wars battlefront 2 or for honor or God of War 4 and it goes like airplane sound
